Portions are small for the price. Flavor was mediocre but service was slow. Slow to take the order, slow to bring the food and slow to check out. We were still hungry when we left despite being out $75. We were there mid afternoon on a Saturday and it wasn't that busy...most tables were empty. My husband and I decided to go to The Landing after being in the area. We weren't sure what we should expect from the menu but the restaurant looked appealing. On a Friday night the parking lot was busy and the patio was buzzing with patrons. When we entered we were immediately greeted and given warm welcomes from the staff. Booths and tables align the permit we inside with a bar in the middle. We chose a booth and were immediately greeted by our waitress. She was courteous and knowledgeable about the menu and returns quickly with our drinks for a busy night. The menu has a variety of choices and honestly, it was hard to choose a few items. Our food was prepared promptly and tasted great. The avocado tacos were a perfect texture and the nachos had just the right amount of toppings. We liked our experience so much that we returned the next week with our very picky ten year old. For a second time, our food was delicious and the service was exceptional. read more

I hate having to write this review. We brought a friend here after raving about this place. First we tried to order one of the special cocktails with house tequila and they were out so we were offered an upgrade at a typical cost, then when we declined the server came back and offered us the upgraded tequila at a $1 upcharge after talking to her Manager. Since it wasn't our fault they were out of house, substitute a like value at no upcharge. We declined and decided to hit the Tiki Bar next door after dinner. Then we ordered the special, fish and chips. Since I'd had fish and chips at another restaurant the night before and remembered how huge the portion of fish was (4 of us couldn't finish it at $20), my friend and I opted to share an order and my husband got his own. When the plates came out, there were 3 tiny pieces of fish on each (I was so flabbergasted I forgot to take a picture) one of which was mainly crispy batter which I found after I broke off batter to get to the fish and ate the one bite. The other two pieces were pale, light batter either not the same or cooked a lot less. Not sure why there was such a huge difference on the batter. We shared the 8 bites of fish...small bites. The plate was full of great French fries, cole slaw which didn't taste like I much (it needed salt and pepper for taste which I had to get off another table) but we were given a good helping. They did send someone out to level our table without us asking for more than napkins to put under the leg, good customer service there. Our server who felt awful about the tequila issue didn't have time to check on us. We had to request silverware and napkins after we got our meal delivered. We requested an extra plate and we were given one a little bigger than a saucer to share a meal...we asked for a larger one and got it, all from a busser. It was embarrassing since we'd raved about this place. We waited 10 minutes after we were done to wave down our server, requested our bill, and came home. The music tonight was really good. Had dinner with a friend last night. When making reservations, I was told there would be live music starting at the time of our reservation. Sounded fun; I love music. The restaurant is really cute and offers outdoor seating. It's pretty small. Service was great. Our waitress gave suggestions, was very friendly and polite and checked in often making sure we had everything we needed. I ordered the Tiki Tiki for my drink and it was delish! For my entree, I chose the carne asada bowl. I was delighted they had cauliflower rice and healthy options. It was just okay. My friend's chicken drummettes and salad look fabulous! The menu has several different options that sound tasty! I'd love to come back to try some other options. My only complaint is that the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other to have conversation during dinner. read more

