Another Wednesday night crazy food truck event at Volunteer Park in Plantation, FL. Our first meal was at The Greek food truck. The menu had several mediterranean items but my eyes went directly to the Pork Gyro $13 covered with Tzatziki sauce with Bakalava $8 for dessert. The gyro was fresh and delish and the Bakalava was freakishly sweet with a crispy crust and a honey taste. Went to a food truck event with live music and the Greek food truck was there. They had the biggest line so we figured the food must be good if everyone was there over the other food trucks. Had a special on the souvlaki and got the beef kebab to have some variety. Service was quick even with a long line and they were very efficient so line moved well. Enjoyed the food and would definitely choose them again if they are at future events. read more

Voted best food truck by Fort Lauderdale Magazine this week. So when I saw they were going to be at a food truck event yesterday, I just had to stop and give them a try. Cool looking clean food truck with friendly service. I ordered their most popular item, the pork gyro. I also got a huge piece of baklava. The food was fresh & tasty but honestly nothing special IMO. So glad to have had The Greek back in our neighborhood for our monthly food truck night. The Greek salad is delicious, something about a thick-cut cucumber hunk of feta and a delightful dressing. The Gyro platter is such a great mix of all the fan favorites. Wish I had tried their specialty pomegranate drink. Next time! This is our 3rd time coming here, but we live 35 miles away. This is a fantastic little local Greek restaurant. I wish we lived close and we would come much more often. The food flavors are spot-on, food portions are equivalent to the price and staff is professional. They have tables inside, but it seems most business is take out. I had the platter . Half chicken and original. Chicken was good and tender the meat was to chewy I couldn't really take a bite mostly fat. I appreciate that they did their gyro meat fresh rather then the prepackaged "gyro" everyone else serves. My only set back is there's no flavor just bland meat skewered on the stick. I would of appreciated more taziki yogurt the 1/2 teaspoon provided isn't enough. Greek salad is a classic combo but it's hard to eat everything is to big and chunky . I came home chopped it and dressed and it was good. I just feel like their food could be more flavored . It's Greek food but I don't think it's the best . Don't think since this is a food truck that this isn't fresh food. We sampled the lamb, octopus, falafel, spinach pie, Tzatziki sauce, hummus.... omg.... wow! Our mouths are so happy! Fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. The octopus and lamb is marinated and tender. It will melt in your mouth. By far the best food trunk food I have ever had. I would highly recommend if you have a need for a food truck or see the Greek Truck is going to be somewhere that you check it out. Alex was an absolute dream to work with. He can cater events from 50 people and up. His food was amazing. Great value for the price. He is very accommodating. No one waited for the food more than a minute or two. He made the event fun. Has a great sense of humor. He has a marvelous personality. Was prepared to serve extra headcount. Can not recommend this food truck highly enough. I spent 3 months in Greece almost a decade ago and since always look for authentic Greek food. When I saw pictures of their food online I knew I had to track this truck down. This was only my first experience, but it has the most authentic Gyro I have had in those 10 years. I can't wait till my next meal so I can try their other dishes, and hopefully some Ouzo! Wow this gyro was pita-ful. Sorry really Greeked out on you. Okay I'm done I promise. Alex runs this food truck-like pop up Greek Restaurant all over the South Florida area throughout the week, and he does an amazing job with capturing the authentic Greek flavors for all of his dishes. If you follow his Facebook page with the same name, "The Greek", he makes sure to post the times and locations that you can eat some Gyros so you can plan in advance. It's a very clean kitchen and he has tables for customers to eat on as well. There are a variety of options on the menu including gyros, Greek salads, grilled octopus and lamb chops. We got the pork gyros but he also has a chicken gyro prepared in a similar way; it is roasted on a skewer with a vertical broiler. The meat was nice and crisp but not dried out, which was a relief when I think about some of the other dried out gyros I've had in the past. The pitas are heated up on a flat top grill and piled high with gyro meat. It is then topped with tomatoes, onions, fried potatoes and a healthy serving of tzatziki sauce. This tzatziki sauce is to die for...so much garlic which helps give it a great flavor. The Greek salad has nice size chunks of tomato and cucumber, red onion slices, and a light vinaigrette. Not to mention the nice piece of feta cheese to top it off. Alex has a couple sweet options too, including baklava and loukoumades--topped with honey and almonds. He also has a few gyro options, such as a platter or even a gyro quesadilla. Don't miss your opportunity to score some great, authentic Greek food served by a great guy and his family. read more

I went to Volunteer Park and was excited to try the Gyro. They have an "Original Gyro " which I thought would be lamb but it was pork. I was disappointed about it being pork but even then, it lacked flavor and there was lots of fat. The only reason I give this 3 stars is because the desert (cheese cake with apple) was really good. read more

The Greek food truck re-introduced me to Greek food and I'm so glad it did. The workers are polite, efficient and consistently serve high quality Greek food. I enjoy the chicken Souvlaki which it basically a grilled chicken kabob that comes with pita bread and tzatziki sauce. It also only costs $5. Other dishes on the menu are affordable ($8 to $10) as well. Ordering food that you aren't familiar with can be intimidating but they conveniently display all of their dishes on a table so guests can see exactly what their menu items look like. Tonight at Pompano Untapped, I was so excited to see The Greek was there and chose to eat at it over 10+ other food trucks. It sometimes will show up at a farmers market across my workplace in Fort Lauderdale on Thursdays as well. I love this truck and look forward to my next order of chicken Souvlaki!
