This is the cutest place for miles and miles. It doesn't get any better until you hit Ann Arbor or the Petoskey area for real honest food. I see them grow their own tomatoes in the summer behind the restaurant, the baked goods are homemade or from their bakery "Crust" and all the food, breakfast, lunch or dinner seems to be made from scratch. The staff is friendly and service is always good. The dining tables are delightful they are salvaged right out of the late 50-60's american modern with multiple color tops, in fact they have the yellow table my family grew up with in the 1960's. I always stop either on my trip up north or coming back. The coffee is great and they do take out- pronto. Worth the few miles drive off 23. Will keep going back. read more

Bartenders are always attentive, despite always being busy. Their seasonal drinks are top notch and never fail to impress. The other half loved his pancakes and I really enjoyed my Taylor pork roll sandwich! Where else outside of New Jersey can you get an authentic pork roll sandwich??? What a cute spot. I drove 45 minutes to come try this place. It almost has a "zingermans" vibe with some of the posters and art work. Also, some of the sandwiches are word for word the same as zingermans... I don't mind because their prices are less and the portions are very generous! Waited about 15 minutes for a table on Saturday prime time 12pm. They had a girl standing at a table passing out fresh bread and sea salt butter samples in the waiting area. Once we got sat, we looked over the menu and decided. My wife and our friend got breakfast; they shared the "Elvis pancakes" which had peanut butter and bananas inside, they were terrific. My wife had gotten the eggs bene on English muffin bread and that was very good. Our friend got a breakfast skillet of some kind, she seemed to enjoy it. I had gotten the chicken salad sandwich on challah bread.. It had bacon, lettuce, tomato, Swiss. I also got a side of their potato salad. I enjoyed the sandwich, it was huge and I could only eat half of it. The potato salad wasn't bad, but it lacked flavor, I had to add a lot of salt and pepper to get it down. Our server was nice and friendly, however she did try to take our order without writing it down (I hate when servers do this) they always forget something or mess up. So I insisted she write our orders out because we are all particular. I think if management reads this, you should make it mandatory that every server write every order on a ticket. It gives the server some insurance and something to refer back to incase something goes wrong. My silverware was dirty, my water glass had lipstick on it, so for that I left this place a 4 out of 5 stars. Went there today and I see they are charging 3% for using a credit card. A meal at this place for two with drinks can be pricey. I can't speak for everyone but I don't carry large sums of cash on me all the time. So if I don't have the cash I get a 3% charge plus I still want to leave a tip for my server. Most of the time the service is excellent so I leave a 20% tip. Now I have to lay down 23%. I hate to say it but that 3% is probably going to come out of the tip. I'm sorry staff. What are the owners doing with this 3% they are now making extra? Did they increase their employees pay? Reduce the price of their product? Give it to charity? Maybe they kept it because they were not making enough. I feel bad for the folks that live on credit. We've been here a hundred times. We're super club members. This place has been our favorite in the area since they opened. Today was the most embarrassing and uncomfortable visit ever. We took friends of ours there for a quick lunch before heading back to Chicago. They remembered visiting last time and loved it. We checked on Yelp and it said they're open until 10pm today. When we got there it said they were closing at 4:00, it was 3:45. We asked the waitress if it was too late, she said no and sat us. My husband used the bathroom and heard them saying, "4 at table 15. Are you F#*king Kidding Me?" Our waiter was rude as he rushed us thru our meal. I asked for a cocktail and he said, "We don't have that." and never again asked me if I'd like something else. He practically threw plates at us and never smiled. He was clearly irritated and wanted to let us know. The general manager (Jeremy something) sat in the corner at the bar staring at us. He walked by and stared the whole time. There were a couple other customers eating outside that they didn't seem to be as rude to. We won't be returning anytime soon. Our Chicago guests were disappointed and we were embarrassed. So, you guys succeeded. We were uncomfortable & embarrassed and will never come back that close to closing. If it was too late, you should've told your waitress to let us know before we sat down. We'd have gladly left instead of being treated poorly. Came here with my family on Saturday night. This place does get busy so I recommend coming in at 5 pm or it will fill up pretty quick on the weekend! I had the steak salad and it was very good! It was cooked to medium! My sister is vegetarian and gluten free and she had two of the appetizers. She enjoyed them both. I always hear great things about this place but living in Canton it's a bit of a drive so we have never tried it until today. We were at the National Veterans Cemetery and decided to stop in for breakfast. The food was by far the best breakfast food we have ever had. From the perfect over easy eggs to the homemade biscuits that are off the hook and the salted caramel latte was to die for. Our server could not have been nicer. If ever in the area we would come back. This place deserves a 5 star review but the 3% we were charged for a credit card we didn't use made it a 4 Star. I absolutely loved this place! We drove 45 minutes just to try this place for brunch and everything was delicious. I ordered the eggs benedict, which was one of my favorite benedicts I have ever had. The egg was cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was to die for. The fat Elvis pancakes were out of this world...peanut butter with bananas on every layer, how could you go wrong? The portions are ginormous!! And considering the portion size, the prices are cheap. They are supposedly known for their bloody Mary's but I wasn't a fan of it. The garnishes that come along with the Bloody Mary are cute...salami, cheese, pickle and an olive. There seems to always be a line, but the restaurant is big and the line moved very quickly while we were waiting. When we got there, there were about 15 people waiting and we sat down in 15 minutes. Wonderful craft cocktails but you don't get a price break for ordering a bottle of wine over buying just by the glass. Nice but small selection of Michigan beers on draft. They had a something for everyone at the bar. Even fresh fruit muddled soda for the pregnant gal in our party. I was super excited to see patrons enjoying mussels, while we waited for a table. Delight turned to squeals when we found 'Crust' - take out side of the restaurant. Very similar to Zingerman's bakery but more... how do you say... French! My husband and I order a nice selection of pastries and signature Gorgonzola spread for our Sunday breakfast tray. As for dinner, the mussels were large, tender and perfectly cooked but the broth was disappointing. The menu boasted a curry coconut cream but it fell seriously short. Just white water. No flavor but hint of coconut. No cream, no curry. Also ordered cheese for four to start. That plate was fabulous. It would have been much better if the waitress would have explained which cheeses were which but we enjoyed most of it anyway. Those not so adventurous didn't enjoy it as much. My husband had the meatloaf. It was a large portion, with mash potatoes and fried onions. He really enjoyed it. Thankfully we took home half of it for leftovers. The rest of us had the loaded potato soup, french onion soup, and small salads. The salads are great for the $4 each. Potato soup had a heavy flour roux but it was good. Everything was good at this point, as I was 2 glasses in to a bottle of NZ Sauv Blanc. We left happy and it was great food. Mussel broth could have been better. Waitress could have been better and it was really loud in there, but we will definitely be back when in the area. read more

