The human bean is a great option when you want a coffee to go! They put a chocolate covered coffee bean on top of all the drinks which I love!! The prices are good and they have a great rewards program. The drive thru is always pretty fast. They have a wide selection of drinks to choose from. I feel bad even writing this because I always liked their coffee. Although the drink I used to get was not on the menu. I did just get an iced caramel latte and asked for it extra sweet. This coffee looked watered down, and the ice tasted like bad tapwater ice, I can barely taste any sweetness. And even the espresso bean tasted like it was old. The Human Bean is a pretty consistent espresso stand and you can actually taste the coffee, unlike other popular Northwest chains. I was visiting Phoenix and had a birthday offer to use, so I decided to stop in to this location. The drive thru was a bit busy, so I opted for the walk up window. Definitely a nice option if you don't want to wait in a line of cars! There is plenty of parking, so that wouldn't be an issue unless the drive thru was super backed up. The barista took my order in less than a minute and confirmed that the 24 ounce drinks have 4 shots, which is perfect for me. I always ask because some places skimp and only give you 2 or 3 shots in a 20+ ounce drink. My iced vanilla latte with almond milk was ready within a couple minutes. The drink was pretty good, almond milk usually throws the taste off a bit in iced drinks for me, but I try to avoid dairy. The chocolate covered espresso bean is always a highlight for me and transports me back to the tiny espresso stands in the Pacific Northwest where I grew up. Definitely worth trying if you are looking for a consistent and reasonably priced coffee spot! read more

The iced latte I ordered was actually awful. Espresso tasted burnt and all the ice was already melted down. I ordered a large iced latte with toasted marshmallow and white mocha... tasted like nothing of the two. My son got a strawberry banana smoothie and that was actually amazing. read more

So...I don't really like leaving a not great review for a specific location at a place for something that's not really there fault, but for something that's a larger company issue, but I was at this The Human Bean recently (for the first time) and this particular issue was a problem. Like most coffee places The Human Bean has an app. I love apps. I use apps all the time and take advantage of the discounts and rewards they offer. The Human Bean is the only app that I know of that you have to be on wifi to take advantage of discounts/rewards. When I go to The Human Bean I typically go to the one in Tempe near ASU since it's close to where I live and do things and luckily that location is right by a McDonald's that has wifi you can log into in order to use the app. This location doesn't have a place close by that has wifi so it's impossible to access the app. My caramel macchiato was great though! She had a nasty attitude when I forgot to scan for points and asked if she could add them. She told me I needed to do that before I cashed out. Well you know what, I forgot and she damn sure didn't offer/remind. Honestly, she may not be someone who should work in a customer-facing position; especially not at a coffee shop- you should be fairly happy and jolly. Not everyone is a people's person and that's ok but a simple thank you, have a nice day not just give someone a drink and go on with other things , goes a long way. If I could give zero stars, I would. I stopped by the location on Indian School and 20th St. and ordered a latte -- what I received tasted like watered-down milk. I let the woman at the window know it wasn't right, and instead of responding professionally, she rolled her eyes, flipped her hair, and gave major attitude. She handed it off to the barista to "remake," and I watched as they literally added more water to it. In direct spite of my complaint about it being too watery in the first place. This is a latte, not an American, not a water! When she handed it back, it was worse than the first time. I told her I still wasn't happy and decided to leave and go to Starbucks instead. As I drove off, she called me a bitch. Totally unacceptable behavior. I've never been treated this rudely at any business. Whoever's running this place seriously needs to retrain their staff or at the very least, remind them that basic decency is part of customer service. Avoid this place at all costs. FRIENDLY EMPLOYEES AND GOOD COFFEE! I have been to this chain only a couple times a while ago, but had a Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupon on the app I wanted to redeem. (Be sure to download the app for rewards and deals!) I stopped by this location and told the employee I was new to this establishment, and asked for some coffee recommendations. She recommended the Candied Peppermint Mocha, Cowabunga, and Sugar Mama. I ended up ordering the two latter suggestions. I asked to have one of them iced, and one of them made iced but without ice so I could stow it in the fridge for the next day. My drinks definitely delivered great taste! Also, if you don't like any of their specialty flavor combinations, they have a list of the flavors that they have. These flavors can be added to tea, coffee, energy drinks, or basically anything on the menu to create your dream flavor combination! It's a bit similar to the Dutch Bros menu model! read more

Went in today at 4:45pm, haven't been here in months but I remember loving it here! I ordered a vanilla latte and the latte itself wasn't necessarily good but wasn't bad. I remember past drinks being a lot better. Anyway, the issue was the worker in a red t shirt that was working at the drive thru was very rude. She wasn't helpful when it came to me deciding on a drink, so I went for the most basic one of course. Assuming it was the same girl at the window, she did not say a thing to me other than shoving the tap to pay screen in my face and had the audacity to stare me down wanting me to tip. I would've tipped if she would've been nice. She then gave me my drink, I told her thank you and smiled at her and she completely ignored me. There is a location by my house that for some reason cannot consistently provide me my order, having put the wrong ingredients or wrong ratios in. But this place always gets it right! In general this chain is my favorite for coffee. They have a big selection on milk alternatives like oat , macadamia, almond and more, so I'm happy to now have 2 locations by me. One north and one south. I usually use the app for my points and to pay which is convenient. They sometimes run out of pastries but I'm guessing since food is fairly new they are working to get their inventory just right. I don't know if it's because it's under new owners or management, but I usually get an ocean water and I add cream to it and it usually comes out to seven dollars and some change and this is the only thing I ever get. I pulled into the driveway today order the same thing and it was $10 and some change for this drink. I asked why the price change so much and she told me that they charge for each flavor and for the cream which I understand the cream but if you're advertising a drink that has flavor in it, you shouldn't be charging for the flavors in the drink.. luckily, I learn how to make the drink at home and was able to buy all the syrups, but it sucks but if I am running late and don't have time to make one, but I won't go here because there's no way that I should be paying $10 and some change for a drink.. also, in the last two months, the service has gone down dramatically.
