This is our family's favorite downtown spot for years. We heard there was a change of ownership, but the food was still delicious. The inside was dark and intimate, perfect for a date night. Service was quick and friendly too! Definitely try all of their more gamey meats! They are delicious!

Went for their HH, because why not. ;) $10 cocktails is a pretty great deal. But from their regular drink menu, they have a new clarified cocktail (taco punch) - of which I'm a big fan! Beef cheek tacos were pretty tasty. The meat was really tender, and it came with 4 tacos. Wagyu fat fries weren't bad either. Skip the duck wings, it was very salty imo. Decor and vibes are always on point! They have neighborhood street parking ($2.50 per hour) nearby, which is a plus for downtown.

Yo, the vibe in this place is off the charts from that game Head on the wall to the dark lighting to the leather seating to the intimate setting. It is a complete vibe and it's quiet it's hidden and you really have to be seeking it out to enjoy this place. I encourage you to seek it out Happy hour is from 4 to 6 and they do have phenomenal choices. We ordered the Wagyu fries. The aïoli that is served with them. It's like a mustard aïoli is phenomenal. Definitely try that and that's all we had tonight. A mule which is not ginger beer but fresh ginger is always top of the list. This everyone from the servers to the bartender are top-notch.

This place was incredible It was advertised as an " exotic meats" place, that is only partially true. But! They did wild boar incredibly well. The bison steak was so so But both the corn drink, and The reverse cowboy were amazing. I will be coming back here on future San Diego trips.

Still the best spot for Happy Hour!! We met up with some friends for dinner. We arrived bit early to get some happy hour libations in before dinner. Loving the new items on the menu. Missed the fabulous fried chicken & caviar again, will definitely have to try again next time. Same great service, food (if wild game is your thing) & drinks. One of our favorite spots.

Four years later, was back with some coworkers and this place didn't disappoint! Glad to see they're doing so well! The food was absolutely delicious. Thank you! This time I got many things to share. The star of the meal was the BISON STEAK TARTARE. Easily one of my favourite places in downtown San Diego. I'm sure I'll be back!

Absolutely love the vibe and atmosphere! Happy hour menu is superb! Chicken caviar was delicious! Service was excellent we had a party of 15! Super busy Sunday afternoon, but the food was worth every penny!

Very cool place with an adventurous menu! Great craft cocktails and edgy decor make this place an excellent place to meet up with friends. All the staff were excellent, answering questions and giving suggestions. I tried the wild boar bolognese and it was delicious! I also had the pavlova dessert which had an excellent flavor profile! Would recommend grabbing a cocktail at the bar if you're in the area and want to try more original mixes!

Super eclectic spot, yes no other word could describe this better than eclectic. Maybe exotic? The food here is quite off the beaten path, boar, venison, elk, all to be expected. The menu can be pretty pricey and definitely a bit on the experimental side. I did not branch out too far, just going for steak frites. The fries were super crispy and perfect. The steak was cooked beautifully but honestly extremely tough. It was very hard to cut and chew. For the price and for this being wagyu, I was disappointed. I'm not sure what kind of cut they used, but it probably needed to be prepared differently than as a steak. The Bordelaise sauce was out of this world though. Scraped up every last drop of that with the fries. The cocktail selection is very cool with classics plus custom offerings. I don't think you can really go wrong. This is the type of place where the bartenders care about their craft. I enjoy trying drinks that are more creative like this, mixing ingredients not often seen together to create something truly inventive but still tasty. Definitely would come here again for drinks. Maybe check the food menu for something to your liking before coming for dinner.

Came to Lion's Share at 7:30 with an 8pm reservation and was seated early! Our drink orders were taken pretty quickly after being seated. After getting our drinks, my sister and I were ready to order, however, our server was almost no where to be found. We waited another 20 minutes before ordering our food, and while he was helping out other tables overlooking us, so that was a bit frustrating. Nonetheless, when we finally ordered we both got the Steak Frites with the sauce on the side. I asked for my steak cooked medium, and it was cooked to perfection! It was super tender, and it paired really well with the sauce! The fries were perfectly crispy, but they were too salty. I'd recommend asking for them to be lightly salted. Despite the initial slow service, we really enjoyed the food and drinks at Lion's Share. The music inside is extremely loud and there's a more casual bar area that makes the place super loud, so if you're looking for a quiet dinner, this definitely isn't your spot.

We went here for happy hour on a Saturday. We ordered the old fashioned and the federal buffalo stamp- which was similar to penicillin without the floater of Smokey whiskey. Both drinks were well made and a bargain at happy hour prices! Great and attentive bartenders as well. Highly recommend!

If you like unique food and even more unique vibes, this spot's a must. Dark, moody lighting, taxidermy on the walls -- it's giving adventurous and classy at the same time. Came for happy hour (great deal ) and tried the bison tartare -- perfectly balanced with capers, bone marrow, and Wagyu fat. So rich and umami. Then had the Wild Style Burger -- juicy Wagyu, boar bacon jam, shallots, and BBQ sauce with truffle fries + aioli. I'm not even a burger person, but I'd eat this again. Drinks were also well-balanced and creative. Perfect for pre-concert or date night vibes near The Rady Shell, Seaport Village, or Gaslamp. Bold flavors, cool atmosphere -- definitely coming back.

What kind of music is played on Friday and Saturday nights?

    Are kids allowed?

I wouldn't take kids after 8pm, but before that sure. Not really a kid place.

Yelp says indoor dining but open table says patio seating only. Anyone know if they're doing indoor dining yet?

yes, indoor dinning is available, went last week.

