My boyfriend and I made reservations a little while ago and we chose the last seating option. (It was late but it WAS a seating option.) when we got there the front desk/greeter was so sweet and polite and she really got us excited to have dinner (it was our first time there). When we were seated we noticed people were still eating so it wasn't empty. Our server came over and from that moment on completely rushed us. I would order menu options and she would say "it's too late to order that" or "that takes long to prepare and you were seated pretty late" I had to remind her that we made reservations and the seating time we chose was an option and we were on time. Had we of known we wouldn't be able to order the same items as other patrons we wouldn't of come. The last straw was when she came over to give us our dinner so we can cook it and then handed me a desert menu at the same time and said "you should order desert now because the chefs are ready to clean up the kitchen to leave". I didn't want to keep anyone past their shift but again we came there during serving hours and made a reservation and I felt as though we should of had the same great experience as the first patron that day. My boyfriend and I visited The Melting Pot for the first time on Friday. We had made reservations so we were seated right away. The host then briefly went over the menu and how it worked but she didn't seem to confident on it. The waiter, Bryant (like Colby Bryant) then greeted us. He was an excellent waiter. He made the experience 10x better. For our food, I had the (4 course meal) House salad and tomato sun dried chicken. It was yummy My boyfriend also had the four course meal. He had a pear salad and (i can't remember the name) a mix of meats and seafood. (Bryant called it the Kings Meal) For our chose of cheese we had the spinach artichoke and we got the rosemary fries. That was pretty good. And for our dessert chocolate we had the Banana Foster. Overall the good was pretty good and the bill wasn't bad at all. (Oh and the guy who hosts 94.5 PST was sitting next to us too..!) We enjoyed our time here. The service was slow but i don't think it was a bad thing especially when getting the four course meal. it gave us enough time to digest our food and allow for room in between. I highly recommend that if you choose to go here be prepared to spend some time inside and also that you ask for Bryant because again he was excellent and caring and you could tell he loved his job. After being to this location a handful of times since they opened, we honestly didn't have high expectations for our last visit. We love Melting Pot so much and have been hundreds of times all over the country but for some reason we have never been satisfied with this location. I am not sure if they got new ownership or not but our last visit was outstanding. Our server, Paige, was very personable and attentive. All of our food and portion sizes were great and no requests were left undid. I am so glad that this location has turned things around and that we can be Melting Pot regulars again. read more

Had the most bizarre experience here tonight. I say bizarre because I'm not sure how else to describe it. Reservation for 5:30, was sat on time. When ordering our wine- Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc, waiter asked us if we knew if they were whites or reds After about 25 min, served appetizer (time check: 5:55pm) 45 min later, no waiter check in (tc: 6:40pm) cue the salad course and he had no idea what the dressings were, mine was missing candies pecans. We order another glass of wine. Waiter goes M.I.A. for 45 minutes. Literally no sign of him. (tc: 7:25pm). Approach hostess stand and manager is apologetic and fetches our wine and comps it (she was nice and did the right thing). Waiter reappears from the abyss (tc: 7:45) and offers no apology or acknowledgment that his manager had to get our wine. We order entree and he apparently transports himself into another dimension for the next 30 min (tc: 8:15). Entree cooking liquid placed on table but nothing to put in it ‍ Entree fixings delivered (tc: 8:45). Still confused on wine orders. No check ins on entree, eventually bus boy clears table. But leave the pot which is steaming in our faces. Waiter resurfaces again (tc: 9:00) still no wine but takes dessert order. I reference the still boiling entree pot to which he says 'yeah it can go!' (but doesn't remove it) and poof! Gone again. Wine glasses are still empty, we ask bus boy to find our waiter (tc: 9:10) and he comes back surprised as to what we needed. Realized wine glasses empty and went to get them, little to no realization of the time we've been here and waiting all night. Wine is obtained (tc: 9:15) and dessert is delivered. We happily indulge and suddenly our server resurfaces quickly (tc: 9:30) with check in hand saying 'no rush' and 'survey inside!' (Are you sure you want me to take that????) I take note that closing time is 10pm and we are close to end of shift. Server then stops by every 10 minutes asking if the check is ready. No sense of urgency all night and now you want to head out so we are being pushed to close out? ‍No thanks. Slowly enjoy last glass of wine, and hand check over and he disappears forever. (tc: 9:55). For those of you keeping score at home, that's a 4.5 hour dinner. Plan accordingly! read more

