Worst HD. Another bad experience here, again... I went to return a small closed item with receipt in hand. No big deal. Young guy at the return desk was not doing anything, made me wait around while he mingled and then was cocky and rude to me for no reason. The customer service is lacking at this location. There is a difference between hiring a good team and gathering a pretentious clique. As far as I can tell, they all have bad energy: except Simone. She's a charm. I've recently started doing light renovations at the new home I'm moving into, and this Home Depot has become like a second home. I think I've been there almost every day in the past week! This review, however, will mainly only be the paint department. I've been doing a loooootttt of painting lately, and before going to HD I was a complete newbie, as in, never did any kind of house work ever. I asked the paint associates about the different kinds of paint and the process, and they were more than helpful. Not only did they explain what was needed, but they also went out onto the floor to show me where things were, but also how to decide on colors (using their light box and color palette computer). I do, however, recommend anyone who is trying to match paint colors to try to find a tiny bit of the wet paint left, or the color sticker that they put on top of canisters (if you previously purchased from HD years ago). Otherwise, they recommend you to cut a hole in your wall to bring as a sample. Their color matching machine needs a half-dollar sized sample of the color. Besides that, the customer service in the paint department is very friendly and quite helpful. I originally came here based on how close it is to the house I'm painting, but I'm quite surprised and delighted about how friendly and helpful the staff ended up being. My only complaint is the wait time, if they get really busy, generally about 2 people max work at one time. Then, you kind of have a lengthier wait time. But besides that, good job HD! You'll probably be seeing a lot more of me soon haha. read more

I am beyond irritated at all of the businesses that have changed their hours due to the covid-19 outbreak... News flash, closing at 8 p.m. will not stop one single person from contracting the virus if they come into contact with it and it won't stop the virus being inside of the store, by closing at 8 p.m.... Covid-19 doesn't know what time it is and it certainly doesn't stalk its prey at night and to close the business hours earlier than the normal hours is an inconvenience, nay, a huge inconvenience to its clients. I am so sick of a namby-pamby, nerf society where some overly politically correct suit sits at a conference table and decides it's the best thing if they close at 8 p.m. when it absolutely has nothing whatsoever to do with the transmission of covid-19 or whether or not we'll be in lock down or how long we will be in lockdown or ANY other detail except that it's an inconvenience and it ticks me off to no end, I'm sure I'm not alone. The store is always dirty. Staff hard to find. Almost always only (1)one cashier.... Lines 10 -15 people deep. This the normal daily dysfunctional operations. Not to mention heavy bulky items like lumber are stocked in the rear of the over crowded store. Honestly, it's hard to imagine this store being profitable. What a mess! read more

I visit this location somewhat frequently throughout the winter. They have pallets of pellets (say that five times fast) out front of the store, and my dad is getting a little too old to be lifting that stuff, so I try to help him out whenever I can. If you are scratching your head, wondering what the hell I am talking about... I am referring to pellets for a wood burning stove. My parents have a pellet stove that burns wood pellets. Home Depot carries wood pellets in 40 lb bags. This location is also a good place to get BBQ supplies, including some smaller sized smoking woods and chips. And of course they also have everything else you can imagine-up for your home including power tools, toilets and petunias. I have yet to have a horrible experience at this location. The last visit to pick up pellets, however... A lot of the bags had holes in them, so they were spilling pellets all over the place as I picked them up. Kind of sucked, but they did have bags intact and we left the store happy. Three Stars! read more

Don't try to purchase anything you need to bring a tag to the cashier for (so they can retrieve the item from the back for you). I stood in line to make the purchase, they sent me to wait in line at customer service. They had no idea how to retrieve an item from the back and I'm now standing in a THIRD line at self check out. I will never go back to this home depot. I ordered some equipment and selected to pick up. They sent me an email that the equipment was in one of the lock boxes in front of the store. I arrived and the line of people were almost around the building. I went to the lockbox, opened it and nothing inside. The only home depot person said if I had a problem to stand in line and talk to someone at the store. that was at least a 2 or 3 hour wait. there is no way I have time to risk my life standing in line to talk to one of the people inside the store. read more