I heart The Laundry. I've been here several times, and have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere, drinks, and desserts. Their bread and (some) desserts come from an excellent local bakery, Crust. Their menu has a lot of seasonal produce and creative combinations. They also have a huge cocktail menu. I tried a few different cocktails and they were quite good - not too sweet, strong, and big ice cubes. Mama like. Because I enjoy The Laundry, on a recent visit I signed up for their Supper Club. The Club is a reward system for frequent visitors with some perks for special days, i.e. birthday, anniversary. I'm looking forward to racking up some points. read more

Put all the pieces together, and it works well: a large, airy, well-lit dining space, with a casual feel, chalkboard draught-beer menu on the wall with a short list of excellent Michigan craft brews, a good-looking bar, and fine service. Most impressive: consistently excellent food for a group of six. I tasted and loved: *my Bacon-Wrapped Meatloaf (savory beef and pork meatloaf wrapped in applewood-smoked bacon with smashed horseradish redskin potatoes, brown gravy and crispy fried onions), *my Mom's Crispy Chicken Under a Brick (citrus-brined half chicken, seared under a brick in a cast iron skillet and topped with a lemon and thyme pan jus. Served with Boursin mashed potatoes and braised kale), *my sister-in-law's Pork Tenderloin Porchetta (seasoned with fennel, sage and rosemary, then wrapped in Duroc pork belly and roasted to perfection. Topped with an apple cider and stone-ground mustard jus and served with bourbon-butter sweet potatoes and sautéed Brussels sprouts). I've got to say that I love this restaurant! They've got the best sandwiches. I've been coming here since 2000. The restaurant's gone through many changes and keeps getting better. I got Michelle's Mellow Drama, which has been a favorite of mine for a long time. The turkey is so delicious with the spicy mustard. My husband got the BLT special in Cherry walnut bread. The bacon they serve is so good. It's chewy and not too crispy. They also have a fear beer and wine selection. It's definitely a place to eat if you visit Fenton! read more

