This is an update to my original review of M Salon (in February 2011). I am extremely impressed with the high level of customer service and concern at this salon. The owner, Marjan, recently wrote to me after reading my original review, which was less than positive. My sense from my correspondence with her was that this is a salon that is deeply committed to the highest standards of quality and to making their customers happy. She offered to refund my money for the original visit and also to give me a complimentary service. I will certainly be back to visit this salon. read more

This was the worst haircut experience of my life. That'll teach me to go somewhere for the good deal (LivingSocial). I asked Marjan to simply layer my hair with just long subtle layers. She said she would take no more than an inch, was that ok? I said of course, it's fine. Along the way I started to notice lots of hair falling. The worst thing was my hair was not just short, it was now a mullet! I had huge chunks missing from the sides of my hair, a really short top layer, and long hair down my back. I left the salon in tears and quickly pinned back my hair so I could be seen in public. I had to pay to get it fixed, and the only way to fix it was a super short bob... a la Posh Spice. this review is for the shellac manicure. I purchased a Groupon and got it done in Feb 2014. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews, but it's close to my place and I needed my nails done for a vacation. I thought Marjan did a thorough job. It was clean and it looked really nice. It lasted probably 9-10 days before it started looking less fresh, but I was happy with it. Maybe she got some practice and got better. She was also very nice and the other employees were as well, offering me coffee and cookies. The only thing I would say is she did cut a little too close to my cuticle, so I would just ask that she be careful if I go back. It's more of a hair salon, than a nail place, so just keep that in mind. The place is pretty small but cute and quite. read more

What a disappointment! I first checked out the yelpers' reviews, and was looking forward to this appointment and when I saw the special deal in living social, I went for it... but this ended us as a complete disaster. I can't recall the name of the lady who cut my hair, and I explained that all I wanted was a trim and that I wanted to keep the length. She asked when I last cut my hair and proceeded to criticize that last cut saying that it was all wrong, that my type of hair didn't make sense to wear long (I have fine hair and the length was a few inches shy of reaching my waist), blah-blah-blah. She asked if cutting two inches was ok and I said yes. She started cutting away at the back and... I ended up with the worst haircut ever. The length now barely reaches my shoulders, the back has no layers and the front looks completely uneven. I don't know what I was thinking... if a hair salon needs to issue discounts in order to get customers in, this cannot be good. read more

I visit this salon several time. I love their work, specially her highlight and hair cut. She does such an amassing job. She does it with such a care. No where else in Beverly Hills u can fine a Saloon with this great prices and work. read more

I have got Brazilian Blow out in M salon and it looks great. The Salon looks very nice and cozy plus it is very well designed and decorated , let's not forget it's awesome location which is among all high end shops and stores on Rodeo Drive. I have done Brazilian twice before somewhere else and this one by far is the best Brazilian that I have got . It has been a month already and I am still enjoying it. I am a working mother with limited time , with this Brazilian I don't even need to blow dry my hair after washing it and amazingly it looks great still :) Marjan is very skillful and knowledgeable. She is so sweet, I was very late for my appointment but she still took me in and I was amazed by how efficient she was. Very happy with my service and definitely I'll go back again. read more

I also went with the living social voucher and was so disappointed. The deep conditioning treatment is a total joke - they put me under the heater for less than five minutes - after taking 10 minutes to adjust it as it was hitting me on the top of the head (I am 5"9) and they kept testing it - putting it back on (not high eough) hitting me in the head, it was comical. I had just gotten my haircut 6 wks, but the voucher was about to expire, so I was like, okay, I'll just get a trim. She kept bringing it up more and more, she cut way too much off, and like cut it all horizontal, like straight across. It was awful. Normally I think "hey yelper, if you were not satisfied, you should have spoken up!" but I did not think she was competent, I did not want her to try to "fix" it. And I didn't want a discount on an already discounted prepaid voucher, or a free return visit - I just wanted to get out of there. read more

I had a lovely experience at M Salon yesterday. I was a little nervous about going to Beverly Hills - especially Rodeo Drive. Its not my scene. Or even my tax bracket. But M Salon and Marjan were so welcoming that I got over my 90210 anxiety immediately. I had a Groupon for eyebrow threading. Threading hurts. It just does. And I have sensitive skin so it hurts double for me. But this was the least painful threading I have ever had. And my brows look great! Marjan offered me the same Groupon price if I booked my next appointment the same day - which I did. Thanks, M Salon and Marjan! I am a happy new customer! read more