Yesterday I made my first visit to my local Home Depot since stay at home guidelines due to being in the Covid elderly vulnerable category. I went early in the morning. I was disappointed in the lack of any safety protocols in the Nursery Department. First, I saw only one cart available in the whole parking lot, which I took. There were no sanitizing wipes or other cleaning protocols. Workers were not wearing masks, they were using blowers to blow dirt and debris around the isles, which weren't accessible due to large carts of inventory blocking all pathways. It was a real challenge to maneuver between the blowers and stocking carts to try to pick up a few plants. I've heard Greenacres is really considerate of their shoppers and employees, so I'll go there for future gardening supplies. read more

This is a review of the employee's customer service. I have spoken to: Norm, Michael, Kelly and Kelly's manager Andrew in the back office. They are responsible for the expedited special orders. In particular, I ordered some custom size closet doors from this store on August 31st. Norm told me it'd arrive on Sept 11th, which I did receive an email to confirm that info. On the 11th I called HD to confirm if the doors were there. The people in the receiving department told me they had NO IDEA where the doors were. ??? They said "They're probably here somewhere but hasn't been processed into the system yet as being received." What do you mean 'probably'?? Later that day, they told me it'd arrive by the 15th. So on the 16th I called and spoke to Michael. [Actually, Michael was great and delivered exceptional customer service as he really did try to be proactive and find out where the doors were and what day I'd receive them.] He told me I'd get them on the 18th and to call in around 3pm to confirm that they were there. Thanks Michael! However... I called on the 18th and spoke with Kelly. Kelly read me the timeline of the notes, basically told me that whoever I talked to prior gave me some incorrect dates because the doors are showing a delivery date of Sept 25th (....ummmm what??) She couldn't answer any of my questions so she went to get Andrew, her manager, on the phone. Andrew then repeats exactly all that Kelly said, did nothing to help my situation, was not proactive in helping or even wanted to help at all. He gave me the phone number to the vendor they ordered from for ME to inquire the whereabouts of the doors myself. He told me he wasn't able to call today because the vendor is closed since they're on the east coast. He said he'd call them in the morning. I asked what time? He then tells me that he's not working tomorrow so he wouldn't be able to call himself but he'd have one of his employees call on his behalf. I ended up calling myself right after that and guess what, the vendor was opened and they're NOT on the east coast. This manager doesn't even know WHO they order from, WHAT TIME they close, or want to help his customers. He wasn't even able to order me new doors, he said that his "special order" department is backed up because they're short staffed and the only guy who can help me re-order them comes in on Saturday. Honestly I don't really care about that detail - I just need to know where these doors are and when I'm getting them!! HD needs to find a new manager who cares to help their customers FIND SOLUTIONS and not CREATE PROBLEMS. read more

Really disappointed with Home Depot regarding the monthly kids kits. My two littles look forward to getting their kits each month to take home and do. It's hard to get in on the first Saturday of each month for us so normally I would pick them up at the service desk on whatever day we have a chance to make it in. I went in Sunday and asked if I could pick up the kits. I was told they are no longer allowed to pass them out and you can only get them on the one day of the month. I don't understand the change or maybe I just happened to get someone who didn't want to grab them for me idk. But I was able to get them in September and then this month was told no. I was slightly irritated with the conversation with said employee as well. When I was asked she responded no I can't without any explanation, I was confused because I had gotten them every month like this. When I said this she said yes I know. Again no explanation that policy changed so I was still confused. I know it wasn't her choice to change the rules but a simple "I'm so sorry but unfortunately due to the companies policies we are no longer allowed to pass them out threw out the month" would have answered my questions and saved us both a lot of time. It took a long drawn out confused conversion for her to finally let me know the policy I guess changed. read more

