I've had the opportunity to try some amazing smash burgers throughout OC but I have noticed that the IE really doesn't have much when it comes to smash burgers. After craving a really good smash burg and not wanting to drive down to the OC, we decided to give The Kroft a try, particularly because of the glaring 4+ star reviews. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. We got 2 Waygu smash burgers, garlic truffle fries, and the fried brussel sprouts with bacon. The burgers and ingredients itself were decent. It was not an amazing flavor nor was it a bad flavor. It was just decent. It's a a flavor I would akin it more to fast food burger. The issue we had with the burger is that it was drenched in grease. We eat beef and pork of all kinds and we know grease is part of the meat, but this just lathered in it. The bun was soaked in grease too. And honestly, it was very unpleasant to eat that we didn't even finish the burgers. The garlic truffle fries were actually pretty tasty; however, it was the same situation, it was just drenched in grease too. The brussel sprouts? It too was drenched in that grease/oil. Pricing was fair considering the location and the surrounding other food stalls. We came in on a Saturday evening and there was a lot of people in Haven City, but we waited no more than 10 minutes for our food. There is plenty of space to sit in Haven City, restrooms, and plenty of parking albeit a lot of people/cars coming and going. Despite the glaring 4+ reviews, sorry y'all, but this smash burger spot just isn't and I think it'll still be awhile before the IE truly gets a smash burger spot right. read more

When I saw that they had the Birria dip sandwich I knew I had to try it and I expected it to be smaller than the actual photo but it was very big, hot, cheesy, and delicious. Everything you love about Birria was in the sandwich! The consomme was a bit different, more of a gravy consistency, but I really enjoyed it and so did my husband! we were dipping fries in it too. It came out faster than I expected, and everybody was really nice. The employee kindly answered my questions about the Birria eggrolls but i didnt try them because the onion and cilantro was in the premade rolls (makes sense! I just hhhaaaaateeeee cilantro & onion). This is kind of a limited sandwich for them or at least that's what it seemed like, but I would definitely eat it again and thankfully, we have a more local one near me. I always have so much trouble choosing where to eat at the Haven City Market, however during my last visit, I was in the mood for a good quality burger and fries meal. With this craving, my husband and I found ourselves at The Kroft and, let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. From the service to the food, everything was perfect. As noted above; The Kroft is located inside of the Haven City Market. There is plenty of free parking via their parking lot right outside of the market that's shared for visitors of the whole establishment. We ordered a few things to share among our family for lunch and, truly, everything was delicious. Our order consisted of: - Birria Eggrolls - Loco Moco Poutine fries - French Onion Smash Bgr All of the flavor profiles were perfectly matched to their namesake. My favorite was the French Onion Smash Bgr. The smash burger itself was packed with flavors and was a prime example of a solid burger. We also loved how the kitchen was generous with the poutine in the loaded fries. It was my daughter's favorite part of the meal. The Kroft is a fantastic addition to the Haven City Market. This is one of the burger spots you can choose inside Haven City Market. Heard good things about Kroft and I'm so glad we tried it. Luckily there many seats available at the time we got there because I know it can be pretty busy in there. We got the wagyu smash burger with garlic truffle fries and the spicy jack smash burger with spicy fries. Overall it was good, but the meat of the burger was on the drier side and the cheese wasn't melted as much as I'd like it to be. Both fries were really good and texture was cooked to perfection. The strawberry lemonade was a tad bit sweet but still good. However, the mango lemonade tasted a bit watered down. I'm a fan of mango flavored drinks but I would've skipped out on that one. The girl who took our order was very sweet and was efficient with taking our orders. Overall, would come and but I'll have try another burger. read more

The Kroft, located in Haven City Market, really hit the spot for us. We wanted something filling but not too much as we had further plans. My friend chose the Loaded Philly Fries, which she said were like an amped up In n Out animal fries, which is a compliment since she likes those. For me, a keto option of bunless smash burger was the way to go. It had exactly what one looks for in this kind of burger - that crispy goodness that comes from the Maillard reaction. MmmMmmmm! My boyfriend and I were hanging out at the Haven City Market in Rancho Cucamonga and the Kroft had an anniversary buy one get one free deal on the day of our visit. What a deal! We decided to share the Kroft Fried Chicken ($13.95/value) and the Braised Beef Poutine ($13.95/value). They gave us a pager so we were able to walk around and find a table while the food was getting prepared. There are plenty of tables around Haven City Market. The food was prepared in a reasonable amount of time. The portion of both of these were big. The fried chicken sandwich was a bit bready for my liking. The fried chicken was a bit oily. I didn't like the jalapeno and found myself picking it out. I could have used more garlic aioli in it. The braised beef poutine was definitely the better of the 2. There was a good amount of braised beef and gravy on top of fries. My only comment is that I would have liked more cheese curds. A nice snack. I have been a fan of the Kroft since their Anaheim Packing District location so I'm glad they expanded and doing well. I would like it if they brought back the porchetta sandwich. read more

