A regular sandwich is approaching 3-4 pounds, Stacked about 5" high , brimming with grade "A" meats, cheeses, and all the proper garnish. Bread too is fresh and im guessing delivered daily from an amazing baker! For 10$ and change, you seriously have a full meal - for TWO !!! Holy sandwich! We stumbled onto this shop by absolute accident. We were out and about shopping and needed a sandwich . Driving into the strip mall was a little concerning..... let's just say it's in an old part of Apache Junction and store front is dirty, run down and less than inviting. But we read the past reviews and decided to give it a try. Mainly because I was starving..... we joked that we had either found a hidden gem, or we were going to get food poisoning. We ordered 4 different sandwiches ..... First off they brought them out to us in a big box. Sandwiches were on a plate and all wrapped up in Saran Wrap to keep fresh for the journey home. The sandwiches were ginormous! There was a bunch of meat on them! My husband commented that it was the size of his head. LOL!! Everything was very fresh and tasted great. If you order a large sandwich, you get a large sandwich. They​ have their bread baked by a local (Mesa) bakery so it is very good. The fillings are all good quality so no real disappointment there. Some notes: - The place isn't visible from the street so you need to kind of look for it. - Very small in terms of seating. I absolutely love this roast beef sandwich I just had from The Meat Slicer Deli. The bread they use is amazing. This is the type of sandwich you would get at a high end luxury hotel at lunch time, the reason I only gave 4 stars is due to the bad customer service. The girl taking my order seemed to be on drugs. She kept asking me over and over what I wanted and made me feel as I was bothering her. She needs to go. I'm guessing she is a family member of the owner because I doubt anyone would hire her if she wasn't family. read more

Bit off more than I can chew. These sandwiches are freaking huge. No really they are massive. We stopped in with a friend that said we had to try this place. She was right. I has the Italian Beef and the Blonde had the Italian sub. First, it is not a sub. It is a sandwich with all the ingredients you would expect on an Italian sub, times 3. All the sandwiches are served on hand sliced, fresh baked bread. The meats are piles on, followed by slices of cheese and more meat. John, the owner will gladly tell you how to tip the sandwich back on its heel and eat it until you have a small enough sandwich to pic up. My suggestion is to split the sandwich right through the cheese and eat two open face sandwiches. That's just the first half. Wrap up the second half and take it home. The Blonde took half of the first half home too. The breads that they use are phenomenal, the meats are delicious, and you get your money's worth. I will be back on a Thursday to try the meatball sandwich which is said to contain 12 to 15 meatballs for the whopping price of 7.95! I have been challenged to eat the whole thing in one sitting. Tried this place today. Food was good, but service was absolutely terrible. This was our first time in here. Girl working counter was very unfriendly (no greeting, smile or any facial expression). When asked what a small sandwich was only told us it was 8oz of meat. We were looking for 6", 12" sub or sandwich bread. We needed to know if we could share a sandwich. Almost forgot our chips. When she brought the sandwich she basically threw it on the table and didn't say anything. Guy in back greeted us upon leaving. We tried to say maybe she's having an off day but after reading reviews it she's she doesn't have a personality to deal with customers. The ambiance looked dirty. Needs a fresh coat of paint, brighten it up. Make if more of a friendlier environment. So if you want terrible service but a good sandwich check it out. A lot better than any of your chain sub sandwich restaurants. The meat quality (as mentioned in previous reviews) is not the high end deli meat you might expect from the more trendy deli spots, but it's 100% better than what you'd get at a subway or the like. I tried the Turkey sub and the Roast Beef. Both were delicious. Soft soft bread. Plenty of cold cuts. Good flavor. Great toppings. Friendly service. My turkey sub had too much Italian seasoning on it- but that's the only negative I can come up with. The location isn't the best, but the place is clean and efficient- and the people working there are so nice and super helpful. I absolutely recommend taking it to go. Eating these subs in my pajamas and watching food network makes me happy. read more

Sorry, not really impressed. I can throw a bunch of meat on 2 slices of bread with a slice of cheese in a few minutes. But is that really a sandwich? I ordered the turkey, bacon and avocado on rye with lettuce and tomato. The avocado was literally nonexistent and neither was the romaine lettuce. What lettuce that there was the fibrous stalk instead of the crisp green leaves of good romaine. The tomato's (what little there were) were mushy and not fresh. I'd say maybe one slice but it was so mushy I couldn't tell. The bacon was not freshly cooked, not by at least 8 hours. The fat was white and the bacon was stringy. The bread was soggy and fell apart. Anyone can put a pile of meat between 2 slices of bread, but making a good sandwich takes a little artistry. If all you make is sandwiches, you should make really good fresh sandwiches. I also noticed they have had several Health violations so I'm pretty sure We won't be back. read more

Walk in to the smell of fresh baked French bread and a smile and a hand shake from the owner. The hubby and I split the Slicer and it was way more than enough! So HUGE! I really enjoyed this place! The owners were super friendly and the sandwiches are excellent! If you're really hungry, these will fill you up. I almost couldn't finish mine, actually. The bread is soft, fresh and delicious. You get a small bag of chips with each sandwich you buy. The meat was tasty (I love pastrami), I don't understand why some people were saying it's too salty... I thought it was just fine! I got corned beef and pastrami on rye, so good! They're willing to just make whatever kind of sandwich you're thinking of, if they have the ingredients. I wanted a Reuben, but they didn't have sauerkraut or thousand island dressing, so they did the best they could. Seating inside is very limited, they do have chairs and tables outside, which is fine, I don't really count that as a negative, but just be aware. If you don't want to sit outside, then just plan to get your sandwiches to go. Also, from what I could see the place looked nice and clean. Nothing crazy or amazing with the decor, it just comes off as a mom and pop sandwich shop, and doesn't apologize for it. In fact there are just a couple of minor details that keep me from giving this place 5 stars. I felt like there was a little too much cheese, next time I'll ask them to go light on that. I counted 14 slices, which is awesome, but it was kind of overpowering the flavor of the meat. The other thing is, they don't take credit/debit cards. They do have an ATM in the shop, so you're not totally out of luck if you don't have any cash on hand, but it is a minor hinderance. Not to mention I hate paying additional fees for pulling money from some random ATM. So bring some cash if you don't want to deal with that. Other than that, this place is great! So glad I decided to give it a try! Oh! One big bonus point for these guys is their great customer service! My daughter was being fussy and didn't want to eat either of the sandwiches my wife and I bought. So we asked if we could just have one slice of bread for her. We are new to Apache Junction and doing remodeling on our new to us home so we are eating out a lot right now. The sandwich shop that my hubby likes was closed so I looked for the next closet one and The Meat Slicer came up. I ordered The Hawaiian and Slicer Works on French Bread. The sandwiches were for my hubby and a friend who is working for us. They both loved their sandwiches. Yes we read the Yelp reviews and were excited to try this place out. We accidentally went next door which is a biker bar. Remember the scene in Pee Wee Hermans Great Adventure when he walked into a biker bar and then jumped on the counter and danced to Tequila. That is how we felt. So if your going....make sure you go in the right door. When we went in the right door your hit with this unpleasant ordor. I hate to be a party pooper. Large sandwiches do not a good deli make. Yes the sandwiches are made to share. Most people can't eat it all in one sitting. The meat is poor grade and the bread was dry and thick. I was hoping to find a good deli on the east side but the gimmiky large sandwich was trumped by poor quality meat. I actually went and bought a roll at the grocery store and remade my sandwich.
