The lunch buffet was quite tasty. It included some curries, butter chicken, naan, goat biryani, and dessert including gulab jamun and some kind of fruit custard. I definitely left the restaurant full. I was especially impressed by the goat biryani, which was super flavorful. I also appreciated that a few of the curries were on the spicier side. But I did think it was a bit expensive for a lunch buffet ($24.99 per person on a Friday). The restaurant is also very no-frills. Tables took a bit to be bussed (I think they were short on staff), and at least when I went, you have to pay for water ($1 for a bottle of water). But the food was delicious, and the staff was nice.

Who f knows, but it was good.

You hear "buffet" and you brace yourself for mediocrity. Steam trays. Overcooked chicken. Sauces dulled into submission for the timid. This wasn't that. This was the kind of buffet where you make one slow lap first--just to take it in. Paneer in more than one form. Dal that looked like it had been simmering since sunrise. Chicken 64 glistening under the lights. Biryani piled high, fragrant and defiant. And the spice? Not neutered. Not suburbanized. Real heat. The kind that makes you reach for water and then immediately go back for more. I'll be honest--I didn't know exactly what everything was. Labels or not, it didn't matter. You trust your nose. You trust the color. You trust the steam rising off the tray. And nine times out of ten, you're rewarded. Everything I put on my plate had backbone. Nothing tasted like it had been sitting around apologizing for itself. The paneer had structure. The chicken had attitude. The vegetarian options weren't some token afterthought--they were equal players on the field. And here's the thing about a buffet like this--when the spices are real, when the heat lingers on your fingers long after the plate's cleared--you learn a small but important lesson: wash your hands before you pee. If you know, you know. Best Indian buffet I've had in Cleveland. No hesitation. This is how you do a buffet: bold, unapologetic, and just dangerous enough to remind you you're alive.

If I could give negative stars I would. I live in California and mortality ordered from this restaurant for delivery. 2 minutes later I saw I made a mistake so I called and asked to cancel the order so they don't waste food and I am refunded. They said they cannot cancel orders? It is their app that they own, how can you not cancel the order? How am I able to pick up the food and receive what I have paid for? I understand it is a mistake however I called two minutes after the order is placed so saying the food is already being prepared is a lie. Horrible business.

My coworkers and I dined here while in town visiting and had a great experience! We got the chili paneer, aloo gobi, butter chicken, garlic naan, and jamun. I love my jamun heated up and the server even went above and beyond to heat it up for us! My husband is Indian and I'd love to take him here if I visit Cleveland again. The establishment is clean and spacious.

Okay first of all, we arrived right as they opened at 10am, so the cleaning was starting from the late night crowd the evening before... the food took about thirty minutes for two dosa and chai. I recommend (personally) the paneer dosa, but that's my preference! The texture and flavor was spot on, and the fresh chai was SO worth the wait! Yes, as others have said, it isn't a four star restaurant in cleanliness, but it's decent. Think fast food level as far as that goes. But the food was GOOD! And the service even better! Will likely be back when I'm back in the Gareway District again! (Breakfast yummmm)

Not what we wanted. Got wrong meat and looks like they just dumped Goat Curry on mandi rice since goat curry was today's special.

Worst experience. Not what I wanted. Just dumped goat curry on mandi rice I don't want to go back again

Oh this place was so good. The vibes were great. Very chill and I loved the music videos playing in the back. The food was SO delicious. Spicy for sure but it was so yummy. Also the staff was SO nice. Very patient and attentive and making sure all our needs were met. I would have a better picture but the phone didn't eat first.

So I heard they were doing buffet over the weekend, I thought I'd check them out! Honestly, I didn't have a lot of expectations having read the previous reviews but duuuudeee - those reviews were an understatement for sure! Firstly the buffet is on the costlier side $20 per person, which is definitely on the higher side. Secondly, not a lot of options in the buffet as such - there's was plain rice, biryani, chicken Tikka, butter chicken, paya(mutton soup), Andhra chicken, dal, ragi balls, aloo Gobi, chole (which didn't look edible), papad, raita, rice pudding, fruit custard, salad and fruits! That sounds like a lot right, if I was a vegetarian, my only options would be - aloo Gobi, plain rice, dal, chole, steamed ragi balls(which tbh is an acquired taste you're not gonna like it), papad raita rice pudding and salad/fruits! Does that sound like a $20 meal to you? Nope not to me honestly, and I can cook all of these for a dozen ppl with that 20 bucks!! Thirdly and mainly this 'unlimited' buffet includes just 1 portion of flat bread! Can you believe that? One 6" thin flat bread! Ok now for the taste test - so m an Indian born in India in a south Indian home in a Mumbai which is a melting pot of cultures within India, why am I saying this - so you understand where I come from and how much I understand Indian food! The taste is Meh!!! Yes that's my review! The only decent item on the menu worth a second helping was butter chicken and who'd pay $20 for unlimited butter chicken and plain rice at an "unlimited" buffet? Not me please! I'd not recommend this place to anyone for even a 1 time visit!

