The salad is a bit small for 4 ppl I believe, but the kids dont want salad anyway so it worked out fine. They decanted the wrong beer for our growler...but the bartender was also taking orders on the pjone and assembling orders. He looked suoer busy and it didnt look like he had enough help. All I have to say is I'm really impressed with the Laubers response to COVID. There's lots of outdoor seating. There's different people who bring your food and clear the tables. Everyone is in masks and gloves. Plus if you order to go, there's a separate section of the restaurant that you pick up your order. You don't come in contact with all the people eating inside. The whole experience is really seamless. I'm really awful at cooking so the Lauber is my new go to. And it's nice knowing my money is going toward a locally owned restaurant. read more

This place is casual and classy with good food and excellent service. I recommend the Southern Cobb salad. So, my husband and I have had a busy day and a 5 1/2 hour drive. We called to be sure this place was opene because Google said closed and Yelp said open til 9. Said we would be there at 8:35. I've had my eye on this place now for a while due to being a pizza lover. Even though the Michiana area has an abundance of pizza establishments there are only a dearth of brick/wood fired pizza establishments unless you're closer to Goshen. So, when I skimmed the Lauber's menu not only did their style of pizzas interest me but also the vibe, and other menu options as well. The Lauber featured themselves as a hip contemporary, themed restarant, specializing in oven fire styled pizzas, beers, burgers, etc with a fresher semi-healthier spin. So, I like healthy, I like pizza, and combining both prompted me into wanting to check this place out. When I finally made my way around to visiting the Lauber there was a little confusion upon entry. For starters The Lauber is right next to a liquor store, and I got the liquors store's parking lot misconstrued with The Lauber's. Which would've been a huge mistake since I did not what my car to get towed. Also, patrons must enter from the back instead of the front entry and navigate around tables of people on the patio on their way to the door, which is somewhat different. Yet on the positive note, as I was doing so, I noticed that the Lauber's patio is right across from Marci's which is cool if you want to grab some pastries to take home afterwards. After I made it inside, I noticed and took a liking to the chic, metal, industrial theme. The seating arrangements were fairly spaced, and the industrial contemporary theme is definitely aimed for the millennial, gen-Z'er crowd. This restaurant being more ideal for adults rather than families with small children (unless dinning on the patio). Surprisingly before I ordered I did not overly inspect the menu, since I knew what I wanted prior. Yet, I did notice that the Lauber offers more pasta dishes than what I thought which was surprising. I ordered the 16" pick-6 pizza, and the tin can nachos for an appetizer, my friend who is vegan ordered the Lauber Burger (substituted with a veggie patty), and also the tin can nachos substituted with hummus. When our food came out, I was pleased with the presentation. Then when I took my first bite my thoughts were mixed. Overall, the nachos were good, decent... in that they were very flavorful, and I could distinguish all of the ingredients. Yet what was intriguing rather than a complaint is that.....when one thinks of nachos, I (like most) envision, goopy, cheesy ooziness, of a mess over my hands, saturating my mouth. I also think of carbs, meatiness, an overabundance of dairy and much that's unhealthy. Quite the contrary here....the Lauber's tin can nachos tasted healthy and were very light, without filling me up? This is not a bad thing, but also not to be expected either. I can't rate the hummus version, but my friend gave it two thumbs up. As far as the entrée's there were definitely no complaints, all of the flavors came together well on my pizza but was more filling than expected. Yet like the nachos had a very healthy taste, and flavor. My friend devoured her burger, and her meal looked pretty hearty and sizeable for a vegan meal. I do plan on heading back to try more of the Lauber's menu options, and though I am not vegan, after seeing my friend's burger I may even order what she had. I definitely like the Lauber's lighter and hipper take on typical dishes, and as a place to hang out. read more

This was my third time at the Lauber and probably my favorite visit to date. We started with the tin can nachos and cauliflower & curds. The nachos were gone so fast I couldn't even get a photo, if you're going to get an app I highly recommend those. The cauliflower curds were pretty good as well, some a bit to salty for my liking, but still solid. The blueberry BBQ pizza though, was literally what dreams are made of... the sauce was quite sweet (which I loved) and that combo with the melty cheesy goodness and pulled lord was a combination that did not disappoint. My favorite part though may have been the last few bites of each slice when there was still a bit of sauce on the crust. The experience here was pretty good with friendly staff and small wait time even with a local Notre Dame home game. Outstanding! We started off with the cauliflower and curds appetizer, which was delicious. The Buffalo sauce was just right and not too hot. Dad, who has become quite picky of late, had the Prime Melt, and loved it! The meat was juicy and the gardineira just right. The food at The Lauber is wonderful. We enjoy eating at this fine restaurant.. On a busy evening (wait time for a table 30-60 min) we chose to place a take out order rather than wait for a table. We were notified on our phone that our food was ready. We waited, and waited, and waited. My husband asked Ryan, the manager, why we were notified by phone that our food order was ready, yet it had been more than ten minutes with no food anywhere. Ryan's response was to turn to the kitchen staff and shout "I have an angry customer who wants his food now." Then he looked at my husband and said "See, it makes no difference." Ryan never apologized or tried to explain why there was such a discrepancy between the phone notification and the actual arrival of our food. Although the food is delicious at The Lauber, I will not be returning. I suggest that Ryan receives training on how to deal with customers effectively. read more

Our visit started off a bit rocky, the staff at first definitely did not go out of their way to make us feel welcome, however they were busy...I waited tables for years all through college and part of HS and I can say no matter how busy I was at the better restaurants we were trained to greet our customers with a smile and let them know we would be with them shortly, etc. Our server was ok, but nothing out standing we had to ask for things multiple times. The Chicken and Dumpling soup was wonderful! The French Dip was good, and my daughter liked her pasta. Offering plenty of choices to sit and enjoy regardless of the weather Lauber is a welcoming location to sit and eat. Deciding to eat here after many recommendations from others I decide to give it a try. When I first walked in, I had the opportunity to sit where I would like I chose the bar top for this event. The menu is extensive and known for a few items that they have highlighted on the menu. What I decided to choose and eat was the Mac and Cheese Grilled Cheese with Buffalo Chicken (MACC) with a side of Elote Slaw. When it was almost time to eat silverware was brought out it was full of water stains. Yes, I know that they are safe and clean it is still off-putting and sets a bad impression from the start. When the food did come out, I was expecting a grilled cheese with mac and cheese inside. The bread did not have slices of cheese or even more cheese the only thing was coming from the noodles. The Chicken was flavorful but that was the only thing. The MACC was bland, and the cheese had no flavor I would have rather had some that came from a box. The Elote Slaw was not good at all it lacked flavor and the cabbage was very tough and chewy. The side ranch had more flavor and taste than the Elote Slaw.
