I called in the morning and the plumber was available in early afternoon. Paul came out and was very personable and professional. I especially appreciated that he had worn white booties in the house to protect the floors. Our plumbing problem is an on-going situation, so I have a little knowledge of what needs to be done. Snaking the main line from house to street, and replacing the wax ring on the downstairs toilet came to $325. Paul had the industrial size snake compared to other companies that try to use the smaller snake, and then up the rate because they are using a larger machine. I appreciated that I did not get, "we need to put a camera down the line to check it out story". Most companies charge $195 to replace wax ring, and $150 to snake. So, I felt the cost was within the range. I would definately call them back. The only business suggestion I would provide is: most consumers want to know the itemized price of a job that involves more than one task. Paul wasn't able to provide this information, and had priced snaking and replacing the wax ring as one job. I think customers are more comfortable with itemized billing, rather then thinking that there is a hidden costs somewhere in the billing. read more

What a nightmare! My mother lives in New Jersey and I manage her rental property for her. The tenants called "The Green Plumber" when their bathroom sink became backed up. He came out and told the tenants that everything was installed incorrectly, took the sink apart and ordered custom finish parts...$$$ before contacting us. We called him to inquire and he ended up refusing to speak with us- the owners and demanded only to speak with the tenant. (This is a first!) We told him that we did not want custom finishes, just the normal parts that were defective to be replaced- so that it would look just like it did before- no better, no worse- and so he reinstalled our OLD parts and billed us $342.00!!! This guy charged us $342.00 for basically snaking the line. We still have to get a plumber out there to fix/replace the parts he took apart. Now I understand why he calls himself "the Green Plumber"- he must be very wealthy from ripping people off! read more

They were courteous, on time, knowledgeable, and affordable. They are true professionals and exemplary in their trade. The reason I actually chose them out of the long list of plumbers in my area was because of the way they responded to their negative reviews. I can understand that being in a public service field, no matter how diligent you are, you just can't please all of the people all of the time. I found their replies to be thoughtful, sensible and respectful. What more can you ask for when there are differences of opinion? It makes sense that this quality team would be in such high demand that they might be slow in returning a call or two every now & then. If you happen upon them on one of those rare days, don't count it against them. They're more than worth it in the end. Go with The Green Plumber. I love these guys. They have always been very responsive and quick. I've called them a few times in emergencies and have never put me off. Paul is the most considerate plumber/repairman and works diligently until the job gets done. I also like that they use eco-friendly products. (Btw, the first time I called them was for an estimate to find the clean out and/or dig one. While Timothy was searching around the garage and outside, he noticed that the hot water heater was not up to code. I had just bought the house and the previous owners had to move it to fix some drywall. Obviously, they didn't put it back correctly. Everything everyone had to say about Timothy was absolutely true! He was on time, clean, and was very knowledgeable. I never felt like he was ripping me off, and he actually made recommendations where necessary and told me things that did not need to be repaired! He came to our home for two separate service calls (one plumbing and one furnace related), and I never felt like a prisoner in my home. I felt safe having Timothy in my home. Timothy may not be the "discount" plumber people are sometimes searching for, but he was honest and up front about his charges before starting the work. I recently had a plumbing emergency that needed a great plumber. After checking reviews online, I called Tim - and was pleasantly surprised. I had a prompt quick visit, and once the standing water in the crawl space was cleaned up by a soil restoration company, The Green Plumber came in, replaced the pipe, and was done in less than a 1/2 day! Even better- no mess! Considering they had to take the long pipe in thru a crawl space hole in the main closet, and that he got REALLY dirty under the house, I was impressed with the speed, the honest assessment of the problem, and how it could be fixed with a minimum of fuss. I definitely would use them again. My experience with service providers is that you call them to do a service you can't do yourself - there was an expectation on my part that their service would be fair and the pricing just - and I was right. Had Tim come out to snake the kitchen sink as it had slowed down and finally stopped up. My kitchen sink is a repeat offender and although i do all i can, it stops up about every 9-18 months. This was the first time I used the Green plumber as i had read some not so great stuff about my old plumber on Yelp. He came out with a partner/apprentice (?) about 15 minutes earlier than i was expecting him. He had said he would be there some time after 3:30 and my previous experiences with various repair persons was that this meant i would see him around 6:30 or so, as we were eating dinner. So i was pleasantly surprised to see the truck drive up at 2:45. This was awesome as I had been dealing with the sink for 3 days and I was more than ready to wash dishes in the kitchen again. The truck parked in front of my house and next to the parkway, which is planted in wildflowers and fragile drought resistant foliage. I watched from the house as the apprentice opened his door, looked down at the planted parkway and carefully performed acrobatics as he exited the vehicle so as not to step on or injure any of my plants. This was impressive to me as i cannot count the times i have had to remove various supposedly adult persons from standing in the middle of meticulously planted flowers. Once up the driveway, the famous booties were donned and the plumbers entered the house. After I finished explaining the problem, which was carefully listened to, they got to work examining the situation. Tim explained what he was doing step by step to the apprentice and this was interesting to me because I was able to not only learn some good info, but also see that he knew what to do and why, and could articulate it. I detest getting a runaround or being forced to deal with someone who cannot explain the problem coherently, but expects me to believe they know what they are doing. And then pay for it. Once it was determined there was a stoppage, which needed snaking, and a section of pipe that needed replacing due to rust damage, repair options were presented. I could go with a plastic pipe or a brass pipe, he explained the pros and cons of both and left me with no pressure to choose. I went with the brass, the more expensive option, because of durability, and it was nice not to feel pressured. I never go cheap on repairs and so I hate being pressured into higher dollar options when i was probably going to go that route anyways. Work commenced, plastic was laid down, repairs were made, snaking was done, cleanup was completed. I have a couple of high strung pets and the plumbers were able to bring in all their equipment, snake the sink with a big electric motor snake machine on wheels and then carry it all back out again quietly and efficiently without once scaring my pets or letting flies in from outside!! I asked Tim about an issue with my shower and he was able to give me an idea of what to do and how to go about it, when I'm ready to get it remedied. When the bill was presented, the amount was slightly less than i was quoted before he began the job. This has never been my experience before with any repair service. It is always more because "Of this, and that, i didn't see until we got in there, and now this, plus tax, extra labor, had to go get the part that wasn't on the truck, etc. etc." None of that nonsense with the Green Plumber. So, long story short, he showed up on time, stayed off the flowers, fixed the issues, charged fairly, invoiced honestly and left everything cleaner than he found it. Plus, my sink is fixed. As soon as I find an honest tile contractor, I'm having them back to do my shower. read more