When you pick up your order there's a very hilarious picture of a crying pig if you look closely enough. If you want to try poutine, this is the place to do it! I was surprised that they had such an extensive menu of poutine (classic, but they also have smashed wagyu, loco moco, fried fish chowder, braised beef, chicken parm, etc. and of course they also have their sandwiches, burgers and sides. If you have kiddos or not a big appetite, they have a kid's meal too. They have their soft serve, but sadly when I went they only had their vanilla, no seasonal flavor, but that was okay. I got their loco moco poutine loaded fries. Loco moco is one of my favorite dishes to get at Hawaiian restaurants, so this was a no brainer for me. You leave them your number and they text you when your order is read. Everything is grilled/fried on the spot so it comes out piping hot and it takes a bit of time, especially on a weekend, but it's worth the wait for something tasty. It took around 15-ish minutes for my order but there was line when I ordered, a line after me and when I picked up my food, a group of people waiting for their food. So just keep that in mind. Not too bad. For their loco moco poutine, it comes with 2 smashed wagyu beef patties, grilled and crispy fried onions, a fried sunny side up egg, brown gravy, cheese curds, green onions, and ketchup glaze. It's as they say, they're loaded fries. I took a couple bites and immediately got full. Definitely something that can be shared amongst people, at least 2, or even more if you want to wander the food hall and try more. Cheese curds are super cheesy, did a really tall cheese pull with it. Fries are the thicker cut type and went great with the gravy. Egg was nice and runny adding extra flavor to it. I think the only thing is with all of the savory and the beef patties, gravy, and fries, it was a tad salty for me. I took this home to supplement with rice, so I can have carbs on carbs. Finally an actual smash burger and not something just called a smash burger. crispy cheese, well done burger, soft toasted bread. It was complete. The star was the Birria egg rolls, something I can explain why it works so well with a consume dipping broth on the side but this was the highlight and I can go just for this with the jalapeño coleslaw that was fresh, no where over dressed but came together well. I would recommend this place. The food is good. The servers are nice. My only issue is the Porchetta sandwich that they had on the menu originally I loved it. But now they took it away and brought it back. I know there were a lot of complaint of being too oily, but that's what made the sandwich good so now that it's more dry and less meat, I probably won't order it again. But I do love their spicy smashed cheeseburger, so they still have me as a customer. read more

I ordered the chicken sandwich along with the cheese fries. My daughter ordered cheese steak, but we won't talk much about that because I didn't taste it. However, she did say it was very cheesy, and that she wished the bread was toasted. My meal was very good. Now, I will say I was very skeptical at first, and no I won't tell you why. The meat was so tender and juicy, it was also seasoned perfectly. Paired it with some fries and a beer from around the corner and my palette and tummy were both satisfied! Friendly and quick service. I am a burger aficionado and have had them all over the country, including at the creator of the hamburger in New Haven, Connecticut, Louis Lunch. What sets the smashburger apart are the ingredients and preparation: wagyu beef, thin onions, and what I call an ultra-smash grilling. They put the raw onions down, top it with a ball of wagyu beef, and squash the daylights out of it!! The edges taper down to zero thickness and get caramelized and crispy!! Same for the onions that are all smashed and crisped up too!! Lot at my photos. Take my word for it, best ever burger! It's worth the drive. Fries are a generic from frozen affair. I was in Rancho last weekend and wanted a sandwich and searched on Yelp and thought my eyes were deceiving me when The Kroft appeared. I triple checked again and it was true, The Kroft is at Haven CIty Market in Rancho! Honestly, the city should just give them an award now for even considering venturing out this way. I'm TOO familiar with The Kroft because I was there when they first opened the Anaheim Packing District and the Kroft was and is that girl, to this DAY! I think most of those day one vendors didn't make it or left, but the Kroft is still holding it down over there. That being said, everything is good here. I've never had a bad meal from the Kroft, ever. Last Saturday I tried their beef melt sandwich and got the combo with truffle fries, BOMB! There is no sandwich like this in a fast-casual setting. The bread is not your typical sandwich bread and it compliments the meat and the juices and is proportionate to the amount of meat used. The meat is fall apart, juicy and flavorful. My only complaint about the combo is the cup that the drink comes in is for boba and it has a rounded bottom and knocks over easy. Also, the lid they gave me didn't fit correctly and the drink leaked everywhere just from walking from the counter inside through the parking lot and to my car. It was just a sticky mess. Don't get a combo, bring your own drink or get one from another vendor. I also got the BBQ smash fries to share with my family and that it in itself is a meal. It's their smash burger patty on a bed for fries and it's so good! I would just order that and the sandwich next time and share it and get a drink elsewhere. Service was horrible. I waited there for someone to hand me my order, and nobody bothered -- meanwhile my food just sat there getting cold. After a few minutes I gave up waiting and grabbed it myself to go sit down. Out of frustration, I completely forgot to ask for a fork and napkins. If you're looking for a solid lunch deal at Haven City, this is it. For $16, I got a delicious burger, a side of fries, and a refillable soda. I went with the garlic truffle fries, and they definitely didn't skimp on the flavor--highly recommend those. The only downside was the wait. It got pretty backed up during the lunch rush because there were only two people working. They were clearly hustling and doing their best to keep up, but just a heads-up that you might need a little extra time if you're coming in during peak hours.