It took me months to fix my hair after the awful haircut I received here. The layers that the stylist recommend, that I did not originally want, were so uneven and awful that my next stylist couldn't even believe it. I had to cut it inches shorter just to fix it and I definitely will not be back. Let this be a lesson: Just because you're on Rodeo Drive, does not mean you're good. read more

This salon offered me a free haircut after I left a less than pleasant review. Took it back and said well since you liked the blow dry, we can offer you a conditioning and blow dry. Um ok....thanks but no thanks. I was upset over the hair cut. Offer me a hair cut and stick to offering me a haircut. If you want me to revise my review revise what you did wrong. Not offer me the one thing you did right. I can blow dry my own hair. Thank you. Out of all the salons in Los Angeles....go to one that is serious about hair and understanding your hair. Enjoy finding parking when you go to this place. Thumbs down! read more

Let me say that when it comes to my hair I let very few people touch it. I have been to many Beverly Hills Salons and paid out the wazoo for a cut/color thinking it was the best just bc it was so pricey. However, after discovering The M Salon by a groupon I can say that after 4 years I have FINALLY found a salon I can call home. Marjan is THE BEST. The reason I love this place so much (obv besides the great cut/color) is bc its SO relaxing. Most salons are full of loud blow dryers, stress, and people trying to out do one another. When I go in for my cut/color I am greeted with a hug and a glass of champagne with a rockin playist to jam out to. Most salons don't let you make an appt at 6pm on a Tuesday which is also why i love this place. I work full time so the last thing i want to do is waste 3 hrs of my Saturday trucking across town to sit in a chair for 3 hours just because that's when most salons see their working clients. I love knowing that I will be the only one in the salon when i go and that i don't have to wait on other people. Next i will say that you won't find a more reasonably priced Salon in the BH area. I was a little skeptical at first bc i thought "wow how can this be, it's on Rodeo Drive" but I have now learned you can find a great cut/colorist, that treats you well, and won't break the bank all in one! I bought a facial on a Groupon (or Living Social) deal. My first facial was fabulous. When I went back for a second time, the facialist had left. The girl who gave me a facial was new. She was absolutely as sweet as they come - but the facial was terrible (can you actually have a bad facial?). I kind of was wondering if she had ever done this before. The other issue is that the table is right next to hair dryers blowing and phones ringing. It's about as relaxing as getting a facial in your office. A big letdown the second time around. read more

I bought a $22 groupon for a shellac manicure and went last May 16. I will not go back here anymore. The manicure was really worth $22, seriously, it was not even worth the listed price. Customer service was 4 stars but the quality is poor. I don't think the lady was a manicurist at all. read more

The salon itself is very cute. Nice BH location with a great vibe inside. The refreshments, robes, customer service was good and typical of upscale salons, I think. However, as much as I would like to say that I fell in love with this place, the truth is that I didn't. It was okay, but not great. Not the best hair cut I've ever had, not the best styling... not the best threading, either. Threading was okay, but not as clean and sharp as I'm used to. It didn't hurt at all, no pinches or accidental pulls, but I actually left this salon and went elsewhere to get extensions done. While there, they offered to "clean up" my brows. I'd just had them done, but it was a complimentary clean, so why not? This second place ended up doing fabulously on my brows and got every last tiny, fine hair that was previously overlooked/missed. Haircut/style was decent. I wanted to take a few inches off the bottom and have everything relayered for style. I left missing six inches..... good thing I didn't get it cut right before a big event and still have time to let it grow out. The cut itself and the styling was pretty good, but not the best I've had by any means. Probably not going to return.... sad because I am on the hunt for a good stylist and haven't found one yet. I saw Miss Vanessa B. a few weeks ago... It was hands down the best salon visit I've ever had. Vanessa was friendly, sweet and extremely educated about the color and products she used on my hair. I had black hair and was hoping to lighten up a bit for summer - Vanessa is the first stylist ever to lighten my hair without leaving crispy hay-like texture and a copper colored mess. She was able to lighten me more than I ever expected. She listened (AND HEARD) exactly what I wanted and made it happen! I didn't feel rushed like I often had with other stylists and she even sat and chatted with me while my color was processing. When it came time for the hair cut I explained that I had a bad experience previously and I was EXTREMELY nervous about loosing any length. Vanessa talked me through the entire cut and what she was doing throughout the process, which put me at ease. She gave me beautiful long, healthy layers. I will never go to another stylist again - I recommend Vanessa to EVERYBODY - very reasonable prices for such excellent and skilled service. I'm already looking forward to my next appointment. My happy, silky hair is pretty excited to go see her again too. read more

