I have been taking my car to the Import Mechanics for over a year and I can say through my experience with them that they are top notch mechanics. I own a Subaru WRX and I love my car. It took me some time after moving to Denver to find a mechanic that I trust with my baby. In my experience not only are they able to quickly diagnose an issue when it arises but they explain to me how it happened and how I can avoid it in the future. At one point I had a serious issue with my car, it wouldn't start. I hear this is a bad thing. :) It broke down on me while I was at work and I was in a serious bind. I let them know the situation that I was in and was not surprised that I did not get the reaction my friends and I have experienced in the past., which is basically a feigned interest and a "we will get back to you in a couple of days." They are always operating at the top of their game. They were able to diagnose what was wrong with my car within 30 minutes and have it up and running within 24 hours! With the issue that I had, which was a major one (timing belt on an interference engine, I didn't even know what that was until they educated me on it), that is a heck of a turn around. I let them know how bad of a situation I was in and they were able to efficiently and quickly get me back on the road again at a very reasonable cost. I cannot say enough about the character of the people who work there and their ability as mechanics to maintain a car and fix issues that can come up for any driver on the road. I found The Import Mechanics when my car wouldn't start after getting gas. I was so stressed and worried about what was going on with my car. I immediately got my car towed to The Import Mechanics on a whim and I was blown away with the entire experience. Usually, car repairs are devastating but this repair shop actually CARES about your car AND your bank account! The mechanics were extremely upfront with what was going on with my car and explained the situation to me so I knew exactly what was going on. The guy helping even drew a diagram for me so I could learn about what was happening in my car and how the repair and new part would actually fix it. Even though the part I had to purchase was pricey, I never felt like I was a sales trap victim. Instead, I received a brand new starter and my car has been working flawlessly since... (I have a 13 year old Maxima at 160k miles). The guys went above and beyond, installing new lights for me in addition to the new starter. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking to get work or a check up done on an import vehicle. If I could, I would give them negative stars! These mechanics are horrible! Not only can they not put back together a motor correctly without causing problems to our exhaust system, we now found out that our 4-wheel drive was not put back together correctly so that it doesn't work! How competent does a person have to be to put things back together correctly with everything that's supposed to be connected actually connected and in the right spots?! Not only did they take 4 weeks, 3 weeks too long for this work, but we still have problems! I can't stress enough that if you don't want shitty work done to your car that you pay $4,000 for, do not take your car to these mechanics! They're fast talkers so you can't get a word in as they try to say everything that one wants to hear about the work on their car! We got ripped off! Save yourself time, energy, & money and go somewhere else unless you want to spend plenty of our own time putting in the little extra work that they don't feel like doing! Man, they really still make me mad and this work was done back in August! I don't hate people but this is about as close as I get to hating people and their shitty, half-ass work done by slackers! read more

I brought my Audi TT in for a coolant issue. The repair was pricey, but all Audi service is. The Import Mechanics do charge a fair amount for labor, but they're consistent with other mechanics who work on foreign cars. The men who work there are very personable. They definitely give the vibe that they're trustworthy, and I have no reason to suspect otherwise. They got my car done in a reasonable time -- there was a small snafu with parts, but it only added a couple extra hours to the service. No big deal for me. The price came in right at the quote, and they didn't try to upsell beyond asking if I wanted an oil change. What really impressed me was that they came and picked me up -- that's a service that a lot of mechanics lack, for some reason. We're in the middle of our first snow storm, and I didn't really relish walking the mile to their shop. Plus, they replaced my fob battery for free. That's what sealed the deal for me. Everything leading up to that point was already convincing me these were reputable mechanics, but that little extra touch makes me think they're good guys, too. I highly recommend them, and I'll bring my Audi back to them -- hopefully not too soon, though! read more

I have a VW Touareg that I love. About a month ago, my check engine light comes on and I take it to Emich VW to have them check it out. The service advisor tells me that there is a sensor in the middle of the engine that is faulty. They need to tear into the engine and replace it and that it will cost $3000-$5000! This is where the voice in the back of your head screams "Second Opinion!' Every once in a while I am glad I listen to the little voices. I looked on Yelp! and saw the great reviews for The Import Mechanics. I dropped the car off with a copy of the report from Emich. They ran their test with their factory tools, reset and updated software, and replaced some sensor at the top of the engine. Apparently there are several online posts about this problem. These guys researched those posts, did what they had to do and charged me a whopping $300! It has been two weeks - no check engine light and the car runs like a champ! Score one for little voices and honest mechanics. These guys have earned my business forever! UPDATE: Just went back for an oil change. Just as great as the first time! read more

