Human Bean is my all time favorite place to go! The line is always moving! The service from the baristas is always so kind and fun! They have very good drink flavor choices and have very fun holiday drinks! I haven't tried the food yet but have heard good reviews! My go to order is 24oz bright with grapefruit and vanilla! I gave them a $50.00 bill that came straight from the bank that they asked me if i have anything smaller, i said no. then they marked my bill many times and told me they think it's fake, and that they can't take it. after using another form of payment, and leaving with my food. finally i checked the bill and it is the color that it should be to indicate that it's REAL, along with the many other indicators...there's so many ways to check a bill...I come here all the time and i've never had any issues till now...you need to train your workers better on how to read money read more

When we discovered Human Bean we were there almost everyday on our trip. I really enjoyed their mocha and latte. It's been by far the best I have tasted. What I enjoyed most is the chocolate covered espresso bean. Those were the best. I did bring home a few bags, and are now almost gone. I do miss their latte. Horrible service! I got the boba and said light ice and when I got it was so much ice. I went back and told her she put too much ice and she took some out and put more milk tea. When I took a sip it takes like rubber so I kindly asked if you could make me something else and she declined so I asked if I could speak with the manager she replied saying that she didn't know the mangers phone number than said that she was the day-manager. Later than she said that she would make an exception and make me a new drink which I picked hot chocolate with NO whip cream when I left I opened the cup and there tons of whipped cream, I didn't feel like going back so I just threw it away because I can't have it. By far, my favorite coffee place! And not just because their drinks are so awesome...the baristas are the BEST! I'm always greeted by happy faces and kind chatter. They really are so fun to see - and this is always PRE-coffee of course, and super early in the morning. It's not fake and boisterous like some drive-thru coffee spots. And It's a huge bonus that I've been seeing the SAME people working there for as long as I've been drinking Human Bean. They truly seem to enjoy their jobs. Another bonus - when I drive up and they see me coming, they start my drink, so often when I get to the window, it's already ready for me! Their drinks are definitely above average too! They are consistent, so I don't have to wonder if my drink will be too sweet, too milky, too anything. It's always just right. Their coffee doesn't taste burnt. And they will make it pretty much any way you want it. AND they have truly amazing non-coffee drinks too!! For a treat I love their "Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie"...decadent. They also have punch cards...a free drink for every ten. Makes a difference when you drink as much coffee as I do! I highly recommend this location! At Christmas this year I gave Human Bean gift cards and just yesterday one of the recipients told me I had gotten her hooked! She is super impressed with their drinks as well as the people working there. I don't have a single complaint, except maybe that once I got a straw that was shorter than normal. Haha! Over the past several years as a daily customer I would have to say they have been ok. By ok this means the coffee has been good but their attitude not so much. Their coffee is certainly better than the ones down the street that serve diabetic coffee to kids but on the whole they are not bad. Is Human Bean Pricey? Yep. Do they offer good service. Not bad but on occasion they do have attitudes that really stink to high Heaven. I have been even asked by baristas there to go and pick up breakfast burritos for them and come back. Guess they feel customers can and should be asked to help them with their breakfast planning. I try and be nice and have done this on a couple of occasions wishing to to be supportive and conscientious of their inability to leave but having supported their needs they render a lack of care in return. Its's a one way road when simple respect and professionalism seems to be logical in both giving and returning they don;t seem to grasp this concept. Let's talk their staff. - Kim - Regional Manager - Doesn't take 2 seconds to say hello when she is working. With customers that do 150.00 a month at their establishment one would think she could say hello. But no. Not possible. Too busy talking some poor person's ear off while the line grows and grow. She is nice on the surface but you can tell its fake. I don t think she understands service or has never extended it to me. Heidi - Manager - Better catch her in a good mood between the hours of who knows when and who knows whenever otherwise you get the cold, hard look of go F yourself and I have better things I would rather be doing that being a barista and making coffee for a living. Geena - Oh boy. She thinks she can criticize you or be playful and insult you at the same time and should anyone ask her in a professional caring way about how she is doing she cops an attitude. She plays by her rules and is very insensitive to your needs. She makes the rules and then changes them on you. She insulted me so much in the span of 3 minutes on one occasion and then to top it off things its professional to say good bye as you leave their coffee shack with her frequent comment "smell ya later"! This comment is both insulting as it is disgusting for someone that should be courteous and professional just simply is not. Then of course she admitted she is Kim's (Regional Manager's cousin) so I guess it is who you know that keeps you employed. All in all I am dumping this place for a better experience. Their coffee isn't that good and certainly isn't worth the price and their petty attitudes and personal fiefdoms. At 150.00 per month in coffee I can do better elsewhere. They aren't worth it and you will find many other wonderful coffee places within a short drive of their establishment with far less headache and less drama and night class requirements such as barista sensitivity training 101, how to insult your customer 301 and graduate course work in how "I just don't give a damn sir" 501. Bad experience grande, yep. Stick that in your 20 ounce cup and drink it. read more

