Terrible experience the bouncer took my ID and said it was fake because he lacked the knowledge to know the updated ID looked like. I had to call the cops and the cops validated my ID and he even argued with the cops a little bit. He laughed at our faces and treated us as though we were nothing. I don't know if it was our age or gender but it was a terrible and anxiety ridden situation. Gotta brag on one of my favorite local places. We ordered take out right when they opened back up. Got both the steak and chicken tacos to mix and match. It came with a cilantro rice. The tacos were much better than I expected and I would definitely get them again. The meat has a good flavor and they were overflowing packed with deliciousness. Especially as we frequent this place when it is open! Their menu has a little bit of everything. But I will have to say... those buffalo chicken wontons.. what are you doing with your life if you don't get these?! They were amazing. Considering the recent, and continuing events in the city of Minneapolis regarding racial unjust, The Loop desperately needs to read the room. I am a long time Nolo local. I will never step foot it in or recommend the Loop to anyone. In fact I'm going to spread what happened last night to anyone I can. I was absolutely appalled at the behavior I witnessed from the bouncer working the front door at 10pm on 8/27/2021. The Loop's behavior needs correcting or "The Loop" will end up like "The Trend" that got permanently closed due to this exact scenario. Here's what happened: I was walking with my black boyfriend, headed to BLG, we passed The Loop, and the bouncer rudely interjecting our conversation by yelling over the line of people waiting to get in, "Are you coming here? You can't wear athletic shorts here." to my boyfriend. Absolutely appalled that this bouncer had the audacity to address my boyfriends attire when we were simply walking. * This is a modern day "NO BLACKS" sign in my most honest opinion, I highly suggest spending your money elsewhere such as BLG, The Rooftop, Parlour, NYE, Sonder&Shaker all of which had NO issue with my BF's attire. *I want to stress that I'm overtly disappointed in the owner who allows this and sees no issue, NOT the bouncer who simply is following the rules given to him. read more

Went here to watch the Vikings game and ended up getting a burger. The burger on the top of the list with a double patty, pork belly, egg, lettuce and special sauce. I can't eat dairy at the moment and so no cheese for me. I think there was butter on the bun even though I asked numerous times about butter and milk...thankfully I won't die. I am a big fan of The Loop in downtown Rochester and I was visiting this location for the first time to satisfy my craving for their special Chicken Avocado melt sandwich. The service is great and wait time isn't bad. On a Thursday evening, the restaurant was half occupied and an average wait time for food was 10-12 minutes. I've tried their pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and fish tacos and everything seemed to be perfect. The only thing that stands out in The Loop, Rochester is their chipotle aioli sauce which they serve on request. Here they didn't have that but offered garlic aioli which was okay. This is a review for when it turns into a night club in the evening and not the daytime restaurant: Terrible layout which makes it next to impossible to have any fun when you're just worried about being cramped and not spilling your drink, most of this bar is just a bottleneck of people trying to chill by the bar and people getting through, you're better off going to another bar to have fun. read more

They have bouncers patrolling the rest rooms to ensure that people use the rest room of the "correct" gender--according to the bouncers idea of "correct" I guess. On 5-6-2022 the womens rest room line was crowded. Mens was empty. My friend asked a guy coming out if there was anyone inside and it was empty, so she went into mens room (any girls out there ever used the mens room when the womens had a huge line?) The bouncer followed her and kicked her out of the bar for using the "incorrect" rest room. He wouldn't let her go back in the bar and find her group, so at midnight she had to stand outside and call until they heard their phones and answered. So if you're ok with rest rooms being gender-patrolled by bouncers, I guess this is the place for you. I will *never* go to this place or support it in anyway. read more