The Import Mechanics are truly the best around!!!! I have been coming to the shop for the last 6 months as an alternative to the dealership for my BMW 745LI. I have been beyond pleased with the job Michael, Eric, & Andy have done with my vehicle. The customer service here is an absolute relief compared to anywhere I have been. The staff is extremely knowledgable about the vehicles they service & they give you every option possible regarding correcting any issue your car may have. They take the time to answer any question you have and I truly feel like they treat my car as if it were their own!!! As far as pricing on labor and parts, they have done work for me at HALF, literally HALF of what I was quoted at the dealership for parts & labor!!!! I feel blessed to have these guys in my neighborhood & am extremely thankful to them for the way they have taken care of my car! I am very happy! I have a 20-year-old Audi S6 that is getting harder and harder to get parts for at a reasonable price. Also, mechanics who know the ins and outs of this car no longer exists at my local Audi dealer. When I damaged the underside of the front bumper (where the black plastic grills are) when I hit some hard snow. NO ONE wanted to contemplate repairing the plastic brackets that hold the grills. Every other shop just wanted to order a new bumper that cost over $1,000 plus the paint cost (I have a pearl white paint, so this means even more money). I brought it here and Bill (the mechanic) was able to repair the brackets and make the bottom part of the bumper look like new again. The repair was well done and I am happy that I drove all the way down from Longmont to get it done. While I had the car there, I also had them change some other rear suspension linkage parts that had worn out. I am happy and I highly recommend this shop and Bill, their mechanic. read more

Michael was the best mechanic I have ever worked with, hands down. He was extremely nice, friendly, and honest. I had a constant drain on my battery and nobody could figure it out, or at least if they could, they didn't want to tell me. I have a 2007 Audi A4. It was as simple as an aftermarket ipod system I had installed, which was faulty and draining my battery when the car was off. I probably should have been smarter and just unplugged that myself, but 2 other mechanics told me that wasn't the problem. Michael told me to swing by with the car which I left overnight. He said he would hook it up to the battery to find out what's draining it. He only charged me for 1-2 hour diagnostic and that was it. He could have easily charged me several hours of diagnostic and whatever else, but was very honest with me. I couldn't be happier about my experience. This will be the only place I take my car from now on. read more

Great Experience! - I took my 2003 E320 Mercedes for an oil change and I definitely got the feel of a local mechanic in a quality environment. Staff was sincere and polite. I asked the team to suggest any service that might be needed soon and they did it without an issue. Once they pulled my car out of the bay they showed me each problem and let me hear, feel, and see the problems for myself. They also prioritized the issues so I would know what to focus on first. The wait area was clean, cozy, and comfortable. I believe they might have even had free wifi, too! Apart of every oil change they also donate money to a charity of my choice (a list to choose from). If your looking for a mechanic that you can trust, you can count on them to be there when you need them most, they make it easy for you to get back to work, school or home, you've just found the place. It is all about convenience for me! I've ridden one of their bikes, borrowed one of their vehicles or someone from their office has taken me home so I could leave my vehicle at the shop. Nothing but good things to say about the customer sevice and work done by the Import Mechanics. I have been brining my car to them for all services for about a year now and won't go anywhere else. Their "honest and simple" motto is absolutely true on all accounts. I brought my 2005 A4 Avant in for a new timing belt and the cost was almost half of what the dealerships had priced out for the same service. I never felt like they were trying to upsell me on items that were not necessary and they completed the work on time. Andy did an awesome job diagnosing an electrical issue with my BMW 330ci and I really appreciate the time and attention he gave to my car. These guys are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and always work with my budget. I inhereted an older BMW which has needed a lot of work for it to get back running properly. Never once have I felt that I was being mislead on what needed to be replaced nor have I ever felt over charged. I drove my 1993 Audi S4 from the mountains so Michael and the crew at Import Mechanics could work on it. I have taken my 2002 BMW X5 to the shop for a couple of years and would not think about taking it anywhere else. I knew I would be in good hands with the Audi and was not disappointed. Several members of the shop own the same Audi and were excited to work on mine. They took care of a couple nagging problems and did it in a professional and efficient manner. This is the 3rd car I've purchased from them, and not this new feature has given me even more reason to refer them, and continue to shop with them. Let me just start off by saying, I love this place. I have been in the automotive industry for 20 years. Michael & Chris are top notch! Very professional & cool guys! I have taking my bmw & my Mercedes to them two or three times each, with no issues! I did have a warranty issue on a very minor repair a faulty gas door spring that of course had noting to do with them manufacturing this part, they switched it out with no issues. I've taken my BMW 335xi here a few times over the past couple of years and the service has always been top-notch and the price has been fair. The last time I was in I had a seal that had begun to leak prior to the full year warranty they give on their work. These guys rock! I started having electrical problems with my BMW last week. Andy, their BMW mechanic, found that water had leaked in from a seal in my trunk and fried some expensive modules under the spare tire. They set me up with a loaner Beetle for the day. When I returned, Andy told me he managed to clean the contacts on the modules and only charged me for a couple hours labor. The modules were close to $2000 to replace, but he took the time to fix them rather than replace them. Thanks so much. You have a customer for life! read more
