Something not right - the ice cream served here was very soft and melty, maybe a problem with the freezers. Went here with friends after seeing Gray's had good reviews for ice cream. I tried the ginger and lemon ice cream flavors, my friends got some others, but the others said that their ice cream were not good and threw most of it away within a block of the store and said worst ice cream that had had. So disappointing! We had driven here from Newport just to try Gray's! I thought my cone tasted okay, but it was very dripping, even on a cold day in the 50s, it was already running down with melting, texture not right. Not sure what, was more soft like a custard or soft serve than a hard pack ice cream. We moved on towards some other stores but my friends were so bummed we didn't try going to any other ice cream stores later that day. We had really good ice cream the previous day at another location, maybe my friends were just grumpy with the comparison, both shops had excellent reviews in yelp. I'm hoping this was a one off problem with the freezers, but they should have sold ice cream that was having a problem.

Grays Ice Cream is located at the end of the pier next to Thames Bar and Grille. This is an extension of the original Gray's in Tiverton that's been around since 1923 and just as good, featuring waterfront views and fantastic treats. We had lunch next door at the Thames Waterfront Bar and Grill and this seemed a natural way to finish off the lunch meal. It was fairly warm and the cool ice cream just fit the scenic view and made a complete finish to the recent lobster roll. This location is more shack-like with cedar siding and a huge painted medallion of an ice cream cone adorning the gable above a small ordering window. While Gray's doesn't have dedicated seating, there are many benches and rails where you can eat in peace while enjoying Bristol Bay. The ice cream itself is quite the delight - it appears to be a high-milk content/fat variety that is very homemade in consistency and flavor, I sampled the pistachio (which I highly recommended) before going with the coconut which was delicious. My friend Sid went with the Cookie Dough which was also quite good. If you love ice cream as much as I do (and it's really the only dessert that I can't say "no" to) then you'll try Gray's. Note that this is a cash-only business. (also posted in slightly different form to my food blog)

Nightly special: Coffee Oreo( already a few licks in, I couldn't help it!)

In a party of 7, they made sure everyone felt special. For my nut allergy: they made it evident their ice cream was processed on a line with nuts but they scoop with a separate scoop in a new container of ice cream. This was greatly appreciated. The ice cream was very creamy, some of the best I have ever head. Perfect ending to a night in Bristol.

Gray's Black Raspberry Ice cream and a waffle cone of course!

Excellent ice cream. Had the coffee chip and would get it again. Strong coffee flavor, and nice chunks of chocolate.

The best ice cream in Rhode Island! Gorgeous spot in a beautiful historic building. Cheery service. Yummy Vegan flavors, too.

Excellent ice cream place. Large portions, big selection, fast service. I had the mint chocolate ice cream and it was great. Recommended.

This ice cream is good, but it is hard to go wrong. Too sweet for my taste and I'm not a fan of the artificial colors.

Found out about the Warren location when my sister moved to the area and added it to my list of places to go to next time we were in town! On this visit, we decided to take the kids on a bike ride to Tizzy K's while my sister and I ran with them on the bike path. Upon arrival, they had perfect signage leading from the bike path to establishment. Great advertisement especially after we had ran 2.5 miles one way, we were more than ready for a treat! The ladies scooping ice cream that day were very friendly and helpful! My kids and + I shared 2 scoops of the Fruity Pebbles and 2 scoops of the Cocoa Pebbles w/ Thin Mints (this one I wasn't sure of, but it totally worked!) Two scoops was more than enough! We got 2 ice creams so it was ALOT for the 3 of us to share. But no complaints, we polished it off and left with happy bellies! It wasn't busy when we first got there so there was plenty of outdoor sitting and what looked some indoor seating as well. Loved the outdoor set up and vibe. We will totally be back again!

They informed me about their ice cream and how it is different than other ice cream places. The ice cream is milk from cereal flavors. They have a different menu each week. Service was super friendly and quick. I was able to try a couple of different flavors. The outside was simple and just a good place to relax while enjoying ice cream along with the breeze. AHHHHHMAZING ICE CREAM! I definitely recommend. I will be back for more flavors. I'm hooked!

I now live on an island - and you bet that when I went off-island last week I requested that my dad stop here on the way home from Hyannis. My dad had to say yes; having worked in the ice cream industry in his youth, he knows a good cone when he sees one and Somerset Creamery tops his list as well. Embarrassingly, we got there 10 minutes before they opened. We camped in the parking lot. When it was time to go in, I already knew what I was getting. Chocolate mint ice cream in a waffle cone. First of all, it is the best ice cream flavor ever created. Chocolate and mint ice cream with Oreo cookie pieces. What else could you ask for?? And then their waffle cones and made fresh and they are oh so good. The service is always great, and they now take credit cards!! I cannot recommend this place enough. The only downside is that they do not have any dedicated seating, inside or outside. There are some planters of sorts that you can sit down on. Once I sat on one for three hours for a first date - can't say I recommend that. But if you want good ice cream, come here! (Yes, it is better than the Barn in my opinion).
