Waited too long for a sever. Had to go to the bar twice and still had to wait. Luckily a group of four was leaving so they gave us their table and finally someone realized we weren't approached. Toss up between 2 and 3 starts. Went there about 1pm on a Sunday and the menu was in place till 3, we were looking for lunch food and it was a minimal brunch menu. It is a cute place and the service was great but the food is underwhelming. I had a burger that I believe to be your run of the mill thin frozen burger with a piece of orange cheese on top. I asked for the $2 addition of avocado and was given 4 tiny strips that covered about 1/4 of the meat. Is there an avocado shortage? Also, I don't eat buns and they told me they would bring me lettuce to wrap it in but it was the thinest of pieces of lettuce, everything just dripped and ripped through it. It is 2019... gluten free menus are pretty standard fare. Another person in the party had the chicken and biscuits which looked very impressive but was lacking flavor to match how nice it looked. Go over and eat at the Crystal Beer Palace...that is how food is cooked and served! The burgers are cheaper and meaty and delicious. Go there. If you want a drink in the attractive bar area with lovely ambiance I think you will do fine or just understand that the food is not super. I see a lot of the reviews are for a roof bar and night activity... maybe they just don't do day stuff that well. read more

came to this place with hopes of having a final tourist dinner, we got seated by a nice lady and ordered our food with her. two members of my family ordered a steak that had a price stated as "Market Price". after we finished eating we got our check and saw that the steak was $40 each we decided to talk to the manager who said the market price changes every shipment. i asked him twice why not place the shipment price on the menu when you get it and he just answered with "it changes everyday". we later said that we will never step foot in the restaurant and the manager gave no fucks. the managers didn't try to resolve the conflict and just seemed like he didn't want us there at all. our last day on vacation was ruined because of the poor service from this restaurant. read more

Was looking for a fresh place to eat to change up the usual and hadn't been here before. Disappointed honestly. Brioche bun was stale and was soggy due to this. Slightly underwhelming fries for the price, tasted good though. Strange vibe also, fancy interior but really casual wait staff. I didn't appreciate being handed the bill whist only having finished half my food, wasn't asked if I wanted dessert either. I felt rushed to get in and out quickly. 4.5/5 for food but overall I think they could improve with the way they go about waitstaff. read more

Good food and service was overshadowed by the noise. The sound issue seems to be intentional - cement floors and open ceilings are spacious and beautiful, but sounds reverberate all around. We had a cocktail that was refreshing, and delicious salads with chicken. As good as the food was, we rushed through dinner to get away from the noise. Would recommend this place to a younger crowd out for a night of fun, but not a place for a quiet, relaxing dinner. read more

I will NEVER dine in here EVER again. 1. More than two people wanted a steak, she tells us oh we only have two left. 2. It took us about TWO HOURS to receive our food. They didn't bring everyone's food at the same time only one entree at a time. 3. The waitress gave us attitude when we asked for to go boxes three times. 4. The waitress acted completely out character with a paying customer. 5. We were the last group of people in the restaurant to receive our food and it was NOT the best. The waitress PAULINE gave us attitude just about the entire time we were there. The manager was not any help in any situation. She appeared at the table one time and wanted no dealings with us after that. The kicker was the woman at the bar came over to our table and basically told us they were closing so, we were going to have to leave. It was only 10:30 p.m., they closed at 12 a.m. We paid and left. She locked the door behind us and the manager opened the door back up once we walked out of the door. Racism still exist and will NOT be tolerated under any circumstances! I will never patronize this restaurant ever again! The service we received was absolutely uncalled for. And, I will be calling CORPORATE. read more

We had 7:30 reservations on a Friday night. Walked in at 7:25 and we were seated immediately. Service was slow. Drinks took a little longer than I'd like. Appetizers were quick and delicious. Second rounds of drinks took a while. Main course was good. We had the Landry and Nashville chicken. Both were delicious but the Nashville chicken was pretty spicy. Menu should have indicated the spicy level. Very clean restaurant and good atmosphere but it is a loud space when occupancy is high. read more

Chose to try The Grove on our visit to Savannah. While the food was good and the service just alright This establishment has to decide if they are a club or a restaurant. The music was so loud and booming that one could not even shout at their companions to be heard. The experience was unbearable and as we left we discouraged some curious diners outside to look elsewhere. Management - please grow up and listen to your patrons--that is if you have any hearing left ! read more

