Went out for a night of dancing with my friend. We order our drinks mine being a Heineken 0.0. I noticed right away that I did not get a 0.0 and told the bartender who was a blonde male with a mustache. He rudely asked who served it which happened to be him. I told him it was him he gave me a dirty look and slammed the beer in the garbage. He came back with a 0.0 and threw it wards me! It's absolutely disgusting how rude he was about it. He needs an attitude adjustment! Just because someone doesn't get an alcoholic drink doesn't mean to treat them poorly! Train your employees to have respect! After moving to MPLS, I've been yearning for a place that can actually play the jams that I can actually dance to. The Loop definitely has a decent DJ who got the tracks to satisfy my needs. I'm not sure if I got this right, but I think "Brownie" was the man behind the turntable last night. His beats drew me and my crew to the Loop while we were in search of a good bar around the area. For the majority of the night, I'd say that he's pretty legit. He had me at Dre's Next Episode for sure, but I don't know what the hell's up with all the pop hits he was spinning up in the joint since that killed my mojo like no other (Britney Spears?? Really??). It's alright, Brownie. As long as you played Dre, I'll forgive your minor mischiefs. I'll even forgive you for the fact that you didn't even play my jam even after my multiple requests. Next time, make sure you get your acts together and get it right otherwise I'll take that other star off for sure. read more

Love the atmosphere! We were their for a game. My complaint was that they didn't tell us any specials. We figured theire weren't any, ordered our apps, and when we got the bill and found out how cheap it was wish we had ordered more! Half of our group got the brunch buffet . . . only $14.99 for all you can eat, and there were lots of choices! The other half split the chicken nachos and we were totally happy, although if we would have paid the asking price of $12,99, then are maybe a little pricey for the quantity. We will try it again. We went on a Sunday morning during March Madness and the place was packed! Great atmosphere with plenty of TVs around and seating both at the bar, in comfortable booths and tables. I had the brunch buffet which was, how do I put this without sounding too sentimental, but wow this was a fantastic brunch. I was a little embarrassed with how often I went back up with a new plate. For $14.99 I ate probably an entire weekends worth of food...that's a win in my book. Choice of a couple egg dishes, French toast bake (give me some now. It's like a cinnamon roll, coffee cake, French toast, and beautiful concoction), bacon (yum) and sausage, Eggs Benedict, potatoes (mashed and chopped), donuts....ok stop me before I drool even more than I already am. The Blood Marys looked pretty good, which is not coming from me since these I am not a fan of, but it was the comment of everyone at my table. Two of our group ordered the nachos which looked and smelled great...they were quite surprised to find out that they were only $5. Game day special maybe? Would have been nice to be informed of any specials...pleasant surprise I guess. Our waitress was great, no complaints there. Parking options, well, they are there, but you might have to pay if you are coming during the week or Saturday. I got kicked out on Friday for using the empty mens restroom as a woman-- didn't even give me a chance to go back to the bar. They just pushed me out the door. The bouncer didn't let me find my party before leaving and instead left me outside alone at midnight. I get that it's hard to be a bouncer and this guy could have been having a bad night (I'd also like to put it on the record that the bartenders were great). However, in no circumstances should a man kick a woman out for some transphobic policy, and force that woman to be outside alone or get back in the 30 min line outside to go find their partner and tell them that she was kicked out. Dumb logic, but logic does not exist when you're power hungry. And racist. And sexist. And transphobic. Maybe the bouncer was a kind person having a bad night (maybe), but I don't believe the manager is a good person who was having a bad day. It's clear that the power hunger and oppression comes from the top in that bar. read more

The Loop is absolutely delicious. We decided to take advantage of their happy hour specials off drinks, appetizers and pizza. As an app, we ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wontons. These are a staple for us now. The cream cheese inside gave them such a delicious flavor with the crispy outside. Perfect amount of buffalo hot. We then shared the Bookmen Pizza and the Blackened Chicken Avocado Melt as the main meal. The Bookmen Pizza comes with chicken, bacon, white sauce, pesto and a five cheese blend. It was slightly boring but still very good. The Blackened Chicken Avocado Melt comes with pepper jack cheese, tomato, garlic aioli, on grilled sourdough. Honestly, we were so full from the app and pizza we didn't eat much on the sandwich, but from the one bite I had, I was not disappointed. I would have given The Loop five stars but it was spendy. We got HH specials on our drinks (one each), the wontons and the pizza, and the total was still a lot more than what we anticipated. Next time, maybe we'll order less and stick with a couple appetizers. read more

The Loop is a great spot with good specials from 9-12 every night but Friday and Saturday. I definitely suggest $3 taps & $4 burgers on mondays. The crowd is mainly 24-30 and most would likely fit into the "yuppie" category but the dance floor on Thursday-Saturday may indicate otherwise... Despite the "Jersey Shore" crew on the dance floor, I'd definitely suggest The Loop to others read more

