As a delivery driver, I need my coffee! This place is incredible. The girls that run it are outstanding service top-notch it doesn't matter how long the line you're not gonna wait too long you jump inside everything's always clean.! There's a lot of coffee shops in town and a lot of corporate coffee shops. This is my preferred. What's going on here? I waited 15 minutes for a simple coffee drink. This black rock used to be stellar! They somehow lost my identity in the points system. I've been signed in since the day black rock opened. Feel special? Try a different place. Maybe the barista was new, couldn't get caught up. Get a manager in to help them out!! read more

Stopped in this morning for a mocha. I was on foot, and pleasantly surprised that the sidewalk from the corner was completed so I could get there without walking on the road. Order a medium mocha, reasonably priced. This place does an unbelievable drive-up business, but they had my mocha for me in like 2 minutes. The service here is super friendly. I sat inside to drink my beverage while I checked e-mails using their free wifi, and while I was there an employee was mopping the floor. She struck up a conversation, asked how my day was going, etc. How nice, she could have been cross from having to mop the floor but instead initiated a nice chat with me. Kudos!! Black Rock is coming to Tucson where I now live, hope they build one near me!! Oh, and the mocha was delicious - very creamy with a smooth chocolate flavor. read more

Black is always consistent with their drinks, service and stores. They started here in Oregon and have expanded across the west and south of the US. Kudos to a local company doing well. You get the local feel and watch the success of the chain from local roots. I have always loved Black Rock because of their attention to good coffee drinks great employees and love how they are spreading their wings. This location was not a departure from what I expected, it was my first stop at this location. I am not interested in the Big SB even though their roots are NW, I am just not a fan of the overly expensive milk and sugar filled drinks. Yes, you can customize your drink at SB but it will cost you a lot more. Black Rock makes the portions perfect on all sizes. read more

Moving nearby, I was excited to initially find a smaller local chain to support as my local coffee shop. My history with the Garden home location has been a long going effort of optimism that rarely has left me happy with my choices to go here, with more consistent negative experiences than positive, and yes, I have actually been counting. Instead of a full rundown of the last 6 months, I am going to outline the last 3 times in the last 2 months instead. My most recent visit was the icing on the cake for me. I mostly get my own coffee at home so when I go out for a drink, it is usually a treat. I don't order super complex drinks either, just an iced coffee with some flavor. This week, I visited on a Wednesday morning, actually going inside the store to grab a drink instead of the usual drivethru option. When I walked up to the counter, there was a young girl adorned in long dirty blonde hair, heavy eye makeup and baggy jeans to my left, leaning on the counter where all the syrups and machines are. She was in my most direct line of sight. I could very clearly see her and I know she could clearly see me, plus she turned and looked at me upon entering. Needless to say, I was disappointed to see the baggy jeans girl look at me with the look on her face of "I am working so I can pay for my car insurance because my parents are THE worst and won't pay for everything" and then quickly look away, with zero pausing from her conversation about weekend plans with a coworker. Despite my initial thoughts of "Hmm, last time I checked, I am a customer here so a greeting and acknowledgement is usually a reasonable expectation" I ordered from the second girl behind the counter, across the walkway behind the counter, to my right. One consistent issue I have with this location is also how somehow my simple order of cold brew, light cream, and some sugar free flavor, is consistently messed up. The consistency comes in how much cream is dumped into my drink, or actually using sugar filled instead of sugar free syrups, which I can taste. Today was no different, my order came back with so much cream it looked like a light chocolate milkshake. But if it meant I would be inconvieniencing the girl standing behind the counter from her apparent job of ignoring customers, I was not interested. Alas, after setting up my laptop, I realized I needed wifi information. I am approaching from the right, and with her facing to the right because that same conversation with the other girl ensued, I was hopeful she would have a better chance to maybe... I dunno, try? Nope. She looked straight at me, long enough for me to start asking for the wifi info, only to look away. I verbatim then said, "Excuse me?!" baffled how that could be what anyone thinks is acceptable behavior. Yet again, the same (other) girl from before ended up giving me the info, but it was also super awkward. I am fine with everyone having different levels of enjoying working with customers, but if pausing a conversation to help someone order is too much effort, then I hope management has the ability to re-evaluate if this girl is in the right role or perhaps give her a memo that having a job now means you aren't the first priority. I won't be back, no matter how many morning walks will take me right by this location. read more

The people that usually take my order are pretty great but this morning at around 8:15ish, the people that were here today left me standing there 10 minutes at the front register without saying hello or saying sorry / just a minute please. I understand being busy doing orders but having worked in customer service and food service, I would usually say hi just a moment please but all they said after 5-10 minutes of me standing there was "do you know what you want?" Without having acknowledged me before that. It was pretty rude. Luckily, the person who was taking orders outside took my order and after waiting another 5 minutes, the people in the store told them to make my drink which means after at least 10 minutes, they didn't start my drink and didn't say anything to me about being busy/ late with my order. Came here for the first time today and this place was great! We are in town from sacramento and found this place near our Airbnb and were so surprised by how much we enjoyed it. They offer iced coffee's up to 32 oz.! Grace made the best iced and blended mochas for us and she was so sweet. So sad we don't have these in Sacramento, CA! read more

Easy. Traffic moves fast. The young people at the window and brewing are friendly and engaged. Good coffee, assortment of non-coffee items for adults, and young ones. We keep the kids to-go cups and re-use them for homemade smoothies, over and over again...they're great quality. This is a great spot, it is very open and spacious, good for hanging out. The baristas are extremely efficient, and I've never had a bad drink here. I especially like the coconut mochas. They've also switched their punchcard to a digital system, always nice to have one less card to carry around! read more

This place has got a great staff and the quality is always good. The pound cake is a hit around my office. I tend to order the same thing every time, an amaretto latte, and even though they don't have amaretto they can whip it up for me. So accommodating. I got a flat tire very suddenly on Garden Home and pulled into the parking lot at this location to survey the damage. I must have looked distressed because one of the baristas came out and asked if I needed help. She and her coworker ended up being incredibly helpful, making the whole experience much less stressful than it could have been. I have always appreciated the friendliness of the baristas at Black Rock, but these two workers went above and beyond to help a stranger, and I am still in awe. read more
