My friend and I had brunch at The Henry in Dallas on July 26. One of the main reasons my friend chose the restaurant was to order the Kalua pork sliders, so it was very disappointing to find out they were already sold out. For a restaurant that markets itself as an upscale dining experience, running out of a signature menu item during brunch was unexpected and disappointing. That said, the rest of our meal was enjoyable. The artichoke dip, grilled shrimp enchiladas and crab cakes, crispy tuna and were both delicious, the sangria was excellent, and the service was outstanding. Our server was attentive and friendly, which helped make the experience pleasant despite the disappointment with the unavailable menu item. Overall, the food we were able to order was very good, but I hope the restaurant does a better job of managing inventory for popular dishes in the future. read more

I came here with my dad tonight for my birthday and it was a memorable night. Our server was Shane and he took great care of us. We had a 6 pm reservation and were seated promptly. We ordered an appetizer and drinks that came out pretty quickly. We got the short rib potstickers and the meat definitely melted in my mouth. I got a strawberry mint mocktail high ball or something like that. It was ok. For our entrees i ordered the braised short rib and my dad got the Korean prime skirt steak. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection! Since it was my bday i received a complimentary dessert- we shares the chocolate peanut butter pie. It was delish!! Stopped by on a Friday around 1pm. Ambiance was nice. Service was slow...took almost 10 minutes for the waiter to stop by the table after we sat down. Food was ok...portions were small based on the $. Plus, they were out of seabass tacos that 2/4 of us wanted to try. Drinks were pricey as well. Honestly, we just popped in for a quick happy hour drink before our fancy dinner reservations. They had about 11 specialty cocktails on happy hour for just $10 each! I've got to say, order the SPICY! It wasn't actually spicy, but it was so delicious--those are the dangerous ones, right? My husband tried the Old Fashioned and said it was sweet and really good. I came during happy hour with a friend and their espresso martinis are so good. It pretty much was a sweet cold brew. The H was cinnamon sugar which made the cocktail smell so good every time I went for a sip. We had a snack- tuna crispy rice- it wasn't made w real tuna but rather canned tuna. Still seasoned and delicious. We also tried the sangria (sweet, refreshing, not that strong tho) and the uptown (honeydew, stronger). Service was great, the girls were very friendly and helpful with suggestions. The ambiance was super nice, I can see myself coming here for a meeting or cute dinner with friends. The Henry contains all the elements of a neighborhood favorite a cozy atmosphere, an all day menu, and a cool industrial-chic aesthetic. Coffee, cocktails and irresistible food are consistently strong. But even in all its allure it does not seem to be that personal, more corporate than warm. Here to speak on the Christmas pop up only. Where to start? I have come to the St. Henry pop up three years running, and it gets progressively worse each year. First, do not expect to be seated at your reservation time. You will stand downstairs for 20-30 minutes before they finally let you up. You are also charged a $7 cover per person. I would be fine with the cover if it was not for the fact that they were practically out of every food item we wanted to order. Our reservation was 8:00pm on a Wednesday night and we ended up ordering what we could because the things we actually wanted were sold out. It seems kind of ridiculous that you were not fully stocked for a weeknight, especially considering the size of the kitchen here. I would understand if it was just one item.. but multiple?? The ambiance may be the biggest flop of all. This rooftop used to be open to the city with trees, heaters, and open fire pits. Now, the entire patio is shut in and covered. There are canned lights that make the christmas lights redundant and pointless because it is so BRIGHT. It was like sitting in a hospital cafeteria for dinner. The fire pit areas are now segregated by walls that look like ugly barn stalls. You cannot see the skyline anymore. If you get the barn stall section they will sit you with people you do not know because its all about cramming people on top of one another. I am attaching a picture of what it used to be when this place was one of the better pop ups! Sadly, that is not the case anymore. We really enjoyed our time at the Henry! The atmosphere in there is warm and inviting yet intriguing. We got the crusty bread and Brie to start off which did not disappoint. For our main course, we got the harvest bowl which was the perfect balance of flavor and was very filling. While the food is on the more expensive side, we had a great time catching up with friends here and enjoying the beautiful atmosphere and dining experience. My first time here and it was a very interesting experience. I was originally excited because the restaurant had a very cute and bright vibe. When we walked in we were quickly escorted to the patio. My cousin asked could we wait to sit inside (it was cold in Dallas that day), and we were told we couldn't. Only those who made a reservation could sit inside. That was a new concept to us, considering we live in the hospitality capital (Las Vegas). We ordered our food and fries were our appetizer. The fries came out pretty quickly but immediately upon seeing them we knew they were overcooked. They were basically brown. We waited a while before our sever came back and then we requested them to be made fresh. Our other food came. I ordered a Caesar chicken salad and my cousin ordered the breakfast burger. My salad was fresh but the Chicken wasn't seasoned at all. She enjoyed her burger and the portion was huge. By the time we had finished our food the fresh fries still were not out. The waiter never came to check on us when our entrees came out which is abnormal. A waiter usually comes and asks how the food is almost immediately after it comes out. I will say that the drinks were amazing, I had the espresso martini and the sangria. Best sangria I ever had in my life! I most likely will not be back unfortunately unless it's just to sit and the bar and have drinks. read more