Obviously it's not a Thai restaurant but the drunken noodles I had were okay..they definitely were different from normal drunken noodles and they lacked the authentic flavor. But the beet poke appetizer was very interesting and flavorful. The wasabi sauce blend and chips were my favorite part of it though! My date got the holey mole burger and it was very big and very juicy. It also came with a huge pickle and delicious kettle chips! Oh, and before you get your food they give you amazing bread! I'm pretty sure its house made!! The interior is very nice. Not too casual and not too fancy. The perfect blend. Now, this restaurant is very pricey. Confused how these reviews are so good. Went here on a Friday night. The service was so painfully slow and it was not busy at all. The food I admit was decent, but the service killed it all. I ordered a drink and it was okay if I wanted to just drink fruit juice. My companion was not pleased with his steak at all. My chicken was great...but again, the service was so slow it killed any positivity that could have been there for the evening. Well, The French Laundry this is not. It's not even Michigan's version of the much more famous west coast eatery. I don't know why they would choose the same name as such a renowned place (hoping it's just a weird coincidence), but I digress... The cheese course was great. It was, by far, the largest cheese course I've ever been served. The cheeses were nice and varied. I give it two thumbs up. I was disappointed that we arrived just before 5 to find out they stop serving their lunch menu at 4. There was a lot of fantastic sounding sandwiches and, in reality, the reason I trekked all the way out to Fenton for a meal is because my husband loves a good sandwich and this place had plenty of options for vegetarian sandwiches (I'm veg, he's not). So that was a major disappointment. Husband had the french onion soup, which he said was great. I can definitely report that it looked great. Big portion, tons of baked cheesy goodness on top. I went with the frito pie for my meal (vegetarian chili served on top of vegetarian chili. The presentation was novel, but kind of gross (frito bag ripped open, chili poured on top), the flavor was bland (bland chili? seriously?) and the beans were a bit undercooked. I didn't eat a quarter of it and I didn't take it home either. Not a hit. Husband had the bacon wrapped meatloaf. He said it was bland. I took a bit of his horseradish potatoes and was surprised they didn't have more kick. If we go back, it'll be for lunch. The place was certainly cute. They seemed to have a nice menu of interesting sounding cocktails. No idea how the drink prices are, though, I had the french press coffee. read more

My wife and I hear good things about The Laundry, so we tried it on 7/7/2018. We were pleasantly surprised by the experience. Located in downtown Fenton in a former laundromat (hence their name "The Laundry"), this is an unpretentious restaurant with excellent food. We each started with a mixed drink from their extensive drink menu. Their "Bonnie & Clyde" is an excellent coffee-bourbon-cream mix, the "Needles & Pins" is a fruity summertime drink. We enjoyed two interesting appetizers (chorizo-filled pretzel bites and pork-belly gnocchi) and shared their Fried Green Tomato Burger, which was inventive and delicious. Hearing good things about their bakery, we tried their Chocolate-Peanut Butter Bliss cake (excellent, very rich) and took home a piece of their Pie of the Month (blueberry-apple-strawberry). Both were excellent. The service was top-notch and their prices are reasonable. We will go there again! read more

I've been to The Laundry quite a few times as it is probably the best place to eat in Genesee County. I've learned one very important rule after many years of visiting, and that rule is: ONLY GO FOR LUNCH. The sandwiches are just huge. I've loved EVERY one I've had, and I've had too many to name. From the french dip, to chicks dig skinny pale guys, brothers brennan (a favorite), tiffany fweef, the fluffernutter, etc. ALL are excellent and absolutely humongous, so plan to take home half. I also love their salads, such as the bohemian breeze. So so good when the strawberries are fresh. Also huge for the price. This isn't to say breakfast and dinner aren't ok, I just don't think they measure up to the lunch price:quality ratio. Not even close. I wasn't impressed with either and dinner specifically was very pricey for what we got. I got a croque madam for breakfast and just thought it could have been so much better, especially since I've had the croque monsieur for lunch and it was huge and delicious. Drinks are also outrageous. I had a small cocktail, maybe 4oz of liquid, mostly coffee, and it was $12....it was delicious but I couldn't bring myself to get a second. To sum it up, go for lunch and you won't be disappointed! read more

