The store is always clean, organized, and surprisingly well-stocked, even when I'm looking for something specific. It saves me a ton of time knowing I can usually find exactly what I need without having to visit multiple stores. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and genuinely seems to enjoy helping customers. As a dog owner, I also appreciate how welcoming they are to my pups whenever I bring them along. It's little things like that that keep me coming back. I purchased a solid-core door from this store and only needed about one inch trimmed from the bottom. This is a straightforward modification that should be well within the capabilities of a shop that sells and works with doors. Unfortunately, they refused to make the cut. I even offered to release them from any liability in the event the door cracked or was damaged during the process, but they still declined. I understand businesses have policies, but customer service should include making reasonable efforts to help customers with simple requests. I came here expecting assistance and expertise, not to be turned away. This experience was disappointing and left me feeling that helping customers was not a priority. read more

I go to this Home Depot on Lake Forest at least once a month! It's Getting better. The ladies at the front desk watch you as you self check out. they're either gabbing with each other, or overly observing as if I'm going to forget to ring something up! When I return something most of the time, there's a line, perhaps this is to discourage people from making returns. Whenever I bring something in, it's really hit or miss, getting assistance. There are quite a few that will really know their stuff in the hardware department or paint department, or lighting, the gardening area has been a little bit lacking from my last two visits. They always refer me to somebody there that does the plant orders, to give me feedback if they're going to get that in. And by that time, I usually go down to the local nursery. I believe the last time I was there I made four key copies, and one of them didn't have because it was two-sided something like that, and they were not cheap. I feel like this review is complicated because I've been there perhaps five times, within the last five months, so everything's coming to mind right now. Hopefully this review helps. read more

Worse Customer Service- I hate Hone Depot I hadn't been to Home Depot in over two years because my last visit was such a mess -- no one helped me then, and after today, I'm reminded exactly why. I went in to find a simple fitting for my backyard sink. After asking six different employees, four said, "Hold on, I'll be right back to help," and not a single one ever returned. I spent over 30 minutes wandering the aisles looking for help. I even asked a cashier to call for someone on aisle 19 -- no one ever showed up. Meanwhile, I saw four employees standing around by self-checkout, chatting about personal stuff like nothing needed to get done. I'm honestly baffled how this store stays open when the customer service is this bad. I usually go to Lowe's, where people actually help and care. Every time I am here absolutely no one seems to really care if I get what I need or need any help. I ordered a washer/dryer on 2/12 to be delivered in 2 days per my receipt and signage over the in store appliances. They didn't call 2/13 to notify us a time frame. I called them and they requested for me to call back 2/14 since it after 7:00 pm. 2/14 7:45 am when I called, they it was an inventory delay and they will contact me in 48 hours. 15 minutes later, we received a text "great news. Delivery is scheduled 2/14 1:00-5:00. 2/14 4:15 pm I called and the automated system stated on time delivery 2/14 10:00-2:00. Do the math. A live person said inventory delay.I went to the store and talked with a mgr who would follow up and get back to me. 2/16 9:45 am I called and spoke to a different mgr, super nice. She made phone calls and called me back. First she tried to schedule 2/17, but they wouldn't allow next day so she scheduled 2/18. She asked them verify that the had all the parts and they confirmed. 2 hours later, we received a text for 2/19 delivery?! I don't know if I will receive anything but I am angry! There is no reason it should take 7 days and to keep making promises and keeping them. Their manager was so nice and diligently fought for me. She's the reason I haven't cancelled my order. I had to swing by this Home Depot to pick up some extension cords and some other supplies and it was sooo easy to buy online and choose pickup in store. Another neat feature is that you can look an item up online and select your store and then it will show what aisle the item is on which is super convenient! Warning though if you do pick up in store and select curbside - They don't bring it out to you anymore though - you have to go in and get it but that's not too hard (at least they told me they weren't doing that anymore - not sure company wide, short staffed because of Covid, who knows - but it wasn't a big deal going in). I also had to return something and it was great because the line wasn't a mile long like it normally is at the Home Depots in Costa Mesa, Santa Ana and Tustin. I was able to return something in like 2 minutes which was a record! I liked that this Home Depot was less crowded and seemed to be full of more home purchasers (like me) versus contractors because I had a question about a product and the employees were way more helpful than they normally are at those other stores I mentioned. I also got sucked into looking at their garden section which had a really good selection of succulents and even flowers considering this is the winter! I think I'm going to try to go to this Home Depot more in the future! Even though I still dont get treated 5 star great (being a girl and not a contractor) I was at least treated better here than other Home Depot locations. read more

