Burning man w. Onion rings
Edgar Z.

This place rocks! We came after a softball game and they had enough room for the whole team, parents and siblings. We sat and played games while we drank some local brews and waited for our food. The staff was very kind and patient, I can only imagine the stress that comes from all of us being there, hungry, thirsty and loud. The food was great and plenty, I couldnt finish my dinner and I'm not a small man. I love that I have left overs. If you're in the neighborhood, this is the place to be. I hope I'm back during the summer bc they have a backyard with outdoor games and a brick built bbq.

Pulled pork was delicious!! I love the onion rings they were very crunchy and savory. Quick service we were seated immediately. This is a bar but also has arcade games for the kids. My partner loved the tomato soup! Love the vibes.

I came here midday just before they were moving from breakfast to lunch. I quickly scanned the breakfast menu but actually had a hankering for a Cheesesteak sandwich. I paired that with a cup of their delicious tomato basil soup. I'd come back just for more of that...! Maybe pair it with a grilled cheese next time. The Cheesesteak was okay. Lots of gristle and tough fat that I had to pull from my mouth, but the overall flavor was decent. The service was steady and the inside looks just about the same as it did when it was still the Hamdog's restaurant. Long bar, gambling machines and about 15 or more tables.

We went there tonight and there was barely anyone there which was nice. We ordered, onion rings and fried pickles for appetizers. Its 30 minutes for those to come out. 3 other families were sat after us. My husband ordered fish and chips and I ordered the BBQ bacon wrap. An hour after sitting down all the families were given their food before us. We asked how much longer and they told us that they just got a big online order and they were doing that first then they would start on ours. I told them to cancel it. Everyone was served before us that were sat after us and we didn't want our food any longer. I thought this place was great before. The service is horrible now. The waitress had a major attitude from the get go. I just checked my bank account and turns out the waitress gave herself a $20 tip. Our bill was 31.60 and we were charged 51.60. She stole from us. I will be reaching out to them as soon as they open today.UPDATE: I talked to the manager ans she says everything went through as the original amount. I have included pic of the receipt and the pending charge. UPDATE: I talked to the manager ans she says everything went through as the original amount. It definitely was tricky to find once the sun went down but the parking lot was full of cars which helped give clues to the location. It was pretty full which was a good sign upon arriving. Turns out they were having DJ Trivia that same night on the other side of the restaurant so little by little people appeared to trickle over. The staff were attentive and friendly. I went the "healthier" route and ordered a chicken cesar wrap and a while after learned that they ran out of tortillas so I had to go with a salad. Which was fine, I just found it interesting that it took 15 minutes to learn this. The waitress comped my soda so that was nice. The menu is abundant with lots of options. I now know that if there is not a sign and it look like the place is out of business that's usually a winner. I did enjoy the large flavorful salad and my friend enjoyed her burger. Nice to be able to explore the Gardnerville area at the same time.

What a wonderful hole in the wall kind of spot for great service and affordable yummy food! The biscuits were toasted and scrumptious as was the gravy. My omelette was so fluffy and filled with veggies. We'll be back!

The Grill Next Door is a Gardnerville staple. The staff are always nice and attentive and the owners are also awesome. I love that it has an arcade/game area and a full bar. It's a great place for family and a great place to hangout and enjoy some delicious food. Most recently I tried the cheese steak and it was delicious! We haven't tried breakfast yet but hopefully soon, the menu looks amazing.

We got here right at 9. Lots of locals. The tables were clean and our server was hurrying and working hard to make everyone happy. The place is big with a full bar. Everyone was happy with the food and delicious Bloody Mary's. I had the basic breakfast. Eggs, bacon, potatoes and wheat bread. It was perfect!

The place was quite when we got here. We were the only people here, 3:00 on a Saturday afternoon. They were playing good music. Our waitress was nice. Their menu is limited, burgers, grilled cheese, and some sandwiches. The burger was good. The fries were hot and fresh. It took a longer amount time considering we were the only customers there.

So I have this little belief that has so far been proven right... If a brewery has food, it's good food. And honestly, I can say that this keeps that belief up. My burger and fries were SPECTACULAR, and any chance to eat beer cheese is a good time for me. Also, my mom with her gluten allergy, said that throughout her years of terrible gluten free alternatives, this one was the most amazing, tasty, and was hard to believe it wasn't full of gluten, but somehow it was, and it was awesome! We sat outside, and they have a nice seating area, a lot of games in a grassy area and a few others scattered around, as well as a fire pit to give it a chill atmosphere Staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and honestly made a really good impression on us before we even started talking. All that to say... To management, you WILL be seeing us again, I don't care how, we will be coming back.

