My wife and I came down this way (from West LA) on New Years Eve to go to our favorite Indian place (which is across the street from here). Before chowing down, though, we decided it might be good to get a little alcohol in us, so we walked over to Packing District. We almost stopped at the first bar we saw inside, but I cautioned us against deciding too hastily, and we walked around a bit. When I saw the "ICEE-inspired" seltzer on the menu at Iron Press, I knew this would be the place we stopped--that seltzer sounded right up my wife's alley! There were also two chairs at the bar, out in front, beckoning to us. It's like it was meant to be! We sat down and ordered; I got a very delicious hazy IPA and my wife got the seltzer. The bartender guy was super nice--I am not good with remembering names though, so I promptly forgot his name as soon as he told us. Whoops! As we worked through our two beers, the bartender busted out a little laminated piece of paper and passed it around with a marker so we could write down song requests. This was really cool! My wife and I, being gothy/post-punk types, ended up writing down Television and Blondie songs, which did NOT mesh well with what the other people at the bar (who seemed to be friends with the bartender and owner) wrote down. Whoops! The owner of the bar was there as well, and he was a super friendly, fun guy. He tried to get me more involved in the waist-up dancing that was going on at the bar, but I'm too introverted and awkward for that. But I'm able to recognize that he was a super cool guy who'd be a lot of fun to spend time around. I've also forgotten his name, but it started with a J! Whoops-ish! We ordered another round, which we hadn't planned on doing but we were having a nice time and everyone seemed so cool. I stumped the bartender for asking for "like, half a beer?" because I didn't want to get too wasted. That kinda went out the window because near the end of our time there, both the owner AND the bartender ended up giving us small amounts of free beer, once as a way to taste something different, and the second time as a cheers to the New Years. Can't beat free beer! Around this point my wife and I started day dreaming about moving to this area so we could end up being regulars at Iron Press. But we still think of ourselves as too cool for Orange County... but you never know. We capped our time at Iron Press off by requesting "Walking at a Downtown Pace" by Parquet Courts, trying to pick something more crowd pleasing, and the bartender immediately went "this is good, I'm adding this!" as soon as the beat kicked on. Hurrah! Hopefully next New Years Eve they'll also be open so we can turn this into a bit of tradition. But, of course, we'll try to find other opportunities throughout the year to drive down this way to say hello and drink some delicious beers, before grubbing on incredible Indian food across the street. read more

First time to iron press. It's a tight squeeze. A nice bar counter and a few tables outside. Fortunately we grabbed some seats at the bar on a Thursday evening. Plenty of unique beer offerings. Staff is super friendly. I've been wanting to try their awesome stuff waffles. Got the country breakfast. Belgian waffle. Buttermilk fried chicken. Gravy. Egg. Bacon. It was delicious. The fried chicken was still crispy and flavorful. The gravy was good, not too thick. The egg and bacon were great add ons. The waffle was tasty and they provided syrup. The side of tater tots was huge. They were hot, crispy, tasty. I would get the exact same order again! I tried the waffle fries and they had some heat but also tasty. I really wanted to try and ice cream and waffle dessert but it was just too much to eat at one time. IP is definitely on my list of places to return. Being in Anaheim Packing District makes it even more fun with so many places around. Note if no seats and you don't want to sit outside you can grab it to go and sit at one of the community tables. Iron press is so so so consistently good. I've been coming here since I lived by the Costa Mesa location and now that I live by the Anaheim one it's a must. Beer selection is amazing- huge variety of local/west coast beers. Also decent amount of non beer beverages (kombucha, seltzer, cider). You can tell the people know their beer and know how to take care of their taps bc it always tastes FRESH. Food is also really good! I like to get a cheeseburger with bacon, tots/fries. It can be $$ but it's comparable to the rest of the restaurants at the packing house, and the ingredients taste good (butter lettuce on a burger?! luxurious) The servers are also just the best :) they are attentive and fun to talk to. Everyone at the bar is all so welcoming and friendly. Awesome place to hang out inside at the bar or outside on the patio. Can get crowded on weekend nights but it's always fun. Nestled at the end of the Anaheim Packing District, the Iorn Press serves up a wide variety of beers as well as some tasty chicken and waffles. The set up is simple with a large bar counter with ample room for beer as well as food. Seats are simple metal stools, and there are a few small tables as well. At the time I was there, it appeared that there were about 20-25 beers on tap and they let you sample before you made your choices. At this visit, I had a marvelous chicken and waffle sandwich and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I upgraded and got the tots and a side of beer cheese and I must say that was a good decision. Our first experience here was a bust due to the rude-ass server over at The Iron Press (short guy with moustache) - My 13yr old son asks the guy how much is the Philly cheesesteak. - His response was "It says it up there". - It didn't register to my son right away but his female co-worker noticed and simply told my son the price...$17 - Walks back to the table and said he made a rude comment. - Son wasn't hurt at all, he was simply asking for cost. To us, this was a little rude and unprofessional. He could have just answered a simple question. Oh well, we left and decided on this little spot called In n Out. Meat! Burger made with fancy stuff (avocado and fried egg)! I came hear to eat Waffle and Meat. There was room at the bar So I grabbed a seat. Service is friendly And very fast. Waffle fries... Woo hoo..At Last! The fries were crisp And yummy too. You pick your sauce.. Garlic Aioli..woohoo! The burger options include Avocado, bacon and egg that's fried. These were the options I had tried. This is basically another Bruxie but it also serves beer (local and imported). The original location is in Costa Mesa so you have another option if you don't want to deal with the Packing House crowd. I tried the Country Style Buttermilk Fried Chicken which has fried chicken tenders, buttermilk ranch salad, shallots, and sausage gravy on a Belgian waffle. I added $1.50 extra to make mine spicy and it was pretty good. The chicken was crispy and tender and other ingredients went well together. However, there was nothing special about the waffle, which is the same complaint I have with Bruxie. This would've been good on pretty much any sandwich bread; the waffle did not add any value to the overall dish. If waffle is suppose to be its specialty, there should be something unique about it. This was just slightly above the quality of an Eggo waffle. I had waffles in Belgium and this certainly did not taste like a Belgian waffle. And yes, I'm being a snob about it. I'm still giving this place 4 stars because the sandwich was good despite the waffle, but it's a weak 4. I would say this place is worth trying once but not worth repeating. read more

