Husband heard of Goyitas and so last night we were both off early and decided to try it out. You never know what to expect and NM food..... Our server was prompt and we had drinks with chips & salsa immediately. We were there early and it was pretty full since UA was playing. There were 3 tables available still. So maybe a great place to watch the game and get some grub. We both had combo plate- I had red Chile and hubs had green. Tacos were great and enchiladas-chile rellenos standard. Service was really good!! Hats off to Dana, Nina, and Kyle for being so attentive and keeping up with the crowd. Mom & Pop type shop, they everyone's name. Prices were on point and we got a lot of food. Drinks were not over priced. Chile Relleno was good, very spicy and I loved it!! Their green chile sauce and sopapillas extremely underwhelming! I normally love small businesses/restaurants and I haven't done a Yelp review in years but my experience at Goyita's was down right abysmal. I have been to and got takeout from here many times before and the food is normally pretty good. However, this takeout was absolute robbery on their part. I should have recognized the red flag when we ordered and the person on the other end of the call had no idea they had green chile con carne burritos on their menu. Alas, I ignored the red flag. My mistake. The picture in this review is the result of a "burrito" that immediately fell apart when I took it out of the takeout box. It was literally enough meat to fill a taco and a half but definitely NOT enough to fill a burrito and at $15 they essentially robbed me. To top it all off, the meat was cold and the tortilla was extremely soggy and slimey. It didn't really matter as I threw the tortilla out it was so bad. I wish I took a "before" pic to show how small and poorly made this burrito really was. It was by far the worst burrito I have had in a long time. I definitely will NOT be returning. read more

4.2 stars: Dinned at lunch time on the outside patio. DOGS ARE WELCOME. Ate here a few years ago and returned upon our recent visit to the area, because I like the New Mexico style chilis in their recipes. Food: I had the cheese enchiladas (Christmas style - red/green) with an egg on top. Wife had a wet chicken burrito (Christmas style). Both servings were very good and the sauce is delicious. Service: very good. Greeted upon entering the restaurant. Server was friendly and prompt with menus, drinks and food. Ambiance: Inside the restaurant there is a bar by the entrance and dining tables throughout. And the outside patio there were two full-size tables. Unfortunately for us, it was delivery time for nearby businesses (strip mall) which made it difficult to carry on a conversation ( no fault of the restaurant, just bad timing). Will return again. Had a late lunch early dinner around 230-3 pm. Excellent fast service. Green chili beef plate and red chili beef plate both excellent, very simple, good quality, straightforward. The stewed beef was quality, tender and tasted good. The chili flavors were the star as it should be. Not overseasoned and no cumin (most Americanized Mexican places use a lot of cumin which is overpowering and doesn't traditionally belong). The flour tortillas were fresh, thin, and delicious. Crispy taco with shredded beef was good. The mini chimis were decent enough, probably my least favorite item but I'm not a huge fan of chimis anyways. The fresh salsa was a little salty and the chips were kind of hard, maybe a bit stale... but hey, they're free included with your meal and I still ate them. I would eat here again. read more

On a recommendation from a friend, we headed from Vail to the other side of Tucson for lunch yesterday. My husband is a Hatch green and red chile fanatic, growing up in New Mexico. As we drove the 48 minutes for lunch we kept saying, "this place better be good." Oh and it was, in fact it was GREAT! From the very clean restaurant to the smiling friendly staff to the beyond amazing food we loved it. We both ordered the combination plates, small and large and YUM. The crunchy tacos were delicious, the chile rellano perfectly done and the enchilada with both red/green sauces rounding it out for a win on everything. Beans are obviously homemade. What was really good though were the chips/salsa. The chips were SO good, maybe they make them there fresh? We both had a freshly made sopapilla for dessert to round out our late lunch putting it in the outstanding category. They have indoor and outdoor seating, tables are spread out which is nice given the pandemic and they put hand sanitizer on the tables. read more

I've been here many times and generally it's been fairly good. Today, however I had lunch there sat in the back room were the services always poor. I got the lunch special twin Las rice and beans. When the server first brought my plate out, it was not even warm. So I sent it back and told him to redo it. It took over 15 minutes to make a new plate and by the time it came out, my girlfriend had finished her lunch. The new plate was warm, but definitely not hot. The rice was stuck together and the beans were definitely not hot and were clumpy. The enchiladas had hardly any sauce and almost no cheese. Their food has gone down significantly the last three or four times I've been there. They simply are too busy or too few people working the restaurant. There were 10 tables full, and only two servers. No one work in the register and appeared as though they only two people in the kitchen. There are so many great Mexican restaurants nearby like El Charro and Guadalajara Grill that are extremely well managed and they have adequate staff. Goyitas time has come and gone. read more

