This was the most horrible service and food we have had. We wanted to try something new. We got a Bloody Mary and it was not that great!! My husband ordered over easy eggs and it didn't come that way. The hash browns were not cooked all the way. The au ju for my French did tasted like water and no flavor to it at all. Our server forgot to take our sons order. When we first got their we asked for waters and didn't get them til right before we got our food. Tried a new breakfast place today with some friends. Best meals at the table were the French Toast, chocolate chip pancakes, and crepes. All of these, as told by my fellow breakfast patrons, were excellent. I'll take them at their word and try one of these next time I visit. I had the biscuit and gravy, with hash browns and scrambled eggs. The hash browns were too soggy and the sausage gravy didn't have the right consistency, it was just too runny. This was the consensus from 3 of us that had the gravy. I wish I would have sampled some of the other plates as they did seem to really enjoy their selections. The waitress did an excellent job in taking care of us, keeping our drinks filled in a timely manner, and just providing an overall pleasant dining experience. Visiting with family this past weekend and they suggested this place for a good breakfast - and it was a good suggestion. We were at an off time so it wasn't very busy. Even so - the service was a little off. My biggest pet peeve is when they don't come back after the first few minutes of being served to see if everything is okay. That step was skipped. Hopefully that gets better. The seating was comfortable - cushy booths, counter seats and tables by the window. Their menu has the staples, but also some interesting items such as a variety of benedicts and scrambles. I was trying to decide between the hot cakes or a waffle when my cousin announced - we'll get a table waffle - which I think should be a thing since I cannot be the first person to have this dilemma! I had a cheese omelet with hasbrowns topped with gravy and a hot cake - not to be confused with a pancake. The omelet was smallish but a good size with the cheddar and swiss inside - but none on top which I always expect. Browns were crispy, hot and topped with a white sausage/country gravy that added a good peppery flavor. The hot cake was large and thick - more thick than our waffle which was odd. Very tasty and served with warmed syrup. The table waffle that was shared was okay, but really too thin for what I expect a waffle to be. The others all enjoyed their meals - which included homemade salsa and strawberry jam. I thought the prices were a bit high for breakfast food, but not unreasonable. read more

Customer service - 5 Clean -5 Food-3 I understand it is new and will get better. The biggest thing we saw that bothered us was they let the food set on the pickup counter with no heat lamp. WHAT A RIP OFF! I could have gotten bigger portions at Dennys and for half the cost! Hash browns were burnt, the "homemade" biscuits were awful - more like insta mix baked in a cake pan, the gravy was as bland as I have ever tasted and the amount was laughable. The menu stated that hash browns come with biscuits and gravy - BUT apparently if you want them pan cooked or with cheese and mushrooms it will cost you extra of which the waiter did not inform us of that little detail - SCAM! Walking in to the restaurant I could tell right away it was a very busy restaurant which is a good sign because it means good food. We waited for a good 30 mins to be seated. The ambiance is very nice and cozy. This restaurant specializes in breakfast food, but since I already had breakfast, I ordered a lunch meal--half and half combo of a sandwich and salad. My husband ordered the French dip. It took 45 minutes to receive our food. The waiter brought our drinks fairly quickly but didn't check in the whole time while we were waiting. He didn't pop by to give us a status of our food. I understand that it was a busy rush, but even reassuring us that we weren't forgotten would have been nice and good service. Anyways we finally get our food and everything looks tasty. My BLT half sandwich was very savory and definitely had good flavor. My salad on the other hand was bitter and the lettuce had brown stuff on it like it was old. It was still edible but I wasn't impressed. My husband enjoyed his French dip. The French fries that came with his meal was pretty good! The waiter did come by and asked us how we were so he was pretty attentive during the meal time. Such a horrifically underwhelming experience, the decoration and seating is clean and bright. It looks like a place that you would like to enjoy a good meal. that is the reason for half of the star. It took about ten minutes to be seated, they have odd seating with incredibly long booths allowing two parties to sit at the same booth without either party feeling claustrophobic. The servers were quick, smart and attentive they are the reason (if allowed the option) i would give one star instead of zero if i could. Now...the food, I ordered the corned beef hash, the menu described it as a simple and straightforward hash, exactly what i like. I was surprised that the price was a bit high, i believe over twelve dollars for plain jane corned beef hash?! I received my order incredibly fast, i was impressed until they put the plate in front of me. It was a small plate, perhaps eight inches across. The amount of hash was completely covered by the two eggs that came with it, it did not peek out on the sides. The amount of food on the plate left a good two inches between it and the edge of the plate at the least. After sneering a little and feeling like i've been cheated, i hoped that the flavor would be excellent. My hopes were completely dashed, It arrived so quickly and yet, it was on the downward slope of lukewarm so the oils and fats were not congealed but at that highly viscous slimy stage. The potatoes were falling apart but not in a good way and the beef was huge tough chunks, i'm pretty sure that they cut it with the grain making it even tougher. I had hopes for this place since Nampa is not prolific on solid breakfast joints. Don't go here, your stomach will be empty, so will your wallet. read more