I've bought major appliances from Pacific Sales in the past and that's where I'll return. Home Depot sold me a bad washing machine. The machine was returned quickly, but the refund dragged on. Sierra, the manager at this location would not even come to the customer service desk to speak with me. She only spoke to the customer service staff on the phone, who in turn gave me her uncaring answers. Home Depot eventually processed the refund, despite Sierra. I won't even buy small products from this location after that experience. read more

The trucks they rent here are total garbage. Broke down on side of road. Taking hours to get help. Steer clear of this location for your truck needs. Now at 3.5 hours on side of the 15 freeway. No help has arrived. Took 4 hours for a tow truck to arrive. Now going on 7.5 hours in this ordeal. Currently waiting for a replacement tire at another Home Depot. No other vehicles available here for us to take, despite what "Bo" told us from the Lake Forest store. Unreal. You'd expect them to find some sort of transportation, even a rental car. This is how Home Depot treats loyal customers? Shop elsewhere. We called the Home Depot and filed a complaint about this location, the truck (which also featured a slipping transmission, a malfunctioning driver seatbelt, and a huge alignment problem), the roadside service call center, and the staff at Lake Forest location. Tow truck driver was excellent and brightened the day. Awaiting any sort of reply or apology from Home Depot. Manager says he can't do anything but zero out the rental. Came in today for several things one of wich was a reverse osmosis so just right there is $250. Couldn't find 2ft fluorescent bulbs, when to the paint dept and two men there ignored us, so we walked away, wood screws where not where they normally would be, couldn't find those, went to lumbar and asked for cuts, was told we need to schedule that up front and come back a different day to have it done. Wasted a good 40min and left without purchasing anything. On our way to Lowes. I purchased a fridge from Home Depot on Lake forest. It was delivered yesterday by two of the greatest guys. The store person sent a message to give me a window for delivery. The delivery guy called and let me know he had one more delivery and then he would be on his way. Then he called again to let me know he was on his way. The guys were so pleasant and helped me check the fridge out. It was perfect. They brought it in and within a couple of minute it was getting cold. 9/13/2023 around 10am I came in to pick up an online order for my boss at this location. The service here is usually pretty average, I was helped at the desk by a new hire I think her name was Deanna, she was a great help! On my way out I was stopped by a man named Oscar towards the commercial check out, he asked if I had any proof I had paid for my items. I showed him the label from the online order and he said that was not enough and accused me of trying to steal.. I was embarrassed in front of all the the customers.. he had to call other employees to come scan the labels and then got out of my way so I could load. I tried to brush this off but then another customer came up to me and said Oscar does this to him every time he is at this location, but was scared to talk to management because his English wasn't very good and was afraid his complaint would just be overlooked. I did not speak to management but I am leaving them a much needed review mentioning their employee Oscar. read more

In the last years, we have purchased some big ticket items such as dish washer, oven along with a custom kitchen counter top which includes measuring, installing...All were delivered in a timely manner and skillfully installed. We were pleased with the results and customer service. That emboldened us to go back to HD for our current project. We decided to remodel our 2 bathrooms, which means new floor, new vanity and countertop. We started the process by actually sit down and talk to HD flooring specialist and design consultant. The result is that we need 3 contractors. It cost $50 for each to come out and measure. After that we go back to HD and talk to the specialists to pick out materials and design,basically to finalize your project. We purchased materials for the floor. HD will call us to pick up when our order arrives. We waited for 2 weeks, no calls. We called HD several times, no one in flooring answer the phone. We came into the store and talked to customer service at the front. They said the order has been sitting there for awhile and they know it well. We informed the front desk that no one ever call us and they apologized for that. Little that we know, its only the beginning of all problems to come. After looking at the two bathrooms, the installer was adamantly refused to do one of them. He said that they are not allowed to install wall to wall flooring. He called his office and we went through all the reasons why they refused to do it. They will come back for that one after we put in the vanity at no extra charge as it was not our fault. A week later, I called installer's office for an appointment. They said HD needs to send them a new order. I called HD flooring Department several times. Once again, no one answered the phone. I had to go into store and hunt down someone for help. Then HD rep said I have to pay an extra fee for installer to return and finish up the work. We haggled over issues for about an hour with all parties involved. The result was what they had promised all a long, no extra charge. Pros: HD has good, skillful and reliable contractors. Cons: on a whole HD could improve on customer service. Starting with something simple like answer the phone. Flooring rep as well as design consultants need to know the products better so they can effectively advise their clients. Example: we took the advice of going for wall to wall flooring. It simply didn't work on the kinda of material we chose. Also we picked Biscayne Oak HERRING bone pattern for the floor. We ended up with regular straight pattern because the planks weren't properly snapped on. And it's done in front of me by professional installer, he tried it backwards and forwards and had a hard time with it. I can see and feel the gap when I run my hand over it. At the end I play safe and let him do the genetic straight lines. This could be a new product and not properly tested out, so we were the guinea pig. Overall we are pleased with the final outcome from custom kitchen countertop ...etc...If you have big projects such as remodeling be sure to do YOUR homework and research the products beyond taking the representatives word for it. Have patience, be flexible and expect glitches. But you can trust HD recommended contractors to do a good job for you. read more