This Home Depot makes me sad. I remember when Home Depot was known for great customer service. Today my father and I went to Home Depot to purchase a refrigerator because ours needs to be replaced. I suggested going to a used appliance store, and he insisted on Home Depot. When we get to the store, the selection is extremely limited, which is understandable, COVID 19 makes everything more challenging. When we found the fridge that we wanted, we had to wait a while for the representative to help us because he was already helping a customer when we were ready, then after he was finished with that customer, he began helping a couple that starting waiting for help AFTER us. When he got to us, we were told that the Whirlpool fridge that we wanted was out of stock, with no date as to when it will be back in stock. Then when we asked if a similar model that was an LG was in stock he said to us " that's an LG and it costs more." at that point I responded by asking him if it was in stock or not because the cost for us was not an issue, not to mention we could see the price of the fridge since it was displayed on the front. We were then told that it was backorder for another month and a half. At this point we decided to go to Lowes, since there were only a total of maybe 15 refrigerators to choose from at Home Depot. I asked the representative if his inventory included all of the other Home Depots in this area and he said yes it does. I then asked him if they sell the display models, and he responded with "NO. If we sold the display models, then we would have nothing to sell" . Annoyed with his flippant response, I retorted with you don't have anything to sell anyway, so why don't you make some money on selling the displays.?" I didn't care to hear his response. I thanked him for his time and we left the store. I will not be shopping from the Carmichael location anymore, or any home depot for that matter, This experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. Also- we went to Lowes and had a wonderful experience. The representatives were all helpful and attentive and we ended up purchasing a refrigerator from them. We will be back week to purchase a stove as well. read more

The management is definitely lacking at this location. Went yesterday to get some carpet and have it cut. Sat there for 25 minutes while the girl helped somebody else and then when she was done with them she said I am off work and left me standing there. Went to a supposable manager and asked for help and he said he could not do it. There is such a thing as cross training right. Saw like 10 other people just walking around the store pushing around stuff. Went back today and they said they could not cut any carpet till 1130. Terrible terrible service. Unorganized. The management at this location needs to be replaced because this place seems lost and useless. I had to go spend my money somewhere else. Very unfortunate I am going to have to drive to Lowe's which is much farther now because this Home Depot was only four blocks from my house. Very sad and hard to believe that these things can happen with so many people working in the store when you are there. read more