Great atmosphere. Okay drinks/food. Lacking service. Went up to the rooftop bar and was very impressed by the view and decor. We ordered drinks at the bar and took them to the tables outside to look at the view more. Unfortunately, after one sip, the wind took one of our drinks and destroyed the glassware. Our waitress was nice enough to offer making another drink. That's where our good experience ended. From that point on it was a waiting game for the drink to be remade. Small plates came out, still no drink. I didn't want to drink my own without my guy having anything, so we both just sat there frustrated. Our waitress kept coming around saying the drink was being made, but every time she said it (around 5 times total), we believed her a little less. We ended up waiting 45 minutes for the drink to be remade. I'm sorry, but there is no acceptable excuse for why one drink took that long. We were really rooting for this place to be good, but I doubt we'll come back next time we visit Savannah. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Zero is too high. Long postbut important...I, alongwith about 8 others, dined at the Grove restaurant last night for my nieces birthday. We arrived at 7 per our reservation and was seated. When we got there there were only about 2 other parties already seated. Our entire party arrived soon after 7 and our drink and appetizer orders were taken. When we were ready to place our order, about 7:30 we were told by our server, Paulina, who already seemed "out of it" for the night, that "we would have to chose who was getting steaks because there were only 2 left." Not to be dampened, we chose and moved on. After ordering, we waiting for very close to 2 hours to receive any food and was told by our server that the restaurant was very behind for the night. Let me point out that we arrived and ordered before many other parties even showed up and they all had food at this point. Still not to be in a bad mood on a special occasion we let it go. Our sever came back out and offered free appetizers for our wait and we agreed to get fries. She then came back out and said she could not do fries but could give us free shots. We ordered those and continued to wait for our food. After about 10 more minutes one steak came out with nothing else. Several minutes later other plates came out one at a time with parts of the order wrong. We, once again took this and kept smiling. Despite the AC dripping water in food and our party, we ate our subpar food and waited for our cake to arrive to the table. The manger did come over after we called for her and explained that "if you eat in Savannah you're bound to get wet from condensation." I've never dealt with that but ok. After the cake came out we asked for boxes from the bartender who informed us that they were out of boxes. Our server brought us one check and left it on the table and walked off after asking if we'd like boxes. She looked at us crazy when we told her they were apparently out and brought us one out for my food. We never received boxes for the cake to be split but did get the box for the whole cake. My niece, who was celebrating her birthday, once again asked for boxes and the server said, "I'll get you what you want, just lose the attitude." Not once did my niece raise her voice or show any "attitude". At this point I am VERY upset and for those of you that know me, know that I'm not usually upset or rowdy in any way. Once we got our checks back and finally some boxes from the bartender (our server never came back) we were told that we would need to leave because the restaurant was closing. We finally threw our hands up and prepared to leave. When walking out the door we noticed on the door that the sign said closing time was midnight. It was only 10:30 at this point. When we mentioned the blatant lie to the bartender she said, while locking the door behind us, "manger's discretion." Moments later while we were still outside in pure shock from the experience the manager unlocked the door. This tells me we were not welcomed and it was not the mangers discretion to close the restaurant but her discretion to close the restaurant for us. I have never in my life been treated so poorly especially in a restaurant and have surely never been kicked out of any establishment especially after already being treated like pure trash. I will never give the Grove another brown cent of my money and would highly recommend no one doing so either. After reading several reviews I've noticed a trend when it comes to service like this from this place and sadly it seems to be people that look like me. The owner or whomever is responsible for responding to posts seems to reply to all reviews and is great at making excuses for the behavior that his employees display. Please miss me with it unless there is a true solution. I am appalled that this happened and literally left infuriated. read more

The Nashville Hot Chicken was great. Service was terrible. The server brought drinks, took orders, and never (not once) came back to the table until it was time to pay the bill. We had to get up, track people down. The hostess had to check on an order that was wrong. I feel like our server ignored us because she could automatically add gratuity to our large party. The Grove is just down the street from the fine art gallery where I work. We order lunch often; (trying to stay on Keto) bacon wrapped scallops (no sauce), fried brussel sprouts (no balsamic glaze), the Ridgewood burger (no bread).I met a friend there last night and had the Hot Nashville (so not Keto!) and great Greygoose cocktail, and she had the chicken thyme dish and a perfectly chilled rose, both were great (i will now have non keto food dreams about that damn good fried chicken!!!). I feel very comfortable sending my customers to this restaurant for great food and a panoramic rooftop view of our city. read more

I think this spot should be on people's radar for southern cuisine. I had a craving for fried okra and searched the area. Many of the traditional southern restaurants did not have that much of interest on the menu and were much more expensive. We stumbled upon The Grove and were very pleasantly surprised. The space is bright and open. The food comes out quick. The drinks are good. There is a fried okra appetizer that provides a new twist on a traditional fare (with full chunks and ranch dressing). There is also stir fry with either chicken and shrimp and okra. Anyway, the Grove is a good spot for traditional American fares with a modern twist. read more

