Kenny was amazing in assisting my designing of the cabinets and had many helpful tips. The product arrived before the estimated date and they had no problem holding it until I was ready. What a delightful personality and what a terrific job she did for us! We had some real challenges in our space with doors and windows, and we really wanted to add an island. not good for refacing. I had my kitchen cabinets refaced by the Kitchen Store after hearing their ads on the radio. This is a big job so when you commit, you want it to be right. the bottom line is that the kitchen store fired the man who did the refacing the day after he finished my job based on my complaints, but i have been stuck with his mistakes ever since. Every time i look at my kitchen I am unhappy. I am a professional woman, but don't have the money to redo the cupboards. The problem we had is that the refacing services were in cherry and came out to be different in color - some very light and some very dark - this is a sloppy job in selecting materials. The manager drove out to look, told us about the firing but offered no remedies, and did not even really agree with the problem. Who would want the surfaces of the cabinets to vary drastically in color. The only good thing i have left from those cabinets are the doors. They can be resurfaced and I can find another busines. I visited the Kitchen Store a few years ago when I was looking to renovate my kitchen. When I visited the showroom, I saw products that I liked, and sought out a salesperson for assistance and more information. I showed the salesman the cabinets that I liked and asked how to proceed. He handed me a worksheet and told me to go home and measure my kitchen. HOMEWORK from a cabinet store?! I don't think so. I don't know if this is standard practice or because I'm young, female, and black and perhaps they didn't care to have my business. In any case, I found a company that came to my home and measured the space, brought cabinet and counter top samples, and emailed me a visual representation of what my new kitchen would look like. While renovating anything is never fun, the Kitchen Store was such a bright spot in the kitchen remodel process, thanks to Jim De Witt and the entire staff. He recommended a great contractor and we never had a problem from start to completion. Everything was done in a timely manner and with expert professionalism. Excellent quality cabinets, and Jim worked with us to get exactly the color and finish we wanted. He also helped with a few design configuration issues and added small touches for various spaces that made all the difference. Also terrific and really helpful to get a 3-D rendering on the computer to get a sense of space and how it will all fit. I had a kitchen and bathroom updated by these people about 7 years ago. I believed in them because they have been around for awhile. They were a little on the high side as far as cost, but I figued I could trust them to give me a good product for my hard earned money. The installation went OK with no problems until now. The counter and sink combo they put in the bathroom started to leak so I call a licensed plumber to repair it. Plumber told me the sink can't be repaired and I need to contact the installer, The Kitchen Store, for advise. I contacted The Kitchen Store and they told me that it only had a 3 year warranty and there is nothing they can do!! No one told me about such a BS warranty!! A kitchen and bath upgrade/remodel should last longer than a few years. read more

I went to The Kitchen Store first as it was recommended by someone I trust. The first appointment went fantastic, Ana did a beautiful job of designing a new kitchen for me. After I left I contacted my contractor and he started asking questions I couldn't answer. All I was given were 4 color print outs with no measurements and a hand written total. When I emailed back to request more information, my bad for not writing down the cabinet styles or asking what type of counter top she decided looked best, the answer I finally received back was that the enormous quote was only for the cabinets. Frustrated with the lack of information I went to Home Depot and sat down with their designer and walked away with a lot more information, measurements and samples to look at in my kitchen. If its this hard to just get basic information out of their designer, I don't even want to tackle the next steps with them. They were awesome at designing, but not so great on the follow up customer service. read more

We wanted to get kitchen cabinets/wood for a custom bar. We went in and talked to Anna and got our style and price options. Anna appeared to be helpful and knowledgeable as we were talked into a more expensive option. I don't fault her on that, that was our choice, but once the check cleared (and it was way more than we planned on) that was the last we heard from her. She told us in 4 to 5 weeks our general contractor would get the goods. It took 6 weeks. Not happy but OK. Then they screwed up our order and told us it would take another 3 weeks. Well, it took 4 and a half. Not once did we hear from Anna. We got our information through our general contractor who had a connection with her. With Anna being the point-man on all of this and with the tardiness (twice) I would expect her to call me personally, at least to apologize, but she didn't. I had to call her. I explained my problems nicely and she gave me apologetic lip service that was devoid of any real emotion. Yes, the product is nice when it shows up, but the customer service was terrible. Amazing in this day and age with the economy what it is and Anna could care less. I guess business is good at the Kitchen Store and they don't have to sweat the little guys like myself. I would not recommend this place. I have two friends that need new kitchens and I'm steering them away from here. read more

