Stuck in traffic and headed to an event in the heart of downtown Denver, my friend and I pulled off to find a place to eat while the traffic died down. We found this place! Nice treat! Both the food and service were very good. I had the Cajun chicken sandwich which tasted so good, I ate the whole thing instead of just half, as originally intended. The sweet potato fries were nice and crispy, just how I like them. I ate every last one. My friend had the happy hour sliders, which she enjoyed, and a plate of shoestring fries, which were more than the two of us could've eaten (even if I had not already consumed an entire order of sweet potato fries all by myself). My only minor criticisms were these: when we walked in, there were two employees standing outside, right in front of the door, smoking cigarettes. Did not appreciate walking in through a cloud of cigarette smoke. The music was loud-ish, which was not my preference. However, it was not excessively loud for that type of bar/restaurant. Great happy hour menu, patio and staff! Ive had the black and blue, green chile, and jam burgers and they are everything I could want in a burger, the last one I have ordered the past two times. It wouldn't be fair to take away a star because this place has caused an uptick in my overall burger consumption, which isn't that much but still there is no doctor anywhere who is telling folks to increase hamburger intake so I won't do that. Sometimes I get really excited about an establishment and give it a good review only to be disappointed upon later visits. A nice Tavern in the DTC The griffin tavern was very interesting. I was meeting a friend from college and while I was waiting a man came up to me and asked if he could buy me a drink. I respectfully declined and when he left my waitress comes over and apologizes. Apparently he's a regular who's had a little too much to drink. With that, the atmosphere is friendly and they have several TVs available. They were playing the broncos game when I arrived. I got the pepper bacon cheese burger! They cook the burger to your liking and asked what kind of cheese I preferred! I also got a side of fries. I asked for a medium well burger and it was cooked perfectly! There was only two slices of bacon on the burger but still delicious! The fries we unsalted so I threw a little salt on them but they were still good! Griffins tavern is conveniently located at the Tech center so all the local office workers are definitely the target customers. It's pretty small but cozy and clean. We went there for lunch, and the place was about 75% full. I can see it getting pretty busy right after the work hours. Seems like a cool place to go for a happy hour with your co-workers as they have some good specials and a full bar menu. I had Caesar salad with shrimp, and I liked the fact that they serve caesar dressing on a side. Shrimp was yummy! Taking one star away as their online menu doesn't match the real one: they don't have salmon and portabello mushroom as the add-one anymore! Overall the food was better than we expected (the turn around was super fast too) so I would recommend this place for a lunch as well as the happy hour! read more

I hate writing negative reviews, but customers and management need to be aware of the service at this place. Visited on a Saturday, arriving right before noon (I think 11:53). Upon walking in, you could tell we were inconveniencing the bartender. It was awkward at first--she was prepping for the day and kept her back to the bar--but the longer we sat and the longer she made us wait, the more it was obvious she did not want us there: had to ask (walk to the bar and ask) to order drinks, had to ask to order food, had to ask to order refills (again, having to walk to the bar and ask). I'm a country boy, so I'm 100% okay helping myself and getting up and asking, but each time I got up to ask was all of us waiting for 10-15 minutes before asking in frustration. And I get it, I've worked in service, and Saturdays between/during holidays are a special kind of torture. But do your job. I don't need stellar service, I don't need you to smile, I don't want special treatment. But do your job. (In this case, I'd suggest she stay home.) The terrifying thing is I cannot imagine how long this would have taken had I not continually chased her down each time. What should have been a 30-minute family lunch turned into a depressing 75 minute ordeal. This is probably a great little bar/restaurant in the DTC area, but it's definitely not a place to visit early on Saturday. Maybe give them a couple hours to get going, then stop in. I will say this though: the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was very, very good, and I'd visit for this alone; I even want to give the place 3 stars for this little entree, but the service overwhelms the sandwich. Giving a 2/5 due to a general lack of customer service. The restaurant is very small, with great patio seating, the problem is if it rains they cant guarantee a spot inside which I get, but there should be a better solution other than "you will get wet and tough luck" I also noticed a sign that said they do not split checks after 8 people, which I find stupid haha my family alone is 10 people and we go almost everywhere together Also furniture can't be moved without "permission" Just overall very off putting, I hate feeling like they are doing me a favor lol But food smelled good Too bad for them that's not all I look for. read more