Everything from the food to the staff to the environment was absolutely amazing here. The IPA Irish Nachos are a definite must try! Ordered them with waffle fries and tater tots. The IPA cheese, sauteed cabbage, and bacon mixed so well together making this appetizer extra delicious. Awesome selection of beers on tap!!! Highly recommend it for those IPA lovers like me. All sorts of IPA's you can try from. Workers are very nice, willing to help you till you find the beer you want to get. Their belgian fries are amazing. You can add all sorts of toppings on top of it. Its soaked in beer and I added bacon, cabbage, and avocado on top of it. YUMMMM!!! I know I should try other things when I go but I been ordering the same dish every time I go. But their beer do change. Sometimes on a busy day their beers do run out. For those with higher alcohol percentage they will pour you 3/4 glass full. Usually always packed. I unfortunately did not get any of the food therefore I am not able to comment on the food itself. I was saving a seat for the husband and I while the husband went on the hunt to get me a drink. He knows (somewhat) what I like so I trusted him. He wandered off and left me eating my fries from the Kroft and my sandwich from the Black Sheep. After a few minutes he returned with two beers in hand. He said he couldn't resist getting one himself especially after the great service that the young lady provided for him. Goose Island Black Friday Takeover!!! AHHHH!!! If you've been looking for Bourbon County around stores only to find that you came too late, you may want to consider coming here and having a flight on tap. It's about $16 for four 4 oz. samples. It was very much worth it! We tried the BC Coffee Stout on its own for $6, which was delicious! We were one of the last ones to try it though. The BC flight was 2013 and 2014 BC Stout and 2013 and 2014 BC. Come while it lasts! We left to grab some food around the Packing House and came back again to see the same bartender taking a photo of Noble's Naughty Sauce (which is delicious and also smells and tastes like coffee) for their social media pages. It's also really closely seated here like a small diner counter so you get to talk to the people next to you and the bartenders. EVERYONE was friendly and SO chill. I love it! My friend also had the tater tots here and while I am not a fan, these were really crisp and perfect-- like mini hash browns cooked perfectly that I think this place has made me think twice about tots... So glad I got to try Bourbon County and Ballast Point here and for a pretty good price too! I can't wait to come back again for their other beers! read more