I have remodeled 2 kitchens and 2 bathrooms with cabinets from the Kitchen Store and am thrilled with the results! The selection of cabinet styles, colors, and detail features available - like an appliance garage to hide small ones when not in use - is vast. I worked with Victoria Torres, who is was - and is - amazing. She's a whiz on the computer creating virtual pictures of the remodeled rooms. She came out to make sure all measurements were correct. She is friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about their products and services. In addition to cabinets, The Kitchen Store offers counter tops as well. I also used installers recommended by them. Also competent and professional. One last comment - The Kitchen Store stands behind their products. They replaced , at no charge, a shelf that somehow fell out of alignment a year after installation. I have personally referred several friends to The Kitchen Store, and I highly recommend them to anyone reading this review. read more

I called and needed only a kithcen counter top installed after an epic fail with the Home Depot. I was quoted a price that day based upon the measurements that Home Depot took. The quote was $1000 more than HD. I called the counter guy that was contracted through the Kitchen Store (Sawead) and told him that the quote was too high. He said that he would come down on the quote. He met me at my house that afternoon, measured, and came in the same price as Home Depot. The counter was in in a week. I had to call Sawead to make sure he was coming. A call to confirm the date/time of installation would have been nice. I found Sawead to be honest and hard working. Fortunately we were directed to Ana Del Valle, who looked over our project through programming, design, delivery and installation. As with any client, we have particular design sensibilities that fit both ourselves and the character of our new home. Ana brought her talent and to the table while reading us very carefully. She made the long journey to our home twice to take measurements and then to discuss particular conditions. Ana can help you with suggestions and coordination for appliances, fixtures, and installers. The results are exactly as planned, everything fits, and there were no surprises. We paid for quality, and we got it. The installer found that two cabinet doors were damaged in shipping; two replacement doors were shipped to us promptly. What a fabulous experience with the team at The Kitchen Store!! We worked with Jim and he was so helpful with our design with his suggestions, and insight (pros, cons, etc...) no stone was left unturned. I felt confident with our design, cabinet and color selection! A kitchen remodel is one of those projects that you likely only do once so there's a lot of land mines with measurements, appliances, countertop options, cabinet hardware, flooring, lighting and Jim helped us with all aspects making this daunting project very do-able! Not to mention he's an amazing person to work with!!! We originally went to Home Depot and had 2 designs done (which we had to pay for) and what I learned is that we wasted a lot of time and got no value with our design appointments. At the end of the day, the cost of our cabinets was less than Home Depot with all of the bells and whistles I wanted. I am a happy customer. Ana Del Valle, the designer at the store designed our Kitchen. First of all, she has a solid background working on the production line, building kitchen cabinets. Second, she is creative, smart and uses the latest software to come up with a detailed design. She came to our house to take measurements, and came up with creative ideas, based on years of experience. She then proceeded to quote, applying whatever discount was available. During the implementation, Ana was on site to oversee the construction. Her presence on site was invaluable, as contractor do not always follow the exact design. When problems arose, as they often do, Ana met with the builder on site and together - they came up with solutions that sometime required a change in the design. My wife and I were so happy that we hired Ana to design our Guest and Master Bathrooms, and we are delighted with the results. we love Ana. Ana Del Valle was my designer for my kitchen and bathrooms in my condo 5 years ago, and since I was so pleased with the results, I tracked her down as she changed companies to do my new house I had just purchased. We are nearing the end of the remodel and she has been a joy to work with. The kitchen is beautiful, the 2 bathrooms are inspired, the fireplace in the great room that she specially designed for me is just fantastic and everyone that's seen it comments on how fabulous and eye-catching the design is. A good designer puts together rooms and spaces in a coherent fashion, but a great designer integrates not only the design element of a space in terms of picking materials that are not only artful but practical-- they also listen to you as a client and read between the lines of what you want in terms of style even though you can't quite verbalize it or express it explicitly. She then has to put all that together and interpret your conversations into a concrete design and come up with something that you don't even know that you wanted in the first place and voila! a design that's practical yet designed in an unexpected and inspired way. She has that extra something that enables her to make your room unique to you that's different than the same rooms you may see in any of your neighbors home. In designing kitchens and bathrooms creativity is not the only component, she clearly understands the practicality of a function in these 2 rooms and is very exacting in her craft. Her measurements are exact, and placement of every fixture, sink, appliances, down to the cabinet handles, etc are all thought out prior to demolition. I could go on and on, but if you need a great kitchen and bath designer, she's your go-to-girl. read more

