We drove close to an hour for some fresh seafood and on a work night too. My son had just returned from being out of town and it was game on for seafood night. We were gonna eat and eat and eat more. That was the plan. Cute little place in a small little town. Walk in the door and get thrown into the bar and hostess stand. Our first words were "awesome, we can eat oysters at the bar". We were immediately greeted with a young lady who boldly says "no, you can not". The owner doesn't allow that! She then proceeded to grab a few menus and take a turn to the right while saying "I'll seat you at a table for your dinner". I said "what if we would like to sit at the bar", no, the owner doesn't like it and I don't want to make her mad. Oh ok. Hum. I ask my party of 2 (3 including me) if they were ready to leave. I didn't like that attitude, at all. They said no and we stayed. I'm not in the mood for this anymore. So here we go .... ordered me a water and then a drink from the bar and a couple dozen oyster and some she crab soup. Should've stopped right there. That was good but the rest of the meal is nothing to brag about. The O rings could not be picked up since the batter didn't stick at all, the seafood platter, ehhhhhh nah. Captain D's quality. The other couple that was leaving when we arrived had the same experience. We heard it all. The same waitress who didn't allow us to sit at the bar told them that there wasn't much she could do about it and offered them a salad to go?????????? Um, no, I said the food was bad, cold as a matter of fact and I don't want any more of it. The waitress said it was out of her control. I will say that we spent over 100.00 and the best part was how entertaining it is to watch a small gem like this be tainted with such horrible service. She said the owner wasn't there so, I guess when the boss is away, the cat will play. Thanks for the oysters! I have written a review after my first visit. I am writing another to make sure to get the word out that if you have never been to the Last Catch when you are close to Jasper, GA, you need to take the time to visit. It's always good and service is also. Our last visit, the Saturday before Mother's Day, it was packed as usual but we were seated within a reasonable period of time. We had Carson and she was delightful and efficient. We had Oysters Rockefeller to begin. They were smokey and delicious. Mom had fried oysters and shrimp and she loved them. I had one of their specials, soft shell crabs. I prefer my soft shell crabs pan sautéed in lemon butter and these were deep fried. Still very good. read more

Absolutely delightful. Dad had the fried catfish and I ordered blacked catfish and both entrees were positively superb: heat wise, spice-wise, and textured. I forget what app we got but I recall liking it. The true star of the show was dessert, banana pudding fit for the gods. their trick is to substitute nutter butters for Nilla Wafers and first of all, GENIUS! and secondly, poor me. Here I am back in NJ thinking of dessert that's very far away. Sigh. My dad recently moved to the area. It was important for me to get him hooked up with nice breakfast- and lunch spots in his new hometown so i know he's loved and looked after and well-fed. A Seafood Restaurant in The Mountains? Yes!! And Boy is it good?! Best meal we've had in a while!! We traveled to Pickens to watch our son in a high school Basketball game. Left the school with a win and wondered where to grab a bite to eat before our hour and a half drive home. YELP has good reviews and has never steered us wrong, so here we are at The Last Catch. The service and smiles were present from the moment we walked through the door. EVERYONE we met - whether they were waiting our table or not - was super-friendly and eager to help. We both ordered fried grouper (only blackened grouper on menu but didn't seem to matter - waiter said No Problem. It was DELICIOUS! He got potato, I got squash 'n zucchini-both great! Slaw & hush puppies are good too! Taking home a slab Million Dollar Cake because the reviews are great, but we're too full to eat it now. We'll be back! I've eaten here a few times, and meal always good. Not so much this past week. I ordered Caesar with shrimp. The first thing I noticed was that the romaine lettuce was totally wilted. Then I bit into a shrimp. It was not completely cooked. It was horrible. So sorry because my meals on the other visits were spot-on. read more

Pretty good. The service was great! The prices were fair for what we received. The fish was fine and fresh. I can't give it a 5-star because the veggies were bland, not flavor at all, really. The main entrees were pretty good. For example, I had the fish tacos and they came in soft flour tortillas. An authentic fish taco would be served in a corn tortilla. We got here 30 min before closing time and they gladly still served us! The food and service were both amazing!

First off, great wait staff. Not only friendly and informative, but every one of them walk around and ask if you need anything and clear dirty dishes. Fish tacos fresh and colorful and bursting with taste (I think it's the daily-made fresh Mango salsa!) White clam chowder not your typical creamy paste. Very flavorful and thinner broth. Best she crab soup and fried fish in this area! Cole slaw is fabulous-not too tart, just the right amount of dressing, not soggy. Hush puppies-that's another gem on the platter! Little over a month ago we were coming through this town and found The Last Catch. The food was wonderful and we enjoyed talking with the owners. Last weekend we were coming through Georgia and decided to drive an hour out of our way to pick up some "she crab soup" and "clam chowder" and take home. The soup had so much dill in it I couldn't even eat it and the chowder didn't have much more than broth. It was such a disappointment since we liked it so much the first time. Being from Florida I hesitate to buy seafood in a restaurant in another state. Last catch was recommended to us by locals and was in walking distance of our lodging, so I took a gamble and so glad we did. Facility is small compared to some places which afforded us a quiet dinner, with great service, and awesome food. Wine and beer selection very accommodating, menu offers a wonderful variety at extremely reasonable prices. At home I would have been charged double the price and the serving would have been smaller. Selected the shrimp and fish basket with 6 large shrimp and 2 big pieces of fish. Husband had the crab cakes - 4 good sized cakes w crab not bread crumbs. Unexpectedly good seafood in the mighty metropolis of Jasper! Joe had the blackened halibut with Greek Salsa special & I tried the grouper with mango salsa. Both were delicious. Reasonably standard 'platter' menu would have been good, but the daily specials are a cut above. The complimentary crab dip with crackers is a nice touch as well - chilled lump crab in a creamy low-country pimiento-cheese with a nice horseradish bite. We'll be back! read more

Nice seafood find in town, had the trout which was delicious but they served the sauce on top of the skin, they should serve open with topping on the fish. They serve a complimentary crab dip that tastes like mayo and cheese not sure where any crab is. Not a good first impression but it got better with our entree. When I finished college, I joined an International CPA firm that specialized in restaurants and hotels. I have audited 100's of large chain and privately owned restaurants. I understand how difficult this business is as you have to be perfect every time or a customer has a bad experience. My wife and I have eaten at Last Catch six times. She always orders the catfish and asks it to be hard fried very well. IT is always under cooked. Ryan, do you read what the servers write on the order? We complain every time and you never come out to address our issue. I have concluded you do not care. BTW, please fly to San Francisco, eat at any restaurant on the Warf and learn how to make Clam Chowder. Yours is terrible. read more

We were driving from North Carolina to the airport in Atlanta and used Yelp to find a restaurant for lunch on our way. The reviews were great and did not disappoint. The place was easy to find, very quaint, great service and the food was excellent. We had the tilapia fish tacos with mango salsa, the calamari appetizer and the special tacos which were fresh grouper with Asian slaw. Fresh and delicious. Highly recommend this place. I had been here once before and brought my husband for lunch today. It was delicious both times. We had the half pound peel and eat shrimp. The shrimp were huge and delicious. My husband got a catch basket with shrimp and flounder. He loved it. I got the clam chowder and it was one of the best I have had. I would definitely recommend The Last Catch. read more
