    Elvis

The older short lady was incredibly rude! While me and my family were playing pool, she ran up to us and yelled at the top of her ogre lungs, "it's $5 for pool after 8pm!! Are you staying or leaving? Or how are we going to deal with this here!" We all looked at each other very confused since it seemed like a fun place, but it put a real damper on our mood. But hey I saw Elvis.

This is not an easy review for me to do- I wanted to like this place and had asked the Hubby if we could stop there a few times. Now- I'm sorry to say we won't return. When we arrived only one other party was there. There were still Mrs. Butterworth bottle on the tables from breakfast ( I liked those). The waitress came to our table and told us they only had tea and juice because the fountain was not working- that was ok, I ordered water, he had tea- she then said we have no straws- then the fun began. I tried to order the mushroom Swiss burger, but they were out of mushroom, tried to get fried pickles- they were out ,just ordered a cheeseburger with ketchup and mustard, Hubby tried to order fish, they were out, soup- not in season, ordered honey BBQ wings and onion rings- the only other customers ordered appetizers, potato skins, fried ravioli etc- they were out! We could hear them in the kitchen trying to figure out how to sauce the wings- they came out with it poured on top- Burger had cheese and mustard- she brought ketchup packets to the table and said they were out in the kitchen- when hubby picked up the packets there was a used one in them- our waitress did grab it and throw it when he pointed it out. Even worse- I went into the ladies room - the stalls were dirty, didn't lock or even close and there was no hand soap or paper towels- it really grossed me out! Maybe if you go to drink- the alcohol will keep you safe- otherwise don't go

A friend and I recently ate lunch here together. It's a great soul food restaurant, located in the…read moretype of neighborhood that I'm only comfortable frequenting during the daylight hours. On this day of the week (Wednesday), the restaurant featured their fried chicken. A local resident had strongly and repeatedly recommended Mae's food. My friend and I both ordered the fried chicken. I'm sure glad that I did! It was perfectly breaded, seasoned, and cooked. We were given our choice of cut, and we both chose chicken breasts. It was nicely-sized and fresh. I would definitely recommend it, and I would order it again. For side items, the collard greens, sweet potatoes, and blackeye(d) peas were all delicious and properly prepared. I ate every last bit, especially since the portion sizes were a bit too small. I would suppose that tiny portions dramatically reduce food waste. The square of cornbread was quite welcomed. I had also heard that Mae's cooks up some delicious pork chops (on Thursdays) and meatloaf (some Fridays). I look forward to trying those as well. The building doesn't have central air conditioning, but rather a series of window units. During the height of summer, it can get uncomfortably hot inside the restaurant, so they do a lot of take out business. If you want to eat inside, be sure to pick a cool/cloudy day. Also, the parking situation is a bit chaotic, with no designated spaces marked out. It's kind of a free-for-all. The safest bet is to backup into an open spot, just for better visibility when you leave. I made the mistake of parking head-in. It took me forever to back out. The street that runs in front of the restaurant is full of fast and careless drivers. Be sure to take some cash with you, because this place doesn't accept any credit or debit cards.

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!

Local Bar with Massive Rib-eyes…read more Mcadoo's is an experience, and one you should explore if you are in the Blytheville area. I have, over the years, wanted to go and check the place out, but a combination of not being able to find it and not having enough time has always kept me from a visit. During my last visit to Blytheville, a business colleague and I decided to check this infamous establishment out and have a business dinner, beers, and rib-eyes. Mcadoo's is located in central Blytheville, across from the fire station, and it is in a simple metal shack, which can make it hard to find. There are no signs on the building, just the name written on the entrance door. Inside, you find a fully functioning bar with pool tables and plenty of tables to sit at. Mcadoo's has an old-school vibe as the inside is lit up by old-school red lights. Like bars of old, you can smoke inside; keep this in mind if you are a non-smoker or have allergies to smoke. Mcadoo's has a fully stocked bar, but it's mostly known for its rib-eye steaks. Our server came to our table and informed us that they had no apps and that our only options were rib-eye with salad, baked potato, and toast, or rib-eye with toast, as nothing else was available on the menu. The rib-eyes took about twenty minutes to arrive, and they were massive and cooked to perfection. The salad and the baked potato were fresh and okay, but the focus was on the steak. The steaks were juicy and tender, and they were also very affordable. The allure of Mcadoo's is the experience, the full bar and the affordable rib-eyes. It is also a favourite place for locals to hang out. Overall, a good experience and a great rib-eye dinner.

Miss Barbara is a most delightful hostess and owner. Looking for local color? This is the place. The entrance does not face the road so you will have to look for the building that looks like a body shop, but the spacious interior has a big bar and plenty of seating with several pool tables. Clearly this is a neighborhood hangout.

We were seated quickly, and our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure our drinks stayed full throughout our visit. The restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to enjoy time together. We started with the Triple Dipper featuring queso, guacamole, and salsa with fresh tortilla chips. It was the perfect appetizer for the table. The queso was creamy and flavorful, the guacamole tasted fresh, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick. The chips were warm, crispy, and kept coming until we were ready for our meals. For my entrée, I ordered the Oldtimer Cheeseburger with fries. The burger was cooked just right, juicy, and topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and melted cheese on a soft bun. The fries were hot, seasoned well, and made a great side. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals, and the portions were generous enough that no one left hungry. One thing I appreciate about Chili's is the consistency. Every visit has been dependable, with good food, solid portions, and friendly service. It's a place where you can bring the family without worrying about whether everyone will find something they like. Overall, this was another enjoyable visit. Great food, excellent service, and quality family time made for a wonderful Sunday lunch after church. We'll definitely be back the next time we're looking for a casual meal with dependable food and a welcoming atmosphere.