I met a friend at The Griffin Tavern for Happy Hour and was pleasantly surprised at the entire experience. The bar is located in an odd spot, behind Wendy's in the Denver Tech Center. It's very unassuming as you pull up to it, tucked into a small strip mall. However, once inside - it was hopping! Very busy at 4pm on a Monday. The Happy Hour is terrific (3-7pm)! 'Bites' from $4-$6 and $2 off drafts, wine and cocktails. Don't miss out on the dry ribs! Little salty pieces of heaven. Staff was super fun and attentive as well. Came for late night drinks with friends after work. We only grabbed a few beers and other adult beverages, but our waitress was very nice and put up with our loud bunch rather well. I'd also add, service was prompt even on refill drinks and she took care to bring us waters as well. There was no apparent enforcement for social distancing, but there may have been more tables previously. My only reference is an October visit. Having heard decent things about this spot for a while now, it was my suggestion to dine here after a late tee time. Our party of 5 arrived around 6Pm to a full house - with one massive booth/table available near the entrance/fireplace. We happily took our seats and was greeted by a friendly server who gladly took our drink orders - a round of beers - which took longer than anticipated to arrive. Shortly after, I realized I was NOT in the mood for beer, and quickly ordered a glass of crisp pinot. In the midst of waiting for our drinks, our server hurried over to take our food order. My husband and I opted for 2 orders of wings (bbq and buffalo) and split a side grilled Caesar salad with a side of fries - because I'm a fat kid at heart, while others in our party decided on various burgers. Having been a server in college, I know it's easy to get in the weeds (especially when busy) - and our poor server was no exception. Multiple people delivered our food, all at different times, with my salad taking the longest to arrive. Everything seemed a bit hectic and disorganized, but our meal arrived and was pretty good. Our wings were drenched in sauce (like we like), portions were large and the grilled salad had perfect char. The burgers proved to be pretty average, but editable nonetheless. Pricing is decent for what you get - which our ticket reflected, especially for our party of 5. Google Maps was correct, this time, and they indeed did have Cheese Curds on the menu. They went by another name, Golden Cheese Pillows. Not a big deal. I asked the Bartender if it was possible for me to get a half order. They said no. So I proceeded to get a full order, to go. Once they arrived, I opened the container just to confirm the order was correct. We are all human after all, mistakes happen. The order was correct, all was good. The Golden Cheese Pillows, aka Cheese Curds, tasted AMAZING! They are excellent quality. However, my dissatisfaction comes in the form of the sizes of the cheese curds. They were all small. Like i was eating more breading than cheese. Picture to follow. And, in my opinion, the portion could have been a little larger for the money spent. Good experience. (Mostly) Happy with said cheese curds. Hopefully this review is read by someone that can look into getting larger sized Golden Cheese Pillows from their food distributor. My girlfriend and I were in Denver for one day the other weekend and we were in need of something delicious. She said to look up the Denver Tech Center and we were lucky to find The Griffin Tavern. It's located in a very unassuming one story building. She said it was a place that got super crowded on weekdays, but we would probably find it not too busy on a weekend. And she was right. We entered to find a lightly busy establishment. With the weather being so nice we chose a table outside. It was kind of cool on the patio in the shade, but with a light jacket on, no problem. The menu was light, but still had an okay number of choices. I went with the Peppered Bacon Cheddar Burger. Sometimes there is nothing like a well done burger. And that is exactly what I got. The burger was juicy, with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, cheddar cheese, and what I felt was the star of the show. . . peppered bacon. Everything was in just the right ratio to make it a memorable burger. And the shoestring French fries were what I would call "crisps". With many fries you can have a crunchy outside and then the "meat" of the potato inside. But these fries were crisps all the way through. And I ate them up!! Dipped in ketchup they were awesome! Our beverage of choice was the Griffin Lemonade (44 North Huckleberry Vodka, fresh lemon juice and triple sec). Refreshed with a just enough vodka to let you know it's there without young to knock you out. Wonderful! I couldn't have asked for more and will definitely go back on my next trip back. read more

Wow! Such a delicious spot to enjoy a meal and of course some drinks! My family was meeting us for dinner and they snagged the last table on a Tuesday night around 6:30. Despite the full house, our waitress was very attentive and quick to get our drink orders in. The drinks were all great and we even got a free one as they accidentally brought a different drink initially. We tried the candied bacon and the fried cheese curds! They were both delicious and I'd even recommend putting some of the sauce for the curds on the bacon- nice salty sweet combo. For mains we all opted for various burgers including the jam burger, bleu burger and the regular cheeseburger. My burger was perfectly cooked with fresh ingredients and a nicely toasted bun. The waffles sweet potatoes fries are killer and they did a great job with our request for them to be extra crispy. All food came out quickly! Everyone scarfed down their burgers with pleasure and we had a second round of drinks. Our waitress checked on us a few times to make sure drinks were filled and everything was swell. Overall this was both a great meal and a great casual atmosphere to have a drink and catch up. I can see why they were full on a Tuesday night!
