The staff is friendly, and every workstation is impeccably clean. I wasn't sure how the process worked, but I met with Laura first for a consultation, and she took my idea and ran with it. On the day of, there were some minor changes to the design (at her suggestion) that she could make on the spot. Her design was *exactly* what I was looking for. The tattoo itself turned out far better than I envisioned. Laura was able to implement a design that required a lot of skill, with high detail, shading, and lots of very straight lines. There were no customers, just the two guys that worked there. They were bullshitting in the back, talking and catching up while we sat waiting. Then when the guy, David, finally brought my daughter back @910....he told me that he no longer had time to get to me because he had to lock up by 10pm. He repositioned my daughters tattoo twice and then just stopped responding to her at all. He never checked in to see if she needed a break or to ask how she was doing. He was a complete dick. Her tattoos look like they are ten years old at two weeks. We took her to another shop to just talk to someone about how they were looking and they said whoever did it went way to deep and she would be lucky if they healed better than they are currently looking. Completely shitty experience with a guy that I would never recommend to anyone. The shop itself seems ok. Clean. Well put together. I went to Ever True to get my tattoos two days later. I was seated in the waiting room for 5 minutes before I was on the table. Out the door within an hour, with the cleanest lined tattoos and a sweetheart of an artist. He will definitely be my go to from now on. I paid the same price that the other shop was charging and a way better experience. I would give David at Grizzly 0 stars if it was possible. I came to Blacklist specifically to work with Jodie Beecham for my back tattoo. I had an old half…read moreback piece that I was looking to either finish/refresh or cover. After speaking with Jodie, we opted to do a full back with a blast over on the original tattoo. Since then every interaction I've had has been amazing. After I had scheduled my back, some physical issues came up, and Jodie was open to and willing to swap to another piece. She did a cover up on my hip of an Octopus and I constantly get compliments. Since then, Jodie has done my full back and finished a memorial tattoo on my lower arm. She's a phenomenal artist and person. While working on my back, I was coming in almost weekly for a little bit to try and move through it. She has a super light hand, and she's the only artist who I've had tattoo me that doesn't scab over super hard, but the colors are incredibly saturated. The shop is always clean, everyone who works there is fantastic. I've stood in that shop in just pasties and sweats for multiple months and I never felt uncomfortable. In fact they always went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. Jodie is now my go to artist. I have at least 7+ larger pieces in my head and even though I've been/do still get tattooed by other people, she's my go-to and I consider her to be my primary artist. She's an amazing artist, really understands color theory, she asks other artists for their input, and really works with you to make something FOR YOU. She's flexible with scheduling, and honestly just a super fucking cool person. There's literally nothing bad that I can say about this shop, and as a heavily tattooed person, I recommend them all the damn time.

So much so that I travel from New Orleans at least once a year to continue work on my piece. I interviewed multiple artists across Portland before choosing Drat to go on this wild self-reclamation journey with me. He was the most considerate, understanding, and ethical person I met. Having said all that, I highly recommend both Drat and the Ever True shop for work large or small. The space is impeccably clean, and I am ADAMANT about cleanliness, especially in tattoo shops. I have topical allergies and Drat is accommodating for that as well, with zero hassle. Also, I feel completely safe and protected, which is imperative considering the intimate and vulnerable placement of my work. If you want body art that is aesthetically beautiful and handled with total care, check out Drat at Ever True! The lack of respect for my time was unbelievable. This was the last time I went to him. It's been many years since then and I found that most of the tattoos I've gotten from here have been tattoos I have covered up. What a waste of time and money it's been. Had I just done a little bit more research I would have found plenty of shops with better artists and vibes. If you'd like your tattooer to act like he is all that and get over charged for mediocre tattoos that at best mimic real Japanese art then Drat is the guy for ya.

TO PREFACE my artist was UK Kulot on instagram I went in to…read moreget two, two inch tattoos for my birthday on saturday at 10am. I arrived with a friend who had her appointment set for 11 am. We got in the artist called us back, mind you without having us fill out any paperwork or checking our IDs. He called us back and then proceeded to set up the shop wash a window and post some of his flash outside. He was on his phone 90% of the time and i dont think we started tattooing until after 1030. By 1030 he hadnt even put the stencils on and after he did that he let me sit there for another ten minutes just doing absolutly nothing. Once we finally got to tattooing he went for a little bit then stopped to take a break (He did not me) for a little while, then went back to it. After the first tattoo i went and used the restroom and came back quickly because i had somewhere to be that afternoon. He did not start tattooing me again for 10 more minutes because he was showing my friend things on his phone and chatting with her. Then once he did start tattooing again he didnt wash his hands and i dont believe he changed his gloves either. During this second tattoo he stopped again part way through to talk to me about school for what felt like twenty minutes. after the second tattoo he finished sprayed some bactine without asking me about any allergies or anything at all i had to ask what he sprayed on my arm. Then moved on to my friend. Her tattoo was reletivly quick, he sprayed her with bactine without asking and then proceeded to clean my tattoo touch his phone and contunie touching my tattoo. After that i told him i was allergic to saniderm so he used seran wrap which is tottaly fine ive had that before! But he wraped it in a way that cut off the circulation to both of my arms. My friend asked for sanaderm/second skin to which he said he didn't have any and wraped her arm in saran wrap as well.I got two fully colored tattoos (which i have never had before) and he gave me absolutely no aftercare instructions nor did he tell me anything at all about matinence or care of a colored tattoo. I have 30 something tattoos im not stupid when it comes to aftercare but nether me nor my friend have colored tattoos so we had no idea how to take care of them. We ended up leaving the shop at 130, three and a half hours later for three two inch tattoos. I WISH IT ENDED HERE. I got home and i was feeling a lot of pain in my arms. I brushed it off as just healing and soreness from the bactine wearing off i kept the seran wrap on and went on with my night. I ended up taking it off to shower (On their website it says you can take off the second skin after two hours) and head to bed My arms were hurting so bad at this point i couldn't put any pressure on them and touching around or on the tattooed area hurt so bad it brought me to tears. Today i two days later and they are crusted and burning. It feels like a constant rug burn. Whenever i move my arms it feels like my skin is ripping. They wont spot leaking and they're constantly hot to the touch. I am really worried that they are infected and im nervous that i will have to go to urgent care to get antibiotics. It is genuinely the worst pain of my life and the tattoos themselves look blistered. I will absolutely never be going back here and i wish i could get my money back so i could pay for the antibiotics.

I was quickly connected with Julia (LadyCelery), and explained the style and subject and sent a few reference photos. I received a mock up that that captured what I was thinking, even better than I imagined. Although Julia is usually very busy, I was able to get in the next morning. Julia also answered questions about parking, and payment (No ATM required!) I was also impressed with the shop itself. It is such a cozy vibe and there are so many talented artists that have a wide range of styles. I can see why this place was busy! When doing the tattoo, Julia was so nice and personable. The tattoo turned out AMAZING. A high quality tattoo for a great price. I also loved the aftercare products they offered. Not expensive and products that the artists love using themselves. I will defiantly be coming back and mentioning this shop to others. If you are looking to get something last minute, I would call ahead and see what artists are free to tattoo. There is a reason they are popular! This is also a great spot for first timers.