From the outside, this place looked awesome. Great decor and the food was awesome! The downfall, prepare to be waiting 3 hours to get acknowledge, get drinks, order taken, and checks. Even an extra plate we asked for and never got. Clearly a new waitress. Or waitresses. We were informed chips and gauc was all gone after 45 min. Nice owner, but once he showed up.. we never saw him again. Very disappointing. They have potential but have a lot to learn. A lot. We had a great meal here. Friendly staff, varied menu and it is really nice inside. Bright white, clean and comfortable. The large bar in the middle of the downstairs seems like a great place to have a drink before dinner. We had young adults to seniors in our party and all were happy with their meala. Great food. After my third visit I think it's time I give this place a rating. First visit was absolutely amazing! Clean and welcoming environment, the server was bubbly and full of energy. He addressed all questions to the best of his knowledge. The food (Chicken sandwich and fries) was prepared fresh and fast, and was very delectable. Second visit was ok. The server (same guy) was not as attentive as it appeared he had too many tables. Took forever to bring out drink order, which should always be first up. Had to ask repeatedly for requested food items - very forgetful. I order that same as my very visit (Chicken sandwich and fries) but it was not all that great. The meal was room temperature as if it had been sitting in the window. Third visit I order a blackened shrimp salad and a drink (water) concurrently. The glass came with faint color lipstick as if it had gone through a washer, but was not completely clean. I sat for about 45mins before my SALAD came. I didn't know there was much to lettuce, bacon bites and shrimp. That was a little annoying considering it was my lunch break and when I got there, there was only a total of seven guest seated. Not to mention the people who came in 10-15 mins after me received their food (cooked) before me. Again, same server seem to be all over the place. This time I wanted to ask if he was ok considering the huge difference-but I didn't. the salad was ok, but I would definitely suggest a variety of lettuce not just a plate full of red leprechaun (purple lettuce). that has an acquired taste and everyone may not be used to it, especially if it was described. Overall the restaurant has great potential. A few tweaks and you guys are well on it's way. there is a lot of competition in Savannah with well know, established restaurants. I've visited this restaurant 3 time within 2 months and the service has gone down each time. Listen to you customer feedback they are who will keep you guys going. read more

We watched the Grove being built over the course of two years, it seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. They must've gone way over budget based on my knowledge in construction. It amazes me that all of the money and time that went into getting this restaurant open the best they could do is have a menu that is so limited and straight out of a bar in 1986. The outside of the building is not kept up with and the service is absolutely deplorable. I'm betting that the place is out of business within the next six months. They have a sandwich board out front that says "free soft drink with a trolley ticket",if that's your strategy for succeeding in the restaurant business in Savannah, Georgia-good luck. read more

Major props to the kitchen staff for preparing such delicious, individually catered meals. On the other hand, our service was beyond poor. As a server myself, I understand how hectic Saturday nights can be, but being entirely neglected is unacceptable. This was my mother and I's last night in Savannah and we were hoping for a chance to sit down and enjoy a nice dinner without having to scream at one another. My Family and I were on our way to Hilton Head for a vacation decided to stop for lunch in Savannah before we headed that way......all 13 of us...a very loud....fun....energetic group. We asked a local where we could go that was open air since the weather was beautiful and this was her recommendation. Lumpy the bartender was great and our waiter was wonderful....the place was clean, progressive, the food and drinks were good. We were seated right away and the party of 13 was served timely which is not always easy.....food was very good, my niece and I split a few appetizers and all were very tasty. read more

Wow! Savannah has a lot of great restaurants, but this one is amazing. Had lunch there today with some co-workers. Sampled several dishes, all of which were delicious, but the prime rib mac and cheese was truly inspiring. The atmosphere was laid back and fun. Service was stellar. Did not get a chance to try out the roof top bar, but I will definitely be back to do so. I am a concierge at a downtown hotel and recommend restaurants all the time. Possibly one of the worst meals I've ever had in a restaurant. From the brick of charcoal called a hamburger to the cold macaroni and cheese nothing was edible. No one in our group finished their meals because they were just plain horrible. Go there for the drinks but eat elsewhere. read more

We heard about The Grove from the driver on the trolley tour we were on so we made a 7:30 p.m. reservation for 6 people on a Monday night. When we arrive the hostess seemed surprised that we showed up. We then had to wait for them to set up our table and there were plenty of tables. The restaurant was extremely warm and it took 20 minutes to get our drinks and the waiter never came back to take our order for dinner. They have no beer on tap and one person in our party wanted a peach martini and was told they could not make one. We ended up just getting the check for the cocktails and leaving to have dinner elsewhere. read more
