It was insanely hot the day we visited, but between the shade from the buildings and all the greenery around the patio, we were surprisingly comfortable outside. And I wasn't the only dog who knew about this place. There were several of us having brunch with our humans. We didn't actually speak, obviously. We communicated through the secret dog eye-contact network. I can't disclose what was discussed. Mom ordered the Guajillo Braised Berkshire Pork Chilaquiles -- pork, fried eggs, cotija, cilantro and pickled onions. Most importantly, she shared the pork with me. Finally. A restaurant review where journalism is properly supported. Her friend ordered the Seasonal Scramble, which came with greens and home fries and also looked highly investigatable. The ladies ordered mocktails and then apparently decided the "mock" portion was unnecessary and added a little kick. I remained sober and professional. But what really earned The Mary Lane points with me was the dog hospitality. The staff was wonderful and brought me my own water bowl without us having to ask. I was very well taken care of throughout brunch. The outdoor area is especially lovely, with colorful planted boxes creating a little barrier between the tables and the street. I had an okay experience here when I came for happy hour with my friends. Happy hour ends at 7 pm and is only available at the bar and patio. My friends and I sat outside at the patio. We got: - spritz ($10): this tasted like an Aperol spritz - nothing crazy! - boozy seasonal soda ($10): so this is on the happy hour menu, however the only soda we could choose from was the strawberry basil one... I guess it is their choice of what soda... very odd that we couldn't choose a different one but whatever. So we got 1 with gin and 1 with tequila. I enjoyed this more than the spritz. - cucumber melon mocktail ($12) Where it got weird was when our sever came at 6:50 to tell us they were doing last call. We were still halfway done with our 2nd drink and asked if we could even order another round and he basically said no he had we still had drinks. The crab galette was so tasty, between the freshness of the crab and the foam situation on bottom. My only feedback is that it really seemed like a crab cake and not a galette. The carrots are an underrated achievement. There is so much going on with the flavor profiles but it all works together seamlessly. The halibut may have been my favorite. I asked re: restaurant week menu but was told it's only available Monday to Friday only which was really annoying as that's not what I was told when I made the reservation (I literally asked outright if the restaurant week menu was available and she said yes). Nevertheless we carried on with the regular menu and ordered dishes and appz to share. All the food was pretty good. The chicken (which was their special of the night) was nice and tender, really enjoyable. The mushroom tartare was also great, not every day you see this on the menu of many restaurants. I would have given 4 to 5 stars however the misinformation was pretty annoying. The salad had shaved cucumber & radish and grated cheddar, which a creamy dreamy ranch style dressing (I dipped the bread in it to get every last drop!) Our entrees were sirloin steak over vegetables in a rich brown sauce (my husband's dinner), and I had the Chicken Cacciatore ravioli with crispy skin(oh that was heaven)...we each switched a good sized bite each other's way.
