Staff: Everyone here was nice today but Sam was the real star. I wanted to buy a Halloween animatronic item but couldn't locate it. I grabbed him from an adjoining area. He was more than happy to assist. In the end he had to search for the item, grab a forklift device to obtain from an upper shelf, and again for two other items in the back of the store. The whole time he was pleasant, friendly, and a true representation of great customer service. Quality: This is a very nice store that is always well stocked and clean. Value: I felt the value was fair. Grabbed two tombstones and an animatronic decoration for under $200. Overall: Had a really good experience today. I am fortunate to have so many Home Depot locations near my home, but this one is my favorite. Many times I will just need a specific item for a home project and finding it, or being helped to select it has never been a problem. For my latest trip, I needed to get a few keys copied. Never having done this before, I read online that this location has a self-service machine and also a service desk to help, so off I went. When I entered the store, not knowing where to go, I immediately saw a big key sign and the self-service machine. Instructions were very easy to follow and within minutes I had three new keys. I enjoyed that there were many blanks to choose from so I could identify the different keys on my key ring. When going through the self-checkout line to pay, I shared my experience with store associate and left the store feeling accomplished. read more

It started drizzling today, so I needed to quickly go buy a tarp, 5:45 AM this morning. I get there at 5:55 so glad that they open at 6 AM. The gentleman at the door would not let me in even one minute earlier. (so I Just stood underneath an umbrella outside as it was slightly raining) Very glad that they're open this early however, I didn't like dodging carts and stockers, and they would look at me - as if wanting to say - go the other way, but even the other path was blocked, by someone's stocking sodas, lightbulbs, you name it. In addition, The ladies at the register area, just seem to socialize with each other (mainly in my opinion, from encounters with them each time I shop here) their assistance once again, really wasn't helpful, (they told me my self-service register I placed my stuff at , wasn't working and they put my stuff at another register and then put it back at the register because suddenly it was suddenly working? and then I left my receipt in register, after my self purchase. BUT but they won't look and tell me, " Don't forget your receipt ." Seems like they are just there to socialize and make sure that we're ringing everything up. There was nobody else making purchases, and I quickly went back to pick up the purchase receipt. In conclusion, If I didn't need the item first thing this morning, I would have preferred to have shopped elsewhere, - unfortunately, the store is becoming like, small isles to get self service register open only, and too much for impulse buyers, and some employees pretending to be helpful sometimes. But There are those that are helpful and knowledgeable, (one just need to discover them / locate them.) So it's still getting three stars, and the value is good. I'm trying to think of some constructive feedback. But nothing else comes to mind. When it comes to buying things to address issues in my house or for a move I think of The Home Depot first. In some ways, this is a great location. It is very large and has in-store purchase plus rental options. In other ways, I'm not the biggest fan of this location. It's very hard to find personnel on the floor to get help. When personnel does help you they usually seem very distracted and point you in a direction rather than truly assist you in finding what you need. I've had odd experiences ordering online for pick up where items were not ready for pick up as promised. This is a close location and a large location so I will most likely continue to use it. I wish it was a little bit more efficient and a little easier to navigate. read more

If you're looking for plant and plant wares and not sure of what you need, you can always drop by Home Depot to wander the aisles! Luckily I encountered a great and helpful sales associate that pointed me in the direction of some plant hangers and was a success! Although other aspects of patio decoration are still on pending, this is the appropriate step to get my pothos off the ground! The hangers I looked for were there and cheap (love it). They rocked it out of the park today (1/19/26) for me. After picking up 6 pieces of wood, I went to the checkout and was immediately helped by someone. Even though it was self-checkout, he helped me ring up my purchase. I needed the wood to be cut in 1/2 and he told me to go toward the back of the lumber section and he will call an associate to help me. After about 10 minutes, the associate in lumber help me cut all 6 pieces of wood exactly in half. Note: For safety purposes, they don't not cut under 12 inches. These are also rough cuts, not precision. They do not cut pressure treated wood. Once the "rough" cuts were done, they all looked fairly even to my eyes. Great job by the associate in lumber. He was accurate, prioritized safety, and was very pleasant to deal with. read more

