My fiancé had made special arrangements for my birthday here. I have never been to The Melting Pot before, but he has and has always spoke highly of it so what better way to celebrate than to share his experiences with me during my birthday. The restaurant appears small upon entry, but when we were called to our reserved table, there's a doorway behind the host desk that leads to the back rooms which were very private. The hostess were all very friendly. She lead us to our table where were shortly greeted by our server. She was amazing as well. She was very gracious and had our table setup with the flowers, card, chocolates, and champagne my fiancé had arranged and we started there. She asked the occasion and attempted to get to know us better to make our experience more personalized and a small cake was also brought over. She explained everything in detail and how their menu works which helped us (more me) decide on the best option for myself. There was a lot to choose from. We had appetizer options which we selected the loaded baked potato one. It came with chunks of apple, bread, pretzels, and various veggies such as broccoli, mushroom, carrots and tomatoes. For our main course we selected a broth and different meats, veggies, and seafood and added a couple lobsters. The only issue I had was one of the lobsters was a bit old and didn't taste right. The shell was also already turning a bit red, so it must've been near something warm. Either way, the rest of our meal and experience was overall great. I gave 4 stars because of one of the lobsters being old. The other lobster was fine though. Overall, we had a great experience and I would go back. We had a party of seven, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The service was great, and the overall ambience of the restaurant was nicely, casual, and entertaining as for the food, it was served promptly enough. We'd like the assortment of cheeses, and the meat and seafood seemed good quality. So did the vegetables. We enjoyed the chocolate course, although wished they included more fruit than baked bites. Now I'm debating between three and four stars, and the sole reason is price. Man, that was expensive for what it was and what you got. We agreed we would come back, but maybe once a year. read more

This was such a great dining experience! We were excited to visit a Melting Pot again since we don't have them in Las Vegas, but we used to love dining at one in Ohio during our time there. Definitely make a reservation - easy to do on their website. The interior is large, but the ambiance is designed such that the tables still feel quite private. We went for the big night out multi-course meal which includes the cheese course, salads, assorted meats and seafood for the entree course, and a chocolate course. Try their cocktails! I had the paradise punch - tropical and fruity - as well as the love martini - strong with just the right amount of sweetness. Everything was delicious! We had the classic alpine cheese choice which includes lighter cheeses such as Swiss with wine and nutmeg. Delicious! This course includes assorted breads and fruits and vegetables for dipping. I had the Caesar for the salad course which was delicious. I really enjoyed the pine nuts which added a lovely crunch. For your entree course you can choose from a variety of cooking broths. We had the coq au vin. You also get various meats (steak, chicken) as well as salmon and ravioli to cook for this course. Everything was delicious; I think the steak was my favorite. Then comes the chocolate course... we chose the "dark and dulce" option and splurged the few extra dollars for the cake topper with a sparkler since it was a birthday celebration. Various sweet items are included for dipping with the chocolate including marshmallows and sponge cake and brownies. Delicious!! I also had the "billionaire's coffee" which is coffee with various cordials added in. Tasty and strong!! The server was extremely friendly and attentive throughout. I came here with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday on Friday night. We had a great time - delicious food and drinks all around, fantastic service (Peter was extremely hospitable - funny and nice), and a cozy environment. We all indulged in the 4-course option starting with the green goddess cheddar salad and cheese fondue and then enjoyed an assortment of meats and veggies in two broths (traditional coq au vin and mojo). The desserts were scrumptious too. Generous portions of everything, nobody left hungry, that's for sure! My daughter and I have been coming here for a LONG time - probably 15 years. It was our 'special' place where we would just sit and have great mother-daughter chats. Recently things started getting rocky. Portion sizes were smaller, service was worse, just all kind of annoying. I'm happy to report -- things are looking up! We went this past weekend and met the new manager - he's great! He said he really has been paying attention to reviews and watching service and trying to get things more consistent. My husband and I had an absolutely amazing experience at the melting pot this weekend! We have been before and it is always good but this visit was beyond exceptional! Our waitress Shauna was by far one of the best servers we've ever had. In fact every person we interacted with was phenomenal, everyone seemed happy and