I frequent Home Depot VERY often due to a taking on a self-remodel of my 45 year-old home... over the past 3 years! It has actually become an awesome hobby, and I enjoy the great progress on my own timeline. I frequent Home Depot in East Irvine at least once a week - sometimes more. One Home Depot associate in particular, Ali, floats various departments as well as helps out at the self checkout registers - depending upon what he's assigned to fit his work day. He spent an inordinate amount of time with me today to help me out with a lighting issue in the electrical department. Staff like Ali are really a HUGE HELP as well as a great asset and a genuine credit to the corporation - someone like him, who actually knows the aisles and will walk you through a fix are worth their weight in gold, and they rarely get told. The best compliment I can give is specifically about his skill, knowledge, resourcefulness and work ethic. He's a true die-hard associate. To him directly, you really know your stuff - especially good Customer Service -- thank you for being so patient and walking me through everything today. I appreciate you taking the time to research and explain what I was looking for as most places don't. You made everything way easier. You're really good at your job, dude. I don't know what it is about this Irvine location that the floor workers not caring or worse. I've been a here a couple more times after the last review. 2 stars because if you know what you want to get, this place is almost fine except for that one time (see past review). I am learning how to paint wood. I was standing in front of the wood stain aisle. I asked a nearby employee if he had a minute to help. I wasn't sure what all the different types of stains or paints that I needed. He just responds that I am already standing in front of the stains and just leaves. If he didn't have time to answer, why say you had a minute to help? The Foothill Ranch and Tustin branches are so much better. I have bought extra due to their recommendations. AND, their recommendations actually were helpful when I used them at home. This Irvine location just keeps disappointing me. I actually just ordered the stain online. Then bought paint from Foothill. I came to this Home Depot today (7/19) to buy some wood to make a Dragon Fruit Trellis for my mom. Once I gathered up the materials, I was greeted by Kai at the checkout. I let him know that I needed some rough cuts done with the wood. He asked me to wait over by the saw as he will page someone to help me. Turns out Kai came and did the rough cuts himself. He did an exceptional job with cutting the wood and prioritized safety first. I appreciate the extra measures he took to make sure we were safe and he was also safe. We stopped by to check out their Christmas trees, and honestly, I'm glad we did. Last year I made the mistake of buying a tree somewhere else for over $150, and it barely lasted a week. The price range here is $25-150. The first thing that stood out was the staff. Lisa was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made the whole process feel festive. They even offer free cocoa and have several cute areas set up for photos, which is a nice touch if you're bringing family or just want that holiday moment. Not all the trees are out on display, but they have a good selection available to preview so you can get an idea of the height, shape, and fullness before choosing. We went with a Noble Fir, and it turned out to be a perfect choice, beautiful, fresh, and super affordable. With how expensive everything feels these days, I really appreciate good customer service, fair pricing, and a bit of holiday cheer. The Home Depot team definitely delivered on all of that. Cashier Joseph engaged in dishonest and predatory behavior toward my father, who is a senior citizen visiting from overseas. My father wanted to purchase an item for my house. When he went to check out, the cashier identified on the receipt as "Sale Cashier Joseph" repeatedly encouraged him to sign up for a "membership" to save $25. My father explained that he does not live in the United States and simply wanted to pay for his purchase. Joseph continued telling him that if he signed up for the "membership," he would not have to pay for the purchase until later. My dad repeatedly asked why. At no point did Joseph disclose that he was actually asking my father to apply for a credit card. After reviewing the receipt, I discovered that my father had signed up for a credit card. We have since returned the item and are in the process of canceling the credit account. I am also submitting a formal complaint regarding Joseph's conduct. Misrepresenting a credit card application as a "membership," particularly to a senior citizen visiting from another country who may not be familiar with U.S. retail credit practices, is unethical. I hope whatever measly compensation Joseph received for signing someone up for a credit card was worth the loss of a customer's trust. I strongly urge management to investigate this incident and ensure that other customers, especially seniors and visitors from overseas, are not subjected to the same misleading sales tactics. A big shout-out to Ben and Jason at The Home Depot in Woodbury, Irvine! I visited the store today looking for replacement bulbs for our outdoor lamps. Ben and Jason explained that The Home Depot no longer carries that type of bulb because it contains mercury and is no longer considered