I'm posting this on behalf of my household after an incredibly frustrating experience with The Home Depot in Lake Forest. We ordered custom French doors and windows in January and paid in full. When the order was delivered in February, one of the doors was both incorrect (wrong finish) and defective. From there, the situation completely broke down. The store team (Dustin and Blake) provided no communication, failed to follow up multiple times, and did not take ownership of resolving the issue. Even after escalating to management, we were told someone would contact us - but no one ever did. The most concerning part was that our home was left with a French door-sized opening covered by plywood for over a month while we waited for a replacement. This exposed the interior of our home to weather, which has impacted our floors. After more than a month, the replacement door finally showed up-with no prior notification or coordination. They are trying to charge us for an upgraded door that was not communicated or approved by us. And their Solution is waiving the fee for the upgrade which was neither shared or approved by is. What should have been a straightforward special order turned into a prolonged and stressful experience due to poor communication and lack of accountability. Based on this experience, we would not recommend using this location for custom orders. read more

My wife and I frequently shop at home depot. We needed a new front door so we went and found one we loved at Home Depot. We thought the installation would be smoother and faster if we let them take care of it. Keep in mind that this was our first time using their installation services. We paid $2,100 for the door and installation on March 30th 2026. Today is June 12th, 2026 and we still don't have a new front door. On the morning of the initial installation we received a call from a person tasked of installing the door. He informed us that the wrong door was ordered and a new one would have to be ordered again. In May, we are informed that the door has arrived and is ready to be installed. Since I'm off the first week of June we set the date for Tuesday, June 9th. The morning of the second installation we are informed in the exact same manner that the incorrect door had been ordered again. I'm not one to complain, but I made an effort to reach out to management. Obviously, I'm not satisfied with the quality of service, the lack of communication and the commitment to getting the job done. I ask for one of two things a.) an expedited process or b.) a discount. I'm told that neither of those two things are possible. All they can do is say they're sorry. Manager says she will call me back by the end of the day to let me know what's going on. I never hear from her again. My wife and I are done, so we cancel our order. Then we are told that only half of the amount we paid can go back to our card and the other half must be picked up in cash in-person at the store. Customer service has questions about such a large amount of cash, so they make some calls and finally give us our money. This entire process was a complete waste of time. I can only speak from my experience, but I would not recommend anyone using Home Depot's installation services. Here is some advice. When something goes wrong have the manager contact the client directly. I don't want to hear from anyone else. Don't wait until the installation day to notify the client, especially when the information could have been shared a lot sooner. Thats completely negligent. When you ask a client to come pick up money, prep the staff so we are not sitting there while they make calls to verify if they should give us our money back. When you screw up make it right. A large corporation like Home Depot couldn't offer a discount or speed up a process. What bothers me about this, is the often times consumers are hit with late fees for payments, or even showing up late to an appointment. Yet somehow a 325 billion dollar company can take full payment for a door, take months to never install it and completely waste your time with no consequences. Completely embarrassing. read more

I ordered an area rug from Home Depot and when it was delivered to my home they did not ring the doorbell and just left the 15 foot long roll of carpet plus the pad that weighs over 200 pounds in my front yard. He asked me who helped me in the garden section and the worker did not have a name. He says " I really wish you got a name I need to confirm who you talked to" and I go on to describe it was a Hispanic girl with long hair.m in the garden section. Pretty much all Home Depot locations are the same. They offer a mass amount of everything home repair related. If you've ever been in one, you know exactly what to expect once you walk through the doors. This Home Depot location is no different. The one thing I will say about this Home Depot, at least when I've been inside, is that compared to other Home Depot's this place is a bit of a mess. Now, I'm not saying this as a criticism. Because the fact of the matter is, anything home repair related can get a little bit messy. But, the thing I notice about this location is that they have tons of their stock crowding the middle of their aisles. In all of the other Home Depot locations I go to, and I go to them fairly regularly, all of that kind of stuff is kept somewhere in the back and the customer never sees it. This is not the case at this location however. Meaning, you may see large blocks of stuff in the middle of the aisles. Other than that, this store offers all of the things Home Depot is known for. I won't go through the list because we all know what it is. But, if you need anything Home Depot related, this is your place to go on El Toro Rd. read more