Delicious! Fantastic authentic Indian food. Very diverse menu with northern and southern options. The bathrooms were very clean and nice which I love.

Super friendly staff, the food was very flavorful but very spicy! Next time will ask for less spice . 9/10 would definitely come here again

Very impressed with the attention the chef paid in preparing the food, as he asked if it was ok if one of the dishes we ordered took more time than the other food we ordered, as he wanted to get it just right. I noticed Friends Circle restaurant and it looked like a solid option so I stopped in. I ordered the Chicken Dum Biryani and the total was around $13. I enjoyed my lunch. There was white rice in the bowl as well. It came in a plastic container with alot of food. The Chicken Dum Biryani was slightly spicy but manageable because I like spicy foods. The chicken drumsticks were well cooked and there were 2 pieces inside. I thought I took a photo of the Chicken Dum Biryani but I guess not (maybe it's hiding in my phone) or maybe I was just too hungry to worry about a photo for Yelp...LOL. Either way, if you enjoy Indian food then this is a good option. The restaurant has a lot of seating but I took my food to go. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 141/250 total reviews in 2026 - 982 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 24 June 2026

The vibe is trendy so the restaurant is extremely dark and loud, but has some nice unique modern decor. Our favorites were lentil donuts and crispy puris. Everything was unique and creative with fun strong flavors and nice presentation. I visited while in Cleveland and was super happy I listened the folks on online forums I researched before my trip, because it delivered! The menu is more Indian-fusion rather than your super traditional Indian fare, weaving in classic flavors with a few twists and inspiration from the mediterranean and middle-east. It's special-diet friendly, with a wide range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes and I would suggest ordering 2-3 small plates per person, unless you opt for the opt for their "chef-curated menu's." We went with four dishes plus bread to share between the two of us: 1. Clay Bread ($6): Ambas version of Naan bread, just a bit less charred than I would prefer. Despite each table getting a little dish of (delicious) mango chutney, no bread service is offered so this is definitely needed if you're ordering any dippage. This tasted more like pita bread than naan and could've benefitted by a brush of ghee and sprinkle of sea salt. Rating: 3/5 2. Warm spinach dip - lemon, garam masala, yogurt ($10): A classic but with a warm and spicy spin, this was absolutely delicious and a perfect thing to dip their fluffy clay bread. Garam masala added a depth that made it addictive and the hint of fresh lemon added brightness and acidity. Definitely order this. Rating: 5/5 3. Lentil donuts - spicy serrano chili jam, coconut chutney ($13): Round little pucks of cooked red lentils shaped into mini donuts and fried, the texture and heft were a bit mushy and heavy, but the flavor was good. The serrano chili jam and coconut chutney added a sweetness and spiciness that was appreciated, and we used that to add some sweetness to the chicken tikka. I probably wouldn't order again but a good option for the vegan and gluten-free crowd. Rating 3/5 4. Lamb kofta - kohlrabi, pickled shallot, quinoa-carrot pilau, parsley ($19): These were perfectly fried, simple but super flavorful kofta's that really let the star of the show (lamb) shine. The shaved kohlrabi, pickled shallot, pilau, and parsley added freshness and brightness that balanced everything beautifully. One of the standout dishes of the night and if you're there, get this! Rating 5/5 5. Herb grilled chicken tikka - creamy tomato sauce, yogurt, chives ($20): Juicy chicken thighs were coated in a tomato-forward cream sauce that gave vibes of chicken tikka but not as spice-forward as a more traditional version (which I would have like/appreciated). Despite the description saying the chicken was grilled, it only had just the slightest hint of char and so this was one of the least favorites of the night. Good, but definitely room for improvement. Rating 3/5 Overall, Amba is absolutely worth checking out if you're craving Indian-inspired flavors in a more modern, small-plate format. The ambiance is perfect for date night, celebrations, or dinner with friends, and the menu offers enough variety and flex to explore while also being wallet-friendly.
