There's seats at the bar and a few high top tables with booth seating across from it. No reservations, walk ins only. I suggest keeping it to groups of 2-3. Anything larger is a tight fit. We came in after 10pm on a Saturday and were lucky to snag the only open table left. The craft cocktails are reasonably priced for the area at $15. There's a large variety and they even have mocktails. You can tell that the owners put creativity and thought into the drinks. They also have a food menu (snacks and small appetizers only) but we didn't get to try anything because it's only available until 10pm. Service was great. Bartenders are friendly and put a lot of love and effort into making your drinks. We ordered a margarita and a dark n' stormy (dark rum, lime, ginger beer). Both were presented beautifully and we enjoyed them! If you're in the Newport area and want to enjoy unique cocktails in a more intimate environment, definitely check this spot out.

This year was no different than the other years and I love how the menu continues to evolve and change and everything that comes to life from the menu to the table is well thought out and bursting with harmonious blends of flavor. We live in the west side and I cannot say enough how much better oysters are on east coast! Slurp ! Mmm! Snacks: 1. Shartner's Farm Carrots: pea green pesto, pine nut, n'duja . If you're a meat, potato and pasta person and try to avoid your veggies, don't do that here. GET IT! It's such a great melody of textures and flavors that pair well. Narragansett Creamery Burrata: green strawberry, speck, basil. Maltagliati- hopkins southdowns lamb sugo, swiss chard, harissa, umbrian chickpea. Excellent! Pasta was perfect texture and consistency!! Little touch of spice from harissa which I loved (not overpowering). The Swiss chard was cooked to a crispy texture which I loved. I was a bit nervous about the lamb because it really can vary from place to place. However, I should have known better being from here they cooked/braised it to perfection: melt in your mouth type of soft and no weird or gamey taste. Definitely delicious pasta I recommend. Plates: 1. Duck Leg Confit- japanese turnip, spigariello kale, huckleberry conserva, duck jus. Personally my faves of the two plates but both delicious. The crispy skin from the duck and tender flavorful duck meat was just to die for. Loooooved. Plus the turnips and the amazing huckleberry conserva! Thinking about it makes my mouth water. So so good. 2. Beef Short Rib-swiss chard erbazzone, sunchoke, hazelnut. Loved it. Tasty as expected. Great flavor and tender. Dessert: 1. Olive Oil Cake- strawberry, rosé, lime curd, basil gelato. Wow! Oh wow! I'm so happy this time around they have some cake options. I love olive oil cake and now to pair with a basil gelato sounds insane right? Holy cow! Soooo good! Not what I was expecting. Strawberry, rose, lime and basil gelato flavor all work well together in this dessert. My fave dessert of the night! TRY IT! 2. Cookies N' cream: narragansett creamery ricotta, chocolate biscotti- yummy! Tasted like an elevated cookies and cream ! We loved our experience! Portion sizes are small, and at cafe prices. The avocado toast was super disappointing... it was one slice of bread, a smear of avocado, and about a quarter cup of chopped up tomatoes. I put more butter on my toast than the amount of avocado this one had. It's a great local spot, but be warned about the food/prices.

So when we made plans to spend the day in Newport, I had some time to book the perfect restaurant. Also, a few choices came to mind, but then I found Flora. Flora is fairly new to Newport. A Mediterranean hot spot with gorgeous views in the beautiful Gardiner House, which used to be a vacant lot. The good - Parking can be difficult around here since its down a side street off Thames. They do Valet for $25 which I thought was a bit steep. So, we eventually found metered street parking. Upon walking to the restaurant we were greeted by a very friendly attendant. He showed us the way to the restaurant which was up a few flights of staircases. The great - Once inside Flora we were greeted by a very nice Hostess. She brought us to our table which was overlooking the ocean. The ambiance is stunning! Our server came over and we ordered a bottle of water and some drinks. Then, we also ordered one of their popular appetizers called Jamon Con Tomate - delish! Then, we ordered their beet salad which was also good. For entrees, I went with their Black Bass (something new that I have never heard of before). My husband had their Veal Scallopini, also excellent. They brought over 2 different desserts for my birthday, one with a candle of course. In summary - Everything about this restaurant was spectacular. But Beech in Jamestown had me pulling out my phone faster than I pull out my wallet at the end of a great meal. We showed up early like the eager, slightly-too-hungry couple we are. Somebody's grandmother's secret recipe dipped in liquid gold. It melted in my mouth so fast I briefly forgot my own name. My wife had to remind me we were in public. Speaking of my wife -- she ordered the Tortellacci. Stuffed pasta, porcini mushrooms, ricotta, limoncello cream sauce, white truffle shavings. She took one bite and just stared at me. No words. Just stared. That's how you know it was BANANAS. In the best possible way. The rolls came out hot and fresh, which is honestly its own love language. Our water and bread gal? Sunshine in human form.