Don't come in at 7:30 at night and ask JOHNNY (older gentleman with glasses) near lumber where the 1" plywood is because he will flat out look at you and walk away with no response.. So of course I question him why he couldn't help me out and he points in the direction of the entire lumber isle. I ask him for his name and he says "don't worry about it." Apparently he was upset that I moved two bags of sand to get a cart from the 20 carts that they have piled with sh** near the lumber isle. This Home Depot is on the "decent to pretty nice" end of the spectrum, as far as Home Depots go - and it is my go-to hardware store for generic home improvement needs. Keep in mind the general rule, however, that Home Depot is for "general" or "generic" home improvement only. If you have a need for something too specific, you probably aren't going to be able to find it here. They stopped carrying manufacturer-specific parts and specialty tools years ago, opting for the more limited "universal part" type of supplies. So if you expect that limitation going into this place, then you won't be disappointed. This location does offer rental trucks (they have two available, last time I checked) and power tool equipment for rent. These things can come in handy if you have a big job and don't want to invest hundreds of dollars in a specialty tool or need to move something big. They also offer kids workshops on the weekends, usually Saturday mornings, which offer pretty neat little building activities for the little ones. These are usually totally free. The kids get a free apron and mini eye protection, and sometimes a miniature hammer. After completing the project they usually get a special patch for that event. Some kids have a huge collection ironed on their aprons, somewhat like a scout uniform. They also have do-it-yourself workshops for all kinds of different things, for the older kids and motivated individuals. The facility itself, and the general shopping center is kept well-maintained. There is a huge parking lot so you won't have much difficulty finding spot. Though the only time this location really gets "crowded" (if you could call it that) is when all of the weekend warriors come out during their days off work. Even though the location says "Lake Forest" it is really Foothill Ranch, which is a total suburb-style bedroom city. So during the week you aren't going to find much of anyone there except for a few contractors and the usual retirees. In addition most of the staff seems reasonably helpful if you have a question or a need. They are reasonable if you have a return, even without a receipt. Protip: if you buy a plant that dies, even months later, they will most likely offer you your money back or a free exchange. I've had this happen on one occasion and took the plant by on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. After typing this review, I realized I like Home Depot more than I thought I did. Go figure. As of this review I've been into this Home Depot five or six times and each and every time I've had superb customer service. Someone is always at the door to point me in the right direction. Someone has always been available to help me find the exact item I'm after or to answer questions I have. When I ask where something is they just don't point or say "aisle 8" they always walk me to the item. Every time the cashiers have been friendly and, the one time I did self-checkout, an employee stepped in and scanned my items for me (including a discount coupon). While I can't say I've had this level of customer service at other locations this one certainly excels. I've been very happy with every visit thus far and have been glad to find everything I need (from door stops and paint to towel racks and wire cutters) to be in stock and at a decent price. read more

This place is a joke. They have one person for the entire plumbing department and they direct customers to wait until the guy shows up. If he happens to be at lunch, oh well. It shouldn't be that hard to check a schedule before wasting people's time. I waited for half an hour and had customer service page him a couple of times. Finally someone checked the schedule and told me he was at lunch. Why they didn't check in the first place, I'll never know.
