Robert and Sheryl (previously of the Firehouse when it was at its best) use killer ingredients, innovation, and practiced technique to create superb fare. It costs a pretty penny, but the quality is there. The owners, obviously on a budget, won't compromise on that cuisine, so make do with a secondary location and kitschy decor. The wait staff is superb, which obliterates any negative connotation from the less than lavish surroundings. The Local is a wonderful new little breakfast spot off the beaten path in Prescott. Super friendly atmosphere, great selection of breakfast and lunch items and nice and clean interior. I really like that the portions are not overwhelming like at some breakfast places. They focus on flavor and the quality instead of piling a huge plate which I can never finish. Dad, Frank and I had breakfast at The Local yesterday. Just WOW! Smells great when you walk in. The bright colors and oodles of sunshine streaming through the front window make it feel like you are walking into a garden. And those CHAIRS, probably THE most comfortable things any of us have ever sat in---high praise from two folks with very bad backs. Dad had the flat cakes--very much like crepes and simply scrumptious; Frank had the Dutch Baby and gave it a BIG thumbs up. I had the out-of-this-world delicious Southwest Sunrise. Really enjoyed the way the ginger aoili, arugula, avocado, and tomatoes blended with the sunny side egg. I know we all though seriously about licking our plates. Stop by when you have a change. Came up from Phoenix for Father's Day weekend. We decided to try a new breakfast spot this time. I looked up a few reviews on yelp and this new restaurant showed up. My husband and I both got the local breakfast burrito. It came with pico de gallo, avacado and fresh fruit. My son, who is 6 got the kids pancake( fat ones) and he was humming with joy eating his deliciousness. The waitress came by and asked him how it was and he said " that was the sweetest pancake I've ever tasted!!!" He loved his meal as did we! Perfect portions and definitely fresh. The tortilla was light and flaky on our burritos the smashers and cheese inside were perfect. I could not ask for a better experience with fresh local foods prepared with care. The staff were all attentive and very nice. Decor is bright and welcoming.We will surely be back in October when back in Prescott. read more

Very good food. Very good service. We had the biscuit & gravy, the tamales and the chorizo tortilla. You can taste the superior ingredients. Each item was very fresh, creative and colorful, the pico de gallo was excellent! We didn't leave room for dessert but I have no doubt that it would have been quality as well. Unprepossessing local cafe with a small but wonderful menu. The tamale and egg breakfast is a good example, with a home made tamale with a dollop of sauce and a side of first rate fresh pico de gallo. Fluffy scrambled eggs and two strips of thick cut smoky bacon finish off a very satisfying breakfast. I was so impressed, I took along a Hammie Sammie with me for lunch! read more

Adorable Vibrant little hidden gem in Prescott. Their motto is 'Great Food...Naturally.' Which is what led us in on this chilly, almost snowy day. I had the breakfast pot pie with homemade veggie and sausage goodness. My two year old kept sticking her spoon on the pot pie and also enjoyed a few bites of her grilled cheese. The idea is great (healthily sourced food) but their entire vibe is that they are ANNOYED by your presence. We were told to hide our water bottles right when we were seated, but our baby's sippy cup "was allowed I guess." There are signs at each table saying "please be aware of people waiting" to get you leave quickly, notes stating they are not responsible for any mistakes with ordering, and the waitresses just act inconvenienced. The food is under par for the price, and the service solidifies that they haven't figured out how to deliver their mission. They do nothing to make you want to stay, or come back. I'm currently in this beautiful mountain town for thanksgiving, visiting my beautiful daughter and her family. We had a lovely (with a capital L) brunch here! Coffee and house-made baked goods are delicious. The menu has the breakfast staples, a few Mexican-style options like a breakfast burrito and delicious huevos rancheros, as well as some interesting and tasty pancakes. Plus a "breakfast pot pie" that sounds odd but was fresh tasting and filling comfort food. Nice, if sparse, dining room. Camping at White Spar and looked for a good breakfast spot on the way out of Prescott back to Phx. Food was amazing and service was excellent. Ordered sunrise dish with sweet and Yukon smashers. They make their own English muffins and cinnamon rolls. They also make their own mocha mix which was delicious. My server was Marissa and she was wonderful and personable. What qualifies someone or something as local? If you own a timeshare in Hawaii for 3 decades but you only go twice, are you a local? That's what the vibe here is. The owners or managers or whoever is in charge of creative direction really tries to hammer home the 2015 trendy Prescott mindset of "so fresh, so real, no gmo or gluten or dairy or anything of substance in our food, we promise!" Honestly, the food wasn't THAT bad, I was more upset of the tiny portions and the fact that my whole meal was cold...Today is Mother's day and the place was packed! How would my food possibly be cold? The fact that they don't use microwaves, heat lamps, blah blah blah. I had also asked for less crispy bacon since on the menu it's labeled as "crispy bacon", out came four strips of cold rock hard crispy bacon. I didn't bring any of this up the our waitress seeing as they all seemed so rushed and almost annoyed that we were there. The hostess also did not seem to understand wait times and proper flow of restaurant service because every time I, or any one else around asked how much longer it would be, the answer was, "Not much longer...". This place had such nice reviews and so many stars I thought it would be a perfect brunch spot for Mother's Day, apparently we weren't "local" enough. read more

My only criticism is the decor and tableware. If you don't mind sitting in a restaurant with ghastly bright colors, and plates designed for toddlers, it's worth suffering through it, because the food is great. read more