I'll agree with other yelpers that poor lighting in the parking lot makes it a tad sketchy. That said, they always have what I need and I always find the most helpful employees. I've seen one cashier be so kind to the older gentleman in front of me that it made my whole day. Last night we bought a ton of ceramic pots for like 75% off and my boyfriend left me high and dry pushing those cart bed things through the parking lot. The pots were wobbling and I was worried they'd fall over. Luckily an employee outside saw me struggling and ran over to help me to my car. I have heard rumors about HOME DEPOT and I didn't want to believe they were true until today. They sent a guy to measure the rooms and he asked if he could take pics of the rooms I was kinda leary of that he tried to explain that the pics were to see how much furniture they had to move. Well they were not going to be moving a lot of furniture as we were packing up the small stuff and we told him that! It seems now that he just wanted to take pics so they can see what we have in our home. which to me is an Invasion of privacy! He was there for MEASUREMENTS not take pics of my rooms! I never heard of them taking pics of the rooms when u r getting new carpets. My husband and I were looking forward to getting new carpeting installed in our home until today, June 9th 2017 when we were quoted a price on our carpeting of over $7,000!! And then along with that we were told WE HAD TO REMOVE THE CARPETS because they were STAINED!!! WTH!! And then told us one room was full of clutter! We told them that we were packing up the stuff and they were supposed to move the big furniture anyways. As they told us they would move furniture, but no Antiques, big screen tvs and Computers. I mean really u are paying for a service and they don't REMOVE the OLD CARPET Isn't that their JOB to replace Carpets! This is really upsetting when u want to improve your home and u have to REMOVE the carpeting especially for what u r paying for the service! This is WHACK!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! I've shopped here for years and used to love the store. Not any more. The last three times I have been there have been way less than acceptable. First, we needed a new water heater. We picked one out and the guy carried to customer service to make arrangements for installation. They told us we didn't have to pay for it then but would pay the installers. WHAT!! When the installer called, he said they couldn't schedule the install until we paid Home Depot for the water heater. I went back down to Home Depot to pay for the water heater, and they couldn't find the water heater! What a joke. Then my cooktop blew up. We went down to Home Depot to look at them. They didn't have any 36" cooktops on display. The guy we talked to wouldn't tell us anything about the cooktops except "You'll have to order online." Finally, I placed an online order for three items to be picked up at the store. I got an email the next day saying part of my order was ready. There was only one item ready. A week later, one of the items was delivered to my house. I got an email two days ago saying the third item was on its way via UPS, but I get an error when I try to track it. I went to Home Depot tonight to pick up item number one (which I hadn't picked up because I wanted to wait for the rest of the order). I went to the line marked order pickup and was instructed to go wait in the return line. I waited in that line for 15 minutes. When the same guy called me up and I told him what I wanted, he pointed to another window and said, "Let's go to that window. Our signs are backwards. You didn't need to wait in line after all." Then when he looked up my order, he told me the items had been returned and cancelled and refunded because I didn't pick them up soon enough. Do NOT have Home Depot do your carpet or vinyl flooring installation. Paid the $50 to have H/D do a measure of a 1000 square feet home in Sacramento. Carpet for the three bedrooms and a living room, and vinyl for the kitchen and bathroom. It took almost a week for someone to come out and do the measure and another couple of days to get the price. The carpet and vinyl were a medium grade, such as you would use in a rental property. The existing carpet had already been removed and the slab floors prepped for new carpet. The price quote was a staggering $6059. Home Depot's installation company added on a list of expensive surcharges. Home depot had also informed me that they had a sale on and installation of the carpet was free, however when the quote came back, I was informed that the price of the carpet I had ordered did not qualify for free installation. I contacted the flooring dept to discuss the quote and got the runaround, then asked to speak to the Manager, (Rochelle) who was on duty, got the same treatment and she hung up on me. Anyway, I placed the order with California Carpets, whose price for the same installation was $3159 and who conduct business in a pleasant and professional manner, unlike Home Depot who act like they are doing you a tremendous favor while they take your money. read more

On April 10th i purchased a samsung washer & dryer, a whirlpool dishwasher and microwave, range combo. Delivery was scheduled for April 13. I get a call from samsung the night of April 12th notifying me my washer and dryer werent in stock any longer and that they would replace those with a similar model! I had already given away my old washer and dryer that day, which worked perfectly fine they were just ugly. I had to wait for 10 more days for all my items because they werent going to bring the other items to me until they had a full order. When the delivery finally happened my new dryer was damaged and the dishwasher they wouldnt install due to no air out take thingy on top of my sink! The girl Julie that sold this to me didnt ask me if I had one nor did she tell me they wouldnt install it without one, I even paid for installation! several times through this long drawn out process I had to call the store, Ryan assistant manager did nothing to help me out! Finally three weeks later I had all my items and an uninstalled dishwasher! Each driver that came out to deliver either smelled like alcohol, cigs and or pot!!!! I asked for a refund of 10% to help with the stress and inconvenience of all of this and the trips to the laundromat but it was DENIED!!!!! My biggest complaint was that no one from Home Depot ever called me about the delivery delays, I only heard from Samsung! I would end up on Hold when I called only to get lack of interest in my problems! Store manager, assistant manager and Julie I found to not give a damn about the customer, once they get your money thats the end of the customer service! I now go to Lowes!!!!! They can keep their 10% because they lost a hell of alot more by their bad faith stingy attitude! read more

