Alex in the paint section was solo and busy with several guests but when each guest asked for help he was very friendly and polite, as well as helpful. His attitude was amazing. Very disappointed in the Home Depot personal at this location. I went in there yesterday to get a gloss lacker finish for a table my partner is crafting. Now I went the general location of where it would be found a asked a crew member in a Home Depot vest exactly the brand and type I was looking for and that I didn't want it in the spray can I wanted it in a quart as so my partner and put it in his own spray gun. The man looked at me like I was crazy and was no we don't have I haven't even heard of that brand I said oh okay well it doesn't have to be that brand but could you point me in the direction of that product. He then look at the guy in a blue Adidas zip up and was like do you know what she is talking about and he said no I don't think we have that. Then pointed to the spray cans and then was oh well this is probably what ur looking for and it was a quart can of lacker. I said okay well this can be sprayed right and he said yes and then walked away . I bought it come to find out that one could only be brushed on. So great then I go back to return it I ended up picking up some spray cans instead. That same man in the blue jacket was there behind the paint counter I the. Asked him where the stir cups are because I needed to pick up a couple more things since I was already back there he looked at me and was like I don't know. I think we have some plastic cups down on the aisle to your right. And then turned back around to the computer.... I ended up finding the cups that I needed so thank God for that but the attitude and the judgment and the clear unhelpfulness from the crew members. There was really appalling. I've had plenty of other experiences at different. Home Depot's. That have been completely different team. Members are always happy to help walking you to the sections, but I received none of that at this Home Depot. Hopefully, they can shape up their team. read more

Best Home Depot on the Pennisula. I usually drop by when the store first opens and almost always, greeted in person, "good morning!" This is the only Home Depot that employees greet their customers that I've been too. I usually go to the garden center as they have a larger variety of plants in comparison to East Bay. Plants selection is huge and are well taken care of. I find more tropical fruit plants here compared to where I live. Employees are eager to assist. I only had one horrible experience for a plant return with a female Hispanic associate with red hair questioning me. She pulled the citrus tree out of the soil and accused me that this isn't a tree. Given that the tree had died and shriveled up, I return what I had purchased under their 1 yr plant guarantee. She called a manager and no one showed up and was having a fit. She reluctantly processed my return but in the future, I won't try to save a tree and return it immediately once it goes bad because of her interrogation. I used to purchase a lot of fruit trees but it is no longer a hassle free transaction, purchases have been more restricted. read more

You seriously have no idea how "busy" their customer service is. I spent an entire hour calling--either they'd hang up on me immediately or dump me on hold with elevator music until the system eventually disconnected the call. Then I actually showed up and stood right in front of the customer service counter. Surprise: every single one of them was doing absolutely nothing. I called customer service while standing there, watched them pick up the phone, and hang it right back up. They straight-up just don't want to answer calls. Good thing I had time. After calling more than a dozen times back-to-back, a woman finally answered. My request was dead simple: I asked her to page the employee responsible for the tool department, aisle 17, to unlock a cabinet. Her response? "That's not my job. Go find someone yourself. If you can't, go ask a cashier at self-checkout." Incredible. Truly impressive. I've never seen a Home Depot customer service desk this useless. Disturbingly awful customer service experience at this location. A few weeks ago my husband and I reserved a 12 ft box truck for our move this Memorial Day weekend. We packed up our home and were set to pick up the truck at 5 pm today. At 4:45 I received a phone call from the store informing me that the truck is broken and they do not have any equivalent vehicle to offer us. I quickly called the San Mateo location to see if by any saving grace they had one and luckily they did, otherwise our entire move would've been, quite simply, ruined. After securing a reservation with the San Mateo location, I called back San Carlos to tell them to cancel my reservation. They said oh nevermind the truck is actually fine. I asked what was wrong with it? It wasn't starting and the wheel was knocking. Ok, how did you manage to fix that? I don't know but it's fine now. I asked how confident are you, because we're planning to drive ~400 miles in this thing. He says I'm actually not confident at all. Okay! So first you almost ruin our move, and then have zero qualms about potentially letting us drive off in a broken box truck? Complete disregard for our time and safety. Ought to be ashamed. read more

This is a review for Home Depot design services, not the stores. Despite all the warnings, I used Home Depot's design services to do a remodel. For the design portion, our remote designer was absolutely awesome. She gave us a great design and built a comprehensive list of materials to purchase. From there, everything else was not as awesome. Their contractor partners and product partners are all various levels of okay to terrible. It's a shame because it all started off so smoothly. If I could do this again, I'd use their designer along with my own contractor. For anything purchased, I'd ask if it's going through HD or a partner. For example, I'd pick from a local countertop company and get better prices and service. If you do this, you really can get a great product for a very fair price. read more