Service is 5 stars. We worked with Ann Higginson. She worked with us when we were in a lurch when our contractor who said he was a designer, was not a designer. He had taken us to a cabinet warehouse that only had 5 styles and none were what we had told him we wanted and he proceeded to let the cabinet warehouse guy design our kitchen in about 15 minutes without our input and that was his design. Our contractor had already done demo and we had to hurry up and find something that we wanted. Ann worked with us for hours!! to design what we wanted during our time crunch and she came to our house several times to measure and explain the design to the contractor. We ordered Diamond cabinets. I'm not entirely pleased with the cabinets as we had to have a number of things replaced but Ann was wonderful with everything and responsive. We still have a couple of cabinet doors that have slight issues but we chose to leave it at that due to our trauma we experienced with the contractor. We were just done. The contractor did hire someone who Ann recommended to install the cabinets and we had some problems with the install - some mistakes and not finishing everything, but overall he did a good install with major things (especially leveling) and had to work with some issues that were the contractors fault. Overall, we are happy with the cabinets so far. I would give 4 stars because the installer The Kitchen Store recommended really rushed, and I think that's why mistakes were made. I'm not sure if the kitchen store should be docked a star for this or not. We probably would have been much less satisfied if we had relied on our contractor to install since almost everything else his workers did had to be fixed. read more

jim was fantastic. really great at helping us max out our small kitchen. really worked with us to create the style we wanted, and had some wonderful helpful suggestions along the way. he has YEARS of experience and it shows. they have a fantastic selection with a wonderful array of styles. i cannot speak to finished product as we in the end went in a different direction - but not through any fault of the kitchen store. they were fabulous to deal with - jim especially - and i would HIGHLY recommend. read more

One needs to understand that this is a mere retail cabinet shop with a nice showroom. The Kitchen Store does not manufacture custom cabinets. The cabinets only come in standard sizes and are imported (from China, likely). There is then an installer that one has to pay for separately from the cabs, and who will assemble the kitchen like a puzzle, filling in empty spots left by cabinets that are not made to specific size. Everything is extra, even a two feet molding which was proclaimed by our "designer" to be expensive. Really? We started at about $20,000 and quit at almost $40,000, at which point cash register printouts were pushed under our arms to be signed, now. We did not see a contract and were not offered one. In short, we turned to a custom cabinet contractor, who manufactured the cabinets, to size, in his shop, painted and installed them, and threw in the molding for about the original Kitchen Store estimate. When we could not find kitchen cabinets that met our quality requirements and were within our budget, our contractor suggested that we meet with Jim DeWitt at the Kitchen Store in Culver City. We made the drive (from Newport Beach) and were very glad that we did. Not only were the cabinets we selected (Diamond) extremely well made, but style and finish was exactly what we were looking for. Jim helped us think through all our needs and suggested cabinet and appliance placement. The process was really easy - we emailed designs back and forth to Jim with our questions and changes, and after a couple turns we were absolutely delighted - great design, outstanding quality and within budget. Jim came to our house to measure and confirm that what we had designed with his help was the best solution to our job. When he was on site we made some more changes, and Jim incorporated them into the design and sent them to us the next day. We signed off and were good to go - we thought: Then demo disclosed that one of the cabinets had to be altered, Jim returned and personally measured everything, provided us with our alternatives and then got the cabinet adjusted at the shop. When it arrived, it fit perfectly and we love the way it functions and works. We would never buy cabinets from any other source, and Jim's expertise and customer service is unparalleled. read more