Do they have a full bar? Would like to go with my friend and she loves apple martinis

Yes! We have a full bar and we make all of our cocktails with fresh ingredients!

    Do they do take out?

You can call in your order. Then pick it up

How late do you serve food?

Our regular menu goes til 11pm. We have an abbreviated late night menu that we serve til 1am.

What time does your kitchen close on Thursday nights?

11pm for our regular menu. 1am for our late night. This is 7 days a week.

    Are there gluten-free options?

We’ve got quite a few options for food as it is on the menu as well as modifications our staff can recommend to make certain items gluten free. Cheers!

    Is there a rooftop bar?

Sort of. But I think it's only open for private events.

What time does the kitchen close?

    1 am

I'm not familiar with San Diego. Is this in the Gaslamp? And would these be an appropriate place for a party of 9 women to enjoy dinner before doing some bar hopping?

Great place for dinner. It's smaller so sitting all together may be tricky. It's not technically in GasLamp. This is in the Marina district. The bar hopping area is roughly a 10-15 min walk.

Hi, what is your corkage policy? Thank you

    $35 per bottle

I noticed that this is listed as "not good for kids" but is that because children are not allowed? I want to take my 17 YO out to dinner while we are visiting SD.

Children are allowed, but I would not recommend it. By child I would mean anyone under the age of 13. This really is an adult/date/intimate/vibrant spot - it's just not a spot you want to go and have a toddler of young child running around. I…

If I arrive at 4:30, am I restricted to a Happy Hour menu? I want the full menu.

    No

What are the closest streets with FREE parking? Thanks!

Parking is free after 6p everywhere. Otherwise try Pacific Hwy on the South bound side just north of embassy suites. Not much else besides that.

Such an interesting layout, but it works! We got to sit at a table right next to the waterfall and pond. Our server was very nice. Probably the only slip-up in service, was that our main came out when we had barely put a dent in apps. We were probably chatting and sipping on wine too much? The expo realized, kept the mains, and said take your time. Then he brought out mains when we were ready. Everything on the menu sounded amazing. My friend and I decided to both get the steak on the hot stone. It comes out raw and you have to keep track of time to cook it how you like it. You can choose flavored salts and butters and sauces for the side. We also shared the pickled strawberry salad. It had lots of toppings, flavor, and textures. The pozole verde was also excellent.

What really keeps me coming back are the seasonal transformations. They go all out with the decorations, and during Christmas the entire restaurant feels completely transformed. It's one of the best holiday dining experiences in San Diego. The seasonal touches don't stop at the décor either. I like that they regularly introduce limited-time food and cocktail specials, so there's usually something new to try while still keeping some of their popular favorites on the menu. Everything I've ordered over multiple visits has been well prepared, and I haven't had a bad meal yet. It's definitely on the pricier side, so I see it more as a place for celebrations, date nights, or when you want a unique dining experience rather than an everyday meal. Between the food, drinks, and the incredible decorations, it feels worth it for those occasions. One piece of advice: make a reservation. This place is popular, especially during the holidays and other seasonal events, and tables fill up quickly.

If you're not a regular, be careful, because apparently all it takes is one drunk friend of the staff making up a story to get you kicked out. While visiting San Diego with friends, we came here after hearing so many great things. There was a short wait, which was fine. The four of us were seated at a small standing table, also fine. Behind us were two guys drinking at the standing bar. One of them bumped into my friend and then stroked her arm while apologizing. She was visibly uncomfortable, so I told her to switch places with me. The guy immediately said, "We're gay, so you don't have to worry," then turned to his friend and said, "Now he looks so stupid and embarrassing." I told him, "I don't think it's embarrassing to make sure your friends are comfortable," then turned back around. I didn't argue with him, insult him, or continue the conversation. I thought that was the end of it. A few minutes later, the manager came over and told us we had made comments that made other patrons uncomfortable and asked us to leave. We had already paid for our drinks and were still waiting for them. My friend followed the manager to ask what was going on, and I joined shortly after. The person complaining was, of course, the same guy who had bumped into her. He was clearly drunk and started rambling about how we had made homophobic comments toward him and his friend. This was especially ridiculous considering the friend I switched places with was there with her girlfriend. We calmly explained exactly what happened. The manager did not care. There was no real attempt to hear our side, ask questions, or figure out what actually happened. The decision had clearly already been made. While we were speaking to the manager, the guy who complained was cheerfully talking with one of the bartenders, receiving a to-go meal, and greeting them cheek to cheek. He very obviously appeared to know the staff. So that seems to be how things work here: a drunk regular or friend of the staff can make up whatever story he wants, and management will throw out an entire group of paying customers without even pretending to investigate. They refunded the drinks, which was the bare minimum. The ambience was nice, but that means absolutely nothing when the staff handles customers this poorly. Awful management, blatant favoritism, and easily the worst service I have ever experienced. I would never come back, and I would strongly warn anyone who isn't already friends with the staff to stay away.

From the spooky, dark, skulls old school ambiance and decor, to the experience of not ordering from a menu, everything about it made it feel unique and curated making it feel like a true individualized experience. As mentioned, there are no menus. We sat at the bar, the bartender makes casual conversation with you regarding the types of drinks you enjoy. He curated something for both my husband and I based on what we shared we enjoyed. The drinks were delicious. The entry was very cool! It felt as if you were entering a hidden spot - which you do. When you enter the restaurant, you let the hostess know you're there for the Noble Experience. She let us know to head to the wall with the kegs (which is actually a door). You enter and there's a small waiting area where you're greeted by another hostess. This place is a 20/10. We can't wait to return on our next visit to SD.
