Substandard Service I was there on 12/15/21 between 11-11:30 AM looking to see if breakfast was still available. I ask around to find out if breakfast is still being served, I ask one of the staff members and he tells me to ask a staff member at the front desk who is on the phone. I walk around the place trying to get an answer to my question until I find the breakfast sign. I stand in line waiting to inquire/place the breakfast order. There was a staff member roaming in the behind the counter while another staff member was preparing for the customer in front of me. When it gets to my turn I ask the staff member if breakfast is still available and I couldn't hear him because of the mask and I ask him again w/ a thumbs-up confirming if breakfast was still available. He then responds with angrily asking "what do you want?" making it seem like he is doing me a favor. I'm looking for the full menu (if one exists), and he again angrily asks "what do you want?" They did not disappoint, the main (pulled chicken with spiced rub) and sides were delicious! Plus they were super responsive and flexible. Last week they delivered a roast beef sandwich that was so over cooked that it was the color of shoe leather, dry, stringy. One bite and into the trash Yesterday they delivered a cheese calzone Dipping sauce was hot but the container was covered with foil not an actual lid The calzone was warmish and oily. The dough was thick, chewy and undercooked . Two bites and into the trash One of the orders was for a salad with shrimp. It arrive with price tags for the salad and the shrimp but not s crustacean to be seen They made good on the shrimp but it does seem that the attention to detail at Iron T is less than desired Thank you for the reply I was reviewing based on two different orders one week apart. Went to the Iron Tomato with my husband to get some dessert. The bakery smelled wonderful and looked clean. We got a cannoli cupcake and a Oreo brownie. As we got out of the restaurant into the car we decided to dig into our desserts. The brownie tasted chemically altered and was not at all good. Thank you for catering my Granddaughters college graduation party. Everything was perfect!!! The food was delicious and arrived right on time. The gentleman that I made the arrangements with was so kind, understanding and helpful . He helped me create a menu that included 3 , different specific dietary requests. I've stopped by the Iron Tomato quite a few times to buy deli meat and cheeses, and everything has always been pretty solid. So when we ordered lunch from them the other day we were expecting a pretty competent meal. We got a few sandwiches; the Philly cheesesteak and the Italian combo, and we also got an order of fries. Sandwiches tasted pretty good, but they were pretty soggy. Fries arrived cold as well. On the positive side, they have an extensive delivery menu and delivery was fast. The iron tomato is your one stop shop for anything food related, literally. The variety can be over whelming and you will probably want to try one of everything like me, and sometimes you can. If you're nice to the servers they'll let you try some of their selections - this was much appreciated. Think of a Manhattan bodega with a gourmet, well stocked, on crack twist with of course a bakery too! I ordered the chicken flatbread and was very satisfied. Mixed bag experience with Iron Tomato this evening. I ordered for delivery and all that went fine. I ordered a ceasar salad and an eggplant parm sandwich. First the bad... the salad was not that good. Well, basically I think they forgot to put any dressing on my salad. It was like eating lettuce with croutons and some cheese. There might have been a slight hint of dressing if I squinted my taste buds. On the other hand, the eggplant parm sandwich was pretty good. I was actually expecting like a breaded fried eggplant, but it ended up being more of a... shredded eggplant topping in there. Was fine, though. It also has cheese. I didn't know how the sizes are here, so I ordered the larger size and it was way too much food. I easily would have been full just having half of it. I think the bread was pretty good, but it had begun getting soggy by the time I got the sandwich; probably on account of the delivery process. I think I'd order from Iron Tomato again. The selection of baked goods will blow your mind. They have absolutely everything you could ever want in the desert category. The Iron Tomato also has a great deli in the back. They offer a wide variety of deli items. I went with the grilled chicken panini for dinner. It came with a garlic pesto sauce, grilled chicken, mozzarella cheese, and roasted red peppers. It was amazing. For desert, I had to get their giant chocolate chip cookie. It was soft and melty just as I like it. Overall, The Iron Tomato easily gets 5 stars from me. A couple of days ago I did an order for pick up. The woman who answered the phone put me on hold several times, when I finally got a moment to put in my order I asked the woman who answered the phone for a Honey Turkey, scrambled egg and cheese on a hero. I walk in to pick up the order, she's on the phone attending a call in customer... after she hangs up she complains about what that customers orders to me. I go to work I open the foil to my sandwich and the order was wrong. I couldn't go back to fix the order as I was already at work so I decided to call in and let Iron Tomato know what had happened. Now, I work in the high end service/retail industry and I'm completely understanding as humans we sometimes make mistakes. I'm not upset at the wrong order as I'm more so upset at the fact when I called back and politely told the woman that the order was wrong she had a terrible attitude. In stead of apologizing or try to make it right in any way, one of the first things she actually said was, "If I didn't write it down then you didn't say it." She tried for go back and fourth me over the phone over about how I allegedly didn't say the order right when I know for an entire fact I said the right order. Ordered this salad (forgot the name), rice, potatoes, and a chicken wrap. The delivery was super fast and the delivery guy was very nice! However, the food i ordered was not amaZing. the potatoes were basically raw, couldnt eat them. The salad was great but wish it wasnt mostly lettuce. And the wrap was okay. They have a lot of options on their menu so i will definitely be trying other items next time. Our eyes and stomach were on the same page (we gotta have one of everything) the bakery section was visited last so that we could really do maximum damage... when we were there I learned a valuable lesson. You should LOOK like you have made your mind up and be ready to order. Being a true deli style place they can't wait for someone to eventually decide that they've made their choice. I live nearby and whether I'm passing by or trying to buy, all I see are heads bent into phones at night. Maybe I was given the STALE Pastry because I interrupted a staff member from his phone. Management was completely disinterested in my complaint, even annoyed that he had to come to the front of the store to give me a refund. This is all the more the shame because the day staff are pleasant and attentive. The salads are interesting and fresh as well as their other food - and versatile too. Ugh I love this place so much!! They have everything. I discovered this place after I learned my school gets their delicious heroes catered for club meetings and I was sold. I have since been to their actual place numerous times. They have delicious iced coffee and you honestly can't go wrong with any of their hot foods in the sandwich and pizza sections. The place itself is divided into sections where you can get bakery items, hot foods, smoothies, etc. You order and pay before you sit. This place reminds me very much of Bread and Butter in the city. I love that they have so many different options. I haven't tried a lot of things there, but I have a year and a half left of school here and that's plenty of time to go back countless times. Service/people: wife and I ordered breakfast from Javier. I said something in korean to my wife while waiting and the guy said, "what what are you saying in Chinese?? Even after complaining to the owner Michael, he told me he couldn't handle the complaint and it was too much pressure for him to hear that there was a mistake on the order so he hung up. The owner is proud that he serves 100 delivery meals a day. A store that size should be triple that amount. Every person you speak to in White Plains tells you that this place has gone to the birds. The last straw was when I ordered a chicken sandwich, they forgot to put the chicken in it. To be honest - there was one slice of meat on the whole sandwich and I am sending pictures along. Save your money, save your time, save your stomach - there are many more delis in White Plains so keep away from the iron tomato.
