The staff is amazingly friendly and they do a lot of good for the community here. Their cinnamon roll is to DIE for, and their savoury lunch stuff is EPIC! (I'm a huge fan of the grilled cheese + tomato soup but their chef has been all over the world and the soups are always amazing!) Also appreciate all of the options they have for gluten free / vegan cuisines.

November 2020 - got the grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. I MEANT to get the Thai wrap, but I guess my heart wanted the grilled cheese and tomato basil soup, so my mouth complied when I called in my order in. I just love it so much! I will eventually get the Thai wrap one day!

If you find yourself near the BC Provincial Law Courts in New Westminster and you're looking for a place to hide out, you only have to go across the street to duck inside The Hide Out Cafe. The Hide Out Cafe is a self-acclaimed "hidden gem" which serves up paninis, wraps, salads as well as Fair Trade coffee. I showed up on a sunny May weekday and decided to try their Grilled Chicken Panini ($10.49) with meaty chunks of chicken, creamy melted cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes. Their menu appears to be limited to whatever they have already prepared for that day. The panini press gave this sandwich a nice crunchy exterior and turned a rather ordinary sandwich into a pleasantly hot, ooey-gooey treat. Perhaps not the best sandwich that I've had and I'd prefer if the sandwiches were made-to-order, but adequate for the neighbourhood. They also have a hidden patio off the side of the cafe where you can enjoy the sunny weather.

Ok, so take a cafe. Add a FUNNER menu. Let some talented food-weirdos rename everything. Add some hot-sauces that your mother would scold you for as a child. It's worth a food-tourism trip! Yahoo on my tastebuds, YeeHee for my sense of humour!

Decided to pop into this cafe since they had a fresh cinnamon bun sign outside. I ordered a cinnamon bun but sadly it was hard. The lady did instruct me to heat it up for 30 seconds before I ate it but it was still hard after heating.

Best soup and sandwich place I've had. Although a little pricier than other places, the quality is worth it. Everything is homemade and fresh. Will be coming back.

Solid breakfast wraps, soup and latte! My lunch came to $17. I found that a touch pricey for the ambiance. The place looks like the standard coffee shop with board games and limited seating. The bigger tables are reserved only for groups of 3 or 4 people when I asked. My food was great. My wrap was loaded with cheese, egg and sausage. Broccoli and cheese soup was creamy. Latte was perfect.

It was definitely worth the 45+min wait. We had a large party and the service was still top notch. Everything we ordered was delicious. We were celebrating my birthday so my aunty had them serve me a Dutch berry pancake. It was so good, not to sweet and thin enough were even after I had already ate I could eat one. They also use fresh fruits with their serving, so nice. Lovely space, try their outdoor seating as well on a nice day.

It was clean and bright and we got a nice seat by the window. Our server was quick to say hello and take our drink order. I'm always impressed with the breadth of the menu here. I landed on the Seafood Yummy Hash, and hubby had the Big breakfast, again. Coffee and water came first, and we were both delighted at how good the coffee was. Most diner style restaurants have a very burnt tasting coffee but this was very smooth. Off to a good start! Food came out very quickly and looked amazing. Both dishes were beautifully plated, and the fruit on the big breakfast was not a typical canned special. Things took a turn at the first bite though. Taste 10/10, but our food was cold. Like cold, cold which was surprising given the restaurant was mostly empty, and it came out so quick. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, and very obviously in-house made, but both of our potatoes were quite literally cold, with some of the baby potatoes being hard in the middle still. The sourdough was also stale, but not just stale in taste, it was almost like it had been toasted well in advance and then plated. The review on the big breakfast remains the same as last time. Sausage was amazing, but the bacon and the ham left something to be desired. The server took some time to return back to our table and check in on us. When she did I told her our food was cold. She just kind of made a face, said oooooh, apologized, and that was it. She also had to be reminded to refill our coffees a second time after asking. The last shock came with the bill. While the prices overall were reasonable for very large servings of food, two black coffees came to $11. I know we raved about them at the beginning of the review, but not sure they were $11 good. Really wanted to love it, but not sure it lived up to expectations this time.

The menu has changed since new ownership and chef. Much greater variety and in a good way. We were seated on the patio which was spacious and had a nice back yard relaxing feel. Made the dining experience More relaxed and calm. I ordered the Westcoast seafood chowder which was delicious. Good proportions of seafood in the soup and good consistency and texture. I love chowder and this was a good one! The Philly cheese I ordered was packed with cheese as the cheese pull was amazing. Beef could be a bit more tender/ smaller cuts as was a bit hard to bite off but overall still good. Au jus was nice and salty soaked into the bread harmonized and evened it out. I also ordered a side of beef gravy for my fries and it was good thickness and taste. Wife had a Benny with fried chicken on it. I had a small taste and it was good as well. The owner is very nice and made sure at the end to take our comments and feedback. She seems very keen to make her business successful and customers happy. I found the food delicious and service good! Definitely would recommend.

We waited about 20-25 mins to get our order. It was a longer than usual wait but we didn't mind because our food was fresh and delicious. Food is a little pricey but we think it's worth it. We ordered deep fried pork hock, which was delicious. Portion is smaller compared to comparator Filipino restaurants but nonetheless it is packed with flavour. I am not a huge fan of the sauces that accompany the dish. The beef in peanut sauce was delicious! It's rich, creamy and a generous portion. Anything that's tossed in a rich peanut sauce really gets my tastebud dancing! We ordered 2 bowls of rice, I didn't appreciate $9 for 2 bowls of rice but oh well.... Excellent service, the lovely guy with the long hair was friendly and welcoming. He answered all our questions and was very polite. We paid $80 for 2 dishes, rice and a 15% tip. We'd like to try their buffet so will need to plan for that sometime this year, hopefully.

The buffet was reasonably priced so we'll likely come back to try other dishes. The halo-halo we ordered was from their ala carte menu, so we paid for this separately. They have a band on the weekends which adds to the ambiance of this place. Definitely come here if you want to have a great time!