We wanted to try a new place for casual fare and, despite there being no menu posted online and few reviews, decided to give it a try. We were promptly seated, drinks ordered at happy hour prices ($1.00 off well drinks and drafts), and placed our food order within a few minutes. Meals were delivered relatively quickly and orders were correct. Our party of five had these meals: La Paz cod tacos (2 tacos and small bowl of beans); chicken drumettes (8 pieces w/sauce); carne asada plate ( 2 street tacos & beans); camarones bowl; and Chubasca shrimp (2 tacos & beans). Chips & salsa were an extra cost menu item, as were the French fries to accompany the chicken drumettes. We all enjoyed our meals, but were in agreement that it was not really a good value for the money. I doubt we'll return, unless it may just be for a drink and appetizer during happy hour. Well this time they say reservation was for 13 ok I can deal with that then only give us 8 chairs. No apology. Just rude employees and a manager who wouldn't talk to us. so we went first to the "speak easy" ok ambience mostly, decided on Mai Tais at. 16.00 a piece. Weve had them at many places, Trader Vic's being the best and these were the worst we've ever been served. No flavor at all except the rum and frozen slices of lime. Not good in any way. Ok so we paid our bar b with tip and went to the main restaurant. Not too busy for a Saturday,should have told us something. Everything from the Ahi salad to the tacos were flavorless and mediocre at best. For the prices they charge it was a true failure and disappointmen. We are always searching for fresh fish sandwiches in Tucson, so we were incredibly happy to stumble on The Landing while my tire was being fixed at Discount Tire. The menu is generously sized, so there is plenty besides fish sandwiches to enjoy. I had the Gulf Stream 2 barramundi sandwich, and the fish was amazing! Crispy on the outside, and so flavorful. My wife had the grilled salmon sandwich, and it was awesome as well. great fries and Cole slaw as sides, which we shared. We sat outside, but inside was very pleasant. I ended up here for dinner late on a Thursday night, because it was the only spot in the area that seemed to serve food after 9 p.m. I do like Fini's so I assumed I would also like The Landing. They have a smaller, but nice patio, and the inside is comfortable and would be good for watching a game. I didn't order any drinks, but the bar seemed to have a good amount and variety of taps. We had the nicest server. He was super cool and shared what his favorite menu items were. I had high expectations for the food, and I was a bit disappointed. I ordered nachos with carnitas ($17), and my husband got a cup of pork green chile stew and the birria tacos. My nachos were tasty, but a bit cold. The meat and cheese sauce should have been warmer. If I ordered them again, I'd also forgo the chubasco aioli. I didn't quite like its flavor on nachos. My husband was not pleased with his food. He thought both the tacos and stew were too salty. I tried both items, and I concurred. The bite of pork I got from the stew was mostly fat, which was unappetizing. For the price, I expected better. read more

No pictures beveled ordered delivery. On the first order that I clearly marked as delivery, I was given a pick up time. As we're watching the basketball games here in Tucson, I was not opting to pick up anything. Upon calling the restaurant and speaking to the manager, he told me there was nothing he could do with my order as it was listed as pick up. He said he would refund me the amount and 2 to 3 days. We decided to order a cam, from the landing, for delivery. Again, this was a convoluted experience, but we eventually got through it. our delivery was scheduled between 8 PM and 8:10 PM, it was delivered at approximately 8:40 PM, due to the fact that I received a call from the driver saying he could not locate our address. We will definitely be having second thoughts about ordering from this "joint" again. I believe the managers name was Jason, but he offered no solutions or apologies and offers for the future. Brunch in Tucson meeting new people/coworkers. The landing is located in a more affluent area of Tucson ( as I understand) from the name I wasn't sure of what kind of place/ food they serve. The restaurant has an outside patio of decent proportion. The inside is not too large. One notable thing it is very clean. Weird things I notice. The bar area has a few TVs showing the current games and a decent array of beers on draft. The menu isn't large ( not always a bad thing ) with a nuance of different types of foods- mostly "Mexican-esque" or Mexican-American ( think nachos) And lots of Barramundi ( sea bass) plates. Our group ordered a burger - can't really screw up a burger and if you do then there's bigger problems. The French fries were typical to frozen beer battered generic fries - and the serving was very tiny ( I didn't care because it wasn't myself or my husband that ordered-heee). I ordered the birria tacos and my husband the green chili pork. Being brown I often worry about the taste/ Mexican food that is served by non Mexican bars/restaurants- so I'm a snob. I know I know but what can I say when I had mi mama as a chef making all our meals?? I digress. The tacos. A little on the greasy side but.. BUT they were good. I didn't care for the thick ( too old) consomé that came with it. It was gelatinized. A bit on the eew side if you ask me. Or as we say Huacala ... The green pork pork was on point. The flavours were bursting. Had a perfect amount of spice for non spice eaters but enough to keep spice lovers happy. We ordered beers for our drinks. I did screw up and was sucked in by someone else ordering a pretty orange drink. I opted to try it much to my dismay to find out it was already premixed!! WTF WTF!! that tells me the bartenders aren't real bartenders. Mixed drinks should be made fresh not in a giant nasty batch to just pour out unless you're making frozen margaritas or sangria and even then it better be fresh. I wouldn't completely disregard coming back knowing what to fully expect. Service was spotty. Younger servers with a bit of attitude. read more