safe for use. They suggested either hiring an electrician to change the fixture or using a converter. After I decided to try the converter first, both gentlemen went out of their way to help me locate the right one. I truly appreciate the extra effort they put in to assist me. The absolute worst experience ever! Spent over $3000 on new appliances, paid for delivery and installation. The installer refused to install the dishwasher and dropped off the unit. It took a few days to figure out what we could do about installation. After installation we discovered the unit had hidden damage from shipping, or perhaps warehouse damage from a forklift which caused the top of the unit to be crushed against top silverware tray. The Home Depot refuses to accept responsibility for it and refers me to Bosch. Bosch tells me it is a Home Depot issue. Have received the complete runaround speaking to about a dozen people in various departments and various levels of the chain of command. My advice... go elsewhere for your major appliances. Home Depot does NOT provide good service and does NOT stand behind the appliances they sell! read more

Located in Woodbury Town Center. Plenty of parking in the front. I often come here and visit the garden session to buy fresh flowers for myself or as gifts today I was looking for outdoor hummingbird feeders and they had a large selection. I picked a few fancy ones and also picked up hummingbird solution, which really is just melted sugar water with red dye. I also got a few begonias and roses to spice up my front garden. Garden staff is pretty friendly and nice if you're looking for help with loading in your car, you will have to wait as the staff that they call can take up to 10 minutes to get to you. I also noticed that you can pay and purchase small items at customer service. Overall a good hardware store as well. They have a wide selection of paints, carpets, and lumber for sale. One less star as sometimes it is hard to find anyone to ask questions or even help at the carpet section or flooring section. We wanted to get a Christmas tree and although I'm always about going to the little Christmas tree patches that bring trees from Colorado and that's what we were going to do, we got to the location and they weren't ready, they had construction going on and had trees set up but they looked less than, and priced twice the price of what you should, anywho, We left that place and came to Home Depot, here they had a section for the trees and really nice guys that helped us out! This review is specifically for this Home Depot store (Irvine Blvd). I used to live by a Home Depot where the employees seemed to have the entire store memorized. Beyond this, they themselves were skilled in trades to some level and they always took their job at Home Depot very seriously. Ever since moving to this area, I've definitely felt the shortcomings of this Home Depot's customer service (Irvine Blvd). Of these experiences, I've had to wait long times just to get help on slow days. Rarely do workers know where anything is. And I've had instances where some workers don't even know basic tool names. For example, I came in one day and ask where I can find digital calipers. The worker looked at me and asked what calipers were... Despite all this, I never really felt the need to leave a review as I ended up just figuring things out myself. This day, however, I purchased two higher end plywoods for about $144, to use as a platform for my bed. I measured everything twice to make sure I had it all right. I asked an employee to cut the panels for me and he politely did so. The individual was very cordial and not rude or anything. I only ran into issues once I got home and attempted putting the panels down to ensure they fit before I treated the edges. Not only were the lengths wrong, which interferes with my drawers closing, but they were also crooked. I ended up having to cut the wood panels myself, as best as I could, considering they were crooked and I couldn't depend on simply measuring edges. This was amongst my less unpleasant experiences here, and I can't even get expensive wood cut straight. Compared to where I used to shop at before, it very much feels like there's no pride taken in providing good customer service. I called to verify if tool was available for rent, held for 5 minutes on the phone then got hung up on. Called back and the young ladies on the phone said that she could check for me. Another 10 minutes on the phone she came back to say yes we have 3 available. I asked what size and she put me on hold again for 10 minutes and came back to say no that tool is not available. I decided to drive to the store 50 minutes on my way to the job. The tools were available so she lied and that's just a waste of time on the phone. She should just have someone that knows how to search inventory and not lie to customers just to get them off the phone. The experience I had purchasing a refrigerator for one of my offices was enough to make me never purchase anything from Home Depot ever again. It started off by their website not accepting my credit card for an online refrigerator purchase. I had to call to place the order over the phone. The agent on the phone did not understand or speak English well. While my credit card worked over the phone, the gentleman kept referring to my personal HD account information (I guess it was tied to my phone number). I repeatedly explained this was not a purchase