During COVID 19 the staff are all wearing masks and gloves and visitors are required to wear masks except while eating of course. The food was tasty but nothing major special. We decided to check out the Cat Ballou musical at this playhouse. We didn't go to the dinner before the show and opted to dine elsewhere. The playhouse is a 300 seat auditorium and I don't think any seat would be a bad seat. You can get an alcoholic drink before the show at the bar in the lobby, but this is not open at intermission so be sure to get your cocktail before the show. There is a concessions stand open during the intermission selling popcorn, cake pops, candy and drinks. The woman who runs the show is super sweet and makes you feel welcomed as she greets her guests entering the auditorium. There is a pre-show where the cast sings in the lobby which is cute, then the doors open and you are shown to your assigned seat. The cast is talented and the Cat Ballou show amusing providing laughs. After the show, the cast stands outside the auditorium and you have a chance to say hello. There were a lot of standouts but Cheyenne Rose, Cat Ballou and Farnsworth were my favs. This is a nice diversion from hanging out at a bar in the evening. There are a few saddles bar stools at the lobby bar to sit in if you want that experience, too. Fun night if you want to do something a little different. read more

This is a little jewel of a place with a great dinner and theater. Not only are the performers really good singers and dancers, they are the wait staff. They mingle throughout singing and smiling, while offering great service in the family style seating. I had the beef medallions and shrimp and my daughter had the salmon. Both meals were excellent. This isn't just dinner for the evening. It is an extension to your vacation. What a great way to end a long week of hiking. read more

This place is amazing! The lunch prices are probably the best in Jackson. I recommend the Barrel Racing crispy chicken sandwich. As you eat, the waiters and waitresses sing about every 25 minutes. This was a fun addition to our visit to Jackson Hole. This isn't a review of the show that we saw (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers), which was great, but rather the venue itself. This is an old-school theatre with character. The lobby is very unique, very old-school complete with a bar and the smell of fresh popcorn permeating throughout. The performers were stationed on the steps inside, providing entertainment to the theatre-goers before they entered. At intermission, there were plenty of refreshment choices (including milkshakes!). The playing space itself seats maybe 300? The seats are older, the stage isn't huge (but the entire space is utilized well), the acoustics are decent.... the tin-tiled ceiling is evidence of the venue's history and adds to the homey feel. It used to be a bowling alley at one point. This is definitely a summer stock theatre, or at least it has that feel (I speak from many summers of stock experience!). A fun experience overall, with a talented cast to boot. A great addition to our trip. It ain't NYC, but it's Jackson Hole....and Jackson Hole did pretty dang good! read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The Playhouse artists created a very memorable night for our sizable vacationing extended family (ages 12-76.) From our first interaction with staff at the reservation desk, we felt valued as guests. The food was good though not fantastic. Cast members who served our dinner were fun, engaging and personable while at the same time very professional and engaging. The entertaining pre-show further created a genuine connection between the the cast and audience. "Cat Ballou" was a fantastic show! I had a wonderful time last evening at the Jackson playhouse! The playhouse gave me a warm feeling when I step inside. All the detail that they put in for decorating the place was amazing! We had a reservation so we were seated quickly. The menu was designed for the play we were seeing so there were options like Hucks pork loin. During our dinner waiters sang to us and really gave us a show. After dinner we were brought into the theater. We saw huckleberry Finn and it was wonderful! I had great time. read more

After reading reviews, I planned not to eat here beforehand for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (I recommend tapas at Bin 32 just around the corner) . $34 ticket for myself and my 3 year old daughter was free (yay!) but she had to sit on my lap. When we walked in, I was impressed by the pre show and the concessions. I got my daughter some popcorn ($4) which was pricey but I knew it would occupy her. Also, when we were being directed to our seat, the usher suddenly offered us a front row seat after chatting me up. The best part was that my daughter got her own seat! It totally changed our experience! At intermission you can pick up preordered milkshakes which I thought was a nice touch. I tried the Oreo one and it was amazing. ($7) The show was top quality. Tons of talent and dancing. The slow motion part was epic. My daughter got a picture with her favorite bride at the end. One song brought me to tears, especially being there with my daughter, such a great memory. I highly recommend spending a night here if you are a lover of the arts! read more

We saw The Jackson Hole Playhouse summer show Seven Brides for Seven Brothers on opening night and it was outstanding. Performers were top notch and all seemed to be having lots of fun. The acting, singing and dancing was really entertaining. The dinner preceding the show was excellent and served up by the friendly cast members with enthusiasm. We saw "Paint your Wagon" which was pretty good and fairly entertaining. The theater itself was a little old but I would describe it as "quaint". It felt a little stuffy after awhile. The seats in there were probably comfortable 50 years ago, but sadly feel a little worn at present. The show was fun, and I really appreciated being able to place a desert order that was ready at intermission. I would definitely reccomend as something to do if you have time in Jackson. read more