We were out as a family of three and decided on The Packing House - but didn't make up our minds on The Iron Press until we walked around a bit. I'm so glad we chose to try this spot out. The staff members were welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Our server checked in with us regularly and had some great suggestions! We tried a few different items and they were all great! Like, the best fried chicken strips I'd had in a really, really long time - maybe the best ever. Forreals. Pair that with some yummy waffles, some tots, some fries, and a nice beer - and that's a heck of a meal. Plus, it was a pleasant evening and we sat at a table on the patio. Beer and... waffles?! Breakfast of champions. I stumbled across this beauty of a place on Yelp - actually, I saw a picture of the Are You Cereal? Captain Crunch Waffle and decided my life would not be complete without it. Boy, was I right. Once you figure out how to actually navigate around The Packing District (we're out-of-towners, okay) the place is like a dreamland. The Iron Press, specifically, is like my heaven. So. Many. Waffles. I'm a sucker for anything cereal-related and my boyfriend loves Pazookies from BJs, so once we saw those two items on the menu in waffle form no other place stood a chance. Robert had the cookie and ice cream that has some sort of Star Wars name (Wookie, I think it is), and I had the Are You Cereal Waffle, plus we shared an order of garlic parmesan tater tots. OH EM GEE THE TOTS. We ordered a side thinking it would be a small bowl... you know, side sized... but we never expected how many we were going to get! It was difficult to finish, but I'd rather leave in a food coma than walk away hungry. Service was very nice and very helpful. The quick service was appreciated! If it wasn't 11am we definitely would have tried a few beers and walked around The Packing District a little more. They have a great selection on tap to choose from and were very nice about sampling (the guy next to me tried a few and bombarded the waitress with weird beer questions, but she answered them with grace - very knowledgable!) So today is their 4th anniversary and I am overdue for a review. I've been coming to IP since they first opened, for the beers, food, and the amazing staff (shout-out to Jeff and Emily). I typically get their salad and tater tots and whatever sour beer Is on tap. Ive tried their chicken and waffles and it's yummy. Their desserts are always really good as well. Seating can be challenging on the weekends, so I rarely come. Parking is a nightmare. Congrats guys! :) read more

UPDATE: Finally tried the food at Iron Press and loved it!! My friend and I got the buttermilk fried chicken but we did the Grizzly Bear add-on (add a fried egg, avocado, bacon and your choice of cheese) and boy oh boy was it delicious!!! I'm sure it was a calorie bomb of epic portions, but the jalapeno cheddar waffle was amazing and they used fresh jalapenos! Fried chicken was crispy and the flavors were so so good! I love beer, so I was already predisposed to like Iron Press, and yep, I sure do! It was 3:30pm on a Friday afternoon and my friend and I slide onto a couple of stools and proceed to pick a beer. High five for day drinking! Frank, who's the BEST, was great! He gave us samples of whatever we wanted to try and was super friendly, telling us about his recent trip to Hawaii and about how he's the owner of IP and Roiling Boil and Blind Rabbit downstairs! Btw, love the Blind Rabbit - the people there are super awesome and friendly as well :D My friend had the pineapple cider and I had one of the IPAs (which I can't remember right now) We came back later for another drink and had the blood orange beer, and I tried the Stone Douvle IPA (Enjoy By 10.31.14) Super great beer choices and they have some great beers on rotation. I don't want to ask that question when I'm so thirsty. I thought it was all about crafts. They had a BUNCH from Lagunitas brewery which doesn't really translate into variety now does it? Had to make peace with Lagunitas Czech Style (good) and my friend got the watermelon beer (gross). Good temperature. About $7 each. Kitchen closes much earlier than bar so plan accordingly. They only serve craft beer here. Fine by me, I prefer craft beer over bottles. They have 24 different beer taps. Never been here before until today. Having some beer here now. Over inflated prices though. $9 pint for my IPA. Yikes. I'm drinking Stone Skedaddler IPA. My wife is having Coronado Mermaid Red. Beer is expensive as is all the other over priced boutique food restaurants inside here (Anaheim Packing District). Tourist pricing at it's finest. I don't want to dig on Iron press though. They probably have to charge more for the beer because of the massive amount a rent they are being charged from the over hyped Anaheim Packing District. I blame them. read more

If you want waffle sandwiches, go to Bruxie. If you want waffle sandwiches and beer, go to Iron Press. I haven't been to the original location in Costa Mesa. But this location is inside the Anaheim Packing House. (I would like to mention that parking sucks at the packing house.. Get here early and get ready to eat a lot. Iron Press is just off Santa Ana Blvd, and there's free parking along that street.) I loved the waffle fries..and the kickin' ketchup! Who knew sriracha + ketchup would taste so good! They had other sauce options, but I'm glad I chose the spicy ketchup. I had the monte cristo ($9), which came with the strawberry jam. This sandwich was good - tasted like breakfast! It was too oily for me though. I probably won't get that again. My eating partner had the "original" buttermilk fried chicken ($8). I didn't like this one either because the chicken was so sad and the cole slaw tasted bad. I prefer fresh cabbage + mayo kind of cole slaw. However, my eating partner hated the waffle but loved the insides. We both agree that Bruxie has better waffles. Sorry I can't say anything about the beer because I didn't have any, but they do have a beer flight/tasting menu! Seating is basically at the bar. It gets too crowded there, especially with everyone enjoying their beers + the sports game on TV. But luckily at the Packing House, finding seating is almost never a problem. read more

This place is like a mini brewery inside the packing district with a bar top and tvs. The menu isn't big but they have most things you're looking for. We decided to go with a burger and a sandwich and also a full basket of tots.