Being generous with 3 stars but I really, really, really want to like this place. Used to eat here a few years back and it seemed better. This is my second visit in the year and I just can't figure out the cuisine....I think they use the 'dart board' method....throw 3 darts at a dart board with all types of food, flavors, cooking methods and you prepare food from those darts. Yes, they have some fabulous things on the menu but as someone who preps 90% of my meals at home, using some fantastic recipes, I just find the flavor combos a little to hard to take. Had a skillet today and the cornbread was nearly flavorless, the sausage patties were overcooked and dry. Others had the waffles with strawberries and balsamic....however, they just poured the balsamic OVER the strawberries, instead of macerating them. So all you get is the zing and nothing else. All i want for my $20 brunch is a good tasting meal....more comfort food than whatever they are preparing here. I was hyped up to try The Laundry, which is generally a bad mindset when trying a new place. Despite the lovely space and amazing scents, The Laundry did fall short of expectations and standards. Baby Brie Skillet My favorite item from those I ordered. I'd suggest splitting this between 3-4 people, but it's very light on the palate and could be shared between 2. Loved the pickles and pears and would have liked slightly more. The honey drizzle was the perfect amount. The prosciutto tasted good, but was the least exciting element of this dish because it was almost jerky-tough. The arugula was nice to munch on, but was very annoying to eat--I'd have preferred it on the side. Pastrami-crusted Duck Breast A huuuge disappointment... the medium-cooked duck tasted amazing, was juicy and tender, but had an awful, under-rendered strip of fatty skin. I had to separate and discard it because it was as chewy as gum. The chutney and cabbage complimented the meat well and provided a good amount of acid. Pastrami, like the prosciutto from the cheese, could have been removed. The pierogies were terrible: understuffed with overly thick/chewy skin. Mushroom Sugo I had high hopes for this dish with its vibrant reddish sauce, but it was disappointingly bland. This was surprising as the previous items had a satisfactory balance of flavors--maybe The Laundry is just better at sweet accents? The mushroom selection was underwhelming and dominated by portabellas with what might have been pin-sized shimejis (too small to identify). The scallions were whole and impossible to eat with a soup spoon (ended up using the knife for the duck). With the texture and taste of plain porridge, it's a good dish if you're sick or have stomach upset, but not worth eating otherwise. Bug Bar (seasonal) + Ice Cream The cinnamon ice cream was delicious. It's my first time tasting something from Uncle Ray's Dairyland and it lived up to its rep. I can't say the same for the pumpkin brownie. It was light and cake-light with a very mild pumpkin flavor. What killed it (in a bad way) were the chocolate chips which covered the taste of the pumpkin. The Bar was drying and sweet and was only made more palatable by pairing each bite with a swipe of icecream. Plan to share among 4 people and wish for more ice cream accompaniment. Ok food, but I won't be ordering from the entrees or dessert again as they are not worth the price point. Maybe the sandwiches are better. I do love their bread. read more

Awwww....this is my mom's favorite restaurant. Usually when I'm visiting friends & family in Michigan, I miss good restaurants like the ones I'm used to in Chicago. Well in this case, I wish Chicago had a restaurant like The French Laundry (maybe I just haven't found it yet). It is adorable with a huge menu, quality ingredients, and (obviously) a European feel. We ordered sandwiches to go but while we waited I browsed the offerings. Pies that looked perfect, the thickest quiche I've ever seen and gourmet salsa that's made in Michigan...and tastes good? It's a cool looking place with a wall of windows facing a porch, and a fully stocked bar. I really don't want to leave a good review because this place is always on the jam and that just makes it harder for us to get in. But the food, drinks, vibe and staff are phenomenal. Very elevated American cuisine. Lotsa flavors. I've had The Buddha Bowl, and most recently The St Laurent - Montreal sandwich. Both were excellent. But the sandwich was straight up "stupid" good. The rye bread is/was from the local bakery, 'Crust.' And they're also on another level. It tends to be a little loud in the bar area, which is where we prefer. And service can be slower than some places. But again. This place is busy! Plus they specialize in craft cocktails which appear very popular. And those take time. I went here during restaurant week (this is a late post), and I had gotten one of the salads on the menu that was soooooo good with strawberries and seeds and other deliciousness on it.....yet I can't find it on the menu to recommend it. The Laundry - New American Near Me - Fenton, Michigan

So I've been avoiding going here because...well everyone goes here. Everyone loves the food..everyone raves about it. I figured everyone was full of it..but we caved and went. ANNNNNND everyone is right it was AMAZING! we went for breakfast and I just cannot say enough good things about out meals. If I HAD to complain about anything the bloody Mary was a bit spicy cannot wait to go back for lunch one day and then maybe dinner since they seem to be open all day. I should add me also tried the potato pancake with beef medallion but we literally ate it so fast we didn't get a pic. read more