It's funny how one bad experience with an employee will change my mind about the establishment. I've been coming to this Home Depot for years. Spent thousands of dollars at this location. But after yesterday, I will drive an extra mile to Lowe's. Ryan in the tool department let his ego get the best of him. I asked him if he knew what bolt fit a 10mm socket and he said Idk. I asked if there was someone who did know that could help. He said no. It was obvious that I was an inconvenience. So I walked back to the bolts isle with my 4 year old son to try and figure it out myself. He met me there and started asking what type of thread I was looking for and the length of the bolt and that the hex bolt size didn't matter. I told him all I need is to find the bolts that will fit a 10mm socket. He said he's not gonna try and fit all of the bolts. I told him he has horrible customer service. Then he handed me the socket and said "figure it out yourself." Then I asked him who the manager was, and he replied "go find him yourself." Lol. This MFer obviously hates his job. I complained to the manager and will be calling corporate. I then went to Lowe's and found what I was looking for in less then 5min. If I were the manager (which I am for a fortune 50 company), I would put him in the back away from any customers. read more

Our shopping trip there was amazing today. We were there this morning to buy some pots for our expanding strawberries. The store wasn't very busy and the inside plants were getting some needed attention. Looking good. The main reason for my 5 stars was because of Annette. I work as a cashier and understand how trying it can be being where she is. But Annette was so friendly. Was great with communication and conversation was great. When the transaction was completed she VERY sincerely said thank you and have a great day with a big smile. You just don't het that kind of service thess days. It was very rewarding. I'm a bit miffed about a recent purchase of a near-$900 washing machine from the Madison/Manzanita Home Depot. I wasn't crazy about having to pay an extra $15 for delivery and to have my old machine removed. What made it worse, they (their delivery contractor) wouldn't set the machine up for use (install hoses, miscellaneous parts, etc.) without my first paying an ADDITIONAL fee. That's lousy service, Home Depot! I mentioned this to two co-workers, both agreed with me, and one of them said he got much better service (NO extra fees) on a recent purchase from Best Buy. While I've never been much of a "Best Buy guy", I'll certainly will check them out the next time I need an appliance. read more

My friend and I are nurses who are helping at a local school and we needed to build a seedling box so we came to Home Depot because we obviously had no idea what to do with our supplies and a guy in the wood supply section named Matt was awesome! He went to great lengths to help us find the best supplies for the box and cut them into correct sizes and then even had ideas about how to make the boxes better. Ordered some special paint online. I checked on the status a few days ago and Fedex showed it was delivered at 9:47 a.m. last Friday and it would be ready for pickup on Monday. It stated I would receive instructions on how to pick it up in email. I didn't get the email so I contacted customer service yesterday. They contacted the store and said it hadn't arrived. When I asked about the Fedex notification I was told that sometimes Fedex "does that" - says it's delivered and it wasn't. Please give it another day. So, I contacted them again today and they had "found" the paint and I could pick it up later. I received the email and followed the instructions upon arrival. I had two separate orders and the first was delivered shortly. I told the gentleman I also had another and that I had followed the link for that one as well. Fifteen minutes later another employee came out and asked if I had been helped. I told him the situation. I waited another fifteen minutes in the curbside pickup spot and finally followed the link again and instead of putting in my vehicle info, I just typed in that I had been waiting over 30 minutes... Shortly thereafter it was delivered. Customer service at it's ultimate worst!!! read more

This store is always hit or miss with me. Yes, they can have some really good sales on items. With that being said though, since they have a high turn over rate and alot of seasonal employees. The customer service is lacking. Many employees do not know where things are in the store. Or they do not know basic knowledge. If you are assigned to gardening you should know atleast a little bit about the garden section etc. The only reason why I gave it four stars was because the service I was given tonight by a man in gardening, unfortantly missed his name but you can tell he was there a long time. I don't appreciate a place of business not being clean to the point where a cart can't even go down isle in the garden center. For the location this Home Depot is at it shouldn't be this poorly maintained.