Worst store! My husband and I went in this morning to buy plants and a bbq. Filled our cart with plants and walked to the garden check out. Two staff were deep in conversation and neither even acknowledged us so we stopped at the self check out and began to scan. The male employee Came over ( after we had scanned 5 of our items) and said "with as many items as you have, you should have gone to a staff register. I said " nice of you to tell us after watching us walk over and grab the scan gun! We then went back in to order/assemble a bbq. Customer service set up as a delivery. We said no, we wanted to order and have it assembled and we would pick it up. She was very confused and called over another staff member. We had spoken to both staff members and they spoke perfect English though when she talked to him about our order need it was in Spanish and decided it was not conveniently available. We drove to Sunnyvale LOWES and they could not have been any nicer and set us up with an order and assembly. They will now have100% of our business! read more

I've been buying house plants here over the last year- out of convenience - but I'm literally appalled almost every time I walk into that section. It's bizarre to me that a company would spend resources (money and floor space) on a department that they neglect, since that neglect results directly in unsold inventory which I assume gets thrown out. Especially when the solution is so obvious. As someone who loves plants, it pains me to see how neglected the plants are. Most are either severely underwater or overwatered, squished together, shoved under racks, etc...I have brought this up to staff but no one seems to know anything or frankly care at all. It's just a shame because it could be a great little section if it was actually cared for properly, and I'm sure someone who actually likes plants and has a little bit of knowledge could fix it up in no time. If there was another plant shop nearby with a good selection, I'd go. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be. Occasionally, Costco has plants I'm looking for and when they do - jackpot! Theirs are always in great shape for less. I bought a 2 gallon, huge and healthy monstera Thai constellation at Costco two weeks ago for $42. Home Depot had some, significantly smaller and less mature for $119 - which I might have bought, if that was my only option, but they got progressively more ragged and sad looking the longer they spent in the store. This is regarding closet installation. Home Depot promptly takes payment but has no sense of customer service or sells sub-standard toxic product. Not only that, they keep lying as well - they keep promising one thing and then decide that they don't want to follow through. They operate more like a scam and take no responsibility for any quality control or damage to the home. tl;dr version: After spending about a year with numerous phone calls and emails along with visits to the physical store, I not only have no closet but also a room filled with toxic odors and damaged walls. We were pregnant when we started the process and had a baby through this stressful ordeal. The process has basically damaged an entire room in the house and made it unusable. But none of it matters to Home Depot. Details: 1. After months of wait (which I was aware of and not surprised by), they installed the closet. 2. The closet reeked of toxic chemicals and filled the entire room. 3. Even after numerous complaints, their response was "yeah, it is expected" 4. After going to the store multiple times, they finally send someone to visit after 3 months. 5. When I asked Home Depot on how to get rid of the odor, he said that the smell is unusual and can't be gotten rid of. He said that they will take away the closet and replace it. He said that something is definitely off with the closet. 6. Athen Butler (District Installation Manager) called up immediately and agreed to replace the closet. 7. The closet was promptly taken away in less than a day. 8. Then I got a call that the closet will NOT be replaced. Athena kept saying that there is nothing wrong with the closet and they tested it. Since it wasn't toxic, they don't owe us a replacement. Everything was normal with the closet and we only didn't want the closet. 9. When I asked for the toxicity report over email, Athena finally agreed that they didn't test anything but all furniture is tested as part of the process. 10. It took us months of calls and emails for Home Depot to agree to pay for repairing the damaged walls (where the closet was installed) and cleaning of the carpet since the room reeked of chemicals even 6 months after the closet was taken away. 11. We had bought accessories by ourselves (knobs, handles etc) which they had taken back with the closet. I asked Athena about who pays for them ? Athena just send those back to us. I don't know what we are supposed to do with them without a closet. When I asked Athena the same, she simply ignored us and didn't feel like Home Depot was responsible for it. 12. Athena kept saying that someone from their insurance will contact us soon for the carpet and wall damage. We kept sending emails and phone calls but nothing happened. 12. After some more months, the claim was actually opened by Home Depot with their insurance. 13. I was asked to find all the contractors for cleaning and repair by myself. 14. When I finally did all the research and sent them quotes, they again went back their words and were like "Lol, good job.. But we won't pay for the damaged wall. Not our concern since furniture was perfectly good and normal. You didn't want the closet because you changed your mind. So, your problem." read more

