Why the hate on this place? It's nice and clean, with friendly efficient service. The food is actually pretty good. Yes it's airport and celebrity chef pricing but they did fine. I've never been drawn to this place while traveling, but decided to try it today and was pleasantly surprised. The place was nearly empty when we got there, so we were seated quickly. Service was great as again, it was nearly empty. It was comfortable enough with bar seating or tables. What I really liked about it was the food seemed to be of a higher quality and prepared well. My flight at DFW airport was cancelled so I again ate Italian Kitchen (fresh tomato soup on the previous visit) and, was very satisfied with the Chicken Caesar Salad with Tomatoes added. There was no extra charge for the tomatoes and a slice of sourdough with butter. The salad was uber refresh with an ample amounts of lettuce, chicken, croutons, parmesan, tomatoes and ground pepper (to taste). Clean, comfortable place. Certainly helped that we ate during a lull. Great menu for an airport restaurant, especially the offerings of light salads with appetizing greens. Just perfect for between flights. I had the baby kale and spinach salad. Just perfect. Not wading in a soppy, sour vinaigrette, just simple, fresh, and a healthy serving. Even more, the other salads on the menu looked just as good. Also had the italian meats sandwich, which server recommended. Just a great sandwich on a toasted bun. Wasn't greasy, or heavy. Fries a little salty, but very good. Server, by the way, was excellent; prepared, relaxed, and attentive. Pushing it to the fifth star; the price. Probably the best value I've had at an airport restaurant. Left not feeling like a robbed captive, which is what you want from an airport restaurant. I know, low bar to surpass. I ordered a Apple & Walnut salad for $19 and added shrimp for $8. The salad arrived with 2 medium size shrimp and 1 shrimp tail. When I told the server, the manager came over and argued with me that he "100%" saw 3 shrimp on the side of the salad. The server apologized, the manager did not. Our flight home was about five hours delayed. The lounges were busy so we staked two bar-stools at the Italian Kitchen. A great decision! I will make this review direct and brief. We shared a delicious Margherita which was crisp and fluffy at same time. Again, a wonderful pizza to share. A glass of red wine complimented the early snack/dinner. A huge applause to Steven our bartender and server. Great customer service skills and a welcoming personality. Thanks Steven for your superior service and friendly attitude towards tired and weary travelers. Watching the Wimbledon finals (Gentlemen's singles & Ladies doubles) at Steven's bar while snacking and having a drink was quite enjoyable. Actually reasonably priced comparable to most restaurants but the portions are a bit small. The marinara sauce has a bit of a kick to it. Spaghetti was al dente. Meatballs were very tasty. Could have used 4 instead of three. My kid got the 4 cheese ravioli and said it was great. Again, a bit small. Service was good. During a 2 hr layover in Dallas we had breakfast. The service was decent and they were conscious of their passengers availability since many are there due to a layover. I got the Avocado Toast and Orange Juice. The toast was wonderful as it included a good amount of avocado, cherry tomatoes, onions and feta cheese topped with an egg (extra $ for egg). The only thing I would've changed would be to have the cubes of feta a bit smaller. There were huge hunks of cheese but I just cut them so it wasn't a major issue. The orange juice was sweet and refreshing. It kinda tastes as if it was freshly made. If I ever have a future layover at DFW I would stop back in for a bite. read more

When looking for a place to have breakfast at the airport, this place I would definitely recommend. The moment I approached the restaurant, the host immediately sat me down and told me who my server was. There was 1 server for my entire area and he was fast and attentive. The server never forgot an order for any of the patrons, and was very polite. The food was amazing, I have avocado toast, coffee and sausage. I cleaned my plate and ordered an almond croissant to go, though I wouldn't recommend that to eat. Shockingly good! I'm glad I didn't see the reviews or I would have walked on by. We had 2 hours to kill before our flight and happened to walk up. Trevon took amazing care of us. He never let our water get empty and was attentive while not being overbearing. We started with their homemade potato chips with Gorgonzola fondue. They were surprisingly great for potatoes chips and the fondue was very tasty. Warning though, it seemed to have blue cheese crumbles on top which I love, but the hubs not so much. For the main meal, I had flat iron steak with russet potatoes, grilled asparagus and Gorgonzola butter. I asked for medium rare and it was served to perfection and tasted like a more expensive piece of meat. The asparagus had a good char and was nicely seasoned. Hubs had the Italian meats sandwich and loved his too. The fries were just fries, but everything else was great. We finished with the Coppa raspberries with mascarpone cream, topped with bits of pistachio and what I think were a couple of nozzleberries. Was it a little expensive for what it was? Yes but this is expected at the airport. Everything tasted great and the service was top notch. Will definitely give them another try the next time we fly out of D terminal. read more

Raised her voice and tried to embarrass me because I had my young daughter with me as i bought a beer for me and a bottled water for her. Laura loudly said, several times, that children can't sit at the bar. I said yes, I know, we're going to sit dian at a table as soon as I get these drinks. She kept going, getting angrier and berating me as she led us to a table. Really odd. I said, we're not ordering food, we're sitting here because the child can't sit at the bar. She then said even louder, then the servers won't make any money!! (there were plenty of empty tables, and one guy sitting at a table drinking starbucks and reading a book without even ordering food from what we could see). She then said we were allowed only to stand at the thin middle table near the bar. So we did, while she proceeded to bitterly talk smack about me to her coworkers. The salmon was delicious (the crisp on the outside was PERFECT), but significantly smaller than most places where I've ordered a salmon salad. I was still a little hungry afterwards. The service was pretty good. My waitress was very friendly, and quick to bring my food out (which I appreciate), but my water wasn't refilled even though the waitress came by to clear my other dishes. The service is surprisingly slow considering it is a restaurant in an airport. I had a 4 hour layover, so I was fine. I ordered the American breakfast. When it arrived, there appeared to be a hair in the potatoes. The server took the dish back and brought me new food, which I appreciated. Very expensive for what it is ($3 for a small glass of orange juice?!), but the food was good. The waitress said the salad is pucks recipe. She saw that I only had a few bites and I tasted the soup and pushed it away like the salad. What a terrible meal. (I am not a great cook so that tells you something). The meatball sandwich was made with pesto aioli. I asked for it without, not realizing that was in the sauce. The waiter who was not helpful nor cheerful brought me 3 shriveled meatballs on bread. When I asked about getting sauce I realized the aioli was the sauce. He said he'd bring me marinara sauce and then took his time getting it. My sandwich is now cold and when the sauce came that was also cold.