The performance of The Unsinkable Molly Brown was one of the best theatre performances I have ever seen. The cast was incredible. Their slow motion brawl scene was executed flawlessly. My two cousins and I had dinner before The Unsinkable Molly Brown show. The area for dinner tables is very small, especially for one of us in a mobility scooter. However, the waitstaff/ performers made it work. We enjoyed our dinner, which was part of the package deal. One had the fresh trout and the others had the pork loin stuffed with apples and blueberries and a sage gravy. There should have been a bit more gravy, as the pork was a little dry. We chose to have desserts which were not included in the price (cheesecake for 2 and triple chocolate layer cake for 1.) I also had a large cup of decaf coffee with my cake. When the time came to move to the theater, the strong men in the show lifted my cousin's scooter over the two stairs so she could get to her seat. Amazing strength! Some of the seats are a little run down, and we were moved off to the side to accommodate the scooter. We should have just stayed with our original seats and we would have been able to see better. The show itself was lots of fun, and we all loved the music. The piano accompanist was truly exceptional. Definitely worth seeing if you are in Jackson! read more

7 Brides for 7 Brothers a MUST SEE. We had so much fun! My family and I enjoy the movie version at least once a year. It is a classic and one of our favorites! Tonight's performance in many ways was better! The actors were well rehearsed and quick thinking when needed. Their energy is so infectious you could not help but be drawn in. They cleverly included the audience in the performance as the entire theater room was their stage as they entered and exited from doors all around and spoke to audience members as if they were part of the show. They added humor to the show which had everyone laughing. My children were on the edge of their seat enjoying every minute ... So much in fact that one forgot the chocolate shake that was half started during intermission. Many of the original songs were played and they added some of their own songs. The props and scene changes were excellent and fluid. I WOULD SEE THIS AGAIN! I highly recommend it to everyone. I'd like to thank the performers and the theatre for putting on such a fun show. Did not eat here but experienced their shootout in the square. Its a daily performance - except Sundays - with a quick wild west story. Costumes, and plot was appropriate for adults and kids. It's a great tradition and opportunity to experience the wild west cowboy lifestyle in wyoming. When i return i'll choose to experience their dinner theatre. read more

Dinner with singing service and a 2 hour play. Very cheap considering the number of actors and length of the show... The actors were great and the show was very entertaining. I noticed a minor slip in the show, but it didn't bother me at all. Besides it was a happy comedy, so no harm :) Anyways, it's a way to spend an evening in Jackson Hole. Note, food was decent, but service and atmosphere is hard to find likewise elsewhere. So I would definitely recommend dinner and a show, though the show is also worth it on its own. read more

Not only do you get serenaded during your dinner, you also get to watch a fun shoot-out in Town Square, song and dance pre-show and finally a very entertaining show! While vacationing in Jackson Hole, our family spent New Year's Eve taking in a dinner and show at the playhouse. We had no idea what to expect, but we ended up being hugely impressed by the delicious dinner and very entertaining play. Upon entering, we were treated with popcorn, cheeses, and hot apple cider. Our gracious hostess gave a brief history of the old place. Later, we had the chicken and salmon dinners, and both were great. It's a charming, long-standing family-run operation where the servers are also the actors. They are all talented and witty, and know how to make clever use of the small stage. We saw a play called "Christmas in the Hole", which was a funny modernized take-off of "A Christmas Carol". For the price, it's a fabulous deal. Highly recommended. read more

My husband recently treated me to dinner and a show at Jackson Hole Playhouse. The dinner was marvelous, I had the breaded chicken and my husband had the blackened catfish. Both dishes were gourmetish. The food was much better than expected, but matched the price (pretty pricey). This place pleasantly surprised me, we wound up wandering in for lunch after the cafe we went into had a long wait. Initially it looks very touristy and gimmicky; which after living in several major cities around the U.S, I usually try avoiding touristy. The food was traditional bar food, pretty decent and very inexpensive which was an added bonus! I'll be honest, I went in expecting a tourist trap for suckers who love old timey western stuff, but let me tell you, I was VERY pleasantly surprised. First of all, me and my family paid for the pre-show dinner: it was delicious, came to us very fast, and the actors+actresses (who double as your servers, which was neat!) were incredibly kind and hospitable. Despite having such a small space to work with, everything was very well organized and orchestrated so that there was little wait, little fuss and little more you could ask for. The theatre itself is, as the rest of the building is, small, but seats everyone comfortably and makes it easy to hear all of the actors without microphones as well as the music...which leads me to my next point: the piano! The player was fantastic and the fact that it was the only instrument actually made the whole thing that much more charming. All of the actors very obviously put everything they have into their performances, and their voices are spectacular; I really was amazed at their dedication...waiting tables and then going on to act, sing and dance?? That's what I call hard work! At the end of the show, all of the actors wait in the hall to shake your hand and thank you...really the whole experience felt so genuine and fun! Everyone there works their rumps off to make sure you have a great time, and it absolutely shows. If you spend time in Jackson Hole, DEFINITELY check this place out, I guarantee it's worth the price. read more