Looking for authentic Mexican cuisine. Ignored early negative reviews to give this family-owned business a try. Service? Excellent! Greeted immediately. Seated at a table of my choice. Food? Excellent! I ordered sopapillas with beef and potatoes. Added a side of whole pinto beans and rice. Served with chips and salsa. Just the right amount of spice and heat. The sopapillas were cooked to perfection. Light, crispy, and golden. I watched customers at two other tables enjoying their meals and overheard their comments on how much they enjoyed the food. The check was presented with a smile, by my server, with a statement. "See you next time." I happily replied, "See you next time," and looking forward to my next meal there. read more

Went to the latest location in Green Valley, AZ on a weekday. Took one hour to get drink service then another hour to be served dinner. Luckily was not in a rush, but service was incredibly slow and understaffed. The food overall looked very good (ordered a large combination plate and multiple sampler platters), however the taco meat was luke warm when it arrived and had an "odd flavor". Long story short, family and I spent the next two days with a sick stomachs. I know the restaurant has only been open for a few weeks, but quality and service need improvement. I know know where o get my NM Chile fix in the Tucson area!! It is so hard to find when we are out of our home state of NM and so sorely missed. We had the shredded beef taco , their taco Tuesday sale for $1 off and a large combination plate with two tacos, two enchiladas, rice, and beans PLUS a sopapilla, my dessert lol. I am highly disappointed with all the high ratings at this place. We came for lunch today and although the server was extremely nice and she seemed like she was on her stuff, the food was disappointing and it took FOREVER. I ordered a taco and rice, our friend ordered the cheese enchilada special for lunch and my husband ordered a Chile relleno and a taco. First batch of salsa was runny. Second was thick. I had been wanting to try this place since I heard they came to Tucson with a New Mexico flare. I was disappointed with the dry tortilla chips and watered down salsa. I did like they brought you a mini pitcher of tea. This was a lunch with several coworkers. One person ordered the rice bowl with red chili from the lunch menu and she said it was overly hot and only had 2-3 chunks of meat. I ordered the three taco plate. The tacos just tasted like grease. The best part was the rice and beans. They were savory with no need for salt or salsa. I would not return, it would be out of my way since I reside on the east side of town. read more

I've been a huge fan of this restaurant for many years but sadly my last two take out experiences have made me question whether I want to go back. The first disappointment was when I was when I ordered six entrees and discovered when I got home that there were only five. I called immediately but since they were closing soon they said they could not provide the entree that I ordered and paid for. I only live two minutes away BTW. They simply said I could come in sometime and ask for a free entree. Not very helpful. Last week we decided to give their take out another go. Problems started when we ordered the fajita platter and were told that they were out of bell peppers so we could order it but it would have onions only. Since it's one of the most expensive things on the menu, we asked if they could substitute something else for the bell peppers or discount the price to account the lack of an important ingredient. They said there was no one who could approve that so it was either order it without the bell peppers or get something else. Again, not helpful. Nevertheless we thought we would make up for it by using the coupon from the money mailer. We couldn't find the one that came in the mail so we printed the same coupon online on their website, only to be told when we got there that they do not accept printed coupons. Ridiculous! I've been to other great restaurants in town that have happily accepted the coupon on my phone without me having to even print it out. After the poor customer service I hoped that the food would at least be worth it but I made the mistake of putting their salsa on my entree and apparently the person who made it that day had a heavy hand with the salt shaker because it was nearly inedible. The restaurant is always very busy so what I'm saying here will probably fall on deaf ears but I felt it needed to be said. read more