Kind of a neat place with great ability to watch football (or sports in general). The restaurant is clean, with a comfortable environment. We started with the eight drumettes, and then had a burger and fries and a salmon sandwich with onion rings. The drumettes are a very different take on hot wings and had a very good taste. Both the burger and salmon sandwich were good portions and tasty. The down-side is that this is a very pricey meal. The eight drumettes (wings) were $18. Each iced tea was $3.25. What really got me was that the $14 salmon sandwich required a $2.00 add-on to get 7 onion rings as a side. If the alert that there would be an additional charge for onion rings was on the menu, I missed it. So that may be on me. But the waitress, Brianna said nothing. $56 before tip for this lunch. WOW! The service was good and attentive but not extremely warm and friendly. I'm not sure whether we will return, but I hope they do well. These prices may just not fly in this area. read more

Summary: It has the vibe of a sports bar, very loud with lots of TVs everywhere showing various games. Not much seafood on the menu and the shrimp taco I tried was mediocre and overpriced. I was so excited to try this "surf and turf" restaurant, as described by a Tucson Foodie article. Wow, was I disappointed. It's nebulous claim to surf & turf is that it has a couple of tacos with fish or shrimp in them, and a shrimp bowl. It has no more seafood than most Mexican restaurants or any restaurant, really. But if it had a fun or nice atmosphere, maybe it could have been enjoyable in spite of its generic menu. I stopped by early (5 pm) on a Saturday evening to scout it out as a place to go with a group of friends later in the week. I was expecting a fun, beachy, surf & turf vibe from the Tucson Foodie article. So it was disconcerting to walk in to what felt like a sports bar. The old Chuy's has been remodeled so that there's a large bar in the center of the space with tables along the perimeter. Large screen TVs are everywhere. Although it was early in the evening, the noise level was already at a considerable roar. The patio has some tables but there are also TVs out there, so I'm not sure if you would be able to get away from the noise & sports out there. It was triple digits temperatures this week, so no one was out there when I visited. The menu seems pricey for what you get. The shrimp taco I tried was meh. I'll post a photo of the menu. If you are looking for a bar that serves food where you can hang out and watch a game, it might be fine. But I was expecting a nice casual restaurant with lots of seafood on the menu. The happy hour is amazing and incredibly and economically friendly, the drinks are delicious, the staff is amazing (especially Mitch n Mia) but the foods better than advertised and the atmosphere is incredibly inviting and friendly. I genuinely recommend coming by and experiencing for yourself and if you don't believe me then read the rest of my reviews and that should sell you. 10 out of 10! A wonderful new addition to the menu at The Landing: Fisherman's Stew! It's full of delicious fish and vegetables. It's fresh and comforting at the same time (if that's possible). The spices in the stew compliment the fish without being overpowering. I had it the other night, and woke up thinking about it. This stew is a must try. The person who said, 'you can never go home again', never had Chef Ryan's Fisherman's Stew. The nautical theme is an interesting choice for a sports bar in Tucson. But, overall The Landing is clean, fresh and new. And there are plenty of TVs at every angle, a bunch of beers on tap, and a solid selection of Tucson pub grub, including a few seafaring selections featuring barramundi (aka Asian sea bass). It's not a huge space inside. But there's a patio with plenty of seating and a nice view of the mountains. Happy hour is M-F 2-6pm. Service was friendly but clunky. Eg: Order mix ups, dropping n' dashing (aka dropping off orders and leaving before you can ask for things like spoons, etc.), pushing additional beers before the current one is even half gone, not including condiments/napkins in to go orders etc. Food: Chips salsa and grilled guacamole ($11). The guac had a lot of raw red onion on it. So bring a breath mint. There was nothing "grilled" about the flavor at all. And everything needed a healthy dose of salt. So for $11 this is a hard pass. Pork green chili stew ($5/10) was pretty good. Like a pozole, tender pork, lightly flavored broth. The Gulfstream sandwich and Cheeseburger were both pretty good, even though the ciabatta bread they were each served on didn't handle take out very well, and ended up pretty spongy after a 5 minute drive. They were served dry, with no condiments of any kind. And none were provided in the bag or offered before I left. Anyway, overall, The Landing is a decent sports bar on the North side of town. Great for a beer and a game with a small crew. The food is better than, say, nearby Famous Sams. If the service is better next time I'll upgrade to 4 stars. read more