During a recent visit to the Melting Pot we thought it would be nice to celebrate my wife's birthday there with my 2 children. We entered the restaurant and was seated right away since we have booked a reservation prior. While sitting there waiting to be greeted by our waitress we noticed that 3 other tables that have been seated prior have already been helped. About 20 min in the young lady that seated us brought us some water and mentioned that our waitress will be with us shortly. We didn't think much since we had a good conversation going. Once the waitress showed up she took our order and brought my children their drinks. My wife's and my drink never arrived for another 45 minutes until something was mentioned to another person passing that worked at the location. Still optimistic that things will turn around we started getting our dipping cheese and bread when the cheese never melted all of the way. We wanted to inform our waitress but still barely around to be found. While waiting we continued to eat our salads and dip with bread and fruit. That finished and we continued to wait. Now I could understand if they had to prepare multiple meals for a table but anyone that has ate at one of the locations understands everything is cooked at the table. Now we start to get upset. Looking around the other tables that arrived after us are leaving. Another family passes are table leaving because of the delay in getting their food. My wife, on her birthday, went to find the manager. She explained what has been occurring and expressed that we would just like to leave and requested the check. So after being there for 2 hours we ate a salad (mediocre at best), bread with partially melted cheese, and fruit along with 2 adult drinks and 2 kids drinks. So yesterday I took my family to dinner here to celebrate my son's 24th birthday. We all ordered the 4 course meal. We were seated immediately, as we had an early reservation. Drink specials were Harry Potter themed so we all ordered the butter beer. I was expecting a mug of beer but instead it was served in a tall glass with whip cream topping. It looked like a milkshake, tasted like a milk shake. It was nothing like the Butterbeer I drank at Universal a few years ago. Our waitress was on point. Quick service and thorough understanding of the menu. I have had dinner here before, and was not a huge fan of the meat/chicken/seafood course but my family wanted the full meal so I ordered as well. This course is still off. Bland even with accompanying sauces. Something that I will skip on future visits. While we were in the middle of our meal, 4 teenage girls were seated in the booth right next to us. As a parent myself, I would hope my son at their age would have been more composed and polite to his immediate surroundings and the other diners in it. These girls were not. These girls were loud. These girls were rude. These girls had a sword fight with their fondue forks. They were seated in this section bc they wanted a specific waiter to serve them. It really dampened our meal. We were unable to move tables at this time. I had expressed displeasure to our server who had the manager approach us after we were finished. Once we finished the cheese it was about 25 minutes before we saw the server again, but... when we did, she was bringing out our meals. Um, where were our salads? I asked and she looked like a deer in the headlights. She apologized and asked if we wanted both together. Um, no, we don't. She seemed flustered that she had to bring the meals back to the kitchen. We received the salads, which had almost no dressing on them. But, I was not about to ask for more and have to wait. We received the meals (reasonably) about 10 minutes after finishing our salads. The food was great (as usual). The server only checked on us once through the entire meal. We needed more sauces, but couldn't ask for them until the very end of the meal when she finally came back. After this things just completely fell apart, The chocolate was ordered and came out about 15 minutes later, fine. We needed more dippers, but nobody came back to ask if we needed anything at all. We literally sat there for 30 minutes with a burning half full pot of chocolate. At this point we were done. We didn't even want any more and just wanted to leave. We asked another waiter to get her so we could pay and leave. It still took another 10 minutes for her to give us the check. This was a birthday dinner for my daughter. Needless to say it was not the night she (we) expected. This place is too expensive to have less than top notch service. We are not newbies having been here more than 25 times. The Melting Pot is one of my favorite places to go for a special occasion, but I have been slightly disappointed with my service there recently. The concept of Melting Pot is one you'll either love or hate- you get to cook all of your own food from cheese to meat to chocolate. I personally love the idea of it and think the food is always delicious! Some of my favorites are the California salad, spinach and artichoke cheese, and the berry chocolate. However, my most recent visits are why I'm giving the Melting Pot 3 stars. A few days ago I went and although the resturant was empty- the weather was bad and it was only around 4pm, but I felt like the waitress was rushing our meal. She brought the check almost immediately after the chocolate and also didn't offer to bring more sides for both the cheese and chocolate, which is something that is usually offered. Another time, when I went for happy hour a few months ago, the waitress did not seem to know what the deal was for