Came here for dinner to visit the limited time Hank's Hideaway tiki rooftop. I won a contest for a gift card so I was able to try a lot of the options. The roof decor was really nice but it was super hot and humid that day- some fans would probably be nice out there. All the food was great! Albeit small in portion given the price. The highlights include the gyozas, crab cake, and toffee cake dessert. The drinks were good but not the strongest ever. Our servers were also super kind and helpful, and everything came out at a great pace. A great rooftop for drinks and apps to start the night. read more

Awesome atmosphere, decent food, good time. Popped into the Henry for some drinks and lunch and overall our experience was solid. We sat upstairs in the rooftop bar area which was cool and very busy. This restaurant definitely embodies the uptown Dallas vibe. If that's not your thing, well... Service was good. We had started with some drinks (espresso martini & Weller Single Barrel) and a couple apps. The pretzel bites were good, nothing crazy but solid. The short rib potstickers had good flavor but were desperately in need of some texture. Followed the apps with Korean Skirt steak and The hot honey chicken sandwich. Both were pretty good, I'd get the skirt steak over the chicken sandwich. It was Korean inspired and had great flavor. The [prime] skirt steak is cooked to whatever doneness you prefer - which is always a plus. Overall we had a good experience. 99/100 Espresso Martini! For sure one of the top 3 I've ever had in my life. $17 seems like a steal. 96/100 Brussel Sprouts, also some of the best ones I've ever had. Only thing missing is some bacon, but the texture and char are perfectly on point. I sat upstairs at the bar. This is a good place to people watch. They enclosed the upstairs rooftop and had all of the fire pits on. It was definitely toasty inside. We had a work dinner here a couple weeks ago, and it was just an meh experience, at best. The place is a whole vibe, and upstairs is a tiki themed bar which is cool. We were sat in the private room which nicely accommodated 50+ people so that was great, but it had no vibe or feel compared to the rest of the place. The drinks are mostly tiki themed. I ordered an espresso martini which was one of the worst I've ever had (conflicting flavors that didn't belong in it) so I got a mojito instead. I suppose tropical drinks are the way to go here since it's tiki themed after all! We had a pre fixe menu and I'm not sure who chose the different items but none of them went together (??). Oh, and the food is just terrible. The appetizers we had were potstickers, beer cheese pretzels & a fig/brie toast. I usually love potstickers but these were sitting in a watery soy/ginger sauce that took all crisp out of them. The fig/brie toast was soggy too, but the beer cheese & pretzels were good. Just all an odd combo for apps! I asked for no goat cheese on my salad bc I have a strong disdain for it, and the server said unless it's an allergy, they couldn't accommodate... seriously?! Ok. For the entree, I chose the beef filet & it was okay, just lacked flavor. And I don't remember what we had for dessert bc I think I gave up by that point. The restaurant was busy at the time so I understood that it took the waitress a while to get to us and to get our food as we sat at the bar. We went as two couples for a holiday celebration. We chose the rooftop for the festive atmosphere and decorations. The menu is limited, but the full menu is available in the main restaurant. We tried the crab cake (delicious), short ribs (fantastic), burger (good), and the Spicy Tuna (very good). It was very crowded, so the service was a little slow but not horrible. The server was covering quite a few tables with mostly four or more people, so I think she did well (maintained a cheerful attitude). We had a couple of old-fashioned cocktails, a couple of martinis, and a couple of shots. We spent about $200 per couple, including the tip. We would go back to the rooftop for a multi-couple date, but we also want to experience the full menu at the main restaurant. read more

We actually attended the St. Henry's Winter Wonderland, rooftop lounge area. The roof top was beautifully lit up and very sparkly. They had the plastic coverings down which was fine since it was a tad chilly this night but they didn't have our fireplace lit until we were getting ready to leave. The service was okay, our server was a little all over but she apologized for being pulled in many directions. We didn't actually stay too long because the drink selections weren't to our taste and they couldn't make changes because they were made in batches (which is smart for Special menu drinks) but you can't top off with something extra? That's weird to me. There's no food menu on the roof top, only little plates to share; another reason why we left. My girlfriends and I had an amazing time at The Henry. We arrived around 8:30 on a Saturday night with no reservation, the hostess let us know there'd be about an hour wait for the upstairs bar area and it's an in-person line. She was accurate with the timing and we were promptly sat. The upstairs was beautifully decorated and the vibes were right with a great DJ! We ordered mostly apps, one plate (the braided short rib with mashed potatoes) and shared amongst the 3 of us - everything was delicious! Especially the short rib potstickers, they truly melt in your mouth and we'd go back just for those! WOW! I have only been here one other time and it was for a PACKED meetup event that was more of a "meat up". Came by myself today and arrived about 15 minutes before HH started @ 4p. The hostess was kind enough to let me sit at the downstairs bar and then promptly let me know when the rooftop bar opened (where HH is offered). First - gorgeous space at the actual bar...outside and inside. Would be great for any type of party. Second - the service was SPOT ON! The two young ladies behind the bar were all over it, super friendly, helpful with recommendations and efficient. True mixologists and customer ambassadors! I started with a dirty martini and 3 oysters (oh...the cilantro sauce - TDF!). I then tried the melt-in-your-mouth spicy tuna & crispy rice...OMG! Finally, for fun I ordered the pretzel bites with house made provolone fondue. I could only eat one, but took the rest home for later. All of the food was $12 each (HH $). Oh...forgot that I ordered a 2nd cocktail...the Thai grapefruit smash - refreshing AND yummy. All cocktails are $10 @ HH. Note - see my photos for more in-depth descriptions of everything.