for myself, it was for my work and I do not want this on my personal account. I even gave him my business email address. I wasn't even using my HD credit card. He still put the refrigerator on my personal account, changed all of my personal information to my office information, EXCEPT for my email. Instead of getting updates to my business email, I'm receiving notifications to my personal email account. Now, I can't get anyone to change my street address back to my home address on my account! I cant even change it myself online! How can you change an address on my account, but then can't change it back? This makes zero sense. As for delivery, the refrigerator was delivered but the installation was not complete because the installer said he needed to drill a whole in the wall. He left the hose near the refrigerator and just left. No follow up. I had to call HD back to get someone else out there. The installer just called to notify me he was in route to install our laundry system hose. WHAT??? Its for a REFRIGERATOR! The amount of time and stress this purchase has caused me is beyond ridiculous and completely unacceptable. I will NEVER purchase anything from HD and have told everyone I come into contact with to stay clear of HD and go to any other major chain for their purchasing needs. They need to do better and hire people who can communicate clearly and correctly with their customers and their 3rd party delivery drivers and installers. Otherwise, this will continue to happen. They deserve 0 stars. The one star I gave was for the installer who thought he was in route to install a laundry system water line. He called to tell me he was able to complete the job the first installer was not able to do. This guy was the only saving grace. read more

There are so many products at this Home Depot, but even for some items you'll discover that they only have one style in store. My boyfriend and I were looking for a bottom shower door seal. They only had one size for that. The solution was buy it online and to ship it to the store for free, which wasn't so bad. I like that he employees here are basically a bunch of dads. They know a lot and shared their two cents with us young adults on home improvement. We're trying to restore our bathroom and needed to repaint and reseal a lot of things. How unprofessional it is to make you wait for more than 30 mins just to tell us to wait another 15 mins by 3 different people. After talking to the 1st person, I had to even come out and asked them myself how long will it take for them to load/unload the Uhaul since first person said it will take another 15 mins which didn't happen. The 3rd person who approached us said one of cutter is on their lunch break and one is helping with the Uhaul. We just needed to have someone cut the wood for us which means that we have to wait for more than an hour just to have someone attend to us when that could have been done in just in 3 -5 minutes. Never going back to this Home Depot location again. We spent an hour at this place for nothing and was a complete waste of time because they failed to manage expectations. During the summer, I was working on improving my patio garden and wanted to get some equipment to add more greenery to my space. I had a stand outside to hold my plants, but wanted to free up some ground space. I was looking for rail planters, but ended up finding some racks and wall mounts. They were super hidden near where they kept the soil, so I felt lucky finding exactly what I needed. The rail planter racks came in a full kit with screws and tools to assemble. Super easy to put together and they are very sturdy. They held up during the crazy Santa Ana winds and heavy rainy weather we've had recently. On another occasion, I came in to buy some screws for a TV stand. The tools for the stand had various screws that didn't work (either too short or too long), so we ran over to Home Depot. We brought the instruction manual and asked one of the sales rep to guide us with what we needed. He was able to pinpoint the exact ones, but the nuts were quite pricey at $1.50 each. We perused the section a bit more and was able to locate some washers to act as spacers to fill in the space to work with what we had currently lol. The washers were like $0.12 each, so we saved where we could to make things work. However, it was still a good experience all around since we were able to find exactly what we needed with some help locating the items. read more

No one is really helpful in this store. Standard answer is look at it on line or measure it or go figure it out. They say the obvious things but no one is knowledgeable in fact "brush off" attitude. "It's not my department I'm only in xxx" then in my mind why won't you call someone in this department? Bottom line customer service is sooooooo pooooor and the only reason I buy here is of convenience since it's near. Everyone is either trying to know and belittle you with probably their high school public education and talk to you about watts and when you explain amps x volts and heat dissipation their argument all falls apart. Explaining to you how to measure the distance between the bolts (which to this day I wonder why) and try to act smart is just beyond explainable. Only buy here if its near you otherwise too many idiots work here without a care for what the customer really needs. Don't expect any useful help since I've been buying here for years now and today I've had it. read more