The first time I came here was during March Madness on a Sat. at around 10 PM and everyone was watching the games. They were showing different games on their multiple big screens. We didn't know that was going to be the central theme at this bar that late on a weekend night. Nobody was dancing, there was no music, just the games! Almost all the guys pretty much had their eyes glued to the screens the whole time. My second visit was on a Sat. night in Jan. It was annoyingly packed and to the point where you couldn't move in certain places and people started pushing and shoving by the bar. I think one of their staff guys had to break up the area. It was almost impossible to stay close to your friends at times too. Other than that, it is a cool place if you want to dance to decent music since they have a pretty big dance area. The bathroom situation is not ideal since they only have 2 or 3 stalls so there's always a line. I think this place is good for groups though since they have big booth areas! read more

We waited a few minutes looking for a table. All the tables were empty but we're covered in dishes. While we waited for a table to be cleared we ordered drinks at the bar. Once we sat down the manager came over and tried to take our drinks from the bar by accusing us of bringing them from the outside. We then had terrible service and considered leaving because of the length of time it took to get a drink. During this whole process we were nothing but polite and met with hostility. At 6:30pm on a Friday, every place in downtown had a 1hour+ wait, except The Loop. So I was a bit skeptical but it turned out to be a great place. We had a party of 8 and all enjoyed their food. The waitress was attentive and the beers were fresh. Highly recommend the korean BBQ dish with kale and asian pears. The calamari and peanut skewered chicken were also pretty good. read more

The brunch was ok but not worth the $13 price tag. They have over a dozen tvs and only one with the Packers game even though there were over 15 people watching the game. Given the plethora of delivery options and great food in Minneapolis, this was a huge mistake. The food wasn't terrible, it just wasn't any good. And it was way overpriced. Here they served me some chicken something mac n cheese and it was below average mac n cheese with overcooked chicken breast on top and OH YEAH like a whole fucking Serrano pepper in it. I thought it might be there for a hint of spice when it's the menu but the whole dish was mouth burning and inedible it was a whole fucking pepper just sliced up. I guess some people would enjoy melting their tongues off, but it just gave me diarrhea. I'm a spice wuss, I admit it, and it really rips up my insides. I was facing an Oregon Trail style shit-myself-to-death scenario for fucking $19. $19 at the smack shack down the way gets you a giant bowl of lobster Mac n cheese with good ass lobster in it and it's legit one of the best things I've ever eaten, and definitely the best in the 3 weeks in MN for my business trip (shout out to holyland and the poke place by the university as well). Save your money and go someplace better. Hell for the price of that crappy Mac n cheese I could have gotten 2+ juicy Lucy's at matts, which are also way better. read more

Good lunch spot! Friendly staff and quick service. The loop offers a diverse menu including a collection of sandwiches and salads. Among my favorite menu items are the Cuban and the blackened chicken Quinoa Salad (if you dig jalapeños!) This place has a newly updated interior which is good because a few years back it was looking pretty tough. The Loop is now a solid northeast staple. read more

Hmm the only thing that this place has for a redeeming quality is their Poke bowl. I can't believe I'm saying that since MN isn't on the coast nor is it known for being on the up trend with raw fish- but man it was good. This place is best meant for drinks when you are a mid-20's and up person who likes a place to low-key/semi-classy party without dealing with "just-turned-21" college kids. Otherwise, yeah- no. I got the French dip on one occasion and the nachos for brunch on another and both were not worth my time or money unfortunately. French dip had weird stringy tendons and fat but it was covered in cheese so it was less noticeable. When we were there for brunch the music was so loud I couldn't hear my friends. I felt like I was 80 years old and lost my hearing. "WHAT?!" A DJ plays in between football commercial breaks- I suggest they spend their money on amping the crappy food that is served. We asked them to turn it down and thankfully they did. I appreciated that. The coffee was like water, and all 3 of us had to ask for another cup altogether. The 2nd cup was better. Went to the Loop the other night with my friends from out of town. First of all, service was so slow. We got a bunch of food and it was all meh. I agree with the review about the french onion soup. We went to this place in February and it was great. We went to this place this weekend and it has a major infestation problem now: it was crawling with shallow, immature people looking to get trashed and take advantage of something, anything. My bf, a big guy but no means a meathead, walked in to pick up me and the ladies after a girls night and two guys confronted him and actually said "You think you're tough??" as he tried to make his way over to our group of girls. Ugh, I hate that kind of scene. The bartender was good and the doorman was very sweet/happy-go-lucky -- the only reasons I give this place a two star instead of a one. And the coat check is handy. If you think you're in the shape to not remember this place the next day anyway, what the heck, why not. Give it a try. read more

