This one of my top favorite brunch places in Denton. They are usually packed on weekends, so plan ahead and try to go early. However, this is one place that I don't mind waiting in line. Service is always great, despite the busyness. Our severs are always cheerful and helpful. My favorite dishes are the seasonal veggie hashes or the avocado toast. This is mine and my boyfriend's favorite breakfast spot in town. The service is always incredible and we're always treated like regulars. The waffles are out of this world! If I could eat a waffle from the Egg & I everyday without gaining weight, I totally would. We have tried other breakfast spots in town and nothing compares to the egg and I. Then Egg and I, a 10 min wait place is packed but not to bad , the breakfast is first class their detail on cooking is top of the line and one of the best tasting breakfasts I've ever had. On vacation from California visiting my father with my family. Stoped here to grab breakfast before going for a hike. Had to wait ten minutes for a table which was fine. However when we were seated, we were not even given menus. The "waiter" came and attempted to poor us some coffee, I notice my cup was still dirty and obviously wasn't washed efficiently. Asked for a new cup and he brought me back another cup but already had coffee in it so no way for me to tell if it was clean even. Pretty sure it was the same cup. He never even took my wife's drink order even. After about 10 minutes we had to ask the same hostess that seated us for menus. Had to ask twice for half and half! Don't know if the waiter understood the first time. The whole restaurant looked miserable and the other guest appeared to be unhappy. We got up and walked out. We saw a New Place in town and thought we'd try it....Waste of Time and Money. First off we were placed in the "Meeting Room" that was empty while there were plenty of seats out front in main dining room. Felt ostracized away from the rest of the patrons. Ordered Cobb Salad that was okay, chicken and bacon in salad should have been brought to room temperature prior to serving - being ice cold made the meats tough and tasteless and a cheeseburger plate that came with chips and a pickle...nothing to write home about, really, barely a step up from McDonald's Cheeseburger. If you going to open a restaurant, have something that makes the dining experience memorable - whether it be the food or the atmosphere or an energetic and welcoming staff. They have none of these things. A signature dish that is memorable and endorsed by the staff would have been nice. Give me a reason to return. Prices slightly higher than I-HOP, food quality lower than I-HOP. (Used I-HOP to compare since the day before we ate there and ordered the same items.) I had great hopes for this new breakfast joint in Denton and found my outing to be just OK. I inquired about a gluten free menu and was given a gluten-friendly menu (in other words, they could not guarantee gluten cross-contamination). Sadly, the menu was all skillets and omelets. Not a gluten-free pancake, french toast, or waffle substitute to be found. I ordered the ham and cheese omelet with ranch potatoes and cottage cheese in lieu of bread and my husband had the waffle. The omelet was light and fluffy and the cottage cheese felt special with paprika added on top. My husband loved his waffle. The fresh-squeezed orange juice was excellent but pricey at $7.99 a carafe. Service was OK and the place had an odd smell...not bad, just odd. For my money, I am going to stick with Le Peep across the street where I can get better gluten free options at a comparable price. read more

The biscuts tasted very starchy and basically had to coat them in jelly to enjoy what I could of them. I heard alot of good things about this place only to be let down. Went this morning for the first time and the food was great! We will go back. I will say that the front of the restaurant has a poor smell to it. We couldn't figure out what it was- sewer lines maybe? We sat in the meeting room area as the place was pretty busy but all the waiters in the place were on top of their game, addressing patrons quickly when they sat down. We had slow service with water refills but that was about all. We ordered three meals for $30. The waffles were fabulous, portions are large, and they had coloring pages for the kids. Every other Sunday, after church, we go out for breakfast/brunch at various resturaunts. The Egg and I was very good. At many places we eat, rarely is the bacon cooked exactly as we order, but, at the Egg and I, it was cooked to perfection. Our waitstaff was attentive and all food items were delicious. We came into The Egg & I and had to wait to be seated. That took about 2.5 minutes. We were seated then waited about 5-6 minutes for waiter to finally come to our table. He apologized for the wait, took our drink order and breakfast order ( we didn't want to wait longer for food order ). Stopped in this morning to try out the new place. Read posted reviews and wasn't sure what to expect. My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised. Wife has the Spinach bacon mushroom omelette it was so very good. Hollandaise was tart lots so spinach bacon and mushrooms. Eggs were light and fluffy. I had the Texas skillet and it was also very good. Meat was tender with lots of veggies and spuds. Coffee was very mild just like I like it. Overall a very good place for breakfast. Service was fast and friendly. Not sure about the other reviews about the service but ours was spot on. We recommend the Egg & I for breakfast. Will have to come back for the lunch. read more

Came here after I received a coupon for 10$ off a 20$ or more check around May. Best decision I ever made! Since then, I came in tthree times total. The first visit I got the eggs benedict with ranch potatoes on the side and an Arnold Palmer. My little sister got a plain waffle with a side of ranch potatoes. The drinks are served very cute. You receive a filled up cup with a pitcher(size depends on how many orders there were) that you can use to refill your cup with by yourself, very convenient and cute! I loved the eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce was very creamy and delicious when it was combined with the egg yolk. The ranch potatoes were very good also! I wish they were smaller and crunchier though(I don't like big pieces of potatoes). My sister loved the potatoes and her waffles. She's a very picky eater, so if she likes it, it HAS to be good. Our waiter was very nice and I thought the way he talked was cute because he sounded very monotone even though his expressions were enthusiastic. He checked up on us often to make sure everything was good. Second time I went with a friend. I ordered the Cordon Bleu Skillet with scrambled eggs(tried it another time at HV location w/ sunny side up eggs and it was better!). It was really filling and delicious, but I preferred the eggs benedict. Had the same waiter as the first time and had the same service. The third time was with my mom. I was a little bit disappointed :( I ordered the eggs benedict and a side of loaded ranch potatoes. The hollandaise sauce was weird this time. It was very oily and you could see it separate from the sauce. It didn't taste as good as before, but it was still okay. I did not like the loaded ranch potatoes at all. It was way too overloaded for my own tastes. Was very strong. If you are a fan of chili, you should definitely order it! My boyfriend loved it when I bought it home though. My mom had sunny side up eggs with bacon and toast. She said it was alright(she doesn't like American breakfast foods, so it was understandable). Our waitress brought my mom the wrong drink but I was fine with that, I could tell she was overwhelmed and tired(since they open so early and it was 1 PM), but she still was very nice and happy when it came to serving us. She realized she brought the wrong drink and was very apologetic, but I let her know it was fine and understandable. She checked up on us very often also. The Egg & I has the best breakfasts in town! Their pancakes are huge with lots of melting butter and warm syrup on them. And the bacon and eggs are done to perfection-can't beat 'um anywhere! Now the best for last, the steel-cut oatmeal is to die for-yum yum!
