The customer service was great And they were very friendly. They got the drinks I had ordered done quickly, much faster than Dutch Bros. I prefer them over Dutch and Starbucks. For a coffee shop, poor brewed coffee. I'm sure their frappes taste better but I feel plain coffee is the most important drink at a coffee shop. I also had the Italian creme breve which was okay. Lovely people behind the corner though and prices were fair, service was fast and friendly. read more

Five stars for an excellence experience: coffee, speed and special touches. In the most basic sense, this is like any other California-drive up coffee shack. Compared to say Dutch Bros., this coffee is much, much better (and the former is good). Unlike say Starbucks, The Human Bean's coffee is not burnt or bitter or meh. There are a good number of coffee shops in Rockln (and in the greater Roseville area) but this is a good stop. The special surprise is that they give you a chocolate espresso bean on the top of every coffee. I believe Fridays are also lower-price days, too. (I'm too lazy to look it up.) Hands down my favorite coffee spot in the area!! I remember always driving by it and not thinking anything of it because it's just a drive thru, no tables and chairs to sit and chill at until finally, my boyfriend and I decided to try it. I started my order with, "This might annoy you, but.." and he just laughed and helped me figure out what drink I'd probably like based on with I usually order at other coffee shops. Was a regular here for almost 2 years. Starbucks and Peet's were never my kind of place, I used to be a Dutch Bros regular until the parking lot got too full. I tried this place out years ago and fell in love with the coffee and their service. This is past tense. Because over the years they have proven that they're only going downhill. This one star is for the first year they were good. Probably because they had former Dutch Bros employees working there. Human bean used to have better customer service than any coffee shop I've tried. (I'm not exaggerating, they were fantastic!) Today in the afternoon, we decided to stop by our favorite coffee spot, only one car was ordering. I understand they have conversations and I appreciate it. BUT, this last for more than 5 minutes! No one else was in line! Just one car! And the lady working saw what was happening and kept on talking to her, even did handshakes and continued to talk. All while the shift manager is inside looking at us, knowing well enough, that we've been waiting for almost ten minutes. So we're in a bit of a hurry now, my Dad never loses his patience. But today he did. We backed out of the drive thru, angry, but still eager for our coffee. So we parked and ordered at the walk in window, the same lady that was having the longest conversation took our order. She did not apologise. She glared at us. No "Hi" just a "What do you want?" Rude am I right? It doesn't stop there. She continued to glare back at us while taking other orders. Once we got our coffee we talked to the manager. The manager apologized, saying "we have regulars that want to talk to us". We are regulars! Since they opened! We know that we shouldn't be having a long looong conversation. The manager really tried to end it like that.. My Dad asked for us to at least get on extra punch on our card. The lady! She laughed and smiled at us and walked off! I wish I had her name so I could put it in this review so the owner can reteach they're employees what customer service is. It has slowly been getting worse at this establishment. I truly loved this place but that experience left a bitter taste in my mouth and I'm not talking about the coffee. They lost three regulars today over one regular. Worth it? read more

I have been coming to The Human Bean for a couple years now. Unlike other coffee shops in the area, this one is exceptional in service. The staff are not OVERLY excited (in a good way) like some places. They do not hang out of the drive up window into your car to chat... I'm just not a fan of that style. The staff is always willing to recommend different items or different styles of coffee they like. I recently tried their cold brew, and it is amazing in comparison to cold brew you would get at Starbucks. There are hints of almost chocolate like taste to their coffee beans which I love. This makes it easy to skip on the sweeteners if you're not a fan. read more

In terms of their drinks, they're really good. I have no issues with the drinks. The people are also super nice and always willing to help me if I'm not too sure of what I want to order that day. But I had an experience that will literally leave me physically scarred and will make sure I never return to the Human Bean. Quite a few months back I ordered my usual hot tea on my way back to the house where I nanny after picking up the girls from school. When they handed me the cup I made note that the lid easily popped off no matter how gently I handled the cup and that the lid was not their usual lid with the sliding piece that closes the opening that you drink from. When I asked about the lid they said they were out of their normal lid and waiting for a new shipment. I left the cup in the cup holder until we got home figuring that the tea would still be too hot for me to drink yet anyway. We pulled into the driveway and I parked and went to get the cup out of the cup holder making sure not to pick it up by the flimsy lid they used that day. I picked it up from the cup NOT the lid and instantly the lid popped off and the hot water spilled all over my hand causing me to literally scream. It was so beyond the temperature that hot water for tea should be and has been in the past when I ordered from there. My skin actually felt like it was melting. I scared the girls I screamed so loud. I set the cup back in the cup holder and left it there. My right hand was completely useless the rest of the day because of how bad it hurt and the skin that was hit instantly shriveled from the heat. I called the next day to complain mostly because of how obviously flimsy the lids were that they were using instead of their usual lids and also because the water was clearly much hotter than usual to the point where it caused a horrible burn. I was lucky it was my hand and not my face. The girl that answered apologized and offered a $20 gift card. She also admitted that they use those when they run out of their actual lids..... AND THAT THEY HAD BEEN GETTING CALLS OF LIDS POPPING OFF ALL WEEK. Um..... why were they continuing to use them then?! That's a great way to get a lawsuit guys! Get different backup lids before you get sued or start ordering more of your usual ones when you order for the month or however you do that. I went later that day to get a coffee and pick up the gift card. They gave me my coffee for free which I appreciated though I was still super scared to drink it. It was also the same lid that had caused my burn the day before so I literally ended up leaving it in the cup holder and not drinking it. And then they gave me the gift card..... and it was only for $10 not $20 like the girl offered. And though the girl said she was working until 3pm that day when I pulled up around 2 she was already gone. How convenient. I haven't been back since. I don't even care to use the $10 they gave me. I waited to post this review a few months to see if my hand would eventually go back to normal. Not a chance. I now have a permanent 2 inch scar across my right hand from being burned by their water that was WAY too hot and faulty lids that they admitted were being complained about. It took me nearly 3 weeks alone for the pain to go away and they think $10 covers that. Good job Human Bean. Lost and physically scarred a usual customer because of clear negligence of their product. I'm a guaranteed Starbucks drinker again. If I can figure out how to post a picture of my hand, I definitely will. read more

This is my favorite place to get my coffee. I drink the espresso drinks and the quality of espresso is very good. I go for the sugar free flavors and it is nice that they have them. My husband and I were here to get coffee and we had mechanical issues with our truck when we were in the drive thru. Unfortunately, we blocked both sides of the drive thru, but the employees handled it so professionally. They came out and took people's orders from their cars and hand delivered the drinks. I've been here half a dozen times before I posted my rating and the service, juicy drinks and coffee are consistent with my rating above. Since the coffee is so mediocre (weak and bland), why would anyone prefer this place over say, Peets or even Dutch Bros? Also if you follow them on facebook then you can see when it is happy hour and they have special prices. I was eyeing this place for weeks now and finally got a chance to try it. First off, the drink that was recommended by the helpful staff was awesome and hit the spot: snowy mocha made muddy. Just the right sweetness and flavor that set my afternoon in the right direction. To top it off they gave away free oatmeal and had a signature chocolate covered espresso bean.