The Good: This is a beautiful salon with gracious and nice stylists. The Bad: Read the reviews prior to coming. Wish I had paid more attention to the reviews for haircuts; have to agree with them now. Had my haircut by two of the stylists here and went home upset and disappointed. I have long straight hair and asked for simple long layers. What I received was two levels - one level for the front section and one for the back section. The second stylist attempted to fix it and I ended up with short hair, choppy uneven sections. Having experienced high-end and simple salons, this was the worst cut and experience ever. Nice people but very disappointing uneven choppy cut without any shape or style. Regret not being able to post a before/after picture. Will be hard to survive with the fierce competition in Beverly Hills. Would never return, not even for free. read more

This is regarding a shellac manicure. I bought a deal on Groupon for $22. shellac manicure Polish supposed to hold three weeks when in fact he held less than a week! I do not know if the product was defective or the woman who works there that was very nice by the way, do not know how to use it. Anyway, it really was not worth the price because it did not held even a week. read more

I love Marjan. Finally I find a hair stylist who listens to the client. I always had fear of hair cut because my hair never grows long. Now I realize it is because of the hair cut. She does beautiful job with hair cuts and layering and I have full volume and curls because of the haircut technique. Marjan is awesome, sweet, and very professional. Not to mention the beautiful salon which is like a small retreat getaway from the rest of the city. read more

I was referred to Fahibra from a friend that has been going to her for 20+ years. I had orange brassy damaged hair that was horrific. She colored, highlighted, toned, cut and conditioned my hair. She spent 3 hours on my hair taking her time and completely changed my color and overall condition of my hair. I am so happy I found this little gem she is amazing and I highly recommend her if you are hesitant to change your hair dresser and/or have a disaster to fix as I did. She will provide you with options that will best work for you hair. I have now changed to her as my hair dresser and can't wait for my hair to grow and look beautiful. Marjan was a pro. I called spontaneously while on vacation in LA just for a few days and she was so happy to accommodate me on the same day! It basically made my trip. She did my ombre coloring perfectly, and I am so picky when it comes to being satisfied with my hair. I wish I was local so I could go back all the time! read more

I went to M for a haircut (I'm "lucky" to have straight hair) after I bought a deal on LivingSocial and will def be going back and paying full price. Marjan was awesome. I recently moved to Los Angeles and have had my hair cut 2 other times. One was $120 one was $28 at salon that both got great reviews. While the cuts were always satisfactory, the customer service wasn't nearly on par with M. Every time I go to a new stylist I tell them the same thing, I just can't get my hair to curl. They all totally ignore the wanting of even slight waves and say, so many people would love to have your straight hair, not Marjan. She said, I'll show you, and she did. I left with a great new cut, products and knowing how to do it myself. Marjan and the shampoo girl (sorry can't remember the name) were the most personable I've had. The scalp massage was awesome, I nearly fell asleep. As if the service and people weren't enough, it's right next to the 2 hour free lot. read more

I recently had my hair done at the M Salon because of a Living Social deal my boyfriend bought me for Christmas. It is in a great location and has a modern and stylish vibe in the salon. I had my hair done by Fariba I believe her name was ( I have her card somewhere in my purse) and it was amazing. I am usually scared to get my hair cut because it never ends up how I wanted, but it was the opposite case here. She listened to what I was looking for and made it happen. I have been going to Marjan for 2 years now! She is VERY sweet and VERY accomodating to your needs! I have short hair which leaves no room for error. She not only cuts my hair when it is wet but she also blow dries it and takes the time to trim it again to make sure my hair is exactly how I like it! On top of offering great haircuts, she also offers coffee, tasty Persian tea and even wine so you can defintiely relax and enjoy yourself. I have nothing but great things to say about this salon! I've been going to Marjan for over a year now. I have to say she does an amazing job as far as my Brazilian Blow out goes. She's patient, listens to your concerns, explains everything thoroughly, takes her time and does a beautiful job. Marjan is very pleasant, accommodating and has other very professional people working for her. Even though I've had others offer to do my BB at other salons mentioned by friends, I wouldn't, because Marjan, at M Salon does a great job. That was my first time at M Salon and I got a fantastic haircut.

I love this salon! It's tucked away in a quiet location off Rodeo Dr and the perfect place to escape for an afternoon of pampering. Making an appointment is easy and the owner, Marjan is so kind and makes sure you are comfortable and satisfied with your services. Gloria gave me a beautiful shellac manicure and was so sweet and patient as I went back and forth between color choices. She insisted I take my time and let me try on the polishes until I found my perfect color. I sipped a complimentary glass of champagne along with a cookie while enjoying the relaxing music and comfortable chair. I can't wait to return here, this is my new favorite salon!
