Not impressive. For 11.95 you get this and a drink.

Looks nice inside but the food and the price does not match. Very plain. You would expect more for 12 bucks and some change. Nothing is offered for a side . He said the burritos and tortas are pretty big so they don't offer any sides. Just a tortilla and eggs and bacon. Could have done this at home. Not worth the price . The picture looked like it had beans and Cora cheese and the torta looked nice to in the picture. It definitely not what you get.

The owners are soo sweet! The food was amazing. My husband and I had a bacon, egg, cheese, and avocado sandwich on ciabatta bread, sooo good. My son had a blueberry muffin. He was in heaven. We also got a spinach and cheese empanada because they were fresh out of the oven and couldn't resist! The bakery itself was adorable and felt inviting. We will be back!

Another stumbled upon spot while galavanting around downtown. Glad this bakery caught our eye. Seating area on the patio in front of the shop to enjoy the sunny day or inside tables along the wall to admire the history. From desserts and pastries to savory empanadas or pizza & pasta. Oh yes some bbq pork steamed buns and themed tiered cakes were a sight to see. They also have smaller sizes available in the display case when you're in need of a cake on the go, neatly packaged. It was a whirlwind of choices but I went straight to the plain cannoli. As we were ready to check out Amy and Luis (the owners) greeted us. Super friendly we felt right at home with the warm welcome. They've been running strong for 19 years at this establishment that has been here since 1895. They also had some empanadas. Couldn't pass up the opportunity we took home a sweet plantain & savory Japanese curry. Will be back to support this piece of history that is a home to passionate and talented individuals. Fun facts: Luis came from a family of bakers from Manila in the Philippines. Taking on the family tradition, he decided to start his own baking business. In 2006, Luis bought the business that has been running strong with the support of his wife Amy.

Best food in downtown upland would give more stars but it only allows 5 the tiramisu is soooooooo good and customer service is amazing :)

Went in looking for breakfast and was lucky to arrive just as the spinach empanadas were fresh out the oven. I was able to enjoy my delicious empanada while sitting at the patio to enjoy the sun. Definitely recommend 5

Stopped by on Thursday, 09/28/23 for the first time. Located in the heart of downtown Upland. If you would like to order a birthday cake and have it all customized to your liking then you would have to call in and preorder in advance. Unfortunately I wasn't aware however there were 2, already-made small lemon cakes with a 'Happy Birthday' tooth pick sign which I purchased or $15. I spoke to a lovely man who I believe is the owner. He asked if I wanted to try our their famous plantain pastries, guava pastries, and empanadas. I ordered 2 of each. I paid $37.20 total. My mom and I loved everything that we ordered and will definitely come back.

Sausage, avocado, and egg croissant and mojo-style potatoes meal with a cheese danish on the side

The Local Baker & Cafe in Upland serves delicious hot food and pastries. My dad and I ordered coffee and the day's special: a croissant sandwich with sausage, avocado, and eggs with mojo-style potatoes. I got a cheese danish to supplement my meal. The potatoes get cut thin but not too much that it feels crispy like snack chips. The thickness allows for an inner soft texture, which tastes lovely with ketchup. The way they cook their fresh potatoes inspired me to do it myself, but I feel much better buying from the restaurant. The whole meal tasted very good and filling. I also ordered takeout pastries, including croissants, cookies, and turon. I recommend coming here to support this stellar small business. Luis and Amy welcome every guest and work hard to create a great customer experience. They brighten the ambience, and I feel thankful to have friendly conversations with them when I come back to catch up. I recommend following the restaurant's social media sites (Facebook or Instagram) to get notified of any specials or newly released dishes and pastries.

Okay, this is literally the best brownie I've ever had. It's so fudgy and minty! Also, the Japanese curry empanadas are so good; they're my favorite item to get every time! Amy and Louis are the sweetest ever! Support your local bakery!

Cute little spot with a very sweet staff. Normally get the breakfast croissant and an empanada. The Japanese curry are my favorite.

Food: Prosciutto de Parma with pesto mayo is my go to. I even ask for them to today it because I like the miserable melted. I'll be honest and say I don't like cheese... Except the mozzarella they have here, it's exquisite. Secret ingredient is there pesto mayo. It elevated an already tasty sandwich to an incredibly delectable masterpiece with the prosciutto slightly toasted. Turkey Sandwich: hearty and so fresh. My husband loves this. Pick up hair pink sauce and some fresh pasta too! This place has so many options to try out! Chocolate chip cookie: do not leave this place without trying their cookie. But honestly? The food was so good, I had to leave a review. I ordered the chicken sandwich and the smothered fries, and both were absolutely amazing. What impressed me most was how well everything held up during delivery. Even after sitting for a bit, the sandwich was still crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. And the fries? Still delicious--cheesy, saucy, and totally crave-worthy. Not all comfort food travels well, but Egg N Bird nails it. It's not trying to reinvent the wheel--nothing overly fancy or overhyped--but the flavor combos are on point, and everything just hits the spot. I've been craving it ever since, which says a lot. Honestly, it's the kind of food you could eat fresh or as leftovers and still be just as happy. Highly recommend if you're looking for solid, feel-good comfort food that actually holds up on delivery. Will definitely be ordering again.

I don't know what is going on with Egg N Bird, but my visit this week was completely different…read moreexperience than my past visits. First off the menu is pretty much gone. There used to be 9 breakfast food options that are no longer available. There were 5 rice bowl options that have been reduced to 2, and the 5 sandwich options are now down to 3. I'm sure for operation costs, they've had to cut down and just sell their top sellers? That's what I'm assuming because why else would you eliminate 75% of your menu? I was hoping to get some of the breakfast options for my kids and a few of the rice bowls, but since breakfast was no longer available, and I didn't really have many rice options, I just picked up the Korean bowl. I came home and ate the bowl and it was awful. The chicken was so so dry, it honestly tasted like they had gotten a leftover piece and threw it in the fryer again to warm it up. I'm so sad because I loved this place so much. But, with such a limited menu (we mainly came because my kids enjoyed the breakfast menu) and the food being so bad now, I don't think I'll be back.