My husband came and tried to return a water heater out of all the Home Depot's that we have been thru the area ,only this one is where maria said they couldn't accept my husbands Mexican consulate ID even though it was current not even a bank tells you that they can't accept it as long as you have 2 forms of ID .a bank card is another form of ID.Anyways I was able to come in and help him return it with my driver license . We bought this other one we were just picking it up but then we needed manager aproval richley took 10 mn to get to the front .I tried to tell him that why didn't they accept my husbands ID and was super rude loud voice .He said he needed the item in front of him mind you it was a water heater super heavy and they couldn't assist us with getting it down from the truck .long story short we got it down and brought it to him once we got our new water heater first they said we had to take it out .I believe if I'm buying something and need help taking it out that's what Home Depot does helps us but this store In particular didn't do that and aside of that it came dented and scratched from multiple places Maribel said there wasn't a lot of people working the forklifts today ,but there's a lot of workers there that where able to help load it to my car.I just feel like this store doesn't want to sell much and another one there's always a bit in something .i hope they fix the attitude because if they would have better attitude things wouldn't feel so tense. She called the manager, sorted through all of my purchases, despite my disorganization, and had the ability to do it with efficiency. She did all of this with friendliness and a smile. Item is not fully stocked. Many items are not on display. You must inquire them. Also, some shelves are locked. You need to find someone who can open them. The problem is only few can open the locked shelves. Plus, employees here is not kind and not trained. You probably be guided to a wrong aisle when you ask a help to find something. read more

The Home Depot - Outside - Hardware Stores Near Me - San Carlos, California

We have been a long time customer of HD and have ordered hundreds of appliances for our company (property management and real estate sales). Since after the pandemic, the quality of the appliances and the customer service quality have gone way down. Here is a summary of SOME of the recent incidents: Incident #1: Recently, we had to wait over a month (6 weeks) and went through 4 fridges (2 whirlpool and 2 GE) in order to get a working fridge. First two that arrived showed up looking like someone took a baseball bat to the stainless steel doors. One even had black spots inside (looks like mildew or mold). We were advised to change the order to a different manufacturer, so the next 2 fridges were GE brand. The third one arrived with a bad seal (manufacturer defect). The 4th GE fridge arrived (6th week) but during the delivery, the third party delivery company Temco, caused damages to the property (damaged hardwood floors, walls and paint). We were told the store manager would discount the fridge at least 50% to help cover the out of pocket costs (i.e. waiting 6 weeks + to get a working fridge, and for having to buy a mini fridge and the tenants having to eat out during the extensive wait while going through 3 fridges that were defective), but that never happened. The hardwood floors were $17,000 when they were installed and insurance only offered $11K to cover all of the damages to the walls and bamboo hardwood floors. The store manager responded to our emails but directed Temco to cover the cost. The long wait of 6+ weeks, plus having to go through 3 fridges with defects is not caused by the delivery company. This issue is still not resolved. Incident #2: We ordered a microwave rangehood with installation. The first order, the delivery guys from Temco said they didn't think it would fit, so they left. We were told to order another microwave even though the guys did not measure or attempt to install. This has happened before where the driver did not want to do the installation and never verified if it would fit or not. It has been a month and we are still trying to get our refund. Called every week and was told multiple times that our refund was being processed and to expect it in 3-5 business days. A month later, they processed our refund in 2 parts but shorted the refund by $1.89. When we called them to address the refund was short, they told us that we have to drive to the store and get the $1.89 back because Home Depot customer service processed the refund in 2 parts and it is their policy to make the customer drive and stand in line at a Home Depot store to get a refund. I will end up spending more than $1.89 to get the refund (gas and time). Incident #3: We ordered a dishwasher and the dishwasher was improperly installed by Temco, so it flooded the kitchen floor. Then GE sends out some low grade appliance delivery repair company that 1) cancelled the appointment multiple time with the tenant, 2) misinformed the tenant of what needed to be done and the cause was, 3) after nearly 3 weeks, the dishwasher is still not fixed and no compensation was offered for the time wasted, inconvenience, and damage to the kitchen floor. These are just 3 incidents that we are dealing with in the last 2 months. If you want to gamble on getting a working appliance that is not damaged, or possibly have your property damaged by Temco (the third party delivery and installation company that Home Depot uses) or try to get a refund for your online purchase without having to drive to the store and spend time in line, then sure, go ahead and order with Home Depot. I am so disappointed because we have been a long time customer and have hundreds of properties that we order appliances with them for and now we are going to have to use another company to order appliances from so that we do not lose tenants and clients from the poor quality of service we received from Home Depot lately. So I went to this Home Depot to pick up pipe for my dad and one of the guys working there told me to park I'm between the luckys grocery store and the Home Depot anyway, his instructions weren't very clear but I can't blame him he's just a kid working there, so I parked in front of the other large entrance to wait for the guy when one of the guys came out and rudely told me that I can't block the entryway like that. Very rude and unprofessional. Did not like being yelled at by him. I understand that my truck was in the way, and what not but he could have said it nicer. Overall a lot of chaos. read more

