Charming restaurant in Roberts Creek with good food, friendly service and a beautiful garden with outdoor seating. I loved my Budha bowl which was full of fresh steamed greens. My sister enjoyed her brisket burger and we both loved the oven baked sweet potato fries. We sat on the patio and enjoyed our lunch.

Nice little place that's a short walk from the Roberts Creek Pier. They've got a lot of choices on their menu and we settled on a Bombay Bowl & their burger special of the day - The Babushka with two pierogis in the burger. The bowl was pretty good - the tomato chutney it came with was awesome. I like that the bowls come in two different sizes. Pretty steep price for the small bowl, though. The burger was phenomenal. Pierogi or not, the burgers here are worth the try if you're looking for a good juicy and flavourful one. The baked potato wedges were cooked to perfection.

We came here to stop for lunch while in Roberts Creek. I would say that it is a typical Canadian food restaurant. I got the poutine and R got the burger. I felt that the poutine had too much oil and saucy and was a little too heavy for my liking. R quite enjoyed his burger and I did like the wedge fries that came with his meal. Overall, not bad.

Went for breakfast with my husband and we were both delighted with our choices. I had the Buddha Benny, 2 perfectly poached eggs on a lentil and beet patty sitting atop a bed of tender kale and other veggies. Delish. My husband had the breakfast burrito stuffed with potato, egg, loads of brilliant veggies and an aioli and salsa on the side. Recommend.

Walking into the Gumboot Cafe with the lights and trees it was kind of dreamy looking and we were pretty sure we were in for a treat! When I told a work colleague we were going to Roberts Creek for a couple of days he said we should check this place out! I always like going to a new place on a recommendation. The restaurant seemed like it was filled with locals which we took as a good sign. We were seated without a wait even without a reservation. I ordered the Flank Steak and a Hasselback Potato with Brussels Sprouts. The plate came out and it looked beautiful. The Brussels sprouts were definitely the star of the plate, seasoned perfectly and slightly smoky in flavour. However the steak and potato fell a little short for me. The Hasselback Potato needed to be crispier and tastier. The steak unfortunately was a bit on the chewy side and as with the potato was lacking in flavour. The Brussel Sprouts were perfect though! My husband ordered the Chorizo Burger with curry seasoned fries. This burger was AMAZING! The depth of flavour was so good...the spice from the Chorizo, the acidity of the Pickled Onion, the sharpness of the White Chedder, smokiness of the bacon all combined to be delicious! My husband devoured the burger and decided it might be the best burger he has ever had! We had a great evening and great service...would recommend this place when in the area!

Burger with cheese, housemade fries. Burger was excellent.

Charming place nestled in Gibsons right next to a growing farm and garden. We walked in on Saturday night around 6:30pm with no reservation but thankfully it was not busy and were seated right away. It's a small cozy place with tables set close together, some outdoor seating and a nice yard area. Even with the restaurant half full, it was LOUD, so I can imagine what it must be like on a busy night or with live music. The front of the menu boasts where all the ingredients come from (local, organic) which is appreciated. I decided for the Buddha bowl which comes with a variety of veggies, brown rice, tofu and avocado. You can add other protein like chicken, salmon, prawns for a surcharge. The base bowl is $18 which is pricey for what it is, but it was indeed delicious. My partner got the burger which housemade fries. The burger was excellent, one of the best homemade burgers I've tasted in a long time. The fries were thick cut wedges, not nearly as good as the burger. Service was spotty, not sure why since they weren't too busy. All in all, a tasty meal, about $50 before tip for 2 people with one beer. You're paying for quality here.

They have some bar-height tables made out of some barrels - I would not sit here. Service Quality: Staff was attentive and knew the menu well. They recommend getting a wide variety of dishes since it is tapas. Menu Variety: Great selection of spanish tapas. There's fish, meat, seafood, veggies - there is something for everyone. You won't find the lesser known tapas here - just the main popular ones we all know. Food Presentation: Simple, nothing crazy here. Plated with intention. Food Taste and Quality: Food came to the table hot and fresh out of the kitchen. Some of the patatas bravas were a bit undercooked - for me there was a bit too much sauce here. They also have the shishito peppers here - even though 1 out of 10 are spicy, it was more like 5 out of 10 were spicy. Luckily they were all grilled to perfection. The cod fritters were great, would order again. Portion Sizes: You'll need to order at least 5 dishes for a table of 2. Drink Selection: Simple cocktail menu with a spanish twist to them - if you really want to call it a "spanish cocktail". Price and Value: Good value for money, priced just right. Overall Experience and Recommendation: Make sure you make a reservation cause if not you'll be waiting and by the time you look for another restaurant for dinner - everything will be closed (cause its Bowen Island). I tried it, I would try the other restaurants on the island first before coming back.

Spanish tapas style, we ordered about 6 dishes and bread and we were pretty full. Also sangria. Food was fantastic, everything we ordered had so much flavor, my favourite was the orzo salad and the shrimp. A little surprise that Bowen Island had this little gem. Due to Covid protocols only patio was open, which worked fine for us, also set up socially distance. Great service. Recommend you making reservation, we didn't but came right when they opened lucked out with a table. It got pretty busy 15 minutes after we arrived. Overall, I was very impressed. We will be back!

I heard about this place on a podcast (ITM) and wanted to go to a celebratory dinner somewhere new…read more The drive to Blaine was super easy, the location is convenient, and there is ample parking. There is definitely at least one back room, but the main dining room is a bright, airy space that has access to a patio where may even be some live music playing. The tables are gorgeous - all live edge, which might create a bit of an issue if you have short arms and are used to stealing bites across the table, but they are absolutely beautiful and a nice nod to the area. The wine list is extensive and a bit overwhelming, but the service is happy, friendly, and very knowledgeable. In fact, I love when servers don't know, admit it, and find the answer for you - it's humble and shows they really care at getting you what you want. We got the orange wine, which is a new favorite of mine. It's like a rose for reds. Rose:White::Orange:Red. More savory, still light, and best chilled. We had the beet hummus app, which is definitely best eaten with your hands. It's light and delicious. We had the miso black cod, a personal favorite, and the lasagna for dinner and while both were good, the accoutrements with the cod were the true standout. Amazing and I could probably eat two of them. As the restaurant operates on a seasonal menu, we had a strawberry rhubarb cobbler for dessert. I know there is Sunday Brunch, and I can't wait to try it. It's not the cheapest, but it's one of the nicer restaurants in Whatcom, and is definitely worth your pennies. Everything about it makes for a truly nice experience, and we'll definitely be back.
