It's always a joy to visit this quaint quirky neighborhood spot. Food and banter are always spot on. Highly recommend their homemade marmalade and other jams. We like to sit at the bar so we can chat with the folks behind the counter and the conversation is always delightful.

Great old school spot with amazing milk shakes as well as the food! Hot open face sandwiches are my favorite. Great service from sweet people who feel like family

Finally a simple diner. The feller serving folks at the counter was very kind and had a welcoming sense of humor. Also kind of looked like the actor Gary Busey a bit. The food was simple diner fare, no frills but when you're hungry and just want a meal with no fuss this is a great option. The chicken fried steak was a little tough and chewy but it was a decent sized piece of meat. The diner itself gives you that hometown feel with fridge magnets and tin wall art. A nice change from a lot of places that try too hard to make an identity for themselves. All in all I would recommend this place for sure. Only change I would make is adding biscuits and gravy to the menu (I didn't see any?). I would say add grits but they probably aint eat that around here.

This mom and pop place was fantastic. You can tell people come here on a weekly basis. My steak, potatoes, eggs, and toasts with strawberry rhubarb game were delicious. My steak could have been a tiny bit more rare but I still enjoyed it. Bob, one of the owners, was a hoot. He is such a people person. He chatted it up with everyone. It was seriously a wonderful experience. I can't wait to come here to have another steak. Let's be real. I'm coming back for Bob. Lol. I recommend this place when you are in Mission Hills in San Diego County. Fun and yum!

They made me feel extra special on my birthday!

I lived in San Diego from 1996 to 2006 and never stepped in this place until June 17th, which was my birthday. I was greeted by a nice man named Corey and I believe the grill lady's name was Janet (I might be wrong on that). I was told what the daily special was and given a menu and a cup of coffee. It's a small cafe with counter seating and several tables. Very old school just the way I like. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, Scrambled Eggs and toast. While talking with Corey, he asked if I'd been there before and I said no and that I was in town to celebrate my birthday. Well, then the Red Carpet was rolled out. I received a birthday counter mat and a delicious homemade Red Velvet cupcake. You have a good feeling being there and everyone was friendly. One of the things I miss about living in SD. I recommend folks to try this little gem in Mission Hills. They'll make you feel welcome!!

When I called to make a reservation for Happy Hour, Jacob let me know that the Happy Hour section was first come, first served. Even more special, Jacob came over to our table to introduce himself and make sure we were enjoying everything. What an amazing personal touch! And our waitress, Juliana, was absolutely fantastic! She KNOWS what's good! Her recommendations were spot-on. We ordered the cauliflower, patatas, and birria quesadilla, and everything was delicious. And the Spring Fling Spritz drinks were AMAZING! One of my sisters is vegan, and the vegan Mezze Platter was unbelievably delicious. She loved it! A huge thank you to Jacob, Juliana, and the entire Gravity Heights team for making our visit such a wonderful experience. When we sat down, we were a little surprised that the brunch menu was pretty limited compared to the photos that originally caught our attention. I'm guessing those were from the dinner menu. Our server was actually so great about it--he told us to take our time looking it over and that if we weren't excited about anything, we were welcome to leave and he wouldn't take it personally. That honestly won us over. Even our kids were impressed by how straightforward and nice he was and decided we should stay. And I'm glad we did. The Crispy Brussels were delicious--seriously, one of the highlights. My daughter loved the Strawberry Shortcake French Toast. My son liked the Japanese Potato Hash, although he wished there was another way to add more protein besides bacon. I had the Hot Chicken + Waffle and really enjoyed it, and my husband had the Nashville Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The food took a little longer than expected, but the service more than made up for it. Our server was genuinely kind, honest, and attentive, which can make such a difference. We came in mostly because we were hungry and running out of options, but left really happy we gave Common Stock a chance. Great food and, more importantly, really great service.

At the entrance it said Wait to be Seated. We waited almost 10 minutes and no one came to us. When we saw it was only one person being the host/waiter/ bartender. He didn't even acknowledge us. We sat where we wanted. They had tables inside and outside. We opted for inside since it was very hot. Bad choice it was as hot inside as outside. I don't know if they had the a/c broken only fans. Very hot and uncomfortable. Tables needed cleaning. We ordered our drinks, I had a Watermelon Mojito and my friend a beer. They had a special of three tacos and a beer for $20. We choose the lunch special of tacos with short rib and fish. We also had the Monster Salad. Food is a mix of appetizers, burgers and a few salads. Service left a lot to desire since it was only one person running from table to table. Salad came first but we waited for the tacos. Food was average, nothing out of this world. At least the pricing was decent for the quality. It was not really an up to standard good place to eat in my opinion.