I've been to this Home Depot a few times now. I recently moved up from San Jose and as it happens when one moves - ya need stuff. Every time I've gone here my experience with customer service has been terrible. Employees either don't take the initiative to help if a customer is looking lost/confused, or when asked for help they seem inconvenienced, or they are just flat out rude. There are days that I don't like my job either... it happens to everyone... but I am capable of maintaining a professional demeanor. Here it seems that even management is unhelpful and unwilling to engage. Home Depot is such a behemoth that I'm sure negative reviews won't make a difference but do yourself a favor and try to find a smaller hardware store to get what you need if you can. Literally the worst Home Depot experience EVER! Waiting to buy a power tool of course it's locked signs says scan the QR code for help. Two scans and 20 minutes later a third scan and then a message pops up to go to the customer service desk. I go to the service desk. No one's working except one lady at a register close by on her phone... She calls someone to help me... Of course two other customers jump in front so he helps them first (whatever) he gets the tool tool upfront to put it in a lock box...even though I'm ready to pay. I tell the "cashier" overseeing the self pay which tool I have, she brings it up for me and scans it. I get to the car realize I now have a drill not the jigsaw I was buying... go back into talk to her. She tells me it's my fault for not noticing and now I need to go wait in line at customer service. WTF! Now I understand why people steal from here. It's the only way to leave with what you need! LOWES from now on. Worth the drive. This place sucks! read more

Not only was he courteous and knowledgeable about a few items I needed , he knew the exact location and even walked me to them! THIS is the kind of service that is needed these days! I forgot why I stopped using The Home Depot and started using Lowe's...until I stopped by the San Carlos store today while running errands. I stopped in to buy a couple of cans of sea foam colored spray paint for a project. During checkout, I found that The Home Depot finally incorporated a military discount into their checkout system. For a company that says they are military friendly, it was long overdue. They've had the discount, but it was a manual process and they've now automated it. But, today's review is about the mocking the self-checkout clerk just gave me for asking for help using it. I called her over and said, "I need some help, this is the first time I've seen this. Usually, I just show my ID to an associate and they key in the discount." Well, after she was done mocking me, I said, "Which is why I called you over...this is the first time I've seen this." Very surprised in 2024 Home Depot still requires you to insert your credit card into their machine at checkout. With the amount of card skimmers on the rise, stealing people's credit card information you would think Home Depot would move their technology into the 21st century and offer tap. Tapping your card means it's less likely to fall victim to card skimming or credit card fraud. Home Depot needs to leave 2005 and join the rest of us in 2024 and offer tap for safer customer checkout. Also there were four staff members standing behind the checkout counters kind of goofing off and making jokes amongst themselves. A bit unprofessional if you're on the clock. I ordered a new toilet ($800) that was ADA compatible, and they sent me the WRONG toilet (a cheaper version $400) . I did not discover this until the plumber installed it and we sat on it. I called the complaint line, and they said to return it to get a refund which is a bit of a problem, cause we sort of need a toilet !!! Then she said she would order the correct one which I would have to pay for. I asked if Home Depot would pay the cost of the plumber reinstalling it and she said no. Then she said to complain to TOTO who is the manufacturer that actually messed up the order, which is a bit absurd. Home Depot should take responsibility for this error. After waiting for weeks for the new one I hunted around in the Home Depot system and could not find the order. So I filed a complaint in writing. This is not a good way to treat customers. I am ready to go to Small Claims Court if they do not resolve this soon. read more

We frequent this Home Depot a lot since we always seem to need random house things here like screws, cleaners, ant traps, etc. Prices seem reasonable. We've gotten some Ryobi tools here in the past since they usually have these bundle sales where you get like free or reduced price batteries. I've also gotten small succulents here before too since they're pretty cheap, like $2-$3 for a small plant. The checkout experience is nice because they have self checkout stations. They are pretty easy to use. No major complaints, really. The parking lot is a zoo though sometimes. read more

We needed a washer and dryer combo for our rental property. The process was a mess; it took a month for them to deliver the unit to our place. Here's what happened: We got there and the guy was very helpful. He helped us pick a small compact unit. We applied for the Home depot credit card; we paid for the insurance; we paid for the delivery service and hook up service. We wanted the process to be smooth and simple that was why we paid for all the services they offered. Delivery #1: Home depot came but the washer unit was damaged. The delivery guy took the units back. My wife called Home depot to reschedule. 2 weeks later Home depot came. Delivery #2: Home depot came and they only brought the washer, no dryer. It was like there was no communication at Home depot. The delivery guy told our tenants he only read and was told about the dryer. Again wife called and explained what happened to 4 different employees at Home depot. Delivery #3: Home depot came with 3 washers and 2 dryers... It was a mess. Wife told me the story how the delivery guy had covid 19; the delivery guy on delivery #2 gave us the wrong parts... Conclusion: Pam the manager at Home depot was able to help my wife after 1 month. Here's what I learned: 1. Home depot focus on contractors; people who know how to do things. 2. Their 3rd parties have a poor communication system.