I followed my friends outside the building because they wanted to get some fresh air from the bar. As I was approaching the door, I was asked by the bouncer if I was "in" or "out" of the building. Over the loud music I responded "I am In, bro!" The bouncer came inside and immediately removed me from the building and said I was racist for calling him "bro". A black bouncer on the right back side of the bar was unnecessarily aggressive in directing us to leave at bar close. When I asked if he could be a bit more respectful in his directions he used derogatory language and yelled at us repeatedly to "get the f@ck out." There was no resistance or provocation involved other than the request for more respect, which we and any other person would be deserving of. I'm not one to typically complain but this situation was very upsetting and left myself and my friends in tears. Extremely disappointing place if you're looking for vegan options, or if you're allergic to dairy. The quinoa veggie burger can't be made w/o cheese because parmesan is incorporated into the dough/batter mixture. The sweet potato fries are prepared with "crispy pork belly." The kung pao tofu's peanut sauce has dairy in it. This is what I ended up ordering (w/o the sauce) and it basically ended up being a plate of plain rice, tofu, and broccoli for $16. If you're vegan and find yourself here, I'd recommend ordering a salad with alterations/substitutions. That's what I would have done in hindsight. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. I would probably go back here for happy hour drinks, but I definitely won't be going back for food. read more

*This review is only of their nightlife, not their dining experience. I've been here several times over the years on the weekends and my experiences have been fairly consistent. It's a great place to hear some good music with a DJ (Saturdays especially) and even better that there is not a cover. This is definitely a younger crowd (21-30), but leans a little bit closer towards people in their upper 20's. A typical drink will cost you anywhere between $6-10. The bartenders do a nice job (quick & consistent), but I think it may be worth having another bartender on the weekends to help with the wait time. There have always been some steady cons that somewhat offset the great music. The first is that there is always a long line anytime after 10:30 pm. I don't think it's ever taken me less than 20 minutes to get inside. This can get especially frustrating considering they allow groups to pay to jump the line ($10/girl and $20/guy), which extends the length of time everyone else stands in line. The second con is that the bar takes up a large amount of room inside. This causes some crowding in the walkways and it's challenging to navigate without any drinks being spilled. read more

Our first visit to The Loop was not even a weekend ago and my husband already wants to go back. Their biggest seller for us were the fresh mini donuts and french toast bake. We've been to quite a few different brunch places in the area and this is the first time we had this. The other food was good too, just couldn't really compete with those donuts! I will say the service started off slow. It's self-seated, which is fine, but we didn't have anyone check in for a few minutes. It was really quiet (hardly anyone there) so that didn't sit well with us. After a while, the server warmed up and was more attentive, but a rocky start. Plus, the food was not ready to go until about 30 minutes after opening. It's good and we'll probably be back for those donuts, but not in any hurry. read more

I don't like tomato juice but recently I have been craving for a bloody mary. So hidee ho I'm at The Loop and I ordered one. And oh my goodness it was so good. So good that I am still thinking about it after a week. The drink came with a pickle, a celery stick, a cheese cube, and a green olive on a stick. I also recommend my favorite grilled flank steak salad. Don't be fooled by the word "salad" because there's so much meat and potatoes. Also, don't attempt to lick the balsamic vinaigrette off your plate either. Just saying. Second recommendation is their fried chicken burger + sweet potatoes fries + aioli sauce = yum. read more

The Loop has a reputation for being packed at night with lots of drunk young people. Perfect if you are young and drunk. It is one of those places that is a restaurant until about 8:30pm on Friday night when they clear the tables to pack in as many drunk folks as they can. I know for a fact that they have good late night bouncers/security. Last weekend we stopped by - there was a short line and a small crowd of people in front either smoking or waiting to go in. We were standing outside debating whether or not we want to smush thru the crowd to get to the bar. Then all of sudden bang, I just heard a gun shot, and then someone smacked my ass. As I turned around I saw a couple people ducking for cover and a drunk dude running down the street. Took me a second to realize what happened but some drunk wanker who got kicked out whipped a rock at the window and it ricocheted off and hit me in the ass. The bouncers were on him like a pack of hyenas. I felt safe. They chased him a block and a half down the street as he made a very drunkenly zig zag attempt to get away. Great bar. The food is very good, don't overlook it! I went for the first time with coworkers. We took advantage of the happy hour, which I'd say is solid for drinks and quite good for food. The drinks are solid. They have something for everyone with a decent selection of beers. Where this places excels is the food. They offer good variety, and almost everything I've tried is quality. Another plus with the food is it comes out quickly. Food tips: -order off the main menu (vs happy hour menu). The best tasting options I've had so far have generally come from main menu. -recommended: buffalo chicken wontons, steak lettuce wraps, totchos (nachos in tot form). I've heard the salmon bowl is good Staff is awesome. Tip them well! One other note: I went back ona Friday night. Just as our server said would happen the place got pretty clubby around 9/10pm.