like they truly enjoyed their jobs. One of my favorite things about the melting pot is the private alcove tables that are perfect for date nights. As always the food was amazing. Fun experience that I have never tried before. Make sure to make a reservation cause it's busy and it takes a while. Our dinner was 3 hours but we did the 3 course dinner and this was expected. There is a menu where you can select one cheese, one dinner entree and one dessert fondue. We got the classic cheese and the waiter/waitress makes it at the table. The base for the classic one is wine and I think he put too much wine in it, because that's all I could taste. The dinner entrees were really good where you cooked your shrimp and whatever else you order in the pot. Dessert fondue is also really amazing. I had a great martini. The booths are so cute and cozy. Haven't been to a melting pot in 10+ years it was a fun experience. I got the experience for 1. Go with the "classic" choices they are the best. Like Green goddess Cheddar or Coq Au Vin. Get extra Goddess sauce with the meat and veggies. Also, I don't think the side salad is worth it. The server was very nice and knowledgeable guiding me through the meal and each course. I even had the owner stop by and check everything was good. What a fantastic dinner! My friend and I ate here in October during a stay in the Boston area. It was a Tuesday night so it was fairly quiet but there were several tables full. The restaurant is set up so people can be in quiet spaces and enjoy their meal experience. We got the Big night out and used a coupon from Restaurant.com. Our server was great in explaining how it worked for my friend who had never eaten at a Melting Pot. We ordered our salads, our cheese course, and coq au vin for our entree fondue. While we were waiting on our cheese course we decided on swirled chocolate for our dessert course. The cheese was a perfect starter and we had more than enough meat for our entree course. The overall experience was great and ultimately that's what eating here is all about. The food quality was nothing special. The cheese dip was ok. It's been a minute since I last dined at a Melting Pot. Not too many in my usual area/city. I was thoroughly impressed but there have been some changes since my last experience: some good and some not so great. First the good parts are the cocktails. The drinks I had were all fantastic! I think it was the Red Bull in the Tropic Haven Punch but it went down so easy. Even though I had it late in the evening I still was able to sleep at a normal hour (probably my own caffeine addiction coming into play) but it tasted so good and I loved the green and yellow hombre effect within the drink. Menu states that it comes with dry ice smoke but mine seemed to lack that. The Paradise Punch and Love Tini were also really yummy. Our server Nini was really professional and friendly. The pacing of the food here is great especially the meats because you need to wait for each of them to cook and get 3 skewers at a time. The amount of food is immense so letting your stomach rest throughout the meal is a welcome part of the dining experience. A manager came by and introduced herself. She was very friendly and reassured us she is there to get us what we would like. As for the not so great, the salad portion seems way less than I remember, the included dipping options seemed to have changed (used to be a dark brown molasses bread now replaced with pretzel bread), and cheesecake used to be a standard dessert dipper now they charge extra for cheesecake bites as an optional add on along with macarons and cream puffs. There is a nice upgrade that is the chocolate explosion: comes with a Bundt cake and a sparkler for celebrations. The ambiance is clean and inviting. I feel like it is a great place for intimate moments or to just catch up in a very relaxing environment. Not much fanfare or loud music (actually the music is quite mixed from jazz to pop) something for everyone. I am planning our next return soon when we are in this area. Every time we visit we have a great experience, from the friendly atmosphere to the fantastic food. Last night my husband and I went for Thursdate and I put in a request to be seated at a table if possible as their booths are a bit narrow and my husband and I are not small people. They were more than happy to accommodate us. I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience here, and we've been going for the better part of 7-8 years. The loaded potato cheese is my go-to, and although I like the turtle chocolate, my favorite is the original - I am a sucker for peanut butter. Now, as hard as I try, I genuinely can't figure out what all the hype is about. The cheddar cheese? Easy to find, private parking, highly recommend a reservation, which you can make yourself online. This was our first time at such a place and our waitress (Giovanna? )was SUPER helpful in making decisions. She also alerted me that we happened to pick the day of the week (Wednesday) that kids eat free! My son doesn't eat meat so none of the kids entrees were up his alley, so instead of one of those, they doubled our cheese order for free. This was a pleasant surprise and a money saver! Since it was all of our first experiences and my kids can be picky, we were steered towards the more basic Wisconsin Cheddar and it was the perfect