Just passing through Houghton for a one night stay. Found this restaurant for a late Sunday night dinner. Thrilled they served full menu till 10 pm. Food was excellent! We had crab cakes and the salmon salad. Friendly quality service as well. read more

The wait for food once we ordered was over an hour! Hardly anyone was there! ( fewer than 20). It was lunch! The waiter offered no explanations, excuses, updates or apologies. Is this situation normal? Definitely avoid the place for dinner because an hour can drag on to even longer when there are more than 20 people. I've gone to the Library several times in my life in hopes that they will prove me wrong about the quality of the restaurant. Every time I leave feeling the same way-frustrated and angry. Slow, poor service and small portions for the price of the food. There's no other way to describe it. My sister and I once waited 10 minutes at the "please wait to be seated sign" before anyone even acknowledged we were standing there. Expect to wait for you food for a long time whether they are busy or not. The only thing worth going there for is the ahi tuna. Don't even think about going for "sushi Tuesday" because you will be extremely disappointed. read more

I haven't been to The Library in almost 12 years. My mom and I decided to treat ourselves and spend our limited time together (I no longer live in the area) eating out at this establishment. This is a big deal for us as we rarely go past Festival Foods. The food was delicious, the service minimal at best, and the BEST part: no free refills!! Our waiter didn't even ask if we wanted more pop, yet refilled our glasses while they were still half full then charged us $5 for 2 drinks a piece. $10 in pop!?! Next time save yourself the money, order water, and use your $10 to buy a couple cases. read more

The Library has so much potential, but it fails. The food is pretty good, the beer is good, the place is usually clean (except for the bathrooms- gross!) but the service is awful! We've gone there many times, each time I keep hoping that it will be better, and we leave pissed off because the servers are so bad. read more

This might be the best mid-range restaurant in the Keweenaw. It's been around since the late 1960s, but it's changed and grown from a dark warren of small rooms and booths to open and light-filled. There's also a great view of the Portage Canal, Hancock, and Mont Ripley on the opposite side. The burgers are very good (I love the cabernet burger -- mushrooms soaked in wine!). The reuben is above average, too. The house beers are quite good, too -- you can't go wrong with the stout. read more

I would HIGHLY recommend that you go to McDonalds over this "restaurant". The service was decent but the time it took for me and my family's food to come to the table, is astonishing. I think this restaurant could be in a world record book for slowest time for food to arrive at your table. It took about and hour for our food to arrive, but when they arrived with food, the waitress said that she still had to get mine, and it was like another 5 minutes. The food is mediocre and the prices are ridiculous for the food. The only thing that I liked was the free Wi-Fi. read more

This was one of the worst dining experiences my family has ever had! We should've walked away when they told us they had ran out of children's menus. We asked after we were seated about the children's menus and another waiter told us he'll get one for us. Then when our waitress came she said they didn't have any and so I had to ask what was on the children's menu. We all ordered...and 20 minutes later our salads came but they're out of blue cheese dressing...then our food came and they didn't have the soup that was ordered they were making more. We ordered a fish dinner and got a fish sandwich, hamburger with the works got a burger cheese and bun. Truffle fries but got regular instead. Harvest salad w/out meat...they put chicken on it not what we ordered. Only 1 our of 7 of us actually got exactly what we ordered. So many mistakes and such poor service and very sub average food.