not sure where to start. I'll look for two different types of plants and neither of the two workers had any idea where to start. He started getting embarrassing when they obviously knew nothing about the area they were working. Needless to say, nothing was purchased in their nursery. Headed over to Plumbing and I had two separate employees come up and asked me what I needed. When I showed them a picture and asked, each one independently walked away without saying anything. It was a bit surreal. I next walked over to Customer Service and asked if there was somebody that could meet me in an area for a specific item I knew they had in stock. I waited for over 15 minutes and nobody showed up. I asked an employee who was the on duty manager, and they told me they did not know. Needless to say I did not purchase anything there. They say it's not their fault, the parking lot is not under their control. They say the parking lot is owned by the City of Lake Forest. My neighbor was extremely annoyed by a man inside the store. The man was "marketing" painting services and would not leave her alone. After she bought her gallon of paint, he actually followed her to the front entrance. Was the man attempting to get work for the laborers outside the store? If that's the case, maybe the store could protect customers by hiring a Security Guard. It's important to note that management, when alerted to this problem, was very responsive to our concerns. Doesn't the City of Lake Forest have some responsibility for protecting business owners and the public as well? I think so! I bet you do too ~ read more

I went in today around 245pm, after shopping , everything is fine, went to the cashier, this is the 2nd time this man helped me, I asked for a few bags because I bought potting mix, big perlite(had a small hole on top, 2 bone meal and a Calla Lily plant, he gave me 2 bags, I asked for one 2 more ( I planned 1 for calla Lily and 1 for covering the hole on the big perlite, He asked :"for what? why you need 2 more bags?", of course he had to give to me the 2 bags I asked for, I said I want to double my flower! I bought big potting mix and big perlite, he did not offer any plastic to place in my trunk for them and he ignored the hole on the perlite bag like he did not see anything, and mingy on a bag????? Last time he charged me one item twice, lucky that I saw before he totalled the transaction. On the 12 of April, I went in this location because I bought twice Steer Manure brand Black Koow, but this time I could find them, I asked one older person worked in the garden about the Black Koow, He pointed to me the regular white yellow bag that was not BK brand, I asked him again about the red bag from that brand, he raised his voice to me and said: " steer manure is steer manure, not things is different", then he went to a lady cashier bad mouth about me that I am stupid, steer manure is steer manure, why asking for too many times? Home Depot is good for some things. Not for plumbers who are professional, it sells the cheapest products. Most if not all are inferior to any American made brand. Consider it the Harbor Frieght of Home improvement. I get it, they are a mercantile ready to sell you every single little screw fitting. Let's see, if you by a disposal at a plumbing supply house, it comes with the cord attached, so you can get in and out. Home Depot figures " "Hey, let's make them buy the cord to". You'll save $35 by going the the supply house. How about a wax seal for your toilet. All plumbers will use a wax ring with 2 bolts, 4 nuts, and 4 washers. Home Cheapo gives you 2 bolts, 2 washers and 2 nuts...then makes you buy the other set you need for $4 more. That's pretty shitty. It leads to customers or DIYers installing their toilets wrong. If you ask, can I put 2-3 wax rings on my toilet because the flange is low, they'll sure. Wrong!! Fix the flange. They'll sell you draino by the gallons. It works great. I bet none of them have ever seen what it does to your cast iron or ABS drains. The only thing Home Depot manages to sell right is wood...oh wait...my bad. This Home Depot is slightly different than the one in Laguna in that they hound you pretty hard at checkout to open a HD credit card.. their move is to try and shame you into opening a new credit card account by saying "if you want to pay more then that's your choice" Some of us don't like to open credit card accounts... Overall there is plenty of parking and its no worse than any other HD .. I suppose it's slightly better for me as they don't accuse me of stealing at this location like they do at the one in La Paz in Laguna. read more