I was pleased to find a restaurant that specializes in New Mexican food. The shredded beef enchiladas were good. Maybe a bit heavy on the cheese. They have one of the best margaritas I've had. I don't know what the secret ingredient is, but it's fantastic. I didn't have to wait too long for seating on an early Friday evening. The bar seats about 12, and it seemed like everyone knew each other. There's a real small community vibe. The service was outstanding! Extremely friendly staff! Wow! I finally found the best New Mexico Mexican Food right here in Oro Valley!!! First time in Friday night and when I took my first bite of my stacked chicken enchiladas it sent me back to when I travelled in the state of New Mexico. The hatch red chili sauce is so tasty! Can't show you a pic of my dish since I inhaled it. lol! I will be back to try other dishes on the menu. I'm sure they won't disappoint. We've been here twice now on our visit to the Tucson area. Both times we sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a lovely Mountain View. The first time the service was lacking, but the second time we had an excellent waiter. The food has been very good. We've had the tostadas of all different types. Most recently I got the shredded beef burrito Christmas style and it was excellent. We also enjoyed the guacamole and chips appetizer. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place out of a while. We were behind some other people who were by the hostess stand we all just waited and waited and waited. We saw plenty of servers go by and said nothing to them or us. It would had been nice if they said someone will be right with you we are extremely busy. We waited around for probably 15-20 minutes with no one saying anything. We should have walked out, but I kept telling my husband and two kids we have already waited this long it can't be much longer. Finally the hostess spoke to the people in front of us and they stated they wanted a table, but it had to be cleared off. I thought finally we are going to get seated. They took another 5 minutes just to clear the table for the people in front of us and then spoke to us. We probably waited 30 minutes just to get seated when there were plenty of tables open. There are a few good things which was that when we did get seated our server brought chips and salsa right away. My husband ordered a margarita and the bartender forgot about it. She did apologize, but we couldn't believe it. Once we did order our food took forever. Our server did apologize a few times about it taking so long. When we did get our food it was hot and tasty. I really liked the chicken enchilada. It had a nice heat to it. We maybe back, but I am not too sure. Maybe we should try to go in the middle of the week to see if we get better service. First, I must say that I have been to Goyita's several/many times over the last two years, and this one was very unusual, the worst time I/we have experienced. The server, Elizabeth, was great. I would give her 4 stars just for her service and the attention she provided. Unfortunately, I can't give more than 2 stars with everything else included. The owners and management need to know the kitchen and manager messed up. I ordered the Steak Tampiqueno. I have had this a few times before, but this one was not as great as usual. It was at most okay. The first few times I had this dish, it was great. This cut was an extremely thick flank steak that had no flavor. Every other time I had this, it was the thinner cut and very flavorful and tender. This time, not so. All of the other times, it was a thin and tender cut that had flavor. It also had more than just a few small pieces of Hatch Green Chile. This steak had maybe half a dozen small pieces of Hatch Green Chile over the entire steak. The Hatch Green Chile had very little/no flavor. It doesn't have to be spicy, although that is much better, but it had very little to no flavor. The onions were good, but more would have been better. There were maybe about half a dozen onions as well. We also ordered a Cadillac Margherita with reposado tequila, but you could not tell. It tastes pretty much like sweet and sour and some lemon/limeade. With reposado, you should have a little of the barrel aged tequila flavor. There was none, which usually means they were very short on the tequila. I ordered an IPA to replace the margarita. For desert, we ordered a sopapilla and an Irish coffee, and my brother in law ordered coffee. The sopapilla was pretty good, a little salty, but pretty good. The coffee was another story. The coffee used in my Irish coffee and the coffee my BIL had was terrible. It was old and burnt. The manager stopped by after I expressed our dissatisfaction with the coffee, and the manager basically said we were crazy and that the coffee was just made. All I have to say is BS. I know coffee, as well as New Mexican food, very well. What bothered me most was her, the manager, insistence that the coffee was fresh and that she was insistent that we were wrong. My brother in law and I both served in the military, and we both know terrible coffee when we try to drink it. This was terrible. At least she should have offered to remake the coffee and drink. Instead, she repeated we were wrong. As I indicated in my earlier review, I know New Mexican food very well. Besides living there over thirteen years, my late wife, who was a chef, was born in New Mexico and was taught very well all about cooking all food but especially New Mexican food. She would have been appalled with the food served tonight. Goyita's was my most favorite restaurant in this area, but no longer. They are going to need to make major improvements, food, and management before I go back again. read more

Sort of an off-putting space in a strip mall that's hard to access. Only reason I was there was to get a Paloma made with Del Bac Old Pueblo. The nasty bartenderess acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. Then she discovered that she was "out of" grapefruit soda (um, that's not an ingredient in a real paloma) thankfully I just got a margarita with the Del Bac OP. Was OK too sweet. Took her about 20min to make it as she can't do more than one thing at a time. Won't be back. read more

No no no. How this place gets a 4 star is beyond me. Not a fan. Worst tasting water even with lemon, and they don't have bottled water to buy. There was a hair in the salsa. We ordered a shredded beef burrito. It was very plain and dry. Tortillas were ok. Rice was warm (not hot) but the beans were flavored well. I would have expected a little garnish, pico, or sour cream on the side to help with the dryness. Walking in, the service was terrible, no one greeted us, they all just walked around doung their thing. The waitress was terrible. Clearly no one is happy to be there. It's a job, no passion, so excitement, no smile. Everyone's like a robot. The whole experience was blah as was the food. We won't be making another trip back. read more