happy hour, which was a bit confusing. I really do like the food and concept of the Melting Pot, but it can also be a little pricey. My daughter really wanted to try out chocolate fondue for her birthday earlier this week. My husband was very leery of trying it here because of all the poor reviews so we compromised by choosing a pretty frigid evening early during Happy Hour to take advantage of their $5 special. We could see one table in the dining room with customers and with no one there to greet us, headed over to the empty bar to a high top table for 4. After a few minutes, we did get menus and got greeted by the bartender and manager. To my dismay, I found out the small tables can only handle one fondue pot at a time. It was my daughter's birthday and she liked our table so there we stayed. We put in an order for 2 of the Happy Hour chocolate fondues which were all put into one pot. The dippers were sliced bananas, strawberries, assorted marshmellows, poundcake, brownies, and pineapple. It was just enough for us three.There were really no other options offered by the bartender for the happy hour appetizers other than cheese fondue and rosemary french fries so we picked the french fries. TBH the fries were delicious. So for what we got, it was perfectly adequate. The reasons I gave it less were if this was a happy hour gathering with friends and our only food options were french fries and fondue, we'd probably choose elsewhere with a much more extensive food options to soak up our alcohol. read more

My fiancé and I both went there for the first time to celebrate our recent proposal. We did the hint of romance and get a nice secluded table with roses and a candle which was very nice. The Wisconsin cheddar was amazing with the bread, the vegetable broth was also very good with the garlic pepper steak and Cajun pork. Lastly the yin Yang chocolate was so good with everything that it came with! The best part was our server Lilliana. She explained the menu in full detail since it was our first time and was super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. With desert she gave us a plate that said "congratulations" with two rings drawn on it and candles on a cake as well as a box of dipper strawberries for our engagement. The Wednesday night promo 3 course Best Friends Fondue for $38 pp is a steal! Add in a cocktail and some rosemary fries--you're good to go! Besides being a smidge scarce on the veggies/fruits, I have no complaints on the food. My problem was our server, Lilliana. I have never felt so rushed during a meal. I appreciate the occasional check in; but hovering AND taking the tray that clearly still had bread and a few other nibbles didn't need to occur. When she asked were we done with the cheese, I said yes.....but just the cheese. By the time we got to the chocolate, I was pretty much through. When I asked for more fruit she brought that out along with the check and said "no rush." Well obviously it was because she came back 3x. By the 4th time, she literally grabbed the billfold. I'm sorry, if you can see that we're still eating or sipping on drinks, that means we're not done. I was so fed up with the service. It really put a damper on a fun evening with a friend. Visited the Melting Pot Maple Shade as a group for girls night out with 6 of my friends. This was soon after they opened the new location. Being the first time for all but one of us we found the menu extremely confusing as to what we needed to order to feed all of us. The waitress was no help at all in helping us decide on # of portions we'd need. 2 of us ordered cooked food, the other 4 went with cooking it themselves. The cooked food is more costly, the menu is confusing, cooking your own food takes a lot of time and isn't worth the effort. We ordered a variety of their mixed drinks from their specialty drinks list and they were good for the most part. The best part of the entire evening, other than just being out with friends, was the dessert. We all decided then that we'd only come back here to do dessert. It a a very expensive meal that left us unsatisfied. Not one of the 6 of us would return for anything other than the fondue desert. Welcome Home, Honey. It's been too long and now you are in my backyard. Yes, I love the TMP that much! As usual you must must must have the cheese and chocolate fondue. They have a crave option for $21.95 with your choice of cheese, salad, and chocolate! You can choose to add on entree items or not. This location is showcasing a new option that I feel many people will appreciate - the FonDone. The Fondone option designates the cooking to the chef just like a tradition restaurant. I on the other hand, love the classic fondue option where you cook your own. All of the prep has been done for you and it gives you a break to digest the cheese fondue and salad. At the center city location they had combos for the entree selection, now they are served tapas style. Our wonderful, upbeat, and engaging server, Kay, suggested 2-3 per person. We chose 2 per person and as always we were beyond full. Pro tip: use your phone timer to keep track of the cooking times. I suggest 4 minutes for the chicken and steak and 2.5-3 minutes for shrimp. Dump your veggies in before starting to cook the raw items, they take the longest. My favorite chocolate fondue is the flaming turtle with milk chocolate, caramel, and candied pecans. I usually go with an ipa and the ying yang martini but having just gotten out of bikram yoga, I needed