One Staff in the store was really helpful. One gentleman found me what I want. But another staff at around 2024-02-24 3:40PM in the self checkout section ruined the whole experience. When me and my gf walked to the self checkout machine as usually do, she "wow wow wow"ed at us, not in English,I guess it was because the self-checkout machine was in use by her, but she walked way at that time, who can tell it was occupied? She could say "excuse me" or something else in English but After that she didn't explained anything. At first, We just wanted ignored her, to avoid wasting more time to throw this bad review here. We walked to another self-checkout machine. Sadly, the scanner of the second machine is low in battery. We had to return to the first checkout section. Then the lady came to "help" us. we explained we had to come back to this machine due to the low battery scanner. She explained sometimes it takes longer for scanner to wake up. But we saw "low battery was shown on the display of the scanner. And i sensed that probably she won't be friendly to us, I wanted to avoid her. I wish the battery could be "high" instead of "low" in that scanner. Anyways, I just started to scan as usual, After I scanned my second item, she's like "nonono," again maybe she assumed I didn't scan the second item correctly .....but I did, and it's not rare to see self-checkout sections in these days and I've been to Home Depot for many many times, I know how to use self-checkout. Even if don't know how to use it, she either was not teaching me in a good way, she would make me feel like I was an idiot. There is a borderline between helpful and trying to correct others, sometimes it's the line is not clear. But today, in my opinion, this staff really crossed the line obviously and made me feel offended. I appreciate the good guy who helped me find a T10 bit 2package. Horrible experience being ripped off by Home Depot. I canceled a refrigerator delivery order and Home Depot (this store) never refunded me the money to my CC. I caught it several months later and they sent me an email showing the credit but have still never returned the money. I have waited 3 months and wasted more than 6 hours speaking with different reps that always blame someone else. They even blamed my credit card company at first. I get a different story of why I haven't been credited every time I call. Now it's an IT issue. So now I have an IT ticket number on top of my Order number, my Case number and a DET ticket number. I went to the store and the manager, Brett, let me wait 45 minutes to update me and then never came back out of his office so I eventually just had to leave. Pathetic. The forklift driver that was working idle 30 by the cabinets liners, was hauling ass they the isle abd as my husband and I approved the isle he played chicken with us and barely stopped! Not just that we beat up to the isle and he just stood there hungering over us with his forklift with a bothered ride look looking at us like hurry the %#^%# up! This is sadly a disappointing review. I asked a worker if they had any suggestions, and they referred me to Chris, the Assistant Store Manager. When Chris learned that my mother-in-law had just passed away that morning, he expressed his condolences and said he wanted to not only help me put together a package of cleaning tools, but it would be on the store! He got a bucket, brush, package of cleaning rags, and solvent and told me to pick out a bouquet of flowers! I was utterly blown away by Chris's willingness to make an impromptu donation to my family in this difficult time. This experience restored my faith in humanity. Rented a chainsaw this morning. It quit working after 10 minutes. I ended up going thru 3 batteries with my sawzall to cut the medium sized branches i rented the chainsaw to do. I returned the saw after finishing my job and told them it wasn't working as it was supposed to. They checked it and said the chain was shot. OK, I'll take a refund. NOPE. Came here last week to exchange my propane tank and they literally charged me for another empty propane tank. My local Home Depot was out of propane so I called around to see which Home Depot had some in stock and this location said they did. I brought my empty propane tank to them to exchange for a new full tank but the tank they gave me was just as light as my empty tank. In the past the new tank will be far heavier so I asked the man if this new tank is full because it feels suspiciously light. He said all the tanks are full so I went home and then upon trying to use it discovered it was empty the entire time. Charged about $24 for the hassle of driving 30 minutes to the store and then back again with an empty tank even after I asked the employee if he was certain this was a full tank of propane. I called my local Home Depot and they said they would handle it so I had to take the empty tank to them for a refund but since they were out of propane I had to bring the empty tank back home with me again. Been over a week and I still have no propane thanks to this debacle. The "new" empty tank they gave me was also covered in oil and has made my car filthy. I placed the tank on a towel the second trip I drove with it to keep my car from being doused in disgusting old grease. Really displeased with the service here and I will definitely not be coming to this Home Depot ever again. read more