I have been to the Griddle twice now. The first during a busy weekend morning around 10:30. This experience was a normal, nothing exceptional but an everything fine type of dining experience. Still it was just enough to make me want to go back so when my 13 year old nephew came to town I thought it would be a great place for our first breakfast out together. I was wrong. We dined on a Monday morning around 10 am. They were not busy and we sat ourself. The booth we chose looked like it still needed a good wipe down which was fine, as we expected this to happen when someone came to get our drink order. It did not. In fact we seemed to be the only ones to realize that it still had soms crumbs on it and that there was not any silverware or napkins. I had to ask for these. I ordered an orange juice and a coffee. I was given an orange juice and a water. I did not complain as this is not a giant problem and also because our waitress was only at our table to get our order and give us our check. I saw my order sitting in the window for sometime before it was brought to us. My nephew ordered a waffle with a side of bacon. The bacon looked dry and undesirable. My husband asked us a few days later where we wanted to go to breakfast and our answer was anywhere except the Griddle. read more

I had the breakfast burrito with hash browns , it was a waste of money , the hash browns at best was slightly warm (cold) and greasy , the burrito was suppose to have bacon in it but was under cooked and very little bacon had to unroll the burrito to see if it really had bacon in it , my wife had cold hash browns also. what a waste, I kept wondering why would I come back for this? We just ate at the Griddle and I want to get this over with while it's fresh in my mind. If the receipt had a number on it I'd enter it, but 9/29, 12:23 PM, and table 20/1 will have to do. We have a pretty long history with the Griddle, starting in 1970 in Winnemucca, NV. We always stopped there whenever we passed through and it was open. When it opened here in Nampa we were quite excited. Since then we've managed to eat there 1-2 times a month -- not heavy users, but pretty steady. We've liked the food, atmosphere and service. Today, however, not so much. My wife and I stopped there with three of our grandkids for breakfast/lunch. The place was busy but that's okay with me, I'll wait. Once we were seated we waited an inordinately long time for service. The server was okay -- not great, but okay. Then the real wait started. It took at least 30 minutes, probably more, before our food arrived. During this stretch some stuff happened: 1) My wife and I both drank our coffee cups dry and no one offered to refill them, even throughout our meal. 2) At least two tables around us, and which were seated after us, placed and were served their orders. Our wait person never stopped at our table during this time. Once our food was served I asked for Tabasco, which did not come until I asked another wait person passing by. We quickly became aware that ALL of our orders were served either lukewarm or downright cold. We talked about saying something but, since the restaurant was busy and we didn't want to make a fuss, we decided not to. I'm a pretty generous tipper, but this meal got my $5.00 minimum. Maybe sometime down the road we'll give The Griddle another try, but it'll be a while. I's been a favorite for us and I'm sorry to see this happen. read more

We have tried this place 3 times. The first time I ordered chicken Fried Steak which was terrible. The steak was thin and over cooked and the gravy tasted like glue. My husband ordered a basic ham, sunny side up eggs with side pancake and he was very pleased. Second visit I ordered an omelette that was just ok. The hash browns were perfect. The pancakes are delicious. Basic breakfast was again very good. Service was friendly but very slow both times. The third and last time both service and food were miserable. Restaurant was pretty full but not exceptionally busy. We were seated fairly quickly then ignored for at least 15 minutes or so while staff was chatting with each other, a friend at the counter etc. One of the waitresses was eating behind the counter which is not something I care to watch. I will say the inside of the restaurant is cute and very clean. From what I can see the kitchen also appears clean and kitchen staff wear gloves. We did notice that all along the outside parking area of the building there are overgrown weeds and garbage. This obviously doesn't impact the food but it makes you wonder what else is not taken care of. Service was extremely slow and I finally had to tell a manager we needed our check as we had been ignored by our waitress for over 20 minutes after finishing or I should say stopped eating food. My husband ordered the sausage patty and it was severely undercooked. He is not picky but even he wouldn't eat it. I had bacon inside of my dish so I decided to check it out. Sure enough I found several pieces that did not look cooked enough at all. It was a mixed bag some were fine. We can overlook one time of not so great service and an occasional not perfect meal but almost raw pork we won't be back. Also, as many others have said the prices are a bit high in comparison to other nearby breakfast restaurants. read more