And we brought some Bay Area friends with us. We also came in mid-week to avoid any crowd potential. Our evening began at the bar with a round of Picon Punch, the official drink of the State of Nevada. I first thought that this was a drink that you only ordered once, but this small glass of goodness actually grew on us. After closing the bar bill and looking at all the branded merchandise, it was off to the main dining room. We chose the Basque Family Style side of the menu, which at the end of the evening resulted in number of take home containers. Our 4 choices were Basque Chicken, Fish, Lamb Shoulder, and Lamb Chops. Those came with Vegetable Soup, Salad, Beef Stew, Beans, French Fries, Bottle of Red Wine, Coffee, and Ice Cream. for the Table. These inclusive choices were priced just south of $40 and that's what the bill was at the end of the evening, as there were no extras needed. OK, the included wine was a little on the sweet side, but we didn't see the need to "upgrade" as we were too busy concentrating on the food. It was all good, especially the Soup and the French Fries. The only regret was not being here on the night they served Huckleberry Ice Cream, but our Vanilla or Pistachio Almond was good enough. JT Basque is family generation owned, and we certainly felt welcome and well taken care of. The rustic decor was also cool, as was the happy energy in the dining room. We promise to come back and not be strangers.

Their salad wraps are huge, fresh, and delicious. Much like the rest of the food on their out-of-the-ordinary menu. One word of caution, if you go when the dining room is not busy, you might be better off sitting in the bar. The waitress stays mostly in there, and dining room service can be painfully slow. Otherwise, I highly recommend this longtime neighborhood favorite!

I checked this place out in the afternoon before deciding to go to dinner there. It looked pretty casual in the menu look like something everybody would enjoy. When we got there, we were greeted nicely and our server, JC, was very nice. All of the food was bountiful. We ordered the appetizer with three different items which was pretty good. It was onion rings, fried zucchini, and fried mozzarella sticks. The zucchini was a little undercooked. On to the main courses. It took longer than we would think and they brought it out in pieces. The two men got theirs first and my daughter and I got hers a few minutes later and Grandma was served last. Grandpa ordered a steak sandwich and he said it was good. My husband ordered a Philly cheese steak, which she said was decent. Grandma ordered fish and chips and she said it was so so. The french fries were thick steak type that were really good. A couple of us tried them. My daughter and I were excited when we saw the lobster tacos and we ordered them. The chips that came with them were salty beyond belief! We could not even eat them. When I told JC, she said there's nothing they could do about the chips and she offered to take the salad off the bill which I thought was nice. Both of my daughter and I could not eat the chips. The lobster tacos were not good. If the corn tortillas were warmed or cooked, it must've been very, very little. The lobster was chopped up in a wait and mixed with some kind of sauce that we can barely taste the lobster. We got two tacos and barely ate one. We took them home, but it didn't seem worth it to try to mend this. The best thing I can say is that the people they were very welcoming and pleasant. Also, JC gave my father-in-law a lemon bar for his birthday as we walked out. That was really sweet. Lastly, make sure you bring cash because you have to pay extra for using a card. We have to pay over $6 extra because we used a card. Am I understanding is that is happening a lot in restaurants. So, I don't think this is unusual.

The tacos were the best of the lot . These were happy hour appetizers . I have been in the restaurant business most of my life and I am 65 now . Sorry to be harsh , but it was a total disappointment . Because I have been serving food most of my life , I also hate to complain. But the more I think about it , ya'll should fix it . I was trying to figure out what you actually did to the egg plant that made it that way? But again, service was awesome . I read rest of reviews , someone said they are opening in Reno. You should seriously get your shiz together before you try that or you may lose everything . You have many 5 star reviews, but wonder if they are friends or drinking heavily, the bad reviews are all pretty consistent . Seriously, would love to see more wonderful options in this area , would like to see you succeed . But to charge high prices and not fix what needs to be , is not good to open somewhere else . I will say I noticed little woman in the back , was kind of wondering if she was doing things properly sanitation wise . Looked a little iffy. But have noticed a couple reviews on that. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. They also offer specialty coffees, Italian sodas, and an impressive selection of desserts, making it hard to leave without a treat! The restaurant is charmingly decorated and has a cozy feel.