suggestion. I liked being able to see all the ingredients put in and watching it melt before your eyes. For dipping purposes, we were given: bread, soft pretzel, broccoli, apples, and cauliflower. My super finicky kids devoured EVERYTHING. For dessert, we chose the Flaming Turtle. My kids got a kick out of getting lit on fire. And the chocolate was DELICIOUS. You got quite a variety to dip in there: pound cake, marshmallows, strawberries, bananas, brownies, and more! I'd love to have one of these closer to Maine, but it's probably better for my waistline that we don't. Came here on a Sunday night during dinner at 5 pm, with no reservations. Surprisingly, I was able to get right in. You can make reservations online, which I recommend, especially for a weekend. Online reservations do ask for a credit card just in case of a no-show and does charge you a fee if not done in time for canceling. The way the booths are set up gives you so much privacy. Since no one is across from you side ways and the barrier are higher than your head. At least where I was sitting, it was just hallways with booths on one side. My server was really nice and personable. Gianna was very attentive and enjoyed talking with her. The food was delicious and cheese made right infront of you. Daniel was a nice guy but he hung around the table a tad bit too long and it slightly took away from the meal. Otherwise, I did enjoy this expensive experience and plan to come back again. We did try to go the week prior and Daniel told us they actually closed because they didn't have enough covers. They don't get much walk in business and since they didn't have a ton of reservations on the prior Tuesday they closed and said it was because of maintenance matters. I have read others reviews and as for what I wrote above seems to be par for the course. Here is where I go completely rogue- the food quality was dog sh$t- stale, underwhelming and tiny and I mean tiny proportions. Additionally they were out of key components on the Prix menu- stupid: they were completely out of teriyaki glaze/sauce and out of caramel? Making no mention of this at the time of ordering- knowing full well they had been out prior- thats a bait n switch bullsh$t maneuver. What made me laugh - out loud- was the baked potato cheese we chose; the cheese was actually good, what was laughs was the teaspoon of diced potatoes and even less with the bacon.... Why? What a stupid offering. Finally and to put the cherry on this turd - the wonderful experience comes with (2) glasses of champagne- waitress was totally hoping to rush us out without even offering - then my gf had to sheepishly ask for them and the waitress was totally like 'oh yea' and brings us to glassfuls of flat as fu$k champagne- if it was to begin with. They put 20% as their tip - and its explained in the small writing of their original advertisement- I foolishly gave an additional $10 (under additional tip) because to be honest I felt like I was obligated when I should have asked for the bill to be corrected for more like a 5% total tip - since her service beyond what I wrote above was terrible, slow and just did not give a sh$t.... read more

Short story - Inattentive but cordial waitstaff; EXPENSIVE, but I knew this going in. If you want to say that you've tried fondue and are okay with mediocre food and service, this is a decent place to go. Long story - This is a chain restaurant, so the inside is what one would typically expect of a large chain. I observe that most people come for the experience, but not necessarily the quality of the food. So it's dim, the walls, carpets, and heavy wood furnishings are dark, and the well groomed alcohol collection and bar is what you see when you first come in. I won't go into detail regarding what the typical experience is like because there are plenty of reviews which cover that. In short - you order what type of stuff you want to dip/cook, and what type of stuff you want to dip it into. Our experience was that at this location the staff was initially cordial, but not friendly (seems typical of Boston, so this isn't a complaint). It was a party of two (me and a kid) and I got the distinct vibe that we were not a priority because of the kid in tow. This is a huge pet peeve of mine, but I can't say if this was a reflection of the waitstaff or this restaurants overall culture. The food itself was lackluster. The bread that came with the cheese course was stale and crumbly. The cheese fondue itself was grainy and bitter. Typically during the broth course, the liquid is topped off to ensure the food can be fully submerged. I was expecting this, but it never happened. It was almost impossible to cook the food properly. Our water was never refilled and we had to flag down our waitress to ask for the check. Over all I'd give my experience two stars. However I've only been there once, won't return because I don't live near it, and can't say if my experience was an accurate representation of a typical experience. We came on a Wednesday and ordered from the Best Fondue Friends Forever menu, which we had to ask for specially. We had the classic alpine to start, which came with Prosciutto, Summer Sausage, French Baguette, Pretzel Bread, Honey Wheat Bread, and seasonal veggies and fruit. We both had the caprese salad which was a little heavy on the Balsamic. Next time, I'll try the California salad.
