You pull to this location and think "dang, this line is packed". Well fret not, because it goes by rather quickly. The employees were kind, and straight to the point. They made everything smooth and fast. We ordered onion rings, 2 OG pastrami sandwiches, and 1 pastrami burger. Boy oh boy have I waited way too long to return to the hat. The Pastrami was super fresh, the onion rings fresh out of the fryer, and the burger topped with loads of pastrami! Always a treat when we come to the hat. Here's a tip. The large orders of the sides are VERY LARGE, should be extra large. The small orders compared, are about Medium-Large size portions. 3 of us shared 1 small order of onion rings and still had a few leftover. So, wasn't impressed the first time around as I thought the Pastrami dip was dry and regretted not getting mustard on the side. This time I asked for au jus on the side and made all the difference. The bread was fresh, pastrami tender and flavorful, the pickles and mustard popped, and the au jus on the side really added to the experience. This sandwich is huge .. they start with a white soft roll stuff it full of pastrami, yellow mustard, pickles. Heaven! I was heading to Vegas on the 15N and got stuck in some pretty bad late afternoon traffic...So I decided to pull off and get something to eat because I hadn't eaten all day and traffic was ridiculous! I came across this place in the area and it sounded pretty good. Turns out the line for the drive through (which I was surprised it had) was wrapped all the way around the parking lot! I could barely park because there were so many cars in line blocking the street and parking lot. I decided to skip that line and go inside and it was pretty crowded in there as well. The line went quick though and I ordered pastrami with avocado on sourdough and it was made/ready amazingly quick! Let me tell you..it was absolutely delicious and it really hit the spot. I had to take a pic and tell a few friends and family about it too I timed it perfectly because when I got back on the freeway, things were moving! I would say it's a craving place that can only be satisfied by the one and only Hat. It's not necessarily quality food, but you can't get the specific taste and feel anywhere else, giving it a niche in the food market. The pastrami is the star. Let me just say that you will have a hard time finding a place that matches this one! The fries are really really good and everything you can hope for. It's the perfectly cooked meat and have some banana peppers on the side and that's the perfect combo. I love that most of these establishments that I go to have pictures on the wall that date back and the dining room itself stays true to its era. If I could give zero stars I would. I ordered a pastrami dip, large fry and a turkey burger with mustard. The pastrami was the first thing i mentioned and when i got to the window all i received was the turkey burger and fry. I asked about the pastrami and they stated they didn't charge me for it. I paid for the pastrami and received it, but not before I was given attitude at the window. I got all the way home and my turkey burger was nothing but a patty & bun. No lettuce, tomato or pickles. Instead they charged me extra for pickles i wanted on my burger. To top it off, my fries were cold and hard like they had been sitting there.