something lighter so i chose the classic wine flight which came with 4 - 3 ounce servings paired perfectly with each course. I may never have the chance to enjoy my dearest ying yang martini with this as an option. I stole a sip of the deep south tea and it was very tropical (in a good way). Hey everyone they have Spellbound IPA! It was nice to see familiar faces from the center city location. Especially Eric our favorite bartender and one of the main reasons we used to visit many Monday nights. Consider yourself lucky if you have the pleasure of being served by him. He describes each course in a storyteller voice! As always, each staff member we interacted with was beyond attentive and pleasant. This new location is huge and well appointed. I guess I am spoiled in that I have friends who live in Zurich, Switzerland. I have had authentic fondue and the Melting Pot is NOT IT!! I make a better fondue at home with my ceramic fondue pot (caquelon) and you can too. Here is my authentic Swiss recipe that I helped make at my Swiss friends house in Zurich: In a heavy sauce pan, rub the interior of the pan with a raw garlic clove. Melt 8oz grated emmenthaler cheese and 8oz gruyere cheeses over low heat in the pan, stirring constantly. I like blue chleese and if you do, add 2 to 4 oz. of St. Agur blue from France, or your favorite soft blue. Melt and keep stirring. You may wish to add a splash of white wine. Serve with 1 inch cubes of French bread. (serves 4 to 6 people) Buy some wooden skewers or fondue forks to skewer the bread for dipping in the cheese. Best served on your communal table (use a heat pad to protect the table) with a group of friends. Give the traditional toast..."Prost" by holding up your wine glass while looking your guest(s) straight in the eye. Swiss tradition is that if you drop your bread cube into the pot you must kiss the person to your left. Enjoy!!! I bet no one at Melting Pot told you these things and Swiss traditions!!!! They have never been to Switzerland!!!! Melting pot restaurants are overpriced, noisy, and low quality. Make it at home and buy a nice bottle of red wine and save money. Enjoy!!!! Over priced, underwhelming. Tab came to $50 ea. and we didn't drink. Took forever to be served raw food...they don't even have to cook it. Could not get servers attention or get the table cleared which is super important since most of the table is taken up with the heating element. I ordered vegetarian and the only way to cook the vegetables thoroughly was to boil them, no way a hard vegetable would cook through on a grill so even they were super bland. It was suppose to come with onion rings but had tofu instead, big let down. Probably worst meal I have ever had. Came here the other night with a group of coworkers for happy hour. If you are looking for some munchies then happy hour is the perfect time to check this place out. We got the cheese and chocolate combination and a bunch of appetizers. Our favorite appetizer was the cheese and spinach quesadillas. The flaming turtle chocolate is amazing. If you never have been to a melting pot my recommendations are that you leave plenty of time to eat. This is not a quick bite place. You will probably end up being here a couple of hours if you want to get a full course dinner. Also if you plan on going on a weekend I would make a reservation. Ok. So, let's say this place is interesting. It starts off good. The initial cheese fondue choices aren't bad and are rather a nice way to start off. We had a lot of fun playing around with the cheeses and different dips. Next comes the salad which was a bit weak. The blue cheese on the salad was a complete letdown. No real blue cheese flavor. The house salad was better but either way neither were that exciting. Eh. The main course was a let down and the weak part of the meal. First, the cook your own meal concept becomes difficult when you have to do it piece by piece and play 'guess how long it was in there'. Secondly, taking a yummy looking piece of garnished raw meat and boiling it in a fancy pot just doesn't make sense. You'd be better bringing out the main course cooked and making another fondue to dip in. Now, anything that might have not worked well at this point kind of falls away at dessert. What could be better than a bowl of melted chocolate and dipping items. Mmmm. I would sum it up as a go once and say you did it thing but nothing more. It's not cheap. Each person runs about $45. Add drinks and tip. Expect an over $200 experience for four which is steep for the quality of food. What you are paying for is mostly the experience of the waiter preparing the food table side and the ability to play around a bit. As I think about that price again, I have to say it is probably not worth it. Probably cheaper to try it at home. read more

Went there for a 23rd birthday dinner and received some pretty bad service specifically from the manager Kristen. My friend forgot her ID so they would not serve her, which of course makes sense. Later during the dinner my friends mother ordered a margarita and the manager came up to us and gave us a very condescending speech about how we can not share drinks. The only reason she came up to us was because my friend ordered a margarita before they carded her. The way that she spoke to us was so rude. telling a grown adult woman that she couldn't order a margarita because she thought we might share it. Just the way she handled the situation was incredibly unprofessional and uncalled for.
