Came here by sheer luck with my partner. We were looking for a place to eat after a little home shopping, and it turned out to be such a pleasant surprise... tbh I didn't expect to enjoy our meals as much as we did! The lovely host at the counter knew her dishes and helped us make a selection. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich, and he had the salmon roll (easily one of the best sandwiches he's had in a while). Everything was flavorful, fresh, and just really well done. (We overheard the chef talking with another guest about how everything is made from scratch in house using the freshest ingredients, and you can truly taste the difference). We went here after seeing a Tiktok of the food and it looked amazing. The Yelp reviews looked great too, but unfortunately, we didn't find the actual food here to be anything like 4+ star worthy. We came here on a Friday night, around 7pm, not crowded at all, service was great, and pricing was fair. I ordered their classic cheeseburger and my GF got their Thai beef steak sandwich. The only thing we really have to say is that both were simply just lacking in any flavor whatsoever. The patty in the burger simply had little to no flavor and the same thing can be said to the Thai beef sandwich. I will say their fries were cooked/fried well, but it also lacked any seasoning whatsoever. I honestly wanted to ask for a bit of salt to flavor both my burger and fries. While all the other ingredients appears to be fresh and portion sizes were average, the simple lack of flavor to the patty made me want to get a burger at any other burger joint. Hills kitchen was a decent little burger spot, they have some fun option on the menu so if you want a burger fix it go for it. They have seating inside and out so you can enjoy the open space and vibes of this spot. The service was good, they were answered my questions and made sure the food gout out in a good time. The burgers were ok, my wife and I usually base our decision of the food on if we can do it better at home.for me the flavors were not there, the burger patties just did not have great seasoning and the sweet potato fries were really soggy. We ended up toasting them up in our oven at home and they were better. I would give the spot 3 1/2 stars to be honest , there is still so much to try off the menu and many people there were enjoying the food so there is something there . First off, I have to say the West Side Burger here was amazing. It was a prime example of how a western bacon cheeseburger should be with just the right touch of bbq sauce, the right amount of bacon, and the right stack of onion rings on it. Every bite was a joy. Even the fries were damn good. And the service was spot-on, with everyone super nice and interested in making sure my meal went off without a hitch. I think everyone here was super keen on being there and helpful. I think the problems I had were to do with the atmosphere. The inside dining room is rather small with only a handful of tables and a small counter on the other side. You could barely fit in 15-18 folks inside. Aside from that, their soda fountain machine was disabled and no timetable given for its return. Instead, you had to order from cans of soda. Both of these make any meal there for me uncomfortable and not relaxing. I hate being anxious of showing up and having no inside seats available as well as trying to decide if I need an extra can or two with my meal, which would require an extra trip to the counter to purchase. I don't need that kind of worry when I'm trying to relax with my meal. Yes, it might be my own issues that someone else might not have a problem with. But to me these are huge cons that made me think this burger joint will not be a frequent haunt. If anything, I might check in on them and see if the soda issue is fixed since the indoor dining issue is less likely to be addressed. It's just a shame that these couldn't have been addressed before my visit. read more

I'm glad I finally tried this little hidden gem. I went with the Thai Beef Steak sandwich and upgraded my side to the truffle fries. The fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly with truffle and Parmesan. The sandwich is similar to a banh mi. It was filled with plenty of steak, cucumber, carrots, and cilantro. It was topped with a flavorful ginger dressing. You order at the counter, and if you are eating in, they bring your order to your table. They have a few indoor tables and also seating outside in the covered patio area. I also recommend getting one of the craft sodas they have on tap. The Pineapple cream soda hit the spot. read more

I haven't been here since my first review in 2022 but I have always wanted to come back and I did yesterday. With that being said, everything was delicious. The truffle Parm fries are amazing. Excellent flavor and just the perfect amount of crispy. I got the hills burger and although I didn't get a lot of the gorgonzola flavor, the patty was seasoned nicely and the bacon and mushroom and the hills sauce was delicious. I love the hills kitchen burger they have here. Service is a little slow. But they have only 1 guys running the cash register taking orders, dropping off the food and cleaning the tables. So if they get busy, that guy is running around extremely busy!! Sitting outside in the shaded area is really nice. Just you get the exhaust and fumes from some of the cars at the drive thru of Del Taco. The hills kitchen burger is amazing! High quality ingredients. Even the bun is amazing. The patry is thick and juicy. The sauces are amazing and pairs well with the entire burger. The truffle fries are super crispy and you definitely get the truffle flavor. They did get rid of the actual sodas for the soda fountain. And replaced it with other carbonated drinks. The cherry and other one was good. But the root beer had no flavor what so ever. The customer service was okay, I did feel welcome to a certain extent, but, it did seem just a little forced. Nevertheless, not a big deal because no one was blatantly rude or out of place. The restaurant is small, and nice and clean. As for the food, my bread was a little burnt, and tasted as such. The fries were a bit overcooked, but I will say I appreciated the full on truffle flavor. I picked on the sandwich, then disposed of what you see in the pictures. Man, we had SUCH a different experience than what everyone else appears to have at this strange little restaurant. First, it's in a strip mall, and its counter service. The tables are all a little wobbly and need a good wipe down, everything just was a bit sticky. We sat on the patio, which is literally on a grade and so our table just precariously leaned the whole meal. I ordered the garden salad with seared salmon and my husband got a burger with sweet potato fries - we were sharing with our toddler. We went on a Sunday night and there were only two people working: one in the kitchen and one doing everything else. We waited SO LONG for our food, which was hard-mode to entertain a toddler with sports on the tvs. Food was seriously so mid, my salmon was baked and very overcooked, the spring mix was wilted, the cucumbers were flaccid. My husband, never one to wax poetical, was underwhelmed, going to far as to say "damn, how do you mess up a burger?" Inside, they have about 3-4 tables for seating and a nice outdoor patio area with about 5-6 more tables. As for their menu, they have a nice selection of different burgers, sandwiches, salads, and more! Wifey and I stopped by for lunch and decided on the Hills Burger and the Miso Salmon Salad. I planned to get a chicken club with sweet potato fries but was informed they were completely out, so I opted for regular fries instead. After waiting for a while, I got my sandwich and noticed the inside of the bread was absolutely toasted to death--covered in black char, as if seared by the sun. I asked if they could please switch out the bread and they said they would need to remake the entire order. I said that wasn't necessary, just the bread, and they said they'd figure it out. They took forever and a day. I saw multiple orders come out after speaking with them. I can only assume they put me in the back of the queue and remade the entire order. I was really close to just asking for my money back and walking out. While finally eating my somewhat dry sandwich, I overheard the cashier telling all new customers that they were now completely out of regular fries as well. How does that happen? To make matters worse, several fountain drinks were out of order, they were out of certain canned sodas, and the water tasted like dirt. read more