I go here almost everyday! I'm lucky it's so close to my house. All the baristas are very friendly and always remember me. If they see me in line, my drink/s are ready by the time I pull up! And my dog loves them too! She always gets her morning a morning dog treat or two ;) Sometimes the wait can take a bit longer, but that's with ANY drive through service. Sometimes I get a big box of coffee for my work crew and I'm there for 10 minutes, but whoever is working always comes out of the little shop and gets everyone behind me taken care of while I wait. I first found the human bean while I lived in Colorado, my favorite one was in Fort Collins. It's a drive thru coffee stand, windows on both sides. I recently moved out to Portland, Oregon and found one in Beaverton. I was pretty excited, they have some awesome coffee and I like the fact they have a punch card system, buy 10 get the 11th free. The staff is always friendly and will always answer questions and offer suggestions. One of my favorite drinks is the snowy mocha iced, it's a white chocolate drink with espresso, I always add hazelnut to it always comes with whip cream and they top each drink a chocolate covered espresso bean. I always ask for a few extra and they always give me a few. They pretty much offer just about anything you can think off. Awesome selection off flavors and in the mornings they usually have a selection of pastries and fruit. Stop buy and check them out, they are super nice and always like to support local small businesses. read more

I decided to finally give this place a try. I had a Green Tea Smoothie and the Strawberry Parfait. Both were really good. Even though there were quite a number of cars ahead of mine, the line moved fairly quickly. The girl who took my order was friendly and courteous. Way better than Starbucks!!! You get a chocolate covered bean and they aren't stingy with the whip cream like Starbucks. Reviewing drip coffee is a bit extraneous, especially since It's more about bean quality and roasting technique than actual execution. Nevertheless, the fact that they give it to me in a 32 oz. cup pleases guys like me - The kind of guy who is happy when people give him more than he needs, especially when it's a cup full of liquid caffeine.. I occaisionally get a cap, wet, w/ cinnamon + vanilla and have never had a bad one. I'm a bit introverted, so when I have lovely ladies and cool dudes trying to spark up even the most rote of daily communications, I feel better about myself and am strengthened to step outside of my comfort zone later on in the day. We all live in the same monotony, and maybe we can't please all the people all the time. But, you'd be surprised how much a simple smile and being remembered can change one's attitude. Speaking of, My dog is basically VIP at Human Bean, (ask for the whip-cream lollipop if your dog is healthy and able to enjoy processed sugar,) and I'm pretty sure you'll find him in the annals of the Human Bean instagram if you look. On to my only suggestion, a fold out chair and a small table would be awesome, I honestly would sit down and do some light journaling if there was a place to loiter on the patio. (Wait I already do loiter. Owell, I blame Heidi, she's just so sweet and I love it when she flips her hair!) TLDR: A- Drip coffee (could use a more robust bean or even look into coldbrewing for the hot summerdays) A+ Service A+ Speed (I use the walk up window) A+ Punchcard with buy 10 get 1 free. This used to be our favorite coffee drive through. Unfortunately, the service has been terrible over the past few months. We will bullet point this one for reading convenience. - The baristas are always too busy chatting with each other to hear our order correctly. (Seriously, how many times can we confirm that we DO want whip, then still get handed a drink without whip? The answer is 3.) - A few weeks ago I was told that they didn't make cherry smoothies, despite my daughter having ordered one every trip we had ever made previously. A little back story here - my child has aspergers and was very distraught to have things change suddenly. This was very frustrating at the time. To add insult to injury though, today I learned that they do in fact make cherry smoothies, as we had been ordering all along, and that the prior barista was incorrect. - The straw that broke the camels back came today when my coffee order increased in price. I was informed that apparently the non-listening baristas have been charging me incorrectly each time we come (twice a week), since November. (For all you future yelpers, it is now April.) - Following all of the above, I asked for the managers card. I was met by a loud and abrupt lady who identified herself as the "Portland District Manager". She stated that I could call their marketing lady, and wrote a phone number in sharpie on the back of a blank receipt. - I shouldn't be surprised, but the phone number she gave me was invalid. Not even just to the wrong person, but not actually a working phone number at all. I'm not sure what changed over the past few months, but it has certainly been all down hill. read more

I had three drinks that were obnoxiously modified (one decaf, one kid mock coffee drink and one hot to blended drink) it took them a few questions to clarify what we wanted and I'm sure we sounded so annoying but they were so nice and tolerated us with flare!