Being in the line of fire for someone's farts while being unable to move elsewhere because it's too crowded is one of the worst things that can happen to you at a bar. When it happens TWICE, I take it as a sign to never return. If you like grinding on the dance floor, loud music, and watery drinks, then this is the place for you. First, the good: The Loop has a home-made veggie burger ($9.50) made out of quinoa, mushrooms and zucchini. It is vegan if you omit the cream cheese topping. I found the burger to be fairly tasty and well-constructed. It's not the best veggie burger I've ever had, but this one is in the top three in the Twin Cities, anyway. Suggestions for improvement: the tomato, onions and lettuce that came with the burger looked and tasted like plastic. The Loop clearly uses the food-service industrial grade stuff that Aramark or Sodexho supplies to most restaurants. Switch to organic options, preferably from one of the Minneapolis co-ops and you'd instantaneously have a tastier burger, and tastier food, in general. The patty itself was good in combo with the rest of the burger, but didn't stand out on its own. Adding some fresh basil to the patty could help, as well as some green onions and a light soy marinade. The fries on the side were good and unusual, as they were made with chunks of garlic. There are a couple of vegan appetizers (tofu dish, a hummus platter) and a veganizable mushroom sandwich as well. Now onto the not so good aspects of The Loop: on weekend nights this place becomes a haven for the 25-30 year old crowd, which is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your point of view. It gets extremely crowded but is thankfully not so loud that conversation becomes impossible. The drinks aren't great and are a bit expensive. I was also unimpressed with the pedestrian variety of draft beers. All in all, The Loop is serviceable. If it added a couple more smart vegan dishes and a few better draft beers (see Blue Nile for suggestions), I'd come back often. read more

The design of the place is pretty cool too, if you can get past the wall to wall TVs that seem to suck the soul out of this place. Service is pretty good if they know you. The Loop in the North Loop has fantastic Happy Hour drink specials until 6:30pm (yes, 30 minutes after most in the 'hood end). The bar is always bustling with young professionals from the neighborhood. But my biggest issue with this place is the lackluster service. I typically wait 5 full minutes to get noticed after walking in, even on not so busy nights. Frankly, I can't blame the bartenders because they seem to be hustling; it seems like the actual design of the bar (a loop) is the issue. Bartenders tend to stay on either the north or south side and never really have a good grasp of what's going on. Or they only focus on a big group. It's disappointing, honestly, because I feel like these issues have been brought up before and could be easily fixed by management. The happy hour deals are good. The ambiance is what you'd expect. Whatever you do, avoid this place after dark on a weekend. It's transformed into Bro Central. During the day, however, it's not so bad. read more

This review is for the restaurant / lunch crowd. I can't speak to the late night bar biz but there are plenty of other reviews here for that. I work in the neighborhood so I come in for lunch at least a couple of times a month. Service is usually good and speedy. The typical bar / lunch favorites, like burgers and sandwiches, are always reliably good. What stops me from giving 5 stars is inconsistency in some of the other items. I've had a couple of dishes, like the beet and goat cheese salad, that were sensational one day and just mediocre the next. What I really enjoy here are the sides. They offer sweet potato fries as a substitute for regular fries, and the onion rings are great. Large, slurpy onions breaded in a tasty batter that's not too heavy. If you're with a group of people, it's fun to get an order of rings or some other appetizer to share. Those are always good. All in all, a good reliable place. read more

We have been ordering from The Loop for work a fair bit recently, and experiences have been better than my experiences in-house. I am guessing they have re-done their menu since my last visit to the restaurant for a proper meal, because their food has really stepped it up! Entrees like salmon or rosemary garlic chicken always look and taste great, which isn't easy for restaurants to do as a to-go order. I feel like their pricing is good - not too high for Downtown, and really reflects the value of what you are getting. On top of that, their side salads come on a bed of mixed greens instead of floppy iceberg lettuce, and with grated parmesan and lots of fresh onions/tomatoes! (I think they make their croutons, too...) Melisa, the manager, is really helpful. We had a piece of chicken arrive really pink/undercooked, and she offered several options to make it right. We will definitely continue to order from The Loop. read more

Loop is multi faced place, in a good way. I have been this place few times and haven't been disappointed yet. You always get excellent service here. Wait stuff is busy but very attentive and jolly. It is a restaurant during day and night club after 10 pm. I love the crowd, they are little matured and well dressed. read more

I am a lunch crowd customer of The Loop. If you get there right at noon, expect a crowd, but there is usually space to sit at the bar for small groups at any time during the lunch hours. Specials are always a good bet. My favorite, however, is the Beer Battered Chicken Fingers. They are the best in town and probably most anywhere. Served over a bed of The Loop's seasoned fries and with a side of house made ranch dressing, it just can't be beat! A little pricey at 10 bucks, but quite a treat!