The reviews do not lie. The Green Plumber gave me tips on the phone on how to fix my garbage disposal unit at no charge. I called him to book an appointment but he didn't have an opening any time soon so I asked him for an estimate to get an idea if its worth the wait. I told him that my disposal unit is relatively new and it just doesn't spin because a little ceramic dish fell in it. He says that it should be really inexpensive to fix. He then suggests that he gives me some tips so I can fix it myself and even offered for me to call him back if it doesn't work out. I felt bad that I was taking up Tim's time at no charge so I tried to find an appointment further out the week but still no luck. I thanked him and set out to do it myself with newfound confidence that it feasible for a laymen. After some research, I narrowed it down to a hitting a reset button and turning the hex key at the bottom of the unit. Bam! We just saved ourselves a nice chunk of money. I hope Tim can lead and grow his business as well as he provides customer service. I found The Green Plumber by searching Yelp and chose him because of all the great reviews...and the reviews are right! Timothy arrived on time. Had a big truck full of everything he needed along with my shiny new toilet! He was honest, courteous, helpful, clean (he put cloth covers on his shoes so he wouldn't track dirt into the house. By the time he left he'd gone through 3 sets) and was reasonably priced. With Timothy there were no surprises or surprise costs. I walked back to see how the install was going and saw that he was using a level to make sure the toilet sat just right. That impressed me. He also cleaned the floor where the old toilet sat before installing the new one and ran a nice bead of caulk around the toilet base. While he was there I asked him to check my old floor furnace which I'd never fired up before. The Gas Co. had checked it a couple hours earlier and told me there was no pilot light "thingy' and I'd need to replace the whole furnace at a cost of several hundred dollars. Not only did Timothy check it out for soundness he got the pilot light lit! AND...he also spent a good time vacuuming it out for me. AND...he also checked for leaks in my pipes and got my exterior shut-off valve working which I was told by another plumber the week before would need to be replaced! The Green Plumber is wonderful! We hired Timothy to fix a leak and replace half of our old plumbing, and he did a great job. He gave us a fair price, showed up on time daily, let us know our options, and delivered excellent service. He is also truly an environmentalist; he taught us the environmental and cost benefits of using gray water (leftover water from our washing machine) to water our lawn, and he added a gray water output for free. Timothy is also very nice and comfortable to work with; it was never awkward to have him over, and I enjoyed learning about his volunteer work with school gardens. Since we hired The Green Plumber, we've called for other plumbing questions, and Timothy is very generous with his expertise. Tim's crew fixed our water heater tank few years ago; their professionalism and ability to ensure everything is up to code that make us decide to have them to fix our gas pipeline a week ago. It was definitely not a simple project, Noor & Paul had to crawl underneath the house numerous times to fix the pipe. As usual, their workmanship and quality of service never fail us.
